"Come-on" is a principle of selling scientology that Hubbard expounded upon that is akin to the doctrine of the "acceptable truth." You can see an example of Hubbard "come on" tech in the above -- even promoted as "come-on questions." The idea is to create a "mystery sandwich." Don't tell the prospect what you are selling, instead entice them with questions that suck them in. Here it is in Hubbard's own cynical words: As always, getting the "prospect" to BUY is the goal. Don't give him any tech (that would help him) because then he won't … [Read more...]
The Creation of Human Ability
We have had some fun with History of Man here, and so too have many others. Let's take a moment to look at another of the Hubbard books that gets less airtime because it is not as overtly batshit crazy as HOM -- the Creation of Human Ability. Published in 1954, COHA (everything is an acronym in scientology) is primarily Hubbard trying to offer the solution to nobody being able to go Clear with Dianetics. It starts with typical Hubbard bluster about the magnificence of his discoveries and how well-read he is and how scientology follows in the tradition of great philosophies, religions … [Read more...]
Dog Now Chasing New Car
It took less than 24 hours. The "10,000 onto or through Solo NOTs" is already assigned to the scrap heap and a "new game" has been announced. They don't have any kooky Hubbard quote to justify it, now it is just an arbitrary number: 25,000. They reached 10,000 in 40 years -- continuing at that same rate, the target will be achieved in 2086! And that supposes scientology will not continue to shrink... The dog is now chasing a Ferrari and is not expected to ever catch it. But, like "Clearing the Planet" scientologists will cheer in the hallways and nod to one another knowingly that … [Read more...]
Dog Finally Catches Car!
It has finally happened. After 40 years, they are claiming to have accomplished 10,000 people “onto or through” Solo NOTS. This is of course not true, they count everyone who has ever been on Solo NOTs in this number, whether they died or quietly left or have been declared SP. But they are claiming the victory so let's take them at their word. How coincidental that it happened on the exact day they promoted a week ago -- scheduling events to announce it. Nothing contrived about this at all. So, what does it mean? This whole campaign that Clive Rabey has been the face of since he … [Read more...]
More Scientology Front Group News
I got an alert there was some new "scientology news" from Google. Turns out it linked to an article in the Richmond Register, a small paper published 3 days a week in the town of Richmond, Kentucky (p. 40,000). Obviously, this paper is in dire need of content to fill its pages. A kids event on the stage of the Los Angeles org would otherwise not make it into a small-town paper so far from LA. But, this is not as noteworthy as the content itself. It's another of scientology's deceptive press releases intended to make it appear they are "working with" other … [Read more...]
A Reporter Visits Birmingham Ideal Org
Thursday Funnies
A momentous milestone on our whole track! OMG, the hype. They announce the events, and claim the dates and times are "below" -- but they aren't. Not going to get much turnout if nobody knows when and where they are supposed to be. They're excited at Flag! They even have a backpack... This is a scientology org? They seem to promote anything other than scientology these days... The latest ideal org They're promoting tacos! We are Clearing Poland! They've sold 879 book and by their calculation (which is not … [Read more...]
David Miscavige — NOT L. Ron Hubbard’s Chosen Successor
Tony Ortega (via Alex Barnes-Ross) commented on an article on STAAD/STAND website celebrating the birthday of Miscavige yesterday. In it, the unnamed sycophant writing the piece (probably someone in OSA or RTC) made the following statement: When the Founder of Scientology, L. Ron Hubbard, was ready to pass the torch to a successor, he needed someone who would (1) be up to the task of leading the fastest-growing religion in the world and (2) have the strength, courage and perspicacity to follow through on ensuring the religious technology is available for future generations. David Miscavige … [Read more...]
10 Tips for Leaving Scientology
Dr. Natalie Feinblatt appeared in the finale episode of The Aftermath. She recently published this article: 10 Tips for Leaving the Church of Scientology. (As a note, the byline is credited to Kristie Plantinga who appears to be in charge of Natalie's website marketing). No matter who wrote it, the piece contains helpful advice (and couple of factual errors about celebrities who have been involved). There are a number of parts to the article -- these are the subheads. Why people leave Scientology Signs you might be ready to quit Scientology Understanding the process of leaving the … [Read more...]
David Minkoff is Bringing REAL Freedom to Israel…
How do we get Israel out of suppression and reactive mind slavery? This is the doctor who lost his medical license as a result of his failure/incompetence in treating Lisa McPherson. Now he is going to save Israel. This is of course not the first time Scientology has claimed they would bring peace to the Middle East and solve all of Israel's problems. Typically they have done fundraising to distribute WTH to "bring peace" and touted the great "successes" they have had in doing so. They were wrong then, just as they are wrong now. This is an earlier post from my blog about this very … [Read more...]
