I made a comment at the end of a post a few days ago about a Freedom Medal winner claiming that the situation in the Ukraine and in Venezuela was “confusion blowing off” in the wake of GAG II.
Then I received a new promotional piece from WTH Fdn asking for money for WTH for Crimea.
The bubble-dwellers literally never see anything happen in the world that cannot be twisted into a request for money. It is amazing.
The first outness is that IF it was truly IAS Freedom Medal winners who calmed down the scene in the earlier revolution (which goes unmentioned as it was soon replaced by the re-elected pro-Russian government they had “overthrown” in the “Orange Revolution” , now to be “overthrown” once again) then where the hell is the IAS now? Why isnt the IAS airlifting millions of copies of the WTH to Ukraine for urgent distribution? Surely they could fork over a few bucks out of their billion dollar “war chest” to bring peace to Ukraine. And Venezuela….
OK, forget the IAS.
But why are WTH Fdn charging 30 cents a booklet? With NO discounts? Doesnt seem very humanitarian to be making a profit on such a disaster? They have their own printing presses in the basement of the WTH building that sit idle. There is the “massive international dissemination center” just a few miles away with the ability to print millions of pages for virtually the cost of the paper. Same with Bridge. So, why charge 3 times what it costs to print a booklet? Sort of exposes the lie that the motivation has anything to do with helping anyone. It is just “stats.”
But it IS an EMERGENCY.
Now, here are the dox on the Freedom Medal winner on Facebook. With some help from one of our Hungarian Special Correspondents, here is the story and translations.
His name is Akos Kunfalvy and he was awarded it in 2008 for founding an organization called “Drugfree Marathons for Hungary” in 2002. It was basically a lite version of Narconon drug education lectures. They were running around in Hungarian villages and smaller town, holding drug education lectures and getting kids to pledge to be Drugfree Marshals. They also “safepointed” school principals, mayors, police officers etc with Ron magazines and the Portrait book. His original idea was to counter the massive amount of negative publicity Scientology faced in Hungary.
The Marathon was surprisingly effective – Ákos was a recognized fencer in Hungary as well as a poet, so he knew a lot of pro athletes and also knew quite some of the famous actors in Hungary. He was able to rally OLs to support the Marathon, which in turn led to schools organizing local events to aid the Marathon. Their actions were responsible for around 90% of all positive articles and media on Scientology.
After a few years, he got into a major fight with the then CO OSA Hungary, Lajos Fritzlauf over some allegedly misplaced IAS funds. He wrote a load of KRs which apparently vanished into thin air and at that point turned over the Marathon to Zoltán Soós, but remained on their org board as “Source” (literally).
At that time the local OSA office then put enormous pressure on them to do the Marathon in yellow VM shirts and be more open about the Scientology connection. This inevitably led to government scrutiny, negative media, OLs distancing themselves etc. so less and less schools were joining them each year (the Department of Education even instructed them no to), so it is now much more low key than it used to be.
Then in 2008, unexpectedly he got the Freedom Medal for his efforts (I think he was chosen as there were no better candidates), together with Zoltán and since then he is the local version of Jeff Pomerantz, fill time raising funds for the IAS.
That is the backstory.
Here you can see Akos on the left being presented with his medal:
Akos posing with the Poser:

Now, here is the connection, as Akos hits Facebook (translation follows):
There is a revolution in Venezuela. I spoke to people there, they said interesting things.
Ukrainians are also revolting. My wife just got there. The template is the same as in Venezuela!
What is happening?
What had to happen anyway, that is what’s happening.
Before order is created, a temporary disorder would come about while getting something in order. Everyone knows that who has ever made order in his room.
Is this happening on its own? Just by chance?
— a Hubbard quote from the 8th ACC regarding music, with this final sentence: “There is a fabulous thing – your ability is as good as you think you can create an effect and as well as the distance you think you can create that effect. Got it?
In November 2013, Mr. David Miscevige (sic!) has given us Golden Age of Tech Phase 2, the Super Power and Cause Resurgence Rundowns.
I wrote to you at that time that this planet would never be the same. This is what I meant!
You cannot miss this etc. (the rest is an invite to a local briefing in Super Power).
Akos hits it again, this time he has been in touch with his fellow Freedom Medal Winner and IAS Toady Valery Kokura:
I just spoke to my friend, Valery Kokura, who is the Manager of Kiev Mission and an OT VIII. He got the IAS Freedom Medal for his positive participation in the similar revolution that took place several years ago. He said to me that they already won but they need additional 100,000 The Way to Happiness booklets in Russian and Ukrainian. They need these very much!
I contacted IAS regarding this and TWTH International as well. Valery is in communication with the Sea Org base in Moscow and the local The Way to Happiness chapter. If anyone has any ideas, please let me know.
We are looking for ideas that are not connected to the IAS and the official TWTH organization.
We really need your help!
Obviously, the IAS, WTH Fdn and the “Sea Org Base in Moscow” were no help.
Apparently not important enough to devote any resources to.
But wow — what an opportunity to make some cash all around!
Disaster Capitalism at its most cynical.

