Captain Miscavige seems to have steered His sinking ship head on into another iceberg. In his clamor to get everyone to pay again to redo everything they have already done, He has blockaded the routes up the Bridge AND finally euthanized any remaining Field Auditors who survived GAT.
A Special Correspondent has just sent in this report from a tech terminal in CMO LATAM. Apparently the price changes on training in Mexico are overwhelming. They only discussed training data and all figures here are in US Dollars.
The Student Hat currently costs about $200. After the event on Friday, the cost will be $1,300.
$1,300 is the MONTHLY WAGE for DECENT job in Mexico. He said, “How is anyone going to be able to pay for this, much less the Academy Levels?”
EVERYONE IS REQUIRED TO RETRAIN FROM STUDENT HAT ON UP. All public. All staff.
People who have already done the pre-GAT Student Hat, then did the GAT Student Hat two times through with M4s and study certainty drills, and have completed all their auditor training since then WILL HAVE TO PAY FOR AND REDO THE NEW STUDENT HAT COURSE.
Academy Levels pricing is going up from $800/ level to $1,500/ level.
ALL AUDITORS AND C/Ses AND CRAMMING OFFICERS ARE REQUIRED TO REDO PRO TRS, PRO METERING AND ALL THE ACADEMY LEVELS.
Even people who completed the FLAG ONLY PRO METERING COURSE, five times through the check sheet to RTC Video Pass on three TR-4/8 Q1 assessments.
The new “passing drill” is EM-26. TR-4/8 Q1 is much, much harder than EM-26. Yet everyone has to redo the metering course anyway.
Even auditors who have completed Golden Age of Tech Academy Levels and Internships at FLAG under RTC supervision.
Even FLAG Interned Golden Age of Tech Snr C/Ses WILL HAVE TO REDO ALL OF THEIR AUDITOR TRAINING.
This is YET ANOTHER attack against all current field auditors & field groups.
All Sup and W/C’ers will have to redo all their training from Student Hat on up.
The full basics are DONE BEFORE THE STUDENT HAT.
TR’s and Objectives students who are currently co-auditing will be given the new TR’s and Objectives checksheets and will have to pay the price difference between the old course and the new course, in direct violation of HCO PL WHAT IS A CHECKSHEET.
David Miscavige must really hate auditors. He seems to think that no one ever understood auditing or Scientology or standard processes or rudiments or study tech or any basic books, or the OEC, or LOC or the Primary Rundown, etc., etc., etc. No one ever got anything. Even if they thought they did, they didn’t.
Gee…even by that logic, even if no one ever got it, but the group expanded ANYWAY and people had wins ANYWAY through the 60’s and 70’s, maybe it was OKAY for no one to ever really “get it” (just by that logic of course).
When one steps back and looks at all this, one has to appreciate that they are observing a case-study in brainwashing. He just spent the last 10 years saying how the whole Scientology religion was expanding like never before. “More in the last 5 years than in the previous 50”. But then he holds an event where he basically says “It’s all been bad all along and it’s not your fault and you’re not the reason why you’re not making it…” and NO ONE SPOTS the outpoint and asks…”Wait, what do you mean it’s all been bad…you’ve been saying for the last 10 years that we are in the RENAISSANCE of our religion and nothing has ever been better. But now you’re saying it’s all been crap and this new stuff is what will make it all better. I was already thinking things were great! I mean, I know it’s not great in my backyard, but I thought it was great everywhere else! I mean, that’s what you’ve been saying! Highest-ever everything, forever, everywhere! What is the need for all these changes?”
In some cases public at ASHO Foundation have taken six to eight YEARS to do their GAT SHSHBC updates. Previously trained Class VI’s swallowing their pride and redoing an eternity’s worth of GAT drills so they could once again become “properly” trained and certified Dukes of the Auditor Elite; coming in to course nights and weekends after their jobs just to train on the drills, night in and night out for YEARS. These guys are now being told “back to Student Hat”.
Perhaps I’m not giving these public enough credit. Perhaps they ARE spotting the outpoint. Perhaps this will all be the breaking point for them. No one in the FLAG field is actually a field auditor. After all, field auditing within 20 miles of Flag is a high-crime punishable by Cause Resurgence Rundown (joke).
But the LA field does have auditors. And field groups. And missions who hire auditors. I really wonder if the LA field is going to be quite as excited as the CW field seems to be about all of this.

Let’s hope DM just keeps making these INSANE decisions-orders. This will hopefully help others walk away.

Based on an earlier comment of someone under the radar who went to the event and afterwards went for drinks with friends and them agreeing simply not to go along with DMs
hogwash we may see, apart from more individuals getting out, more groups coming out, hopefully whole orgs. Heck, why not whole countries!
While this may sound idealistic, there simply IS a breaking point. Corner a normally shy wild animal in a corner, it will attack.
It is my hope that those under the radar huddle with their Kool-Aid drinking friends, a few having some spine left will stand up and revolt and carry the torch further, igniting this and that person.
What could DM do? Nothing or very little. He does not have the resources anymore to handle simultaneus fires in different countries. At best he can grab the amassed money and fly to a South American country that does not extradite to the US.

I was a Div 6 FSO staff member in the public field as an FSC. The biggest outpoint was how orgs regged to death there Div 2 public because there were no new public in the orgs. I now know where this actually stemmed from, IT WAS COMING FROM THE TOP OF THE ORG BOARD! This is the only solution to “Keeping Scientology Working” since Div 6 world wide is non-existent. Make changes to the Bridge so that Div 2 public are FORCED to pay again for services they already did! What an evaluation and invalidation to all auditors. There are going to be a lot of dirty needles to clean up!

