The latest scientology/Nation of Islam collaboration front group activity.
This “United in Peace Day” is being promoted in scientology circles as the “first public recognition of TWTH’s role in producing LA’s historic drop in crime” (what do they put in the water in scientology buildings?)
And here is the “Confidential” briefing about this event (I wonder why this is confidential?)
Of course, like everything else in scientology, it is a pitch for money… It is such a vital and important activity, but not a penny of the hundreds of millions of dollars vacuumed up by the IAS could be invested in buying WTH booklets to distribute. Nope, we will use it to get MORE money.
Here is a link for the website for United In Peace.
Of course there is no mention of scientology or Nation of Islam on the website, though Tony Muhammad features in the “What People Say” as the “Founder” along with “Reverend” Alfreddie Johnson (though he is NOT a “scientology minister”) as one of the “Co-Founders”. How is Tony the Founder if there are other co-Founders? Doesn’t it by definition make him a “Co-founder” too? Maybe the others are “Assistant Founders” or “Deputy Founders”? Whatever, not the strangest thing about this affair by any means.
Here are the excerpts from their website.
But this is where it gets interesting.

Why is scientology not making itself known in this effort?
If there IS some sort of “recognition” about the TWTH role in reducing crime in LA then you can bet the church is going to shout it from the rooftops.
Why are they not up front — out loud and proud? After all, scientology is experiencing it’s most massive growth ever and its popularity today is unsurpassed at any time in its history? So, why not say this is an initiative of the Church of Scientology Celebrity Centre and identify Alfreddie Johnson as “IAS Freedom Medal Winner”?
And I will repeat the same thing I have said numerous times, just because it bears repeating.
If The Way To Happiness is SO effective in improving conditions and has so dramatically reduced crime in Los Angeles, what the hell is going on that scientology is not spending a few MILLION dollars distributing it to everyone in LA, California, the entire United States. If they truly have the answer why not give it to EVERYONE? Instead of begging for more money to add to the billion dollars they have already collected?
As someone emailed me this week on a different subject: WTHTWTH?
indie8million says
When I was still going to events, I went to one with Mr. Tony Mohammed speaking. There was a full house in the Quad at ASHO and everyone seemed so happy to have him there, deigning to speak to us.
I had heard about Louis Farrakhan coming in a few weeks earlier and I looked up some videos on youtube. It was a facepalm moment. “What are they thinking??” Controversial Scientology aligning with the radical Nation of Islam? My thought was, “I don’t know who is going to get the worse end of the bad PR stick on this arrangement. Scientology connects with radial Islam or The Nation of Islam pushes Miscavige’s cult of Scientology.”
indie8million says
And certain of those in the NOI are none to happy that Brother Farrakhan is making an FSM commission on everyone he brings in.
A little lengthy but you can really see what the NOI traditionalists think about having Scientology shoved down their throats for a profit.