Now if a plane dropped all of the hardback Ron books down on the Russian army …
And Ukrainians are probably not any more revolting than the folks in some other countries I’ve been to …. (discretion keeps me from naming them here)
Taylor says
It is beyond any realm of reality to think that WTH booklets are going to be of any effect in the Ukraine.
For that matter can anyone name any long term program that Scientology has been a part of that has made any deep long lasting sociological impact in it’s history? Excluding of course any of their money making operations.
Scientology is a money making organization it is just about money. Yes lower income people can join the SO however they will probably never even reach the state of clear. Those who reach the higher levels either have money or are credit worthy enough to destroy their financial future.
Scientology is more closely by appearance very distantly related to the Eastern mind philosophies and teachings. However even Buddhist monks live extremely simple lives. They also do not charge hundreds of thousands of dollars to teach others to expand their levels of consciousness.
This soliciting funds for booklets instead of medicine, food, clothing etc is the personification of evil.

It is surprising that the 2nd photo with David Miscavige in the middle was allowed to be published with such a big hulk of a guy on the right hand side. Allowing a comparison of size is just not favorable for DM…

I completely agree with your post, as a matter of fact RT is the best channel news to get the Truth about what is REALLY going on in the world. They covered the invasion of Syria by cruel mercenaries sent and paid by Europe and the US. That was heartbreaking to watch.

I would also like to go on the record as stating that I think The Way To Happiness is a terrific little book. I’ve always liked it and found it to be altogether comforting, tactful and helpful common sense. That being said, I don’t believe that most people in a crisis situation are able – whether mentally, physically and /or emotionally to read it and have any cognitions about it.. I think that in order for someone to benefit from reading TWTH he would need to be able and willing to read anything, to be fairly well fed, and not stressed or hugely PTP’d in any way. Under those conditions I’m all for lots of people being given the WTH. Its like food – one can be given nourishing food but if one’s system is for any reason unable to digest it then its wasted. I don’t think that people in extreme crisis situations can “digest” TWTH’s “nourishment”. That’s my opinion.

Very good point Aquamarine.

I agree with you totally AM.
Personally I think the last thing the person wants to read is a book on Moral Precepts while bullets are flying around and tank rounds and missiles are exploding in their vicinity.
I’d question the sanity of these crazy fucks who insisted on distributing books in a war zone or if I was in the Military or Intel I’d suspect a psyop in operation.
This whole idea on the scale of 1-10 on dumb, dumber, dumbest I’d say was at 11 with 15 to the moron who is distributing WTH with the flag of Ukraine in a Russian enclave.

For more information direct from the horse’s mouth, you can check out Zoltan Soos’s website where there is a page devoted to the Freedom Medal. According to him it’s been awarded to luminaries like Anne Archer, Kirstie Alley, Isaac Hayes, Chick Corea, John Travolta and Tom Cruise. So basically you’re a Scilon Celeb and you get one. What shit. FYI: in Hungary nobody knows who Kirstie, Anne or Isaac is. The direct link is http://sooszoltan.com/a-szabadsagerem/
At the top of the page, near his email address, is a link to a 2 day course he gives. This is for self-confident public speaking. I can’t be bothered to read it all, but no doubt it’s based on something/anything Scientology-based. I just noticed that the course already happened, whoops.
I scoured the site for some prices and found some. He offers a VIP course – the same as the 2-day communication course – but for only 12 people. The price is a whopping 120,000 HUF, which isn’t much for Americans (around $600). But in Hungary the average MONTHLY salary is 220,000 HUF, so it’s more than half the average monthly wage. Which is not cheap. If everyone comes, he makes 2.4M HUF, which is practically ONE YEAR’S AVERAGE salary in Hungary.
Anyway, the Soos Zoltan / Kunfalvy Akos duo are obiously big fish in Hungary’s veryvery small Scientology pond. And Soos Zoltan is a slick operator who is doing very well with these courses. I did notice that he makes very little reference to Scientology when it comes to selling his private courses. No doubt because Scientology has a bad name here also.