I paid $600 for my student hat in the early 80s. Considering inflation has gotten the best of us since by about 2.5x if not more, overall the prices have come down. The whole training training package then I paid $8,000, now it’s $20,000, so it’s about the same deal price-wise.
But then why bother with CO$? One can do the original Student Hat for far less than that out here among the Indies without required IAS attendance, other miscellaneous donations, security checks or blocked by arbitraries such as ‘The Basics’.
Paolo says
Man, if it were true this would be really stupid. The most trained people would leave. The field auditors will be shut down, missions would stop delivery… Are we really certain everybody will have to retrain?
Gatchild says
Hence why five people from every org were sent for training, and fired back. All the bases are covered, and delivery can continue, since everyone is doing objectives or Student Hat all over again.
However, a little-known stat from GAT1 was that 1/4 of the trainees blew, were RPFed or off-post within the first 3 months of returning to their orgs.
On day one: One walked off the plane home and was just never heard from again. Another three routed off staff to handle financial troubles incurred by their months at Flag. Another refused to be the supervisor (and had refused to be a supe the entire training program, no surprise there). Another was two months pregnant when she returned and left due to medical reasons.
In PAC, two word clearers and two supervisors (out of ten trainees) were off-post within the first week of returning. Not sure who Scrifvars pissed off to get sent to the RPF, but at least he was pulled off later.
Espiritu says
The photo at the beginning of this post symolozes a fact: Mi$cavige specializes in STOPS. No surprise there. This latest GAG II is simply the latest of DM’s chain of suppressive acts against LRH’s tech. They have resulted in people who want Scientology having failed purposes in ever learning to audit or going up the Bridge themselves.
Ron said the following about “stops” and “failed purposes” in HCOPL 14 January 1969, entitled OT ORGS:
” -ALL YOU HAVE TO DO TO RESTORE LIFE AND ACTION IS TO REKINDLE THE FAILED PURPOSE. THE STOPS WILL AT ONCE BLOW. ”
So here’s an idea: Why don’t we just IGNORE this idiot and just go out there and start auditing and getting trained and having some auditing from others in the independent field, and just keep on doing that. I think that the more people do this, the faster these stops and failed purposes will blow on the 3rd dynamic. Mi$cavology does not cut it and is not any competition for LRH’s Scientology.

I worked for the church for more than 20 years, almost all that time in Missions or out opening Missions. So my view point has always been slanted towards Division 6: Attracting New People to Scientology. One of the main statistics is (or used to be!) First Service Starts. This is (or was!) defined as a person starting their first paid service IN the Mission or Org.
You could plot the success of any Mission based on this stat. If there was a constant flow of new people starting their first service then everything clicked. If there was a decent Basic Course Supervisor the students would have some wins and a certain percent would resign for further services. And so there would be people getting audited and on more “advanced” courses. Also, and an important point: new people to Scientology bring in more new people. To use the Scientology term, they Disseminate. They “FSM” in new people. People who have been in Scientology for a while most often do NOT bring in many new public. There are several reasons for this, but it’s a fact.
So, what happens if there is NOT a steady flow of new people starting the first service? Lots of bad stuff: The Mission starts pressing, over-regging, over pushing, actually I believe there is a LRH reference where he specifically says that the Org (or Mission) will start “cannibalizing” its field.
Even though I do not have access to see the Int Stats on First Service Starts I would bet everything that it is on a 20 year death slide to the bottom. Back when I worked at a Mission in the West US we had 8 to 15 First Starts a week. This was in the late ‘80’s and early ‘90’s. Several years ago when I was still allowed in they were averaging maybe 4 to 6 a MONTH! And I bet it’s gone down since.
When I worked in the Mission Network in Russia in the late 1990’s Moscow Mission and St Pete Mission were getting 100 to 200 First Starts a WEEK. Last I heard they were down to 10.
So, what to do??? If there are NO new people starting, then the only way to make money is to simply have everyone RE-DO everything, over, and over and over and over…
Man, that has got to SUCK!

Mike,
What you’ve posted here if it can be verified which I’m sure will be proven out eventually is that the Golden Age of Tech phase II is the second phase of the roaringly successful (that is if you are a real SP) phase I operation
(which can be shown statistically using actual statistics not by the white rabbit pulled outa some Mad Hatter’s hat stats with the psychedelic exploding graphics:
http://www.friendsoflrh.org/Section2/
as an abject complete and total failure)
when in fact it is to put it bluntly the same ol’ shit wrapped in a different wrapper.
I mean it’s all about packaging right?
(Personally I’m wondering what Madison Ave Mad Man or as they are called these days “Perception Managers” was behind this deceptive campaign with spooky Bob Gray off the account.
But anyhoo…)
And this one was packaged as some “historical event” supposedly of the same significance as the release of Book 1 if not of greater importance.
I mean that is if you believe the deluded chatter by the usual suspects and useful idiots on the Church of Scientology’s small sector of cyber or cyborg space.
(History I’ve observed is a big button with some people. They like the unlamented Neo-Cons who tried to rule America a short time back by making history usually make a mess. Because history usually like shit happens.
But anyhoo..)
As I wrote being “part of history” is enticing to some people mainly those people who lead dull lives like pulling teeth or busting backs for their next patron level or whatever…
(Reminds me of a line from Revolutionary Road about leading lives of quiet desperation or something like that which I’m right now too lazy to Google up.
But anyhoo..)
and they like to think that they are “making history” standing under a leaky circus tent in the middle of Clearwater.
Moving on.
Yeah the Golden Age of Tech was originally marketed and promoted as a legitimate change in training based on the lecture “A Talk on a Basic Qual” instituted by the then Snr C/S Int with drills carefully devised by the “experts” at RTRC and to sweeten the deal a full amnesty.
Little did many of us at the time know that this was a carefully orchestrated deception. In other words a total crocka shit until signing up for course and what was once forbidden was now in force. More accurately squirreling.
Now Miscavige and his team of Org wreckers isn’t even bothering with the Potemkin Village of the original Golden Age of Tech.
They are just going to shove it down everybody’s throat because as he’s said when introducing the “Ideal Org” program gradients no longer apply and like GW who is probably his role due to the fact they have the same level of IQ he is going to do a preemptive strike on any possible opposition by slamming in his squirrelly vision of the tech.
Personally I doubt if this will go well.
It’ll probably be his version of Iraq.