Now that all those who used to ‘deliver’ services in the clampire are looking for work, one place to go is the ‘social betterment’ side of the scam. It is only a short walk from selling Clear and the Basics to selling ‘The Way To Happiness’. Never mind the fact that the markup on services was 100% of cost, the cost of TWTH is marked up only 80%. A slight improvement, but still an improvement.
Watch for more of these to pop up, the clampire used to be good at events. They made good money on them but seem to have lost the touch and the audience. While I don’t doubt that LA has a gang problem, the cartels in Mexico and Columbia and kidnapping gangs in Nicaragua and Brazil and other places beat them hands down.
Anyone who thinks that handing out pamphlets is going cure a gang problem is just stupid enough to believe in the wit and wisdom of LRon Hubbtard.
Cars says
Just a few observations about today’s post.
1. The United in Peace Foundation doesn’t hide its connection to scientology very well if you know about the “chult’s” front groups. By going to ABLE dot org, the Tony Muhammad’s new “movement” and its Peace Rides are listed on the front page, bold and upfront. United in Peace has a sister website, UPFest dot org.
NOI, with its United in Peace Foundations is learning the chult’s modus operandi well. It is not only riding on it’s own coattail and resurrecting the spirit of Farrakhan’s 1995 Million Man March but, as is typical of the chult, it has appropriated the name and reputation of Peace Rides from elsewhere and called it its own. Remember the “new” Voice for Humanity logo and flier Mike published recently? I don’t know how well copyright protected the original Voice for Humanity and the Peace Rides are, but apparently the idea is to try to get away with intellectual property theft and accompanying goodwill until they are Sued for Peace.
Just a superficial search for the origins of Peace Rides brought up the following: “Riding for Peace and Justice – Tony Coleman, founder of Bikes 4 Life and a longtime community organizer, started the Peace Rides in 2008 when he noticed more young people of color cycling (…) Nonviolence is a prominent theme of the Peace Rides but not the only one. “Poverty is violence and we want to stop that,” says Coleman. Moreover, urban cyclists see themselves as contributing to reducing pollution. Also, the Peace Rides engage folks who, according to Coleman, “may not have thought about being political, but wanted to come out for a ride.”
In January 2010, Coleman opened the B4L shop in West Oakland, which serves neighborhood residents by selling affordable, quality used bikes and offering repair services. (…) B4L displays a distinct hip-hop flavor and a strong commitment to justice as reflected in the posters from activist campaigns dating back a decade (..)’
Other groups of which motorcycles and vintage cars clubs have also used the term “Peace Rides.” It looks like some of these kinds of local clubs of car and bike enthusiasts have joined up with United in Peace or the idea behind older/original Peace Rides has at least. Does the chult (and dare I say it, its founder?) have any original ideas of its own?
2. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PjvZZ41Ejho This YouTube video shows Tony Muhammad giving a talk in an org someplace (see logo on wall and scientology cross on podium) and, at 0:20 secs, you can hear him talk about Hubbard’s Third Party Law and how that “law” operates in all conflict and war (even marital discord!). For anyone familiar with the Chult of Scientology of complicity, that’s 3 “tells” within 20 secs of viewing
3. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QRTq9ZCjOEo This second video is taken from the United in Peace day in July 2013. I bring this one up because I had to laugh at the 3:55 mark where the videographer spotted a drone approaching over the stand where status awards and self-congratulatory photos were being taken of T. Muhammad with a big donor and various LA politicians. All focus suddenly goes to the drone from that point on and the awardees and speakers are ignored. I’m sure a little frisson of apprehension and paranoia went through the audience when it was first spotted. Might as well have law enforcement helicopters hovering above and search lights going over a group of black folks, especially those living under the “protection” of the LA police department and especially those who are trying to deal with issues of gang violence and trying to build a coalition with them. I don’t know about anyone else, but my suspicions would be at all time high if I were in a crowd trying to organize a new movement and saw an undentified drone appear overhead, no matter what side of the issue I was on or from what ethnic group!
It made me wonder if it was the same one that hovered over the re-re-re-opening of PAC Base that one of the protestors videotaped. If you continue to the 4:15 mark in this second video and can read lips, I believe one of the group organizers on stage reassures the others that the drone, “Is ours. It’s ours.” Hmmm…. I wonder if the requested donation for $30,000 – 63,000 is to buy other “necessities,” such as more drones or if NOI bought this one from the chult (wholesale price, of course!) or rents it from them. Google (drone maker) and the CoS have been chummy of late, too. Another hmmm…
OK, taking off my tinfoil hat now.
4. For the activists and letter writers amongst us, who want to educate the LA politicians, council persons, or police departments about the hidden CoS connection, contact names and/or info of the opinion leaders on stage are listed under the More section of some the videos about last year’s Peace Ride and also in the About sections of the United in Peace Foundation website.
