Wins and Arbitraries
It's Saturday. Time for us to get our weekly dose of Terra Cognita. Fingers crossed for tonite. In case you are confused, there are TWO Emmy Award shows. The one today (and continuing tomorrow) is called the Creative Arts Emmy Awards and it includes many categories not considered "Prime Time" -- including documentaries as well as advances in sound editing and that sort of stuff. The "Big" or "Prime Time" Emmy show is next weekend and is broadcast live on CBS. This one is broadcast on FXX at 8pm tonite. Now, on with Terra. Wins and Arbitraries Lots of people have had wins in … [Read more...]
Regraded Being
RB has been forestalled by Irma. The RB family are fine. So we have a repeat installment this week (and for good measure I have added a bonus). But it says a lot about how timeless RB's strips are and how scientology cannot change that this could have been penned today. Insanity In Plain View Check this out. These are the people who confront and shatter suppression with the only true tech to save mankind. These are the people that proclaim themselves defenders of religious freedom (as long as it is their freedom that is in question). These are the people that rave … [Read more...]
Scientology’s Response to S2 Special Episode 1
As has become usual now, BEFORE the show finished airing scientology had a new webpage up attacking the contributors, and deployed their twitter and Facebook bots to announce to the world that the people who appeared on the show were some very bad hombres. Of course, nothing to respond to the CONTENTS of the show. That would not be scientology. Strictly ad hominem. And some of their ad hom is REALLY low, even for scientology. I had wondered whether they would focus on me and Leah due to the nature of the show. But they just couldn't resist going after Bruce Hines -- proclaiming him … [Read more...]
Scientology The Aftermath S2 Special 1: the Aftermath
A bit of a breather tonight. We have 5 "Special" episodes this season that will be interspersed with the "regular" episodes that recount more person stories. These episodes are intended to be more educational and explain some of the terminology and activities of scientology that are often touched upon in the main episodes. We began with a more detailed explanation of the Bridge. It is something we are asked about often and we touched on it in an episode in Season 1 where Leah and I spent a little time with one of the show producers explaining to him what the Bridge … [Read more...]
Harvey Update
With a lot of talk and emails and hype, the yellow shirts of the largest relief force on earth have not shown up on the radar in response to Hurricane Harvey. Here is the latest from the bubble. The first promotional item from the CO CLO WUS announces that there are less than 400 VM's (out of the 200,000 they claim to have) who have arrived to help with Hurricane Harvey. And of course that number of 400 is massively inflated -- but it is the HIGHEST it could possibly be (scientology math is something from another dimension... 12 Million scientologists, 200,000 VMs etc etc). You will note … [Read more...]
The OT Levels
Another provocative essay from long time commenter Brian Lambert THE OT LEVELS Meter Reads of Rope "Clear your mind of dogmatic theological debris; let in the fresh, healing waters of direct perception” Lahiri Mahasaya Once there was a man who was walking nonchalantly through a beautiful forest. Not a care in the world did he have. Absorbed in the beauty of nature he descended serenely down a winding pathway to an open glen of multicolored blossoms. Many birds of varying throated syntax graced the air with inspired innocent melody. He came to a big rock and decided to sit and l … [Read more...]
Back to School with Terl. Seriously?
Something a little lighter today. It's a day of rest. Back to school with Terl. I wonder which teacher voted this? Why would a teacher recommend this book? But why would they be offering it on a "USB Key drive"? Do they also have a special edition hand calligraphied on lambskin parchment by medieval monks? AND a t-shirt? OMG, how can anyone resist? … [Read more...]
High Crime and the Cost of Scientology
It's Saturday and Terra Cognita is in the house. High Crime and the Cost of Scientology If LRH had really wanted to save the planet as quickly as possible, why did he make his “tech” so expensive? And therefore, so inaccessible to so many? If the world was going to hell in a handbasket, why charge Scientologists—tasked with saving the planet—hundreds of thousands of dollars? Why not just give them the “tech” and allow them to get to work bailing out our little rock? How ethical would it be to charge individuals a hundred grand for a vaccine to inoculate themselves against a plague decima … [Read more...]