Or the cob must be asserting that only HE ever got Scientology and the rest of us fuck ups never did. So now we must follow the only Source point left on the planet?!! Some weird logic like this.
The Invisible Man says
Mike I find it incredible that this is true about the Student Hat, that it’s been extended by having to go through the tapes 2x and M4ing the whole damn course etc. In the June Scientology News mag Issue 57 it says “As Mr Miscavige put it? “Is there something spectacular? You bet!” How faster is it? With total certainty? The answer is that the average length of time through the LRH Study Tapes lectures is one-fifteenth the time it took previously. Or put another way: If a student took 300 hours of study before, they will take 20 hours now. And again with totally certainty.” Now he could be talking about those who already know the tapes off by heart anyway and it’s easy and quick for them. But for those who are new to The Student Hat???? Not a hope in hell will they get through fast.. It proves to me that Miscavige is a total liar. Thoughts?

Does this shut down Mace Kingsley until all of their auditors are re-trained?
DMSCOHB says
No, it was not announced at the event that everyone has to retrain. Nor was this fact announced back in ’96 at the GAT 1 event. It was all in the implementation programs that were given to orgs, which were Snr C/S Int Bulletin 165 series. Guaranteed that the implementation programs for GAT 2 are IG Network Bulletins instead. I’ll try to find out.
DMSCOHB says
By the way, I just can’t help but point out that the IGNW Bulletins which were issued to all orgs AFTER the Snr C/S Int Bulletin 165-series…the one dictating to post 20 auditors, get all the LL folders programmed, get all the Clears rounded up, etc…these programs were pushed EXCLUSIVELY for at least 10 years non-stop.
The Snr C/S Int Bulletin program were to implement parts of the GAT. But finishing the full IGNW Bulletin programs would have meant that the GAT was IN FULLY at the org.
IMEC EDs disappeared; no longer issued. IMBs disappeared; no longer issued. LRH ED 339R programs disappeared; no longer issued. Why bother? The orgs already had their orders directly from The Man. Orgs were ONLY pushed to get the IGNW Bulletins implemented. And what happened….not one org in the entire world, including CC Int (known to be the biggest and the best outside of FLAG) ever completed one of the IGNW Bulletins….EVER. These programs were a case-study in “unreal targets”.
Many orgs submitted compliance to get the programs accepted as done. CC Int sure tried many times. Once a rumor was even going around the PAC area that CC Int got one completed. But nope. All compliance reports for full program completion routinely rejected.
So get that picture. The Man issues his perfectly evaluated programs to all orgs, through a network of SO members who are terrified to non-comply with these most senior of orders…and yet still in 15 years not one org in the world can comply with even one IGNW Bulletin that was issued? Pretty bleak.

Thanks to Martin Padfield for the shout-out above. Yes, I did want to do a deeper dive on what he said about demand.
So I would like to suggest a different potential explanation for what Miscavige is doing. It’s not one that makes him look any better, but I think i fits available facts better than just saying “he’s nuts” or “he has a hidden purpose of destroying Scientology.” It doesn’t matter what his motivation is or his state of sanity is in order to understand why he might be making these decisions.
At one point last summer, Chuck Beatty challenged me to read the Green Volumes, since I used to be a corporate strategy consultant, so I know a little bit about how to make companies run better. I gave up after a couple hundred pages, but saw enough to understand a few key things about Hubbard’s style.
One of the things you look for when you are working with a company is to find the “hidden assumptions” of management. In other words, there are always things inside a company that people do “just because,” and they may not know why they’re doing it. You can often help companies out a lot just by noticing and fixing stupid hidden assumptions.
For example, auto parts makers in Detroit in the 1970s and 1980s spent a lot of money on automating systems to process refund requests from Ford, GM and Chrysler for defective parts that they received. The volume of defective parts was so high that they had to issue hundreds of credit memos every day. The unspoken assumption was that you can’t improve quality so you might as well get efficient giving refunds for bad quality.
By comparison, I read a case study of one parts maker in Japan. When they had to issue a credit memo to Toyota or Honda for bad parts, not only did the CEO have to sign off on the credit memo personally but he also called the customer to apologize, with some of the workers who built the parts in question forced to listen in. They only had to issue a couple of credit memos a year on billions of dollars in sales. The Japanese took over the car business because they had a very different set of assumptions (“we build quality stuff and we take it personally when we fail”) than the Americans (“we build tons of crap so we automate the process for giving refunds for all the crap we send out”).
In looking over the Green Volumes, Hubbard is always saying something like, “If you do X, orgs will fall apart. But if you stop doing X and start doing Y, then the orgs will instantly boom.” There are two hidden assumptions in this statement: 1) that most problems come from the staff doing the wrong thing, and 2) that once people do the right thing, money comes flying in BECAUSE DEMAND FOR SCIENTOLOGY IS INFINITE.
In the early days of Scientology, demand might well have appeared to be infinite. And while that may have been true at the time, in the real world, the only “products” with infinite demand are air, water and food. Everything else is basically optional. Demand for products always slows at some point, and the reasons for that are extremely varied. There’s no one magic cause.
A related detail that falls out of the fantasy of “infinite demand” is the idea that if demand is infinite, raising prices will not slow it down. Hubbard raised prices at a rate of 10% per month for quite a while, and the money kept flowing in. So that further reinforced the idea that demand is infinite and that it is not price sensitive.
I doubt Miscavige has a clue about economics. The notion of “price elasticity of demand” is something everybody who has taken an economics class has learned. But DM hasn’t figured this out since he never went to college. That’s why he thinks he can charge a month’s salary in Mexico for a basic course and raise prices six times over the older version. He can do what he wants, but people will figure out how to save money, no matter how much the COS calls them and tries to “reg” them.
I have no idea whether Miscavige is really trying to exterminate Scientology as a willful, conscious purpose or not. I always tend to look for incompetence before I suspect malice, and there is plenty of incompetence here that would explain why the COS is imploding. The hidden assumptions Miscavige makes are so glaring and are so utterly wrong that I can’t imagine any other CEO of a company this size who would make them.
Mike Rinder says
JPC — As usual, this is an accurate assessment of the situation.
There is another factor in play.
The MOST important thing for Miscavige is to maintain His position of absolute authority and the complete subservience of His minions. This is FAR more important than money. It is a motivating factor only paralleled by His vanity.
To remain in power in the Scientology world, one must convince the followers that one is “on Source.” Miscavige goes to enormous lengths in His efforts to present Himself thusly. He painstakingly “devotes thousands of hours” to finding the last detail of “everything that LRH said” and then reissues things over and over “now they are on Source.”
He also knows that if He can get people to DO things that defy logical thinking and are against their best interests He re-asserts and affirms His control over them. If He can get His followers to prostrate themselves before Him, they will reinforce in their own minds that he is right. Why would they be such idiots otherwise?
Thus, His actions seem counter-intuitive. One would imagine that He would try to gain more support by a “kinder/gentler” approach. That however is not in His repertoire. His management style is to dominate and crush any opposition. It works for a while, but usually doesn’t end well. But with Him it has more legs because He hides behind the coattails of L. Ron Hubbard, pretending He is Hubbard’s best friend and staunchest supporter.
Jane Doe says

