Watch Catherine Bell interview This is the party line fed to celebrities (and anyone else) to use as a cop out when asked about scientology. “It’s misunderstood, there’s so much false information out there. Read a book and then make a decision for yourself.” It’s a pretty effective deflection and tends to end any inquiries — the vast majority of people who interview celebs are not investigative reporters, they have a 2 line briefing sheet that is handed to them before they “interview” the six or eight celebs who are gathered for a press junket to promote their latest film/tv show or project. … [Read more...]
Going Clear on Netflix
Going Clear is available on Netflix. If you have not seen this, take the time to watch it. If you haven’t watched it since it first came out a decade or so ago, it’s worth re-watching. This documentary had massive impact on the way the world viewed Scientology. And paved the way for so much that has come since - including The Aftermath (which is available for free on Tubi). The story that is told and how is laid out is brilliant — facts about Hubbard and Scientology and interviews are brought together to paint a devastating picture that is beyond dispute. … [Read more...]

When the Narcissist Fails A cautionary examination of how narcissists react to failure. Key points: any public embarrassment of a narcissist causes further anger, rage, and incivility. New Haven Taxes
You may have heard about the decision of the city of New Haven to asses taxes on the vacant scientology "ideal org" building. For the first time in 14 years, City Hall has sent a property tax bill to the Church of Scientology for a long-vacant former furniture store in Westville Village. City Tax Collector Karen Gauthier confirmed that, as of July 1, the church owes $39,817.18 in property taxes for the two-story former Hallock’s at 949 Whalley Ave. That represents the first half of the Church of Scientology of Connecticut Inc.-owned property’s $79,742.36 tax bill for the fiscal y … [Read more...]

The Narcissistic Personality Part 5: Do Narcissists Cry?
See earlier posts in this series: Part 1: The Narcissist Part 2: The Sneaky Techniques of the Cover Narcissist Part 3: The “Generous” Narcissist Part 4: The Altruistic Narcissist The propensity to cry is not something I ever observed in either Ron Hubbard or David Miscavige -- this is perhaps the first trait describing the narcissist that has not applied, though certainly the underlying emotions and motivations were present. But it is enlightening in a broader sense for anyone trying to understand or dealing with a narcissistic personality. Overview of nar … [Read more...]

The Narcissistic Personality Part 4: The Altruistic Narcissist
This is an interesting twist — at first glance altruism and narcissism seem completely contradictory. In my experience, both L. Ron Hubbard and David Miscavige displayed these traits: claiming to have pure intentions to help mankind, even requiring enormous personal sacrifice on their behalf, until it no longer forwarded their objective. Then it’s forgotten faster than yesterday’s news. NOI is Winning the War with Scientology
This building was purchased and renovated concurrent with the Inglewood "ideal" org. It was announced as a facility that would host local groups and a place where the org could introduce the community to scientology. And offer a venue for the front groups of scientology to operate. Since the efforts to bring the NOI on board began, it has been an interesting spectator sport to try to figure out whether scientology could absorb the NOI and thereby increase its membership, or whether this might end in a colossal backfire. It has never seemed realistic for Miscavige to … [Read more...]

Narcissistic Personality Part 3: The “Generous” Narcissist
This is an article written by Darius Cikanavicius on the PsychCentral site. It's no secret that a core narcissistic trait is the lack of empathy and care for others. However, people with strong narcissistic tendencies and other dark personality traits (hereafter narcissists) do sometimes act in a caring manner, or try to appear this way. In this article, we will explore the common reasons behind this behaviour. Adulation Regular people with healthy levels of empathy are generally helpful and thoughtful people. They genuinely care about and … [Read more...]
