I just have to tell you how much I admire you Mike. You accept what ever part you had inside the cult without downplaying, deflecting, defending or anything that was said in the show. I’m sure not many people would be able to do that. Most have an automatic instinct to shield themselves from what hurts and hearing what the people said must have hurt.
I think also by doing that others can heal and that is a beautiful thing to do.
Amazing… I don’t want to call it a show, it’s way more than that. What you and Leah are doing is brilliant! My heart goes out to everyone involved. I can’t imagine how hard it was for you personally and others that were in the same position as you to come forward. Now that you have I hope that any guilt is completely outweighed by the good that you are doing now. You guys were victims of a crime (brain washing) in my opinion and I just hope I don’t have to hear someone else on your show say that they didn’t think (or hoped) they were worthy of forgiveness. That was heartbreaking to hear from someone who is obviously a very caring man and feels so much guilt. It’s just not right. You all are suffering still and guilt does not need to be added to that. I pray that some day your family comes back to you all and that you all have some peace in this world.
Finally got my Sling working and watched it. Wow. Just wow. The reality of how evil the policies are finally sunk in. I’m actually flabbergasted, to be honest. The hundreds of thousands of pages of policies diluted the reality of just how evil those policies are; throw so much information at me so that nothing quite sticks the way it should, so that I can’t focus on the truth. I’ve been one to say that those hundreds of thousands of pages were much ado about nothing, but now I see that mixed in with all of that were many extremely wicked and evil demands.
I just want you to know that I think what you and Leah are doing is awesome. I have followed Scientology every since Tom Cruise freaked out on Oprah’s couch and the more I learned the more I was terrified for the people of this world. I am very happy to know that you are in the public eye speaking out against the atrocities with Leah and going on TV to expose this. I am sure this is not easy for you to face old demons but your bravery in doing so holds the door open for others who maybe would never have come forward with out you and Leah’s support. You are a true leader and I commend you for all you have done. Just remember Mike, no matter what has happened in the past what really matters is what you do in the future…Keep up the good fight! This non Scientologist supports you guys and thinks the show is not only educational but can really help other people in need.
Totally agree with you, Heather! I have been hopelessly swept up into the world that Mike and Leah are opening up to us. The stories of the victims have opened my eyes to how easily people can be swept up into these horrible situations. It breaks my heart and, simultaneously, makes me so angry. There are moments when it becomes so very heart-wrenching to watch the emotional trama within those who were in positions of “power”, when they are faced with situations they were either aware of or took part in.
Mike, I want to say that although I haven’t actually been touched by scientology personally, your courage is inspiring to me. Please know that when you are struggling with the demons of your past and walking through these torturous memories and situations you arent proud of, you are not alone. You are brave and strong and are saving lives by what you are doing.

Such good work you all. Here is what I know about exposing groups like this. First they love to play the victim but this group is much more evil and devious and fights back with ruthless legal and harassment techniques. The closer you are to exposing the truth means the opposition you will experience and the harassment you will face will be turned up on a quantum level basis. So kudos to you for being brave and telling the truth. The fact that this group has tax exempt status is a travesty and the damage they do to people’s lives is unthinkable. I think the program is doing an excellent job of showing true emotions and experiences of past members. Keep up the good work Leah and Mike. Be watchful and be careful. I really hope that this moves people, including those in higher up positions in law enforcement & government, here in the U.S. and abroad, to take steps to stop the abuses happening within this “church”. Wycott, their admin. told me – he wasn’t a clear yet after 11 years in Scientology “but things have changed,” he said and he should be a clear this year. I had asked if he was OT, when he called me. I was playing along like I was still interested. He is the one you wrote about that passed out Way to Happiness pamphlets after the Marathon Boston Bombing happened.

Thank you for yours and Leah’s work in helping to unmask this insidious cult that preys on people’s hope and faith. In my home, it resonated with my husband especially, because he was raised in a strict, Church of Christ sect with many similar rules. He grew up in poverty because all of the family money went to the church and married at age 18 just to be allowed to “date” a girl (his ex-wife). He’s spent the past 30 years recovering since his divorce. His past is something he hadn’t talked about much; instead, conversation would happen in situations when he didn’t know which boundaries were appropriate… usually involving rules and behaviors as our kids became teens, or when he’d be in social situations around strangers… he literally wasn’t sure how to carry on “normal” conversation. Through your show, he’s related to ex-scientologists’ experiences, and it’s opened up a cathartic way for him to talk about them. I can’t thank you both enough for this, and hope that you continue to help tell others’ stories.
Mike, just watching the season 1 marathon leading to the 2 hour show tonight, it has ignited a memory of a video you did with Marty while fishing a few years ago. Both of you were so matter of fact honest, it had a great impact on my opinion of misdeeds and redemption. Now I look at your work and Marty’s who has some gag order due to the lawsuit settlement (I understand he has a new child and doesn’t need the shit) but will he eventually follow your lead? Just to start trying to heal any damage he may have caused due to the cult! I guess only time will tell … its just sad.