Peter says
John: While I find your theory interesting, I can think of no one in scientology I ever knew nor have ever heard of who has demonstrated more INTENTIONAL MALICE, and who apparently enjoys that MALICE, then our resident Judas Miscavige. It matters not one whit what he knows or understands about economics. Such understanding is not remotely necessary to the game he is playing. Every single move he has made and is making destroys the organization more deeply. As the old saying goes, “If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it’s a duck!”
John P. Capitalist says
Peter,
I stay away from arguments based on value judgments about people (whether they’re “good” or “evil”) because you have to determine whether someone is good or evil in order to predict what they’re going to do. And even then, that value judgment doesn’t necessarily give you much predictive power, since different malicious and evil people will do very different things in the same circumstances.
So I say the idea that Miscavige implicitly believes that Scientology has infinite demand is a better way to go for two reasons:
1) I can take this argument to a Kool-Aid drinker and have a chance of making in impact even on a True Believer. That’s because I don’t require the True Believer to abandon completely his hero-worship of DM and believe he’s actually an evil douchebag in order to buy my argument. I just have to convince him that DM has one misunderstanding which is costing the Church of Scientology lots of money wasted on real estate, etc. You stand a better chance of puncturing their reality if you do it in little bites rather than trying to detonate the entire belief structure.
2) This mistaken belief explains a lot more than just the fact that people aren’t flocking in the door as “fresh meat.” It explains the Idle Morgue program, the imposition of all the arbitrary changes like the 3 sweeps redefinition of a floating needle, etc. Not just the price increase in Mexico to unrealistic levels, which sparked the original comment.
As it happens, the REAL place for evil in my analysis is in the other part of the equation — how Hubbard’s implicit assumption that demand was infinite allowed him first, and Miscavige later, to assume that staff incompetence was at fault any time that stats fell. That is where you get contempt for the staff that led to things like the RPF, the Hole, and the consistently abusive treatment of staff and Sea Org at ridiculously low wages. The more you believe that demand is infinite, the easier it is to believe that your staff is infinitely incompetent, and the easier it is to rationalize doing anything at all to motivate them.
Peter says
Respectfully, I suggest that trying to convince any True Believer of such an error has about the same chance of working as the proverbial snowball in Hell. And to then derive that this “error” generated all the contempt and horrendous behaviour that both showed toward staff is an extremely far reach.
As well, Miscavige has shown contempt (and hatred) for virtually *everyone*, public included (which doesn’t quite jibe with your thesis.) His actions and results go far beyond any rational behaviour based on a misunderstanding of market action. His behaviours are truly Caligula in action, though he seems to go even further than fiddling while the whole thing burns, pouring immense amounts of gasoline on the fires.
Even given a misunderstanding about an unending market for scientology cannot begin to explain burying people in his prisons for years on end, subjecting them to physical, emotional and spiritual abuse, and not providing any method by which they can end such tortures. These are the actions of a maniac. If he were to suddenly “see the light” and realize, as you posit, that there is not an unending market, do you really believe that anything he is doing would change in the slightest? Contempt, hatred and irrationality are his trademarks. His known rages even surpass Hubbard in volume and damage.
Regretfully, I think you are far off the mark.

Still On Your Side says
Other other thing Miscavige doesn’t get is the value of a hard earned dollar. His assumptions that raising prices will cause expansion is linked to his, very childish, lack of understanding about how hard it is to earn a salary that will allow payment of those prices.

In the last years before I left and the F/N change to “Watch three swings or Bad Indicators are” was running rampant, people were having to retrain the BC. Even auditors who had finished and had interned to permanent cert.
My friend Alice Pero had been a Class VI for quite a while and IIRC had to start over. At that time I told her: “If you did the course, passed, got a permanent cert, why do you have to retrain?
But, she went ahead and did it. She and her family are still in.
So, I hold faint hope that this will wake up the sheeple. They have been abused by arbitrary and draconian changes for so long, this will probably just be seen as “one of those things I have to do to really go OT”.
Is there any reports from those still in that these GAT II changes are not going over well? Some who were at flag for the opening? Any stat increase in the number of leaving the church doubt formulas?
It hasn’t hit the orgs yet. I guess I can hope.