One of Mike’s special correspondent wrote “WTHTWTH.” I would also ask TWTHWTF?!
LDW says
And, speaking of the Way to Happiness…I couldn’t help noticing from the photographs of the most important event in the history of the universe over in England, that the protesters seemed to be much happier than the attendees.
tony-b says
Comment on LDW;s – I know it is off topic but TonyO’s site is fantastic for so many belly laughs today. Waking Miscavige up early saturday from his single malt stupor after getting perhaps 3000 people there on Friday (including extras I assume) when he had commanded 10000 was a brilliantly executed ploy by the people who had no-doubt commanded should be nowhere near. Isn’t it interesting to see the police not being bought as they can be in LA and Clearwater? Monty Python would be proud by the whole thing. No more big events at Insanity Hill that’s for sure.
TerrilPark says
I was one of the protesters. I wrote this below up. I neglected
to factor in taxi cab drops, which at a guess would add 500 or so
to totals. Some of the protesters got inside the gate and photo’s
have appeared on ESMB and some video will also appear.
“There was a fun successfull protest at the IAS event at St Hill
yesterday. A group of Exes, never ins, Old Guard, anons and
a freezoner picketed outside the gates yesterday. The police
were very friendly and helpful, especially 2 attractive female
officers, one of whom was the Sargent in charge. Previously
we had to stand opposite the gates which was uncomfortable
and unsafe as the CO$ had planted a row of trees which took
up what little space there was on that side of the road. IIRC
this was because CO$ members wanted us on that side of
the road. There are no pavements that side and we found out
yesterday that this narrow road had a 60mph speed limit! The
female Sargent told us to stay on the St Hill side of the road
which had a reasonably wide footpath and this allowed us to
move around, stretch our legs and above all be much safer.
I guess the moral is that if you send a woman to do a man’s
job you get better results.
I found out some interesting facts re the Sussex police. 43%
of sargents are woman, and our rep is that we are a well
behaved fun group to be with. If its not fun its not protesting
CO$.
The main topic for slogans shouted to attendees centered on
financial matters. ” Don’t take your wallets in”, ” Don’t give them
any money”, ” It all goes in Micaviges pocket”, ” Then there was
” CO$ is a Church of enforced abortions”. ” Its a suppressive act
to combine 2 orgs like LA”. ” Narconon will be thrown under the
bus”. “I’d dusted off my 7 year old posters and usually told
attendees ” Scientology outside the Church costs a fraction of
inside the Church.”
One anon estimated that we had caused a need for £ 2,000,000
worth of repair auditing. Well he wasn’t a fully hatted C/S, and
niether am I, but I think we should also consider £3,000,000
worth of sec checks. ” Did you read any of the posters?” “Do you
have similar thoughts yourself?”. ” Are you disaffected with COB?”
We tried to estimate numbers attending. There was 4-500 cars
in the car parks, only 6 coaches and maybe 50-100 arriving on
foot. Looks like around 2000 in total.
Two things struck me as odd. Most people arrived near the start
of the event at 7pm, I think that is different to previous times.
Perhaps minimizing face time with reg’s? Also very many attendees
smiled at us and our posters and slogans. Seemed very genuine
friendly smiles to me. I’m not sure what to make of that.”
Mike Leopold says
The only way that Scientology will be able to get the PR and photo-ops here, is through a massive campaign of deception and obfuscation.
Scientology has always been about creating illusion over substance and this is more proof of that sad fact.
The Nation of Islam which has denied the existence of slavery in the Sudan, supported dictators like Mugabe and Khaddafi, and is a vile, racist, anti-Semitic organization has found a worthy partner in Scientology, and the “alliance” between Miscavige and Farrakhan is reminiscent of an earlier one; that between Stalin and Hitler. And we know how that one ended.
Chee chalker says
Didn’t LRH state that the Prophet Muhammad was a memory implant? I wonder if NOI members realize that…..
hgc10 says
It’s a business arrangement. No one cares.
McCarran says
I heard that NOI bought that Applied Scholastic property in St. Louis?
Cooper J Kessel says
Maybe they will set up an ISIS training camp.
Chee chalker says
I agree that it was a business arrangement for the NOI management, but I think the rank and file NOI Muslims would be pretty peeved off to find out that LRH thought their prophet was make believe
Shelley says
I cannot fathom this NOI and SCN collaboration.
Having watched a lot of Farrakhan’s speeches and interviews I am quite frankly horrified. He is a racist of the highest order, incites xenophobia and skates very close to outright hate-speech against anyone who is not a Black Islamic Extremist. He hates whites (which happens to be the majority race representing SCN on this planet), Jews, Christians – you name it. His list of PIA (people I hate) is long and downright scary.
This reminds me of the time in apartheid South Africa (circa late 70’s) when the GO decided it was a “bright idea” to issue a press release which they delivered to the Sowetan newspaper (the most widely distributed and read black newspaper in South Africa).
