I saw this quote on the wall when we were visiting the Headley family home recently. I think it is very appropriate to a lot of people who were in the bubble, or are still in and may be inspired to step out. Enjoy. … [Read more...]
Scientology and Cancer by Andy Porter
I have known Andy Porter for many, many years. I had not heard from him in some time. He was somewhat of a legend due to his work opening Russia and many of its former satellites to scientology. Andy spent many years defining the term “pioneer.” He was an unsung hero who did a lot of the REAL work behind the scenes that ended up being glorified in IAS Freedom Medal winner videos and other event presentations. Andy now hails from the northwestern corner of Washington State where he lives with his wife and son. He is an accomplished landscape photographer focused on capturing the beauty … [Read more...]
Jim Faust Makes His Views Known
Public Announcement Jim Faust I was in Scientology for 27 years, 6 years of that time as a Sea Org member in the LA area. I was posted at USLO, ASHOD, The Excalibur, Pac Estates, FOLOWUS, and the Pac RPF. I routed out of the SO from the RPF in 1978. For the next 19 years, I was a public Scn, sometimes very dedicated, sometimes experiencing misgivings and disagreements, most of which I was able to push out of my mind fairly successfully. I gradually did my OT levels up to OTVII, which I audited on for over 4 years. I did not experience a lot of gains on the OT levels. The amount of … [Read more...]
David Braverman — A Too Familiar Story
For those of you who don’t know me, my name is David Braverman and I live in East Falls, which is a suburb of Philadelphia, with 2 cats and an amazing Steinway baby grand built in 1914. I have 3 kids, although their mother Andrea and I are divorced. I own a wholesale bakery which delivers fresh European-style bread every day throughout Philadelphia, and frozen bread all over the country. It’s really quite a big business, even though I didn’t plan it that way. Oh, and I’m an SP, and I didn’t plan that either. In fact, I never would have believed it when all this started, which was in N … [Read more...]
A Lot To Be Thankful For
Thursday Funnies will be published tomorrow. I wanted to take a moment on Thanksgiving to reflect on what I believe is important in life and what we should be truly thankful for: 1. Family -- except in rare circumstances (unfortunately not so rare for readers here) they are always there for you. Don't ever take them for granted. 2. Real friends -- who share their friendship because they want to and not because anyone tells them they should or shouldn't be. Real friends would never abandon you because someone told them you were bad. Real friends are there for you to share good times … [Read more...]
Bob and Sharon Graham
My name is Robert (Bob) Graham and I was a public member, in good standing with the church of Scientology for over 35 years. I reached the level of OT5 and Class 5 auditor before I left the organization, permanently in 2010. I have not previously spoken about my experiences in the church because my daughter and her family are still “in.” I thought that we could work things out and keep the family unit in place but since my wife I and left, my daughter and her family, including our grandchildren, have all disconnected from us. I believe it is in the best interest, to let everyone know that the d … [Read more...]
Ian Lee Rocks
Just a bit of fun for Saturday. Ian Lee, who has written two posts here, performed in St Petersburg with his band (Led Zeppelin II) last night. He is the perfect example of someone living life large after departing from the RCS. And he is a mighty impressive drummer who does the memory of John Bonham proud, even rocking his most famous solo on Moby Dick. The little clip just gives a glimpse. Seeing the show is thoroughly entertaining, especially if you are a Led Zeppelin fan (and if not, you will probably become one, it is a reminder of the enormous number of incredible songs they wrote and … [Read more...]
Terry Brawley — Life Is Good
Another in the series of "Life Is Good." I have known Terry since I worked with him in OSA in the 80's and 90's. Terry is one of the nicest people I have ever had the pleasure to call friend. He is a talented stained glass artist, photographer and also runs guided kayak tours out of Venice, Florida. It makes me very happy to see him doing so well. Mike My history with Dianetics goes back to 1951 in Wichita. I started reading Scn. books in late 1968 in the Ozarks, and moved to Florida to join staff in early 1969. I did the usual...volunteered, did basic courses, and when old enough, joined … [Read more...]
Mike Wreggitt Speaks
Following is a posting sent in to me by Mike Wreggitt. It falls into the category of some of the earlier postings I called "Life Is Good." Things have been a bit frantic with "hard news", so this is a nice change of pace. Hey, I wanted to introduce myself to the independent Scientology community. My name is Mike Wreggitt. I’ve made a few posts a year or so ago on Marty’s blog, under my own name, but other than that I haven’t been too vocal. Also, I’m #140 on the Indie 500 list. What I have been doing is I’ve been on course, at The Courseroom in Georgia, on my Solo 1, under the course supervi … [Read more...]
Haydn James: Life Out From Under Corporate Scientology — Freedom!
This is the next in the series of "Life is Good" postings from people who are flourishing and prospering after leaving corporate Scientology. Mike Rinder The freedom to be, do and above all, have Haydn James Well, the nightmares did eventually end. I no longer woke up in a sweat. It was always the same nightmare, always the same scenario – despite being on staff for 31 years and having left staff and the Church of Scientology, I mistakenly thought I had somehow returned and was back in the grip of David Miscavige’s corporate Scientology. But after some months the nightmares ended. Now, e … [Read more...]
