Captain Dave the Hermit, isolated in his Truman Show world, is steadily becoming more unhinged. The image of the letter below was posted on Facebook. To begin, apparently he thinks a letter from himself is something of a work of art, all fancied up like one of those dime-a-dozen proclamations Mayors hand out. I can't really tell if that image inside the "D" is supposed to represent an outline of his profile and bouffant? Whatever, it's pretentious any way you cut it. Like this is some great work of art. Then there is the "substance" of the letter itself. Mr. Know-It-All as put … [Read more...]

Episode 62: The Aftermath OG Amy Scobee
This week we welcome our dear friend Amy Scobee to talk about scientology and celebrities. Amy was in charge of scientology Celebrity Centres for many years. She has a lot of personal experience about how scientology treats its biggest celebrities. She was also the catalyst for The Aftermath when she reached out with the story of her mother, Bonnie. They were featured in the first episode. There's a lot of ground to cover... Note: Some have asked what OG means -- OG is a slang term for someone who's incredibly exceptional, authentic, or “old-school,” someone or something that … [Read more...]
Hawking Hubbard Fiction
Hubbard fiction still being peddled, now by comparing it to Dune and Foundation. These guys will try to cash in on anything. Because these two sci-fi classics are currently getting buzz because of new screen adaptations (though i must say every review I have seen of Asimov's Foundation indicates it bears little resemblance to the books) the hustlers at Galaxy Press are trying to make it seem as though Battlefield Earth is in the same league. After all, it too was turned into a film, and what a magnificent disaster that was, memorialized in numerous "worst films of all time" lists. I w … [Read more...]
The IAS Event This Year Is Hysterical
Well, I had wondered earlier what they were going to do for the IAS event this year -- they sent out "Save the date" promo for October 16. Now the great mystery has been solved. What a joke. The event they have forced people to watch 100 times already is the big draw for this year's annual IAS celebration? That is hysterical not historical… Surely, with an entire "state-of-the-art" TV studio at their disposal (remember how it was going to "break down the walls of dissemination"?) and a "state-of-the-art" film/sound production facility they could come up with something … [Read more...]
Regraded Being
RB had a family matter this week, so we have an oldie but goodie. These comics are timeless. They so capture the essence of scientology, something that is also timeless -- because it can never change... … [Read more...]
Thursday Funnies
10 weeks with Arte Maren... People PAY for this? Amount raised - $0 This is her birthday fundraiser that's been up for a year. She is the Snr C/S of the Portland "ideal" org Wait until you find out... Actually you have to pay more to get that ability because you really cannot confront life until you are done with OT III. And then OT V. And then OT VII. And on and on... That's a real stretch... Many of these people OD'd -- First guy on their list, Don Simpson was in scientology for a while. Didn't save him. Buried … [Read more...]
Scientology and Litigation — the Real Truth
Among the many falsehoods perpetrated on the STAND League website are a series of FAQs where they try to present the image of scientology as victims of predatory, greedy litigants ... It's a typical fable that gets off to a rollicking start: During the history of the Church, some individuals sought to make money from unfounded allegations, but the Church successfully defended against those claims. It's a false premise for a number of reasons. There have been successful litigants -- notably Lawrence Wollersheim and Julie Christoffersen who were awarded multi-million dollar … [Read more...]
Episode 61: Julian Wain and the Delphian School
We welcome back Julian Wain, who appeared with his wife Katherine in Episode 49. This time we talk about the Delphian schools -- Julian both attended and taught there. These are indoctrination schools for scientology, and recruitment pools for the Sea Org, despite the claims they make publicly. Episode 49: The scientology.org website: This is the landing page of the website, listing Applied Scholastics. Here is the Applied Scholastics page and the PR line they use. This is from the FAQ page of the Delphian Academy … [Read more...]
How Empty is Scientology?
One of our regular readers, Doug Sprinkle, was in LA last week and went for a walk around the scientology complex. Outside of Flag, this is the largest scientology operation on earth. It should be bustling with people in the middle of the day... Unlike Flag, this IS a place for new public to be sucked into scientology. While Flag is a reflection of how many people are making it UP the Bridge, LA is a reflection of both that and how many people are COMING ONTO the Bridge. Things are not looking good. We know Valley is a wasteland. Never hear anything at all from Inglewood, Pasadena or … [Read more...]
Brian Lambert on Original Thinking
Our old friend Brian Lambert sent me this essay for publication. He contributed a number of great pieces previously. ORIGINAL THINKING Original thinking is the greatest anarchy against prevailing sentiments. Being in a collective of constant self congratulating agreement may be a sign that original thinking is scarce. The original thinker always clashes with fixed ideas; including their own; especially their own. Anger and ad hominem attacks may be proof that original thinking is threatening the prevailing tides. Original thinkers welcome criticism with curiosity, not … [Read more...]