Penned by none other than Anne Hogarth (now in OSA), the article painted Archbishop Desmond Tutu as a criminal terrorist. Just a few years later he became a Nobel Peace laureate and is revered as being THE hero of peacefully ending apartheid in South Africa – probably second only to Nelson Mandela in that particular hall of fame.
The Sowetan never forgave the Church for this and to this very day won’t touch anything that vaguely “smells” of SCN. A few years ago I did a collaborative expose with a Sowetan journo on one of the worst Psych hospitals in this country – it went along ok initially and we even got front-page coverage, but on following up, one of the senior Editors found out I was connected to RCS and they dropped me like a hot potato, emphatically explaining they wanted nothing to do with RCS. It was only then that I found out how the Church had blotted their copybook 3 decades earlier. Talk about a nuclear foot-bullet.
Why the RCS would want to be associated with the NOI movement boggles the mind, but somewhere down the chain I reckon you will find the reason – $$$$$.
LDW says
On the flip side, Shelley, there’s a certain push with NOI to have their people take responsibility for familial obligations and be responsible with their money. That begs the question of why would NOI want to be associated with Co$?
Cooper J Kessel says
Because they share a common belief that the religion supersedes the family.
Son, you have a chance to achieve spiritual nirvana and spend the rest of your eternity with vestal virgins the likes of which you have never seen or even imagined here on Earth. Now, strap on this vest.”
I Yawnalot says
I hadn’t much bothered to look at the NOI & the Cof$. I just accepted anything the Co$ was involved in was money orientated and deceptive. But I had a bit of a look and a horrible dark thought emerged regarding the concept of a cleared cannibal. If you’ve studied a bit you’ll know what that means – certain things can and will morph into something completely unintended & different without Qual.
“God (and I use that word very loosely) help us.”
I Yawnalot says
The way to money (TWTM)… it creeps and slithers into everything that organisation does. By their own tech/policy; in that having to seek admiration for one’s own acts is actually a bad indicator. If you’re really serious about helping people and improving conditions = you just do it! Admiration flowing back on its own accord will happen if you do the right thing and it is successful. Even the most basic of basic business models would show that if the TWTH booklets were as successful as they make out they would be ordered and distributed by the real achievers and well intentioned people who actually do things about society’s problems. BUT the TWTH booklets have been around for many years and still the Cof$ has to demand admiration AND MONEY, LOTS and LOTS OF OUT OF EXCHANGE MONEY for them. To wake up and smell the coffee is beyond anything the Cof$ is capable of – they just don’t get it. Blindly & repeatedly demanding/coercing money without exchange is criminal and to do so under the mantel of help is disgusting. While what’s in the TWTH is not at issue it has the Cof$’s smell all over it & they killed off any possible good will they ever had with the likes of miscavige at the helm. That guy is a real piece of work.
Geezes, trying to follow what the Cof$ actually does is a lesson in repeated stupidity. Soltan Gris (a play on the words salt & grease), a fictional character in the Mission Earth novel series by Hubbard has got to be the new poster boy for them by now. He showed what unlimited money, bad intentions and stupidity will do. The quicker that organisation self-implodes the better.
Rekindling a failed purpose is a good tech, but keep in mind that miscavige doesn’t have any failed purposes.
jennisi says
Did you notice they misspelled the name “Trayvon Martin”? They spelt it “Treyvon,” with an e. I am offended that the C of S couldn’t take the trouble to get his name right.
Cooper J Kessel says
Don’t take it too hard. He who is that is offensive really could care less about who they might offend! They don’t give a Daveshit about you or your feelings. I’m sure this is not new news.
Old Surfer Dude says
They get EVERYTHING wrong day in and day out. EVERYTHING! This is THE most incompetent group of people I’ve ever been aware of. Stupid runs through their collective DNA…That’s what happens when you live in a bubble.
Espiando says
They also said that Ferguson was in Illinois when it’s in Missouri.
Old Surfer Dude says
I’m surprised that they haven’t said they “handled” ISIS by handing out WTH booklets! The ONLY thing good about this juvenile booklet, is being recycled when EVERYONE throws them away.
Potpie says
Using the term “murdered” in the Martin and Brown situations is obviously
said to get the attention of their intended “market” for this event.
I doubt that they could give a shit about those two situations.
Certainly in line with their begging for $ when the IAS is loaded.
They will say anything to magnify the moment.
Draco is right….the IAS could comfortably finance this whole thing
with just the interest earned on their many millions stashed away.
And please, I’m saying the above to start a long thread on whether
those two boys were murdered or not. It is just an example of what
these vultures will say to stir the pot and get as much as attention as
they can.
Potpie says
I ment to say….I’m not saying the above to start a long thread…..
Cars says
+1 ^^^^ I had the same thought, too, about how they were using (and abusing) and manipulating these deaths for sensational self-promotion and getting the community and the media’s attention for their own nefarious, self-serving cause. Shame on them! Unfortunately, they have none.

