I’m dying to read it Mike but have sight issues. Do you know when audible uk is going to release it? It’s not available at present
Mike Rinder says
We are fighting them to change their arcane rules. I have been telling people on Twitter who keep asking to ask them. The UK publisher has the rights. He has the audio files. Audible UK and Australia refuse to upload it for the reason he doesn’t own the “worldwide rights.” It’s insane.
Tess says
Thanks Mike. I look forward to getting hold of the audible file. I’ll write to them too. I could listen to you talk all day and particularly enjoy your chats with Jon Atack
Tonia says
I have it in audible form, (Apple Books ) but I know you can have it read to you if you have a kindle, acct .with the Alexa app. ( I have disability with reading) it’s not the best way like the actual book, but it works. I use it for any book that is not made audible version .
Tess says
Thank you. I’ll get it on Apple books

Just finished the audiobook. Having read Going Clear, multiple other books and watched every episode of The Aftermath I didn’t think there was going to be any new material here. Boy was I wrong! Mike once again does not disappoint and brings a hard-hitting and heartfelt personal account of the abuse he and other members suffered while also explaining in intricate detail the evolution and corruption of this “church”. As with all of his pieces he has worked on he pours his heart into it, but the narration he provides for the audiobook adds the extra layers of emotion to his story. Thank you Mike, for this book and everything else you’ve tireless done to help bring down this cult.

All the interviews I heard, like has been said, you do so well at answering for Scientology, honestly, it’s enjoyable and remarkable to hear you unravel their lies.
I just hope you get plenty of sleep and eat healthy.
I liked your Chris Shelton interview, and the greater freedom you spoke there, particularly about how after writing your book, your nightmares of being trapped at Gold ceased.
Ammo Alamo says
I’ve listened to several of the interviews, but I admit to setting the playback speed at 1.5x to reduce my listening time. Compared to any currrent spokesperson representing Scientologgy Mike is a breath of fresh air, speaking contemporaneously from his own experience. Mike has an air of honesty that I never see from someone like Monique Yngling. The truth of Scientology continues to be revealed each time an ex-scientologist chooses to speak out. It is not your traditional church; in fact, were it not for the strong-arm tactics used by Miscavige and others it would not be considered a church in the US at all. But nobody with the power to act in the IRS wants to take on the task of reviewing Scientology’s tax exemption with the intent of removing them from the rolls of tax-exempt organizations.
It is great to see the word get out once again about Scientology – what it is, how it grew, how it survives, and of course its many human rights abuses that continue to be revealed in one form or another. It’s like playing whack-a-mole as the reports of abuse re-surface time and time again.

Coast to Coast — awesome!
Ms. B. Haven says
Agreed Fred. Coast to Coast was my go-to AM program when I was driving all-nighters between job sites in the 70s & 80s. Too bad Art Bell isn’t around to do the interview. That would have been a REAL treat. Art Bell was about the only radio host that didn’t use a screener. Anyone could call in and have their say. That freedom cost him dearly. He would have had great respect for someone of Rinders caliber with the balls to speak openly about the cult of scientology.
Fred G. Haseney says
Have I ever told you that I like your name, Ms. B. Haven? It’s quite clever. For the longest time (years?), whenever I saw your name, I didn’t think anything in particular about it. Then one day it hit me. I spelled your name out s-l-o-w-l-y and finally got it: it’s a play on words.
I got everything you said about Coast to Coast as well as Art Bell. I Googled “Coast to Coast scientology.” The first result is called “Understanding Scientology,” which is an interview that Art Bell did with then-President of the C of S, Heber Jentzsch. In that 1994 show, Heber spoke for two hours. Needless to say, the show supported the dangerous “church” completely.
The second result debunks scientology with the recent interview that host George Knapp did on Oct. 16, 2022, with Mike Rinder.
The third result is an interview with Marc Headley done on Jan. 12, 2020, with host Ian Punnett.
Way to go, Mike and Marc!
Ms. B. Haven says
Thanks for the info Fred. I’m going to have to check out those interviews you mentioned.
Interestingly enough, due to the nature of the material that Art Bell covered when he was hosting his radio show, Heber could have rambled on in detail about the space opera aspect of scientology and the audience wouldn’t have batted an eye. In fact, it probably would have been a great, mass body routing exercise for the cult. Sadly they can’t embrace their true nature and instead deflect and lie about that true nature. No spokesperson would dare get in front of a radio or TV microphone these days. They are all in their OSA hidy-holes so as not to have to encounter uncomfortable questions.

A question re what I just read in the book;
Kirstie Alley was born in Wichita 1951
LRH and Dianetics in Wichita 1951
Any connection there :-)?
Mike Rinder says
No

I love that you’re on Nightline! Whoo hoo. I picture your book being snapped up by non-scientology watchers as well as those of us who have been waiting to see your book from the moment you told us the publication date.
The cool thing about listening to podcasts with podcasters I’m not familiar with is that they don’t all focus on the same elements and we get to hear you expand on, in my favorite one, your feelings and experiences once you left the cherch.
Without your virtual book tour, I’d never have heard these interesting voices in the podcast universe.
Isabel R. says
Is scientology fair game podcast still a thing? :c I miss listening to you guys and the last post was in March despite an ad stating you would be back at the end of August. Your podcasts are what keep me sane at work.
Mike Rinder says
It is but just not yet. We recorded episodes but some problems came up on distribution which are still being resolved. But I have also been too busy to focus on this until all the media interest around the book dies down. We will return, I just can’t give you a date right now.
Dalice F says
Thanks Mike. I really enjoyed your book!!!! Can’t wait for the podcasts to come back. Between your and Leah’s books (have read and reread both books), and all the other ex-scientologists’ books this evil cult will fall, and fall big time!!!!

Danny Masterson’s trial is such free advertising for your book. Destitute Danny may come calling for stipends or such for boosting sales of your book.
A tsunami of entheta, and 4’13” is flailing in his hideaway. What would Ron do? David COB; You are already in hiding, so what is next?
Mary Kahn says
You are on fire! Oh man, you must be exhausted. But I hope you feel a huge sense of pride and love from those of us out here that you are representing and speaking for. Couldn’t be more grateful.
Thanks for all of the links.

Precisely what needed to be said, Mary! Bravo! And “dittoes” Mike.
