To everyone reading this, I wish you a wonderful 2024. 2023 saw some monumental accomplishments in the world of ending scientology abuses. It also had its challenges. I for one am looking forward to a 2024 that makes 2023 a distant memory. Scientology loves to hold "postulate seminars" at this time of year. I am going to repeat my seminar on the subject that I wrote last New Years. It's 3 simple things. Do what you know in your heart is the right thing to do and don't compromise because it may be difficult. Be kind to others. Cherish your family and … [Read more...]
Happy New Year
To all who visit this site, I hope you have a wonderful 2023. Scientology loves to hold "postulate seminars" at this time of year. Well, here is my seminar. Do what you know is right. Be kind to others. Cherish your family and friends. This is the best way I know to attain what you are hoping for in life. In 2023 I will continue to do all I can to end the abuses of scientology. It's shaping up to be a very good year in that regard... We are spending a few days with the Headley's who have come to visit, so things will be a bit slow on the blog and I intend to leave this message … [Read more...]
Paul Grady (Feb 1956 – Dec 2021)
Very sad news from my old and dear friend Janis Grady: I’m deeply saddened to say, at 5:22 am this morning, December 30, 2021 my husband of 41 years, Paul Grady let go of his body and moved on. He put up a good fight, he even managed to come out of being on a ventilator in an 11 day, medically-induced coma. His lungs, however, were heavily scarred from many years of smoking. He lived another 8 days and got to have final moments with family and several close friends. I got to be with him when he passed and our good friend, Scott Campbell, was there as well. We sat at his bedside to say g … [Read more...]
Natalie Webster
Natalie Webster is an old friend who originally contacted me when her daughter, Shelby, was in training at Flag. She wrote the below as a response to Cindy and I asked her if I could post it as I felt it deserved more attention than it would get if it was a comment responding to someone on an earlier post. I asked her to send me some photos too! She overkilled these shots of happy family! She also wanted to make the following point, in addition to the comment response which follows: One point I really want to make is that there is life after the Sea Org and Scientology. A good life. I … [Read more...]
Jim Dincalci
My dear friend Janis Gillham Grady let me know that our mutual friend, Jim Dincalci, passed away this evening. I am publishing Janis' eulogy, but also wanted to add a few comments of my own. I became friends with Jim when we were both assigned to a short unit from the Apollo on the island of Madeira in 1974. We were the only two males out of the 7 members of the unit, so we shared an apartment. We also spent most of our work days together as the women were all off doing surveys of tourists as part of a plan Hubbard had to ingratiate ourselves to the Portuguese government. We became close … [Read more...]
With Deepest Gratitude
When Mike so graciously agreed to share our plight regarding the situation with my son and the tragic accident that happened on the 5th May 2021, [A Mother's Urgent Plea for Help] I was absolutely blown away with the number of folks who readily stepped up to help. There was so much outpouring of support, love, donations, loans and well-wishes at a time we desperately needed help, and I was quite at a loss for words as to how I was going to adequately express my gratitude to everyone. While I concentrated on the immediate task at hand (getting my son out of “hell” and tran … [Read more...]
Thank You, Thank You, Thank You
I have been in touch with Shelley Ashurst today in the aftermath of the recent events detailed here. I want to let everyone who has sent their hard earned money and sincere messages of support that you are enormously appreciated. Shelley, Jean and the rest of the family are quite overwhelmed with the outpouring. I didn't realize until today that Jean is in a hospital that is a 2 hour drive from where Shelley and the rest of the family live. They are burning the candle at both ends trying to organize his care, handle the money and logistics, negotiate the bureaucracy of the hospital … [Read more...]
A Mother’s Urgent Plea for Help
I usually don't post things like this here, because if I did every time someone asked me, it would be all this blog would contain. But for people I know personally, who have gone out of their way to help me, there can be no hesitation. I know if I asked for help in return it would be given unconditionally. I ask you to read this in its entirety, and if you can help, do so. There won't be certificates or commendations, and you won't be given a bowling trophy or lauded in a magazine as a "humanitarian," but you will have done something to help someone and a family in dire need of assistance due … [Read more...]
Fernando Gamboa 1955 – 2021
Terri and Janis (daughters of Peter and Yvonne Gillham) asked me to post this tribute here. They are dear friends of nearly 50 years, and I mourn their loss. I knew Fernando, though not really well. But his smile was unforgettable, and so was his kind and gentle demeanor, something rare in the world of the Sea Org. And his dedication to and love for my friend Terri for so many years gives him a special place in my heart. FERNANDO GAMBOA: Aug 29, 1955 – February 18, 2021 Fernando was born and raised in the foothills of the Andes in Sogamoso, Colombia. When he was 10 years o … [Read more...]
