What would the world be like if there was no IAS?
Hi,
Quite a few of the staff have been fortunate enough to watch at least some of our upcoming IAS event video. One-for-one everyone who has seen the event has been blown away by the truly unbelievable impact we are having in the fight against psychiatry, drugs, crime not to mention general well-being with the Way to Happiness.
What has been more interesting however is that several staff members have remarked, “what would the planet be like if there was no IAS?”. Great question, isn’t it? When you really take a look it does not take long to realize that without the IAS the world we live in would be way worse than what it is today, that probably the majority of the population would be on psych drugs and maybe worst of all, there would be no hope for the future. Remember the movie “It’s a Wonderful Life” when Bedford Falls turned into Pottersville because George Bailey had “never lived”? Anyway, you get the idea but take a minute and really look at this for yourself and then give yourself a big acknowledgment for being an IAS member.
This is really the reason you need to make sure you come to our IAS event this Saturday night at the Santa Barbara Org. You will get to witness first-hand the amazing successes and changes the IAS is making. Remember, it is you, me and us that make the IAS happen so it is really important that all of us are at the event to acknowledge what we have accomplished so far while at the same time look ahead to what we still need to make happen.
In case you haven’t heard the event starts at 7:00PM sharp (the event itself is less than 2 hours) and dinner will be served shortly after 6:00PM. So, if you haven’t do so already either reply to this email or give the Org a call at 963-8931 and confirm your seat. I really look forward to seeing you at the Org on Saturday night!
Much Love,
Lorin Burton, ED Santa Barbara Org

Hmmm, for that matter what would the world be like without the IAS and the “ideal org” campaign?
Well, the COS would then have no choice but to EARN their income by actually auditing people to real results and training auditors who then audited more people.
And that would make the world a better place.
Yep, sounds like a good idea.
Cancel the IAS and “ideal org” campaign. I’m for it.

The world would be great without the ias. No more extorted money, ruining lives and families for no good purpose. I can’t see that they get any product whatsoever. With the horrible pr the rcs has, I’m sure the super bowl ad was a complete dud and a complete waste of money. I can’t even imagine what they are pretending that the ias is doing. I’d love to hear a report on this meeting if anyone cares to check it out. I guess they’re just spending money on lawyers to chase all the court cases due to overt products. What a ridiculous game.

The “no IAS/no George Bailey” metaphor is totally puke-producing, I must say. The George Bailey character was a man who demonstrated honesty, kindness, unselfishness, and integrity to himself, his family and his community while still at the same time making no parade of his virtues and managing to be a thoroughly likeable, down-to-earth human being with sense of humor based on his understanding of both the flaws and greatness of his fellow men. And little Lorin here wants to position the IAS with THIS? I mean, what a joke; anything further away from the character of George Bailey than the unscrupulous, lying, greedy IAS is simply unimaginable.

The World without the IAS?
I would not have had to handle hundreds of parishioner’s objections when I tried to explain why their HASI membership was no good anymore. [The church has a different definition of ‘Lifetime’ (member).]
AOLA would not have had to purchase a lifetime membership for all if it’s 120 staff.
I would not have had to waste time on the 100’s of all-hands involving something to do with the IAS. I would probably still be in the Sea Org in-fact if it were not for DM and his IAS. I pretty much enjoyed the entire 77-82 years. I would not have donated for a Patron – at least I never attended their balls (I told them I would pay if they agree to lay off all promotions and they surprisingly did).
Anyway the communication above is sad to see how bad off it is getting. I sincerely hope that the final staff exiting don’t have as much trouble as some have getting purposes and goals lined back up. And by about that time the exits are more then recruitment (may be this way already?) there will be a new break-through and DM will ‘discover’ the PTS course was all wrong so all disconnections are hereby cancelled. ~ Please call and visit your loved ones! And redo the new PTS/SP course.
In Marc’s book, I was surprised to see that DM apologized after slugging him! Wow – He must have thought he was going to get in trouble. He is heartless.