Interesting questions, I don’t have an answer to some of them even though I could imagine some sort of vested interest or whatever.
As far as this question you posed: “make him a “Co-founder” too?”, the answer could be ‘makes him an IDEAL Founder”.
Anyway, thank you for the posting Mike.

Yeah, It’s a big secret,Confidential, elite members only meeting, just for YOU.
We are getting money from this impressive list of donors,
NOW IT’S YOUR TURN IN THE BARREL PUNK !
This comes straight from the top, YSCOHB
Show me that credit card now.
McCarran says
I know! This made me wonder if there was some sort of survey done that showed that more people donate more if they are privileged enough to be shown something “Confidential.”
Cooper J Kessel says
I think it worked for the cult in promoting the OT levels for many years. It is a secret that only the elite can grok and then, only after extensive lightening of the wallet to make it just that much easier to reach your OT escape velocity. Also, it only works if you believe the storyline. Lack of faith in the storyline = pts or sp = reason why YOU don’t get it.
Handle for the sit:
1) go straight to ethics
2) buy as many intensives of sec checking as possible
3) return to ethics and pay for your sins
4) start over on the bridge beginning at the purif
5) believe the confidential shit this time ……. or else.
6) try and have a nice life and above all “flourish and prosper” while you SCOHB with Dear Leader
Hallie Jane says
I know Jose. I can’t tell you how many of these secret, confidential, only the cool beautiful people meetings that I’ve been invited to or heard about. In the 90’s in the LA area, there were the cool jet setters that went back and forth to flag, and would talk about how fab the briefings were, but wouldn’t tell me what they were about. I couldn’t afford flag so I wasn’t privy, but it was usually intimated that dm was saving the world in some way. Barf.
Robinbin says
My advertising and marketing background got the better of me this morning, in large part because it seemed unlikely that the claims of “biggest”, “most-listened-to” (and others), were true.
As a precursor: the link to the website from Mike’s blog didn’t work for me, so I wound up Googling “United for Peace”. I found a site that was active a year ago, connected with an entity named “UpFest”. That link is http://upfest.org/united-in-peace-festival/about-upfest/. In the “About” section, there’s information on the history of the Peace Rides, as well as mention of the Nation of islam and The Way to Happiness.
ON “Gang Capital”:
From a look at today’s LAPD website: http://www.lapdonline.org/get_informed/content_basic_view/1396.
No mention of Peace Rides.
http://www.streetgangs.com/lies/are-we-the-gang-capital-of-the-world#sthash.ZNZyxAPA.dpbs:
Excerpt: The lie I heard was by 790 KABC host Kevin James that Los Angeles is the “gang capital of the world” which is completely untrue. There are so many countries that are plagued with more violent gang activity throughout the world such as Jamaica, South Africa, El Salvador, and Brazil to name a few. Of course he cites absolutely no person or offers no statistics on that claim, but many of his listeners most likely believe this false statement. Although I have used the phrase, “gang capital of the country,” I say this with 100% certainty that Los Angeles is not the “gang capital of the world” and anyone who says so is either ignorant or spewing propaganda.
ON Los Angeles being the third largest economic metropolis:
http://www.theatlantic.com/business/archive/2012/05/what-is-the-worlds-most-economically-powerful-city/256841/
Los Angeles isn’t on list of top 10 cities with global economic power. The third in that category is London.
ON “United in Peace” as of July, 2013 (from the “UpFest” link)
