What can Miscavige do to respond to Hurricane Leah? She is blowing his house down and it is a storm that comes on top of severe damage already inflicted on the once apparently impregnable fortress of scientology. It has been building throughout the year -- Going Clear at Sundance got the ball rolling. Followed by the revelations from the PI's tailing his father which thrust scientology back into the headlines. Losing tax exemption in the Netherlands. Tony Ortega's Unbreakable Miss Lovely, a never ending stream of Narconon bad news. And much more. And now Troublemaker has stepped it up … [Read more...]
Scientology “Dead Agents” Itself
As the media onslaught surrounding Troublemaker continues unabated, now hitting Entertainment Tonight, People mag, the Washington Post and everywhere else you turn, scientology is in bunker mode. Refusing all media inquiries for "spokespeople" and dishing out the same old cut and paste "responses." And as with every media who has sought to cover anything related to scientology, ABC received the usual litany of letters prior to the airing of the 20/20 piece. Each of them complains about how their sources are disreputable liars, every question the media asks is ludicrous and accusing them of … [Read more...]
Some Random Thoughts on Leah Remini
A few random thoughts about the Leah Remini media storm that is growing by the hour. ♦ The response from Katie Holmes was all class. Back during the frenzy that surrounded her split from TC and subsequent divorce I commented that she had handled the whole thing with skill and aplomb. Now you can add grace to that list. Some have criticized her for not saying enough. I applaud her for saying anything at all. She had no need. Her few carefully chosen words communicated an enormous amount -- and clearly had the intended effect on the one person audience she was addressing them to. Leah's r … [Read more...]
Scientology “responds” to Leah Remini
There has been a massive amount of media following the ABC 20/20 interview with Leah on Friday evening. One of the more complete stories covering the show was in USA Today (not normally their forte...) and within that story (and some others) they link to the Scientology response they regurgitated on Friday night (regurgitated because it is virtually the same statement they have made to every piece of media coverage since 2007). That response speaks loudly to the mindset of scientology, the policies it follows in dealing with those it doesn't like who happen to be covered by the media, and … [Read more...]
Happy New Year
To everyone that is part of the extended family that gathers here to share views, to see what's going on or are just a little curious -- Happy New Year. 2013 has been an adventure. I sincerely appreciate the encouragement and support I have received from so many of you. Over the past few days, Tony Ortega has recapped the year and if you haven't caught up with it, do so at his blog. A LOT has happened. The landscape of the Scientology world has shifted. In my view there were two monumental events in the last year: 1. Monique Rathbun filing her lawsuit. To mix metaphors -- this is a … [Read more...]
Leah Remini On A Roll
These two pieces may not have been seen by everyone, but they are worth viewing. They are perfect examples of the PR meltdown that is taking place before our very eyes. For some time ABC has been cowed by legal threats. This one breaks the ice. I know it was on Tony Ortega's blog, but it was at the end of a series of stories and I am not sure if everyone saw it. And Wendy Williams is simply fearless. Breaking News [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uLXBUIVU-PE&feature=player_embedded#t=8] … [Read more...]
Leah Remini vs. David Miscavige
The old saying goes, "Never pick a fight with anyone who buys ink by the barrel." A modern translation, "Never pick a fight with anyone who has a large social media profile." And with that in mind, we see this statement from David Miscavige this morning: Good Morning America reported Tuesday that they had received comment from the Church of Scientology that said, "We know this may come as a surprise to someone as self-absorbed as Ms. Remini, but we could care less if she wins or loses on Dancing With the Stars." One thing you can ALWAYS tell from Miscavige's media and court statements - … [Read more...]
Dance With Leah
Tonight is the first show of the new season of Dancing With The Stars. Of course, the biggest news of the new season is the inclusion of Leah Remini after her headline making break with the church over disconnection, the disappearance of Shelly Miscavige, and the lies that were told to her. The most recent headlines have centered around her comment on the Ellen show that she "lost a lot of friends" as a result of her brave public departure. It's time to show her how many friends she has made. You can vote after the show airs tonight. It broadcasts on ABC (in the US) at 8pm. Watch the show … [Read more...]
The Church of Spin
Miscavige sockpuppet, Karin Pinocchio Pouw is at it again. The "church," as they always do, have turned the Shelly Miscavige missing person report into an excuse to launch more of their patented footbullets. With a straight face, they are alleging to the Hollywood Reporter and other media that this is "ill-advised, ludicrous self-promotion"? Say what? Does anyone in the world, other than the most addicted KoolAid drinker, really believe that filing a missing person report is "ill-advised", or better yet "ludicrous self-promotion". It is clear from the media reports that the … [Read more...]
Scientology Spokespuppet Footbullets
Karin Pinocchio Pouw -- the woman behind the curtain that is the name affixed to the public statements of the man behind the woman behind the curtain, David Miscavige -- has stepped in it once again. Responding to reporter Dana Kennedy in a piece published this morning in the Hollywood Reporter, Pouw/Miscavige once again assert that disconnection does not exist, it is merely a "personal choice." Here is a passage from the article: Karin Pouw, a spokesperson for the Church of Scientology, tellsTHR that there is no such policy of disconnection. "While none of this is a comment about … [Read more...]