This is truly astonishing! Complete outreality. Just off the top of my head, I saw the IAS destroy the org network all across the planet by impoverishing the org publics, making it impossible for them to pay for auditing and training. This completely undercut the income of the orgs and emptied the course rooms and auditing rooms across the planet. At the same time, they took org staff off post in order to do call-in and preparation for putting on the IAS events, which were happening at least every 3 months. Org staff were thus ‘double-hatted’ most of the time, getting no sleep and having no income because they cpould no longer get their own products on post. What a nightmare!
It still astonishes me that org staff bought into it.
Foolproof says
“I saw the IAS destroy the org network all across the planet by impoverishing the org publics”. From one arbitrary springs thousands more. As well as being a covert price rise one does wonder (not for very long) if that was indeed the purpose behind the IAS – to make it impossible for public to afford normal services and thus destroy the Orgs and the subject. We all know the obvious answer.
thegman77 says
“What would the world be like if there was no IAS?”
Well, Lorin, the very first thing which came to mind is that at least some of your staff might begin to learn some real English. The correct way to utter such a question is thus: “What would the world be like if there WERE no IAS?” WAS is past tense and you’re all asking a question about a supposed FUTURE. Got that? Good. (FYI, most of the world which knows anything at all of scientology wish it WAS in the past tense. Permanently!)
Now the simple way to find out is to go out into your community and with an open mind, explore it. Find out how people are ACTUALLY living rather than being told by your cunning seniors. Find out what people ACTUALLY think of Scientology, rather than believing the dreck you are being fed. Find out how well so many of us are living our lives WITHOUT Scientology, especially those of us who were in for long periods of time and finally woke up.
Of course, the only way you can do that is to get an inkling that your ideas and concepts just might be slightly skewed. Can’t do that? I figured.

Without the IAS, I might actually still be in this church. So what can I say? Thank god for the IAS!
Then again – all those countless hours lost to briefing lockdowns and extortion, all the times I’d been made to feel like a schmuck and a DB for not having money, all the trauma and stress that long-term lack puts on you… I’d say my world would be a whole lot nicer without the IAS. But I am grateful, in a way, because IAS methods and priorities helped nudge me out the door.
Without the IAS, Saint Hill might still have a soul, instead of the hungry ghoul that lives behind those same eyes now.
Without the IAS, this church would probably collapse overnight. Why? Because it is not simply a legal slush fund, it is also DM’s best propaganda machine.
One thing I know for sure. The church IS expanding. I saw a movie about it at the org. So there.

I have something to share from my stories about an incident with the IAS:
“As it turns out, 2009 was the 25th anniversary of the International Association of Scientologists. The IAS is a non-LRH membership organization which has evolved into a status seeking, money collecting activity under the guise of creating an area into which Scientology can expand. We never bought into this; I paid for an early founding membership in 1985 and that’s it. I believe your membership was awarded but you may have bought it without my knowledge. It matters not.
What matters is that the IAS solicits donations and uses them for purposes not even authorized under its original non-LRH formation. It exchanges virtually nothing with those who support it except, of course, “status.”
By the time I was called by a “techie” (her words) working under the auspices of IAS in the CLO, I had ceased answering all telephone calls due to the extraordinary attempts to get me to “do this, do that, give this, pay that” over the preceding five years. Yet this message stated the caller was from the CLO and she needed to speak to me about Dr. Denk. There was no mention of the IAS whatsoever in the message. Just in case this might be important I returned the call.
Suffice it to say it was simply a call for money for the IAS. I had to listen to how great a doctor you had been as this “techie” explained her medical interaction with you. I had to hear about how great the “We are the IAS” is and how I should donate money. I finally told this “techie” that if I’d known what this call was going to be about, I wouldn’t have called her back. She finally hung up. I did not donate to the 25th anniversary of the IAS.
Then came the blowback! I received a call from the Senior Inspection & Reports Officer who verbally ordered me to report to LA for a meter check, something about a report he had received. I had lived in Spokane since 2005 and I said no.
I finally received a copy of the report the Senior I & R was operating on, written by our “techie” friend, comparing you to me, making it clear how bad I was and how good you were. This report was sent far and wide to posts within many organizations. What a black public relations campaign. If I’d known then what I know now, I would have sent a response on the very same routing that said, “He’s dead, you know.” Perhaps only YOU would have appreciated the humor in this action.”
Pepper says
Hi Rachel,
This is a good story and I’m glad you told it again. I’m happy that you refused to travel to LA for an interview just because you told someone that you wouldn’t have answered the phone if you knew what the call was really about. I have felt that way many times when I got calls regarding one subject when it was really about something else that I didn’t want to do or partake in and the staff knew it.
Trickery is a common to deal with “difficult” people these days. Maybe you never really were, but the staff perceived you to be that way so they had to tell you a lie to get you to call them back.
False reporting and sending it out far and wide is pretty gross. I’m sure there were a lot of embellishments and that your good points were overlooked. I’m surprised they gave you the report. I had a similar experience but the report was witheld from me by the D of I&R. I wasn’t even allowed to hold the page in order to read it and had to answer verbally to the charges.
I liked humorous note at the end too.