This is an excerpt from the “About” section, as of July 2013. Note mention of the Nation of Islam, there were over 80 biking and car clubs at the time, the agenda is parallel to that of the upcoming October 2014 event, there’s mention of TWTH (as well as other materials), and the promoters are social media and two radio stations (KJLH and Power 106).
“United in Peace was started and is lead by Minister Tony Muhammad of the Nation of Islam with the support of Power 106 DJ, Big Boy and Rev. Alfreddie Johnson of the True Faith Christian church. It now counts amongst its multi-racial participants over 80 biking and car clubs, most of the gang intervention groups in the city including Ceasefire, as well as a wide variety of other community leaders, groups and congregations.
The festival’s concert will be hosted by Big Boy and features a line-up of hip-hop and R&B acts from Kam (of Da Lench Mob) to Overdoz and Medusa with Grammy-award winning jazz legend, Stanley Clarke closing the event. Between performances, United in Peace will honor “Peace Makers” in the city, remember the victims of gun violence and present the United in Peace program including the materials the Peace Rides has been distributing throughout Los Angeles over the last 10 months – a pledge for greater personal and societal responsibility from the Million Man March and the non-religious, common-sense guide to better living, The Way to Happiness. The festival will include activities for children such as bouncy-houses and face-painting. In the weeks leading up to the event, United in Peace has been promoting the event with handouts, over social media and on the airwaves of KJLH and Power 106. The invitation for the free event and concert has been extended to anyone and everyone in the community who wishes to participate in a family-friendly event to help promote and foster greater unity and peace in Los Angeles and surrounding cities.”
ON Power 106 – 105.9 FM
The call letters for 105.9 are KPWR (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KPWR).
Per the Neilsen ratings (http://ratings.radio-online.com/cgi-bin/rol.ese/arb003), KPWR is third on the list; KJLH — also mentioned on the United in Peace 2013 website) is way down the list.
Mike Rinder says
OK, that is some serious good work Robin! 🙂
No surprise. I don’t think the people that write the begging emails, promotion and speeches have EVER checked a fact. If they happened to [mis]hear something once and it suits their purpose, they roll with it. And the reason they do is that none of the sheeple EVER call them on it. They just buy anything they say on the basis that “this is the most ethical organization in the universe, they would not lie.”
Ha…
McCarran says
Robinbin, Good comment. There is an inference that the church makes here that the “Historic drop in crime” is because of TWTH campaign. I cry BS on this too, but honestly have enough faith in people to believe that not too many buy this.
Starlight says
L.A. isn’t even the gang capital of California. OAKLAND, baby….
Smokey says
Nice job Robin.
I’ll add one more, on the claim that over the past 30 years gang related murders are 3Xs greater than the number of American deaths for all wars fought over the past 3 decades. Not true. I didn’t dig around to much to verify the accuracy of the 25,000 figure or what they included as gang related murders. I just went one site and totaled the figures for the years 1980-2012 (missing data for 2010 and 2013) and found the total of gang related homicides in all of LA jurisdictions to be less than 10,000 (9,559). Since 1990 American deaths in war total 13,834. Even giving them an extra decade of gang related homicides compared to war casualties there are still more casualties due to war then gang related homicides. Never mind the ridiculous claim that gang murders are 3Xs greater.