I agree. For the most part I think these honestly-still-in people are too beaten down to be woken up.
I do think, however, that the still-ins will simply stall, and fall away, believing that they “just don’t have what it takes” to “make it go right”..
And I think this will help complete the doubt formulas of those on the fence, and escalate the exit strategems of those who are still pretending to be in.
Gatchild says
A number of GAT trained friends saw through this. Also, I’m chatting with friends abroad, and they feel the same way (apparently the event is being leaked over in EU). Basically, none of us want to train again, and very few want to do the Bridge.
The sycophants aren’t “beaten down”; they willingly stay and want to be “on purpose” for status reasons (mostly). There are a few that are being “1.1” about the matter. The majority for some reason think that all the statuses and “OT levels” make a difference. It’s almost like oneupmanship or some odd “keeping up with the Joneses” mentality. They cannot be “woken up”.
However, those people are pretty rare. Most of the locals didn’t go to the event. And by most, I mean a good 70% of the people who have been involved in Scn that I know. The very few that were trying to keep up appearances who attended were flat out revolted. In fact, a group of us went drinking after the Saturday event.

It’s my understanding from a recently out that miscavige is also changing the pay scale for staff and is promising that staff will be able to make a living. Seems to me the plan is to make auditing as a public unaffordable (keeps them ignorant) and only “staff” will be trained.
This keeps the public sheeple at effect. Knowing how to audit makes one cause over the tech.
Of course, completely eliminating any auditing outside his direct control will make his monopoly complete (in his delusional state).
Miscavige is a sadistic, only-one, sociopath who is completely devoid of any conscience. His only goal is “to win.” What constitutes a “win” in his universe can shift from minute to minute. What his actual plans are can change depending on which psychotic circuit he’s dramatizing in that moment. Several things are absolutely certain: 1. he has to be in complete control of everything and everyone in his vicinity 2. He’s a very skilled con-artist in regard to extorting money out of people 3. He craves to be adored and craves to be the only one who is adored. 4. He is terrified of anyone who is self-determined and will do everything possible to crush that determinism.
I don’t envy him or anyone in his spell.
Mike Rinder says
Les — when the first Ideal Orgs were opened, Captain Miscavige delivered briefings to Joburg staff and CLO Af, to CLO EU and I think CLO UK on HIS new staff pay system. It was a lengthy briefing about how HE had sorted it all out and that everyone would now be paid well. All staff in all CLO’s were forced to watch it (more than once). That was more than a decade ago now.
Probably time for a re-do with a special briefing about how some SP messed up the staff pay system but Mr. On Source has now fixed it (again).
Mreppen says
What’s so incredible about this, is David Miscavige was not GAT trained nor GAT 2, yet he orders this? Insane. He really does hate auditors.
Gus Cox says
I also find that fascinating. Here is a guy who holds an administrative post (He is the chairman of RTC, which administers copyrights), who has no certs (even though He could probably have some printed up for Himself at that fancy printing plant He owns, but even *He* won’t falsify a cert… yet), who completely re-designs auditor training. Meanwhile, the Sr. C/S Int. is nowhere to be seen.
I’m not sure that many currently-in people even realize what a Sr. C/S International is, or whether one even exists. Shit, I don’t even know if one exists, at this point.
Crazy times, eh?

I have a question. Is KTL being delivered in any orgs or has that gone down the drain with everything else? Possibly he’s going for one big reg fest before he checks out.
Mike Rinder says
No KTL is not delivered. Miscavige decreed some years ago that it is “squirrel.” Funny, HE was directly and personally involved with the compilation, piloting and export of KTL.
It’s something he will be able to get “On Source” sometime in the future and sell all over again and require everyone to do all over again (the “On Source” version).
Michael Leonard Tilse says
Would that include LOC? I think one of the problems with the KTL/LOC lineup is that too many folks were finding their purpose in life didn’t include being staff or even being a scientologist.
Mike Rinder says
Yes, also includes LOC. Plenty of stories about the disaster that was LOC when people in the SO or on staff found a different hat in life…
Obnosis says
I had been wondering if any of the new Super Power auditors had done KTL/LOC, since that’s who they were originally designed for, right? KTL is still one of the best courses I’ve ever done.

Mike what someone needs to get their hands on and publish here far and wide is the programs that the Orgs are drilling and implementing right now, the “Patter” drills that the staff are doing to “handle” the publics upset and questions with GAT II. We had many for GAT I and I am sure this is going to be far more brutal. At least Auditors were offered “Amnesty” to take the sting off a tiny bit or distract them from the total inval and eval of their skills. But now, people who have spent YEARS on the GAT getting done to “Perfection” are told, “Yup you are a squirrel who never knew anything before this moment. We’re just gonna reset the board here. All those Certs and Gold seals, just burn those. They’re no good. Have to start fresh with the “real” tech.” When I think back on my part in GAT I it makes me sick. That I had the balls to look Class VI’s and VIII”s that were trained by LRH at St. Hill and on the Ship personally in the eyes and tell them that they didn’t know how to audit and they never did and I believed it. Makes me so sorry. If I could round up all those people and apologize I would. They deserve at least that. This is beyond evil at this point. It is just cruel. Cruelty for sport. And they lap it up like it is love and light and the path to freedom. I am so sad for all these people. They are sad.
Thank god I am well out, my family is out and my children will NEVER know anything of Scientology. Not a damn thing.
I think the only result of this GATII will be a LOT of people getting declared, and losing their families and livelihood and hopefully the end of the reign of terror that is known as Scientology on the world. But we will see. There are too many who are loving it. But if anyone out there is brave enough to smuggle a copy of any of the programs out for GAT II I can offer you a safe place to live and food and work. IF you are reading this.
CIVMAR says
“If I could round up all those people and apologize I would. ”
A very commendable desire. Can I suggest you post your contrition (if I may use that word) on a message board? I did a similar thing a couple of years ago. I’m not sure how many I was trying to reach saw it since my Sea Org days were in the early 70’s, but my hoped-for EP is that at least one of them sees it and thinks:
“K___ admits he was a bastard to me back then, has apologized and wishes me well. Well, that blows a little charge!”