Hi Pepper,
Sounds like I have repeated myself with my comment … it’s probably an age thing. I expect by 2009 I was considered a difficult person. I had quit responding to messages for quite some time because talking to someone didn’t really help as I was supposed to buy something or go somewhere, i.e. Flag or the Ship, leaving the location to which I had relocated. Putting distance in there really helped my recovery as I’m sure you can understand. As far as broadly issuing her knowledge report, the “techie” probably saved her own neck through doing so. Sorry you didn’t get a copy of your KR. I might frame mine …

It really shows the depravity of the current C of S and the IAS for them to harass you like that.
TheWidowDenk says
Thanks Al. This is for you from my stories:
There came a crossroads for you before we met. You didn’t really care for engineering, your major at the University of Michigan. You could either go professional as a golfer or become a doctor. In the end, you chose medicine because you could “help people.” You never regretted your choice within my earshot. I remember in your later years you did consider trying to get on the senior golf circuit but never pursued it. By then we were so entrenched in our lives, but it was fun to think about.

Thanks Rachel for sending me the story. Amazing!! What a history for Dr. Denk that I didn’t know. I could always tell the way he dealt with me that he certainly chose his career based on his love for others…to help others.

If anything would fall under the category of “Look, don’t listen”, it’s the IAS’s claim that they are doing something to eradicate psychology. Today, psyche drugs are more rampant than ever. Drug companies are bigger and are pushing more drugs than ever. Once upon a time Scientology was actually starting to change for the better this scene. Today?…. Scientology is just a joke. For pretty much everybody. Comedians LOVE Scientology. Large amount of comic material from which to choose. Scientology has no altitude at all. Not only isn’t it changing this scene for the better, but because of its stand, (and T.C.) Scientology gives psyches more credibility.

Dear Over run in Cal,
Yes, Scientology promoted eradicating Psychiatry by the year 2000, (CCHR)

Rickey,
If the IAS were abolished, the whales would be beached! They’d be a scrambling!
Aquamarine says
Yes, and they would actually have to study something besides the Basics. They’d have to get auditor trained. Abolishing the IAS would level the Scientology playing field because it would eliminate these ridiculous statuses and shunt the focus back to where it belongs, on auditing and auditor training. Say what you want, good or bad, about L. Ron Hubbard, but no-one can say that he didn’t care about making auditors. No way he would think someone was a “Big Being” simply because of a large financial donation. Abolishing the IAS could very possibly save Corporate Scientology, and it would be good for the whales also because their delusions may make them feel good for brief spurts of time, and the love-bombing they get has become a real addiction, but deep down they know also what LRH really wanted, which was auditors produced – capable auditors produced in volume. THAT’S how you clear a planet. No – one ever went clear reading Way To Happiness or while listening to 3 hours of Shermanspeak at an Int Event.