Thank God for the Russians because all the episodes are available on RuTube. So glad to see this content in tonight’s episode. Most of the general public do not understand the terror this organization instills in people who leave or criticize it in any way. For those of us who were part of it for decades, IMO, many will suffer severe trauma and hyper vigilance after leaving which can last years.
And the sad part is–they’re not even aware of it.
Case in point. I’m curious as to how many people experienced something similar to this: Months after I made my final exit, I had an appointment at a business I’d patronized half a dozen times before (so I was not in unfamiliar surroundings….) I was sitting in the waiting room by myself and glanced at my watch thinking someone would be coming any minute to get me….
Even though I expected it, when the lady opened the door to greet me, I was so startled, I nearly hit the ceiling!
I wasn’t planning on commenting today so Mike could try to enjoy his day off without much moderating, but I just have to say thanks to you TitleWaves for your comment.
As a never-in, I had not considered that even after being out for years, there is still this hyper-vigilant mentality that former Scientologists must have to live with for the rest of their lives. Yet another damaging aspect of this organization’s Fair Game policy.

Wycott, their admin. told me – he wasn’t a clear yet after 11 years in Scientology “but things have changed,” he said and he should be a clear this year. I had asked if he was OT, when he called me. I was playing along like I was still interested. He is the one you wrote about that passed out Way to Happiness pamphlets after the Marathon Boston Bombing happened.
Something can be done and you and Hurricane Leah are educating the World to stay away from the evil cult of $cientology! Thank you for exposing David Miscavige, con man and criminal L Ron Hubbard and his evil cult Scientology – which is not a religion.

Thank you for yours and Leah’s work in helping to unmask this insidious cult that preys on people’s hope and faith. In my home, it resonated with my husband especially, because he was raised in a strict, Church of Christ sect with many similar rules. He grew up in poverty because all of the family money went to the church and married at age 18 just to be allowed to “date” a girl (his ex-wife). He’s spent the past 30 years recovering since his divorce. His past is something he hadn’t talked about much; instead, conversation would happen in situations when he didn’t know which boundaries were appropriate… usually involving rules and behaviors as our kids became teens, or when he’d be in social situations around strangers… he literally wasn’t sure how to carry on “normal” conversation. Through your show, he’s related to ex-scientologists’ experiences, and it’s opened up a cathartic way for him to talk about them. I can’t thank you both enough for this, and hope that you continue to help tell others’ stories.
Mike, just watching the season 1 marathon leading to the 2 hour show tonight, it has ignited a memory of a video you did with Marty while fishing a few years ago. Both of you were so matter of fact honest, it had a great impact on my opinion of misdeeds and redemption. Now I look at your work and Marty’s who has some gag order due to the lawsuit settlement (I understand he has a new child and doesn’t need the shit) but will he eventually follow your lead? Just to start trying to heal any damage he may have caused due to the cult! I guess only time will tell … its just sad.

Not enough information. I went to the website, and it advertises it for the A and E channel. But I don’t have the channel. It doesn’t say it’s going to stream it. so??????
Wait a day or two, you’ll find it on you tube or mirror sites. In fact your search for this episode will only help Mike and Leah’s cause, as the advertisers get wind of the buzz on the internet.
If worse comes to worse, I think you’ll be able to see it on the A&E site tomorrow, or else on youtube.

Thank God for the Russians because all the episodes are available on RuTube. Just google rutube and go to their page and search for “Scientology and the Aftermath” along with the name of the episode you want to watch. The latest two-hour special is broken up into 3 parts on that site. The copyright lords never get to rutube.

So glad to see this content in tonight’s episode. Most of the general public do not understand the terror this organization instills in people who leave or criticize it in any way. For those of us who were part of it for decades, IMO, many will suffer severe trauma and hyper vigilance after leaving which can last years.
And the sad part is–they’re not even aware of it.
Case in point. I’m curious as to how many people experienced something similar to this: Months after I made my final exit, I had an appointment at a business I’d patronized half a dozen times before (so I was not in unfamiliar surroundings….) I was sitting in the waiting room by myself and glanced at my watch thinking someone would be coming any minute to get me….
Even though I expected it, when the lady opened the door to greet me, I was so startled, I nearly hit the ceiling!
I wasn’t planning on commenting today so Mike could try to enjoy his day off without much moderating, but I just have to say thanks to you TitleWaves for your comment.
As a never-in, I had not considered that even after being out for years, there is still this hyper-vigilant mentality that former Scientologists must have to live with for the rest of their lives. Yet another damaging aspect of this organization’s Fair Game policy.
If (or when, perhaps?) this organization implodes, hopefully you and others can finally find some semblance of peace regarding your constant worry that someone is watching you. I truly hope this madness will very soon come to an end.