For those of you who are new and looking in here please realize that David Miscavige has a very tall, highly polished jack-boot sitting squarely on the “help” button. He doesn’t want help occurring in any quarter! Doesn’t want you to be helped, doesn’t want you to help anyone and he can’t take the necessary steps to help himself.
Honestly, just take a look at it. In your own life the people you love or admire are very probably in some way helping something or someone get along better- Teachers helping kids, repairman helping your refrigerator or a mechanic helping your car etc…. How much admiration do you have for drug dealer or a car thief?
But, it’s even worse than this. Miscavage is actively destroying things. He destroys the income of the churches, he destroys attendance in the course room, he destroys families through disconnection, and he destroys spiritual gain through altered LRH tech.
Please keep your eyes wide open and believe what you see for yourself.

Ronnie Bell says
Too true. He has no new customers, having destroyed the reputation of the religion and the organization long since. How else to raise income, than dreaming up schemes like the Idle Orgs program, the Soup or Power building, and recycling existing public to the bottom of the Bridge (or what’s left of it)?

Mike, very good point that Miscavige’s sweeping changes directly contradict his claims of Phenomenal Stupendous Greatest Ever Expansion. That particular, glaring outpoint had eluded me until reading this.

Chris Mann says
I guess He wants to prevent all auditing and auditors except under His strict control. In other words- only at Flag and in the SO can people train. You really have to be in the SO to become an auditor I guess. That way you are in a hard bubble. That way He can control the tech so no real auditing occurs? He must be afraid that auditing works and will make people more powerful.
Madora Pennington says
Yes, he wants NO MORE of those pesky auditors! They sure are hard to control, with their ability to confront, to hold their position in space, to see aberration, to think for themselves. And don’t forget that desire to help others.

Dan Locke says
I am imagining there will be a lot more like Trey Lotz coming into the independent field. For all the time I was on staff (1972-2003) the orgs became progressively more and more restrictive of field auditing. I know that there were plenty of references saying to give them free reign, but there were also always other sets of regulations in force that superseded these.
Even in the 70’s things were stoppy. But the BC at that time was THE way to get through the grades on a co-audit, Power was half price for BC students and the Solo course was free. Prior to Dianetic Clear in 78, all roads to OT ran through ASHO and a big percentage of people routing on to their OT levels were VIs or BC students. All the Class IV org regges pushed auditing as a career and the BC made that dream come true for hundreds of people as well as assisted them in going OT.
So, the LA field was booming. The boom of new Clears in 78 brought about a change in the lower bridge that Scientology has never recovered from. Prices, already high, kept getting higher and new people pretty much stopped coming in. OC and a couple orgs did well from Sterling and other management consultants an would very quickly become Flag-only public that rarely gave auditing as a profession even an idle thought.
I’m pretty sure international GI was kept high by big money rolling in at the AOs and at Flag, handling this new bonanza of clears, but few came to ASHO anymore and the BC started to tank. Later affluences in BC attendance were primarily at ASHO F and through allowing part time schedules at ASHO Day. The occasional shift to enforce full time schedules on the BC would always result in empty course rooms: generally the people who could afford full time Scientology wanted only the OT levels and Ls and then to get back to their businesses.
And, Mike’s right, getting through the BC on a part time schedule takes years, and with every new “training breakthrough”, it took longer. Auditors never took off as they ran out of gas idling on these runways.
Yet many of the LA field auditors still remained active, even after the ’82-83 debacles. Trey Lotz comes to mind as perhaps the most active. But there were plenty of others, too.
Then IHELP arrived with a very brief flash of hope, and it quickly became apparent that it would have been better named WESTOP. IHELP was a very sad institution.
Then, when Golden Age of Tech came out, the enforcement that everyone had to do it all over again…! Talk about an unpopular program! But, people pretty soon wised up. There was no fighting it, and if you talked back, you were in big trouble. So many people just quit then. Very ridiculous.
Prediction: This newest evolution will allow only the very well off to get on to these lineups and through them quickly. The full-timers will be Feschback children and others of similar fortunes. Most of these will, early on in their line-ups, be recruited to be full-time auditors in some new program, and their training accounts debited for book and meter campaigns. But 90% of these new recruits will then be determined to be Exec Series 40 Qualed (in that they have never, ever lived a life at all) and end up being Int Management and DM-bots, thus continuing the tradition.
Hallie Jane says
Excellent comment Dan, very informative. Thanks! I would love to see any field auditors go indie as they are already set up. The demand is growing for auditing without all the bullshit.
Jane Doe says
Dan, thanks for the data. I can back you up as I was there at ASHO and saw all the evolutions you speak of. And how sad that you are right that the only ones who can do Davie’s new lineup are the kids of the very rich, like the Fescbacks, and they may get recruited to be the new Int Management. Bah Humbug.

knatherthomas says
David Miscage is not now nor has he ever been an auditor. He washed out of an internship years ago after hitting his pc. He just didn’t get it, and in his failure to grasp what it is to be an auditor he then knew in his heart that no one else could really do it either. The Auditor’s Code and Act 1 both require the ability and desire to grant beingness to another. In the real world this ability is the underlying quality of being someone’s friend. DM has no friends. He has sycophants and cowed minions. Interesting that he wasn’t “given the works” when he didn’t cut it as an auditor way back when. He’s the living proof that not turning the sluggard inside out bodes ill for us all…and he’s still going to be right about hitting anyone within his reach.
Zana says
Because he couldn’t audit… he DOESN’T WANT anyone ELSE to do it either.
Like frigid people who won’t allow themselves to have sex — they don’t want anyone else to have the pleasure of sex either. If an Auditor can truly help someone with these simple methods that he is so incompetent at… then those auditors must be stopped. If he can’t have those wins, then nobody can.
It’s a matter of narcissism. Ego. Very dangerous.
As John Kennedy so aptly put it as David Miscavige left his office, “He’s a nasty piece of work.”
SadStateofAffairs says
Unbelievable. David Miscavige is apparently not satisfied with the degree of destruction he has thus far visited on Scientology and Scientologists both internal in the Church and in the external world. Now he is going in for the kill – total head shot at .point blank range.

