Scientology often claims that it does NOT require money before auditing services will be provided. Anyone who has ever been in a scientology org KNOWS this is a lie. But scientology continues to make this claim, because it makes them sound "humanitarian" and beneficent. It is also one of the lies they foisted off on the IRS, claiming a large percentage of their services were delivered "free of charge." Of course, they did not mention that "free services" are "introductory" services, the ones designed to get you in the door and sitting in front of a "registrar" who gets you to pay for your … [Read more...]
Scientology’s Money Grabbing
This is an important survey put together by Jeffrey Augustine and first published on his blog. I am republishing it here for anyone who may have missed it there. When someone gives money to scientology, they are led to believe that should they be dissatisfied all they need to do is ask and their money will be cheerfully refunded with the only condition being that they are no longer able to participate in scientology services. Of course, those who want their money back don't really want to continue participating, so this is never a big deal when they hand over their cash. What they … [Read more...]
The Fun Never Stops
So, the building is done and is being yanked into life on Saturday. But scientology NEVER tires of collecting money for their worthy causes (anything that results in more money for scientology is worthy/humanitarian). Though they collect tens of millions for "dissemination campaigns" and "planetary dissemination" and "ideal orgs" (beyond just the building fundraising) there is NOTHING in scientology that is identified as a valuable CAUSE on which to spend money, unless it is also a cause to COLLECT money. And they ALWAYS collect more than they spend. Apparently they cannot spend a few … [Read more...]
CCHR Fund Raising
I have often commented about scientology being masters of disaster capitalism -- taking advantage of any disaster or tragedy as a reason to collect more money. And here is the latest. Cashing in on the tragedy of mass school shootings. Let's begin with a fundamental: because two things are connected does not mean one is causative. When it rains, umbrellas appear that are otherwise not seen. A fool might conclude that umbrellas cause rain. When someone is mentally deranged enough to murder children in a school, it is more likely than not that they have been in the hands of the mental … [Read more...]
A Scientology Price List
This promotional piece was forwarded to me recently. Posting it here for posterity and to highlight once again the money insanity of scientology. They call them "donations" -- but don't try telling them you feel like donating a little less today, or nothing at all. You will quickly discover these are not "donations" they are fees. This price list is for Class V orgs in the UK. It is provided by New Era Publications because they sell the materials. Thus, they have an interest in selling training. Nobody else cares much about this in scientology these days. They focus on … [Read more...]
The Ultimate Sleazy Fundraiser
Anything is good reason to hand over your cash in the world of scientology... A disaster. A new building. Ron's birthday. Your birthday. The end of the year. Thursday at 2. The Super Bowl... But this one, from Mr. CCHR himself, the Financial Investment Advisor, Author, IAS Freedom Medal Winner, Keynote Speaker, IAS Reg and all around homo novis, is over the top even by scientology standards: Bruce Wiseman is pitching people to give $20 a month for the "majestic" commercials (this last one was anything BUT majestic -- confusing drivel more like, with a condescending "we thought so" … [Read more...]
Thursday Funnies
Well, that's odd... Shane Brockdorff thinks he was sent to AOSHANZO by LRH. Strange thing, I was WDC Sea Org at that time and put together the "Command Team" with Greg Wilhere and others and sent them to set up the first new AO since AOLA. LRH had nothing to do with it. A closed door announcement? They don't want anyone to know what they are announcing? Find a Ruin Everytime It's easy. Just tell people they are depressed, uncertain, unhappy, irresponsible, unrealistically happy, gleeful etc etc until they agree with something. Works everytime. Or every … [Read more...]
Scientology Gives Money Back??
An interesting article in the Tampa Bay Times with one of the most misleading headlines of all time! Some excerpts below: She donated nearly $300,000 to Church of Scientology, which doesn’t want it The Church of Scientology is shunning a $278,158 donation because of concerns it might have been "ill-gotten" and "misappropriated." Susan Taylor Martin Published: January 5, 2018 On her Cozy Cottages website, Olga Favrow called herself one of the "leading authorities on real estate" in Tampa Bay. "You’ve come to the right place!’’ the site sa … [Read more...]
Aftermath The Business of Religion Special: The Aftermath
Scientology's usual response to each episode of The Aftermath appeared on their hate site before the show had even finished airing. They focused their attention on Mat Pesch and Jeffrey Augustine. They KNOW they cannot make the same sort of insane rants about Luis Garcia or Ted Babbitt because they will present it before the Judge in their case. So, they stay mum and pretend they did not appear on the show. How embarrassing it would be to have a judge read their drivel. But Mat and Jeffrey of course got the full "scientology treatment." Mat of course is the "unvetted Mat … [Read more...]
WD 40?
This is pretty much a throw-away post for today. The relentless drive for "donations" gives birth to some really cray cray stuff. The opportunities for innuendo and puns are almost endless with something like this. I will leave that to the many humorous commenters that frequent this site. As I said, for personal reasons I don't have much time to devote to putting together a decent post today. Hope Tony O has something good... … [Read more...]