It’s his personal justification – # of auditors and hours are down long term trending for 30 years but he looks at himself in the mirror and like a lot of COs or EDs as long as his GI (i.e. in this case from IAS) is up he isn’t bothered. Short term think unfortunately that has now lasted 30 years. Bit of Product Clearing in the early years would have been good but I am being really reasonable now! Ha! There’s a lot more involved here than just omitted Product Clearing of course so don’t worry about my confront of evil (if you were?) Thing is will he ever run out of these out-ethics dupes known as donators? Seems like it is now trickling down to a few drops as they seem to be getting really desperate, but Christ it’s been 30 years of this crap. They’ll have to start making auditors and er, auditing PCs sooner or later otherwise the great hope will disappear forever. But that is of course the game. One cannot draw any other conclusion can one? The game being played by those still in the Church ironically is the total destruction of Dianetics and Scientology. IAS is a major plank in this. As is DM – a “plank” that is!
Hiatus57 says
HUH?
If its lasted 30 years its hardly short term think LOL LOL
But I get the point.
As for they “have to make auditors” this is not true.
Its exactly the same as saying that Banks need savers or assets to continue business.
They don’t want savers or assets and they don’t need them.
As long insane Governments allow privatetly owned central banks tocreate money out of thin air and give to smaller banks money with 0% or 0.5% interest so they can speculate in morgages fraud, dodgey trades, Liber fraud, loan fraud, high frequency theft trading and the many 100’s of other daily financial fraud they are involved in they don’t give a shit.
It is the same with the C of S as long as the dwarf has IAs regges milking the rich cows on a daily basis for his ridiculous schemes and his daily supply of booze and cigarettes he does not give a shit either.
It will never stop until he dies or the cash cows simply have no money left,
My bet is he will dies first.
As they work very hard at getting wealthy idiots in to some kind of service to get at their money.
So if you see someone in the Org you fancy get a milking stool and crack on!

Instead, I’m a few grand shorter and no better off because of it. Under Miscavige it has become a money sucking hybrid monster that has engulfed orgs and individual Scientologists, assuming control of their every operation. Their ‘campaigns’ are done for lip-service PR. Nothing of any substance has come about as a result of ‘Books in Libraries’, VM campaigns, or anything else. And meanwhile, the bank balances for IAS rack up the spare change from their remaining sheep.

I posted these comments on Ortega’s site 3 days ago. After some reflection, I have to conclude, THERE IS NO WAR ON PSYCHIATRY. Certainly not now, and really there has never been. It’s just an illusion made up by Hubbard to generate fear amongst the faithful. RJ67 would be my go-to reference on this one. This is no endorsement of psychiatry, it could certainly use some cleaning up, but what profession couldn’t?
Here’s my comment:
I was listening to NPR while driving yesterday and heard this outlandish piece about a wog whale who donated $650 million to psychiatric research. SIX HUNDRED FIFTY MILLION US DOLLARS!!! http://www.npr.org/2014/07/22/333892150/sons-mental-illness-prompts-billionaires-big-donation-to-psychiatric-research
Can you imagine that? In one fell swoop, this infidel makes a donation of his own volition towards something that he thinks will benefit mankind. I would bet a paycheck that there was no reg involved either.
When I got home, there was a glossy IAS flyer waiting for me in the mailbox telling me how they were soliciting funds for their latest push in the war on psychiatry.
For any lurkers, fence-sitters, under-the-radar or OSA internet monitor types out there reading this, think about it for just a minute. There are hundreds of medical schools in western countries that offer degrees in psychiatry. That means hundreds if not thousands of these people are turned out every year and they may or may not set up a practice. Compare that to what scientology is doing. You don’t even have to believe the pathetic stats that are regularly posted on Rinder’s blog https://www.mikerindersblog.org/ For those with an Indie bent, their perennial complaint is that the official CoS is not producing auditors. But, even way back in the heyday when scientology was actually expanding, the number of auditors being made paled in comparison with the number of psychiatrists that were being awarded PhDs every year. And that doesn’t even include psychologists, therapists, counselors, social workers, etc.
The bottom line is, there is no war on psychiatry, it’s just a money grab. If you don’t think so, just ask the next IAS reg you encounter where the money is going and how it is being spent. If you dare to communicate freely. This is a legitimate question that anyone should ask anyone who is asking for a donation no matter what the organization is. Scientologists, who are masters of communication and have the ability to communicate freely with anyone on any subject and also have the ability to shatter suppression anytime they encounter it should have no problem finding out EXACTLY how their donations are being spent. Good luck with that one.
gato rojo says
Having gotten myself involved in a couple other non-profit groups since I’ve been out, I’ve seen first hand how money is needed for their activities and how they go about getting it. They show what they do, and they accept donations on the terms of the person or company donating. You can’t be a non-profit and take money from people and groups and just do what you want with it.
While I was in I had no clue about this. Initially I couldn’t understand why a donor would want to know what happened to their money. “Don’t they trust us??” No, probably not! But they like your cause so they’ll contribute. Then you show them what you did, and invite them to the activities, and they’ll donate next year too. That’s how you build a good relationship with your donors and advance your cause for the community and your members.
But this blind hand over all your money BS is just that…total intentional rip-off BS.