The first paragraph pretty much indicates that the person writing it is either a chump or is wittingly forwarding the State Department and CIA’s agitprop.
The scene is much more complicated than Putin “annexing” Crimea which has the Black Sea Fleet at Sevastopol.
Maybe Dave’s doing this on behalf of his “friends” who now have problems funding their vast National Security Complex with the loose of their favorite boogy man UBL terrorism has become less of a concern and so they probably want to start another cold war.
Issuing a WTH edition with the Ukrainian Flag on the cover in an area that is mostly Russian is definitely more of a provocation than it is pouring oil over troubled waters. That’s for sure.
Then of course there is the so called “revolution” in Venezuela which under Chavez was friendly toward Cuba that like the situation in Crimea has *CIA* written all over it.
All this in my opinion has made Scientology “distasteful by its invidious connection” to “warlike ends” as covered in the policy “Politics Freedom From”.
Not only that but as an earlier commenter wisely noted the Church seems to be trying to make money off this debacle by overcharging for these provocative Way to Happiness books like other “Disaster Capitalists” such as the arms industry and the banksters who finance wars and revolutions.
As far as color coded “revolutions” go this one could be called a “Green” Revolution as in the color of money.
A sad departure from the Church I used to know which under Mary Sue’s control tried to remain apolitical.
Now as far as I’m concerned it has become a wing of the State Department and CIA.
Probably the FSB suspects this as well which is why they are currently watching them like a hawk.
I would if I was in FSB CI.
Which doesn’t bode well for any Scientologists in Russia especially if the situation goes sideways in the Crimea.
But I guess the Church seems willing to make that sacrifice in order to get brownie points with the State Department and CIA.

I have this concept of the Church of Scientology as being the worst sort of ambulance chaser – looking forward to, depending upon and profiting from the unexpected tragedies of the world, exploiting the misery and misfortune of others as the sole sources of its enhancement. No longer ready, willing or able to engage in actual exchange, the Church of Scientology is now a bona fide Chaos Merchant. Sad.

Off the subject, but does anyone know what happened to The Pro TRs Film with Dan Koon? I heard it’s not being used.
plainoldthetan says
“Church” films with disaffected declared apostates in them were pulled from orgs pending “reshooting”. Michael Fairman’s films are gone, as is Larry Anderson’s Orientation film.
Of course, as Mike tells us, in Miscavige’s world the good is the enemy of the perfect. Anything being “reshot” is getting shot, and shot, and shot, and redone, and edited, and shot, and redone until his Most Seniorest of the Seniorest C/Ses, the untrained David Miscavige gives his okey-dokey on it.
It’s like the OEC volumes 1-7. We’d have had new OEC volumes a decade ago if the table of contents, ink color, type face, font size, and binding colors could be decided on by Miscavige.
And no one else is allowed to decide what’s in each OEC volume, heaven forbid!
Shelly Miscavige, bless her, waited until Miscabbage was out of town to finish some renovations on the Int Base and fill in the Int org board, things that Miscabbage couldn’t make decisions about for decades. That got her stuck in the slammer, incommunicado after Miscabbage returned to Int and found out his indecision had been bypassed.
I predict it will take a upheaval in Int management, like the sudden hospitalization of Miscrabby, for the films to get done. And that’s only if someone at Int is willing to risk lifelong incarceration when Miscrabby returns.
Joe Pendleton says
We need to have an “Indie Scientology Film Festival” …. yeah, have the new stuff, like Karen’s videos, but bring back the oldies .. Fairman’s stuff, Joe Howard … and OF COURSE “The Secret of Flag Results” …. just one more time to see David Mayo looking out toward the horizon intoning “standard tech is standard tech.” Mayo can make an appearance too and do an interview on stage like Mitzi Gaynor does at a showing of one of her old movies. Heck, bring back Dan, Waldo, the whole bunch.

I personally think “Ukrainians are revolting” is a bit much. But compared with some of the writing that’s been displayed here, it’s Shakespearean. And I’ve also been informed by a friend who’s a specialist in ballistics (I write crime novels and he’s a pet expert) that twenty or thirty copies of a book the thickness of THE WAY TO HAPPINESS would absorb most of the penetrating power of a low- to medium-power bullet. So maybe they’re being worn inside the shirt, which would certainly be preferable to reading them.
But yeah, if they really gave a shit they’d put the book online so all could access it.

And they would never dream of putting TWTH on the internet so everyone can just read it for free because
a) that does not produce revenue and b) that would require an actual concern for the wellbeing of the Ukrainians. It would however produce a stat…..but not a stat-with-money-profit, and that is the whole point of the exercise.
I recently received an email from a friend in Ukraine – she said ” We look forward to seeing you one day in Kiev. Kiev is really beautiful between revolutions” she deadpanned.
plainoldthetan says
The Way to Happiness is already online for free. http://www.thewaytohappiness.org/thewaytohappiness.html
The problem, as you say, is that it doesn’t generate any pointless revenue being online for free.
And, as we all know out here in internet-land, putting something online is no guarantee that people will go look at it. (That’s ‘cuz we know “how internet works”.)
So the “church” can still generate revenue by the forcing the unwashed masses to heightened awareness of TWTH by shoving a copy under the noses of individuals.
More often than not, however, the only people who reach an incontrovertible state of awareness of TWTH are the garbage-men and sanitation workers who have to pick up and dispose of the discarded copies of TWTH off the street.