If The Way to Happiness really works to cure insanity and crime, then why doesn’t the criminal out exchange IAS and more importantly the ragingly insane David Miscavige cure themselves with this book? When I see that occur, then I will believe the hype. Or not.
Zola says
I actually like the booklet, but the church has it all mixed up with hallucinatory cause. And, they fail to apply it themselves but feel they are on high moral ground because they dish it out to others.

Yea, I really like that booklet too. I don’t know what I would have done without “LRH” telling me that I need to brush my teeth.

Once I had to buy 50 booklets “The Way to Happiness” .. 30 years ago .. I gave it out to my friends and the family .. I am the only one who has read it, my mother and my aunt has it still in a lower drawer, but had never time to read it ..
As a good disseminator I have asked for a respond .. most of all did throw it in the waste .. went for some seconds over its contents .. then down in the trash .. end of cycle .. bought never again this stuff ..
Basically everybody learns this stuff in school .. called ethics or religion .. one or the other .. getting a booklet about from scientology was not accepted .. not really .. do not really grasp the concept that a criminal will stop doing so because of this booklet ..
McCarran says
TWTH is YAS (Yet Another Scam).
Cooper J Kessel says

cre8tivewmn says
Exactly!
tony-b says
Friend you are dead right when you say most of us learn this stuff in school…… They are the basic rules of living together and any human who is raised in a nurturing environment learns and uses them – well let’s say 98.5555% of humans.. No need to refer to the 10 commandments or The Way. I was passing the local org and they had a small table with free personality test “coupons” and a copy of TWTH on it that said “To you from us” handwritten on the cover.. No scientologists are proud to be near the front door these days . The few people going there rush in quickly and disappear or maybe sneak in/out the backdoor. There was a chair so I sat down and started to read. I got the drift from scanning so I didn’t have to read much. A woman who identified herself as a minister came out and asked me how I was enjoying TWTH. She took the book and said the thing she liked best about it was a line on the title page that said something like “because we care about your eternity”. She asked me what I thought and I said not a lot as it was all common sense. I said it also disturbed me why scientology lives up to hardly any of these things. She said of course they did, this was one of their basic belief texts. And I had made a generalisation that I didn’t know anything about. I challenged her to open it anywhere and she did and I read to her the LRH words of wisdom on that page which happened to be about respecting children and gave her an earful about abortions, child indoctrination and child slave labour. She snatched the pamphlet up and said I was brainwashed which I though was hilarious coming from her, and went back inside.
statpush says
So, let me see if I have this right…
Power 106 FM, City and Community, motorcycle and car clubs, etc all appear to be donating their time and/or money to the “cause”. And when it comes to the church – nope – “That’ll be $1.00 per booklet, please.” 30-63k for a large organization is peanuts, so why go to your members with cap in hand?
Can’t they simply just do a good deed, then have the PR department disseminate that news as they see fit? Why do they HAVE TO get paid for every little act of kindness? This is an organization that PRETENDS to be charitable.
It is like they’re fixated on the conditions of exchange to the point where they won’t lift a finger unless the cash is on the table. However, internally they don’t have a problem with slave labor and human trafficking.
And if anything good happens to come out of the activity, you can bet the church will be there to take the credit – regardless of their contribution.
Think about it, if you had a friend or acquaintance who behaved this way, would have that friend for very long? I don’t think so. Your friends and family would say “what’s with that guy?” or “why do you hang around with that jerk?” or “something just isn’t right with that guy.” Eventually you would come to the point where being connected to this “friend” is just too much work and not worth the effort; that this “friend” isn’t a friend at all, but a millstone with destructive psychological issues.

Google “Peace Rides”…surprise, surprise, the only hits you will get are church-backed web sites. No major news coverage. Ho hum. This is so lame it’s barely worth spending time on debunking.
As you note, RCS is experiencing its greatest wave of expansion – ever, and this is the best they can come up with? All this indicates to me is that Scn’s influence on the world at large is a BIG FAT ZERO.
Old Surfer Dude says
Actually, statpush, in my opinion, it’s less than a BIG FAT ZERO. Their reputation is so vile and toxic, their so called influence is negative. By their actions, they are repelling people away. If we take zero as a base to start from, they’re so far down in the negative sphere, they can’t even see the sunshine anymore.
AND, they’re the laughing stock of the world! This is what I love the most as they just HATE being laughed at!

If The Way To Happiness is SO effective in improving conditions and has so dramatically reduced crime in Los Angeles, what the hell is going on that the city itself doesn’t feel it’s worth coming up with the 30k-63k they’re begging for here? Seems like it would be a pretty good and cheap investment for them if they really think TWTH is the reason.

For those who have not read it yet, I thoroughly recommend the book “Farrakhan, The Movie: Now Playing in Print” by Leila Wills. And don’t miss the one negative review on amazon.com (print edition) which reads like the classic Co$ putdown of critical efforts.

Leila Wills is very brave. And the book is a great read.

“If The Way To Happiness is SO effective in improving conditions and has so dramatically reduced crime in Los Angeles, what the hell is going on that scientology is not spending a few MILLION dollars distributing it to everyone in LA, California, the entire United States.”
If CoS invested the IAS money in an interest bearing account, they could use just the interest to bring about worldwide peace. This is dependent of course on TWTH actually being able to create the effect they say it does. Can you imagine – peace in the Middle East, peace in Asia, peace in Africa, peace in Europe, peace in the UK and USA and peace in China. Who doesn’t want this?
It would appear Davey doesn’t.
