Ideal Org “Good News”
This is a collection of standard issue, cookie-cutter scientology mirages, misrepresentations and lies. If you see a promo piece from a scientology org, "ideal" or otherwise, you know you will be witnessing some bs. Let's start at the top. This is their collection of "Good News" -- the best news they can come up with in this ideal org. And that consists of a single "success story" from someone who is already a Class V auditor and has already read "all the basics" upon completion of the Technique 88 lecture series. For those unfamiliar, the Technique 88 lectures … [Read more...]
We’re Open — Sort Of
This announcement is so typical of scientology. "We are officially open..." BUT... Not really. Nobody has ever had auditing without making an appointment (so no need to bold that). And you can't do courses. And it's not like some huge rush of people is going to be pouring into this mission. They might as well have been on Covid lockdown before there was a Covid lockdown. Nothing really changed. "We wish we could accommodate you all back at once..." is just wishful thinking. "All" is probably 3 or 4 paying public. If that. Scientology's pretense that there are floods of people … [Read more...]
Episode 32: Aftermath Executive Producer Aaron Saidman
On this week's episode, we talk to Aaron Saidman, co-founder of production company (IPC) that was brave enough to bring The Aftermath to air. Tune in for some behind-the-scenes insight into the making of the program, how it came about, the impact it had and how the people involved dealt with scientology and their Fair Game. … [Read more...]
Cult City Tour and The Aftermath Foundation
Thank you to everyone who joined us for the tour of Downtown Clearwater yesterday to benefit The Aftermath Foundation. And also to those who listened in remotely. We had a fun time and it was wonderful to see such a strong show of support from so many smiling faces. Our enormous appreciation to everyone for supporting the Aftermath Foundation. The Foundation's meaningful work continues, mostly unseen and not often talked about for the protection and peace of mind of those who are helped. It's the opposite of a scientology "humanitarian programs" where they don't do anything unless the … [Read more...]
Toronto Files Fail
OMG! Toronto is thinking about finishing their files. Like every single org on earth, they are incapable, even in this age of computers, of keeping their paper files up to date. They probably have millions of pieces of paper lying around unfiled since the 70's and now, 20 years after the "ideal org" evolution began, they are going to handle their backlog. One might ask the question, what have they been doing for 20 years? One of the only orgs on earth that was not required to buy a new building in order to become "ideal" they have sat frozen in time since 2003 unable to raise the money … [Read more...]

Let Children Think For Themselves
My wife wrote an article for her Buddha Belly Doula website. It is about the influence of scientology thinking on children -- something I can also relate to. It captures the thinking of scientologists about education and raising children perfectly. If Hubbard said it, it must be true. I thought it very appropriate for readers of this blog. You can read it here: Let Children Think For Themselves … [Read more...]
“Secular” Scientology
Scientology seeks to infiltrate various parts of society with "LRH Tech," What is sincerely held "religious belief" and "scripture" inside scientology, is transformed into "secular", commercial "technology" in the scientology front groups. Hubbard insisted these organizations -- like Narconon -- be "secular" for one reason. To be able to get grants from the government. Due to the First Amendment, the government is restricted from funding religious organizations. There are PLENTY of religious based drug rehabs, education programs and others. But Hubbard, the staunch opponent … [Read more...]
Episode 31: NXIVM Whistleblower Sarah Edmondson
This week, Leah and I talk with Sarah Edmondson, featured in The Vow, author of Scarred and host (with her husband Anthony "Nippy" Ames) of a new podcast, A Little Bit Culty. We talked about the similarities between Nxivm and scientology, the systems of control and even the language are remarkably similar, so much so that there is little doubt in my mind that Keith Raniere studied Hubbard. We talk about The Vow and what recovering from a cult experience is like and the impact of Scientology and The Aftermath had on her. Both Nxivm and scientology use the idea of personal r … [Read more...]