And then when it collapses he will walk away with all the real estate.
thetapotata says
Wow… I think I hear the sound of hot air deflating out of the giant tent. All that excitement generated for the event and big ovation will soon be forgotten. The sad reality is that once again the answer is what you already did and paid for isn’t good enough and it’s your fault, so you need to buy it and do it again. For the faithful who are puzzled by this, they will need to realize that everyone except for Miscavige and Tom Cruise are DB’s. Then, a giant cog will come over them and they will realize how wrong they’ve been all of Miscaviges life and how extremely lucky they are to have another chance to get it right.
Martin Padfield says
The photo on this posting Mike sums it up, no more need be said. The Bridge – within the Church anyway – is closed.
The only other thought I had about this, to go all John P for a moment, is that one would assume with all the price increases and so on, that there was a product here with some public demand. That’s what you do when your product is in more demand than you can potentially deliver – you put the prices up. When you’ve got spare capacity and product isn’t moving, you put the prices down and make it as easy as possible for public to buy it. Aint rocket science. Maybe Miscavige sees Full and bustling Ideal Orgs everywhere with too many public than Orgs can deliver to – in which case the men in white coats need to pay him a visit.

It would make sense to redo the lower levels if there was a drastic change to methods or equipment that would warrant going back to the beginning. But if there was, that would violate KSW #1 and put a lie to the term “Standard Tech”. What would cause more people to blow, doing what they’re doing and pretending that “this is what LRH intended” or just coming out and admitting that they’re diverging from Hubbard and this is what RCS’s Tech is in 2013?
More than anything, it’s the continual lying and prevaricating on this issue that gets to me. Hubbard may have programmed a death sentence into Scientology with KSW and his insistence on being the unerring, unchangeable Source, and RCS is attempting to circumvent that, but saying that evolution or revolution is no change is denial of reality.
This situation reminds of the reform of the Russian Orthodox Church in the late 17th Century. They went back to “Source”, namely the teachings of the Greek Orthodox Church, and found that some “things were wrong” and tried to change them (this included such items as how many fingers were to be used to make the Sign of the Cross). A number of people revolted against that, and the government drove them into hiding. Some breakaway sects are still in hiding today. There are only two differences between that situation and the one with RCS:
1) Miscavige wishes that he had the power of Peter the Great in enforcing what he considers orthodoxy.
2) Peter the Great was 6’8″. Miscavige…not.

You said it, he hates auditors…hum, but why? Well, they make people better and, if people is doing good, they are dangerous to him; so he has to suppress and nullify people around him so he can control them and then, well, they are not dangerous to him.
This is the insanity described re SPs…and the bottom line is they do it as an SP lives in terror even though it is disguised under a charismatic smile, in true they are in terror.
So, making impossible for auditors (very great and sane people) to get others in better shape is something he hates and, as we have seen over the last 20 years, he has done everything possible to kill them.
Sorry to tell him that he lost, there are many in the field, outside of the church, delivering and he can not control this any more, so,,,you lost DM. Tick Tock

Wow. Another thought is when a trained, declared SP wants to get back into good standing in the church, they have to retrain from the bottom up. Now, DM has made it wholesale for everyone to retrain from the bottom up. Pretty close to a declare on the entire church. Complete with donations to IAS, Ideal Orgs, paying for their entire training again. He’s just not calling it an “amends” project.

Roy Macgregor says
Incredible. The efforts to wipe out field auditors have been in full swing for 20 years now but it’s been a tough job. However DM is up to the challenge of wiping out some of the most independent and hardy practicioners. Even in early 2000 there were no more than 20 or 30 full time field auditors left in the whole world. I bet this has started to build up sllightly as more people completed the GAT1 marathon re-train. This new requirement will be the end of field auditing and I think it will be permanent. All auditing will be done in orgs, where there is recording equipment and anything you say can and will be used against you if you step out of line, don’t say the right thing, fail to acknowledge COBRTC with enough enthusiasm etc, etc, etc.
Chris Mann says
Oh my god. Are you sure about this? It seems crazy even for Miscavige.

If someone wanted to destroy the good potential of scientology from within, they succeeded. Misuse of policy references, altered importances, and much worse have occurred. But the usefulness of the subject matter cannot be extinquished and is alive and well in the hands of many thousands of independents. Maybe it is a blessing that the church became twisted within the lifetime of so many who know what was and could have been. For they caught the baby as it was being thrown out with the bathwater.

I can’t help but wonder sometimes… What is Miscavige’s real objective?
Does he really, genuinely think he is a true Scientologist? Is his motivation to actually improve how the church works? Does he really want to clear the planet? Does he really believe in Scientology, and does he really believe in LRH? Is he just a very, very stupid believer who is so inept, so brainless, so moronic that he can’t see how destructive he has been?
Or is he just purely in it for the money, power, and lifestyle? Does he think that Scientology is bunk, and that this is just a way for him to accumulate money and think up new ways of forcing everyone to redo things and pay him more? Maybe at some point long ago he found something that made him throw out Scientology, and now, he’s just out to make a buck, take scotch tours, go scuba diving, hang out with his “communicator,” and punch people.
Every action he takes seems to reinforce the latter, not the former. Here he is, dealing another staggering blow to auditors, raking in more money, and demanding to be cheered and celebrated for his efforts.