The IAS had been founded in 1984. The official reason at that time had been something like “to ensure Scientology will always be around”.
But what did happen in 83/84 before IAS had been started?
All free theta had been attacked inside Scientology. Many did blow as they recognized this. Others stayed on board to try to handle the situation. Some did try to start outside groups to have enough powers to handle the situation. As those outside groups did grow they had been considered a danger to the project. Thus the task had been to unite all the insiders and make a strong enough push to erase the outsiders.
The IAS had been started and the money had been used to start lots of legal battles and fund OSA to be able to handle all that “splinter groups”.

Your only hope for any decent future livingness resides on what you do right this moment. Take your hands and grab each side of your neck firmly and with one big yank, see if you can drag your head out of your ass and Wake the Fuck Up.
Jeesch ………… the combined stupidity (old tech dictionary pg. 411 def #2 —–“having lost the time, the place and the object.”) of those remaining involved in the Cult and in the support of the International Association of Sociopaths (IAS) is increasing exponentially. The next stop on your bridge to total insanity, if you cannot jerk hard enough to get your head out, is the Toast Rundown. That is where the bankrupt, homeless and destitute stand around a barrel talking about how COB is bound to come up with a real why any moment now.
End of rant.

What would the world be like without the IAS??? Mmmm – let me think. Probably exactly as it is now, with the exception that I would have more money in my bank account.. This is exactly the arrogance of the Church that grates me. These people, encapsulated in their bubble, are utterly incapable of seeing they have next to ZERO impact on the world at large. Not only that, but every time there is some kind of disaster, they circle round like vultures to see how they can get in on the action – feeding off the misery of others in order to maximise their own PR (like handing out WTH booklets when dead bodies litter the streets after the Boston marathon). The thought of real, unadulterated help without an ulterior motive is the furthest thing from their minds.

Dear Lorie,
I think the IAS is doing a great job in the fight against general well being.
Those compound sentences can be so tricky especially if you’ve been mainlining Shermanspeak.

Different strokes for different folks.
IAS Reg – I Am Superior
IAS Dupe – I Am Shit
Alex De Valera says
Unbelievable! These guys do nothing to help anybody on Earth. Alcapone was maybe better to the community. In any case the world would be a much better place without the IAS racket.
Jose Chung says
Al Capone sponsored Soup kitchens and Bread lines during the Depression.

The kool-aid drinkers literally have no idea. For whatever little good the IAS has actually done, they have turned off an enormous number of people to SCN, caused many to leave or dive under the radar, bankrupted who know how many good people, etc. etc.
Most prominently, they have piled on tremendously to the incredible bad PR the church maintains in the world. Just search the term “Scientology” on youtube. The results are uncommonly bad. The first 50 videos are negative. Plus, the church is no longer advertising. I see no ads on Youtube or Google for the term “Scientology.”
Honestly, I think the world would be much better off without the IAS. At least without a blood-sucking IAS. I never had any problem with rich people donating to the church. Many groups receive grants from wealthy patrons.
My biggest problems with the IAS are their incessant lies and blood-sucking people that can’t afford it. They really pray on nice people that do want to make the world a better place.