I agree with the latter. He’s an SP. Destroying the organization and loving it. I’m sure he is gloating over all those stupid lower beings who are willing to eat s#@t just because he tells them to. He thrives on humiliating people. He needs it. And, yes, he loves the money and the lifestyle. However…he is imprisoned by his insanity. He can’t go anywhere.
I think that his need to humiliate and put others in servitude is equally or even more motivating than the money. He truly has lost all contact with reality.
hatethetech says
It’s deliberate. When it comes to the time to cut and run, the less still in, the less problems he will have getting away with it.
That time is comming
Globetrotter says
Maybe a weird mix of “all of the above”. I am pretty sure that a large part of these “breakthroughs” has to do with covering his own ass. He knows full well that his “ideal” orgs are empty. So he needed some plan to fill them with existing Scientologists, because he also knows no one is able to get any new people in. Add to this his other big problem – no tech personnel worth anything left in any “ideal org”. So from a purely business perspective (with the plan REQUIRING clubbed seals for it to work) it makes business sense to make it mandatory for everyone to redo the most basic of services that any “ideal org” with an instant hatted Mini Course Supervisor as its only staff can deliver: Basics “courses” and Student Hat. This is all he can sell and deliver, and existing Scientologists are the only people who will buy it, so he had no choice but to repackage this as a “huge breakthrough” to try to make the sheeple swallow it.
If the orgs non-comply (as it is to be expected) he can always send in a “Command Team” of an ED, a Reg and a Supervisor and (most importantly) an “Ethics Officer” to “clean up the field” and either declare or sign up everyone for the “Re-Do_Rundown”.

Good eval, Globetrotter.
Dan Koon says
Seems like a good time for Independent Scientology training facilities to begin a massive advertising campaign based solely and only on the subject of MONEY. This whole “back to the beginning” crap is beyond anything I could have imagined. I would be interested to hear of a single non-staff paying public taking advantage of “GAT II.” DM must have GAT II confused with WW II.
Ex Staff says
I wish I had the resources to place ads on the buses that go around Clearwater. The ads would say something like “Scientologists: Real Scientology is being delivered outside the Church. We don’t charge a fortune. We don’t disconnect. We’re here to help. Call (phone number) for more information.
Ronnie Bell says
Awesome idea, Ex Staff.
Jane Doe says
Dan Koon and Ex Staff, this is a great idea. Let’s DO advertise heavily. While any one of us may not have the money to place ads like this, if we pull together, and pool our money we can buy billboards, bus signs, maybe even radio and TV ads too. Now is the time to start sending the message that they can get the Bridge outside the church for a fraction of the cost and no squirreling at all. There will be a mass exodus now that the insanity of GAG II is becoming known. But they have to have some place to leave “to.” Let’s open course rooms, and get the show on the road and advertise to bring them over. It needs to be done.
Unex Skcus says
“Real Scientology” ??? That’s an oxymoron.

Anon says
When I was 8 years old, I spent an entire Saturday building a Lego mansion. I read the plans by myself and meticulously placed each tiny piece until the final project was done. I was so proud of myself to sit back and enjoy my hard work paid off, and had thoughts of asking my parents for another BIGGER set for Christmas.
I went downstairs for a few minutes to tell my mom, and when I went back up to my room, I saw my entire masterpiece shattered across the carpet, and my little brother sitting there smiling up at me.
I was devastated for days. I had never before had the thought that someone would do that to me. And that was the last time I ever touched Legos.
It’s not easy to train to be an auditor. And there are some really caring individuals out there who dedicate their lives to helping others. I’m sure if DM storms in, as planned, and proverbially shatters their certs, some auditors may never tough their Legos again. And the anons can finally go on vacation.
Gayle aka TroubleShooter says
What a great analogy Anon. This has happened now in large numbers at least twice – the early 80s when the first mass exodus occurred and so many auditors never touche a meter again while some of the die-hards kept going and again with the advent of GAT when the auditors around the world had by demand from the top had their certs suspended until doing the “new GAT”. I’m certain that this will result in another new wave of exiting auditors as well as those staff and public who see it for what it is and call bullshit on it and leave.
cre8tivewmn says
Wow. I expected a cash grab, but this is really something. Did he announce this Friday? And people were excited? It’s hard for this never-in to believe nobody was doing the math.
I understand crowd reactions can carry everyone along but this is expensive.
Idle Morgue says
‘Number of times over = BRAINWASHING’! Of course, they have to pay for it again and again and again…this ensures a “righteousness” that the tech works…get them heavily invested.
So many more will leave the Cult of Scientology!
Thank you David Miscavige – you could not destroy Scientology any faster. Well done SIR!

Psychosis breeds psychosis. You play in that world you get that world. This is all sad, but also quite inevitable.
Penny says
Unbelievable. Prediction: Mass exodus. Apparently, the only stat going up is DM’s insanity, which appears to be reaching a high crescendo! I think when people really get this, they will walk.
Zana says
I hope so. I know a number of people who have destroyed their families and thrown out spouses, etc., will have to be “right”. They might go down with the ship. Hopefully, the ones who are smelling some poop hidden under the couch will at last move the furniture and find out once and for all what that stink is.
Gatchild says
This isn’t a prediction, it’s what is happening currently.
After the event, eight of us went out for a drink at Tony’s.
Pretty much everyone was of the same mind: We’re not re-doing anything. We went through hell in GAT, and nothing has changed enough this time to warrant a re-train.
As one friend put it, “There’s no way I’m paying for RTC’s overt product.”
Still On Your Side says
If there is a mutiny caused by members “voting with their feet,” i.e., if people just don’t show up to re-do anything, I don’t think anything will change. The number of members has been dropping for years, and fewer and fewer people are being squeezed for greater and greater amounts of money. Miscavige has lied about this and made up stories about the “greatest expansion ever.” Miscavige will continue to lie until there is only a handful of people left and he is boarding a plane for Uruguay.
Gatchild says
Just to be clear, the public are not hearing the “have to re-do everything” spiel yet. EU hasn’t gotten the programs yet, nor has ANZO. Talked to friends from both conts after their local events.
So, you have a few fringers showing up just to see what all the fuss is about. Once they start getting the message about their certs being cancelled (as one very knowledgeable friend said) “They will have a very hard time getting people into the org, but I don’t believe they’re having you re-train everything… that’s just nuts!”
Scott Campbell says
If that’s not a violation of the affluence attainment formula I don’t know what is!
Forrest Crane says
Well yea, what caused the straight up and vertical? GAG I. So, let’s repeat the successful action, GAG II.