Dear Lorie,
Thank you for all that you’re doing with the IAS to stamp out psychiatry from the face of the earth. I can just feel Eli Lilly and their ilk scared out of their wits knowing you guys are on the job. You are really making a difference, though what that difference is, I’m not quite sure.
The ads are amazing, something even the great L. Ron Hubbard would probably wish he had thought up, but then again, maybe not. Sorry to say, I can’t attend as I’m watching Desperate Housewives reruns on YouTube.
What would the world be like if there was no IAS? I can only imagine!!!!!!!!!!
Jose Chung says
Eli Lilly paid off David Miscavige to stop attacking them because Eli Lilly stock
was going down. Once David Miscavige received a huge payoff through back channels
Eli Lilly stock has gone back up through the stratosphere. D.M.’s lawyers are happy as well having taken a percentage of the deal. The Biggest psych is David Miscavige !!!!!!!
gato rojo says
Wouldn’t be surprised if DM and all his pals then bought Eli Lilly stock while it was down so they could make a killing later.
I really like how the sea org policy about no SO crew having additional income sources is complied to. It’s been known for many many years that a lot of the Int Execs had stock and other sources of personal income. The reasoning behind the “no other income or jobs for SO staff” rule was so they could just put their attention and energy into making the orgs expand by delivering standardly and efficiently, having winning org public and making an honest buck and having everyone make sufficient income all around.
But where’s the fun in that. No drama, no sex drugs and criminality and imprisonment. Hmmpf.

Let’s see here…………….Well I would probably still be married to my ex, our kids would likely have an education and be pursuing their personal interests. They might perhaps be involved in the family business in some way promoting design and construction of solar homes and we would have gatherings at various times of the year to celebrate things and visit with each other.
Oh yes, and they also would have attended My moms 93 birthday last month and enjoyed working in the garden with her tending the strawberries and enjoying her made from scratch cherry chocolate pie that was sooooooo good.
But alas, I understand, these thing are very off purpose for those saving the planet.
Chee chalker says
I’m sorry Cooper. I hope some of those things you describe can still happen, esp visiting with your mother
Pepper says
Me too Cooper. The game isn’t over yet. They may wake up sooner than later and get to eat that delicious pie and visit your Mom.
Cooper J Kessel says
Thanks for the kind thoughts. I agree………….the fat lady has not yet had her day ……the door will always be open and one day I expect they will return wanting to know what happened.

What would the world be like if there was no IAS? I can only imagine!!!!!!!!!! It seems that there would be not a great difference .. not for the world itself .. but for Scientologists ..
Rodney says
The IAS wouldn’t make a pimple on as psychiatrists’ a$$. Meaning they are have no effect at all.
cre8tivewm says
But Miscavage was on video with these cheesy graphics showing how all the psychs were going to jail. How can there be any doubt that IAS ended the psychs?
Until next time they want money…
Old Surfer Dude says
What would the world be like if there was no IAS? Heaven on earth! Like it’s Sunday morning every day of the week! It would be like peace breaking out across the planet! It would be like people coming together because they really want to come together (as in not being forced). It would be like reaching OT XXX (if there really was such a thing). It would be like waking up everyday with incredible joy in your heart. It would be like TRUE freedom! For me personally, it would be like surfing with my dolphin friends every time I paddled out! It would be like the tiny dwarf never existing! You would have fantastic wins that kept getting better and better just taking a walk! Love, compassion & kindness would follow your every step! Birds would serenade you as you walked down any street! A brotherhood of man would unite the world! It would be bliss…
And…you wouldn’t have to pay a dime for it! That’s my take on it! What’s yours?
jeff says
Howard Becker, Rob Boseman and Michal Roberts would all have to find another way to rip people off.
Richard Roberts says
She is talking about the IAS as if its an organization thats doing something. In reality the IAS is a bunch of sales people and you the member. Contributions to the IAS don’t go to anyone except a legal team who then in turn fights former Scientologists who got sick of being asked for money to be an IAS member. I don’t remember ever seeing teams of IAS volunteers doing anything and all the Way to happiness “missions” were not run on IAS donations they were either out of pocket expenses and more donations to the WTH.
There are none so blind as those in the bubble.
Cindy says
The person writing this “invitation to the IAS event” is so delusional. The entire church is playing the propaganda TV with fake good news boasting of their accomplishments exactly like the one in George Orwell’s “1984” book. The parallels are just amazing and too close for comfort. They truly are mainlining the Kool Aid. Good visual, Mike.
