They say a picture is worth a thousand words….
This is today’s topsy turvy world of scientology — what is up (the Bridge) is down. What is down (stat) is straight up and vertical.
Progress in Scientology these days is going back and starting it all over again. You didn’t make it. Back down the snake you go. And now you can buy a new ladder from us. Only problem is, we keep adding more snakes.
The real End Phenomena of involvement in the church of scientology is going ALL the way to the bottom of the bridge, sliding right off and realizing you are no longer a scientologist.
And that is the ONLY straight up and vertical statistic they have.
Kathy, you are the perfect example — you have done virtually everything there is no both sides of the Grade Chart.
You still haven’t achieved the promised land — so back to the beginning and start all over again. Are you going to retread the Levels and Briefing Course and Class VIII? Not to mention restudy the Basics and PTS/SP and Solo Course. After all, you OBVIOUSLY didn’t know how to study when you false attested to all those courses. Right? Are you re-doing the Purif yet? Objectives?
This is the scientology equivalent of sending Derek Jeter back to Little League because they have developed some new training techniques for 7 year-olds that are proving very effective. And because the MLB Commissioner says to do it, he dutifully reports to play T-ball.
There can be only one point to this. If you can get people to do things that are against their own interest, you have power over them.
It’s what cults do.
And here is the latest poster child for this cult.

What is the pre-requisite for studying the Class VI? Processing level of CLEAR. Per LRH.
Why?
Because a CLEAR has a new point of view from where to undestand things. Therefore it is valid to study again ALL the BOOKS, ALL the materials, and now add new ones, and all in the timeline secquence of its development-refinement.
I am not convinced of investing all the time needed to do that but… I can see the logic of it. And also at the OTVIII level, might be valid again, specially at that level!
Who has not understood better Dianetics Book One, after some processing?
Who has not understood better Science of Survival after some auditing. Either receiving or giving it. Even after suffering a physical trauma and recovering from it.
The UNDERSTAING, changes depending on the point of view and the awareness witch which it is attained.

COROLLARY: Identification is the inability to evaluate differences in time, location, form, composition or importance.
Chuck Beatty says
I trained a good number of smart students of the Scientology materials, I listened to what the students commented upon, I didn’t treat every hand raised as evidence of a student’s misunderstood and I didn’t treat them in any make wrong fashion.
The students study LRH’s writings, and almost every bulletin and policy letter has one or another concept that is the key of that writing. Some writings have ideas that are plucked out, to understand, for one’s job or post. Some ideas in the writing (HCOB or PL) have meaning in another field, in multiple situations.
The whole purpose of studying anything, can be for enjoyment alone. Enjoyment of the ideas.
I would not, for instance restudy Introduction to the Ethics Book, today, unless to critique the lack of Boards of Review, lack of applying the key phrase the in official Scientology don’t apply, the phrase about always taking into consideration the value of the person’s overall contributions even when they are found “guilty” of this or that misdemeanor or crime.
Some bulletins, I ready today, to relay to researchers, so they get those nuggets, like the Time Track Bulletins on the NED Course today, are important to relate to the Factors, for instance.
There are some interesting nuggest here and there, and even in the policy letters.
I don’t believe in wasting one’s time, there are so much more important authors to read for knowledge about life than LRH, today I am not a Scientologist, but I only sometimes feel compelled to comment the devil’s advocate support for “times over equals certainty” rationale of restudying ANY of Hubbard’s writings.
The slavishness and totalitarian control shouldn’t be done, obviously. Scientologists ought to just study for the reason like in the “Why TRs” movie, the point that in future lives, on other planets, they might have wished they studied the tech better, so they can recall it when they find themselves on some future planet out in the cosmos which is decayed and they might wish to get Scientology going there from memory, which is one of the points of the Briefing Course “Why TRs” tech film.
The most important practices of Scientology are the auditing and exorcism/auditng of the OT levels.
The legacy was supposed to be the tech.
This thread was about the clubbed whales play acting along with doing everything over and over.
And paying for it.
Jeff Hawkins’ interview by Jeff Augustine, mentioned on Tony Ortega’s recent blog thread, about Miscavige never knowing what he was doing in terms of choking off the Div 6 lines into the orgs, and Tony Ortega comments in that blog thread, to me, are the current scene. No inflow of new people, and the clubbed whales being the movement’s money flow.
Restudying, times over, isn’t wrong, one even being “forced” to redo things, one can just erase in one’s mind the evilness of one’s jailer, and just rethink to oneself that one is simply going to take that opportunity to restudy this or that of LRH’s ideas, again. (Keeping the principle of “Why TRs” in the back of one’s mind!)
One final devil’s advocate for LRH, the future, “look ahead” he somewhere commented in his final Ron’s Journals somewhere. That thought from him pierced me then, also having read the script or treatise by LRH on “Why TRs”, the “look ahead” concept, is more important than why one is restudying the legacy of the tech.
I do think that a trained and very reasonable Scientologist could survive in this official Scientology climate, by pulling out a bunch of LRH’s other ideas to justify withstanding the current totalitarianism.
I don’t believe in the soul, nor thetans, nor body thetans, nor Xenu, nor even past lives, so I can’t support any step taken in Scientology though. But if I believed in the soul/thetan, then I could fashion LRH’s ideas in a way to suffer through this Miscavige era. But I’d do join the freezone rather than waste money on official Scientology. (But there are too many other of LRH’s ideas that are just plain bad, and those bad ideas have to be constantly avoided and left in disuse, and the whole thing seems a waste of time to me today since I don’t believe in the soul.)
Peter Turner says
I joined Scientology to help create a world without war, insanity and crime. I used to believed it was possible and others believed it too. But now? War is still with us – crime is on the rise and I don’t know if Scientology is now certifiably insane yet but it is certainly “crazy”. I now think that the world would be better off without Scientology. So I spent 35 years waisting my time.

I now think that the world would be better off without Scientology. So I spent 35 years waisting my time.”
I understand this reasoning. It was my own for many years after getting out of Scientology.
But there is a flaw in it.
Actually several.
Flaw #1: From the very first time you read “The Creed of the Church of Scientology” to find out what “we of the Church believe”, you were being lied to. In innumerable ways, and by many people for very different reasons, you were being presented with a false picture of what Scientology itself was all about.
For you, Scientology held all your hopes and dreams for a better world. And when you read The Creed of the Church that first time, it was written specifically to correspond with your “buttons” and to make you feel that Scientology was just like you. The Creed of the Church of Scientology was actively and intentionally created to deceive you.
You did not now at that time that if you followed every point of the Creed, you would get into ethics trouble with the Church. And if you continued to follow the Creed, you would be expelled, declared, and fair-gamed.
You could not have known that, because it was actively being withheld from you throughout the time you spent in the Church as a Scientologist. You could not have known for instance that Int Base itself was the place were all the lies emanated to Scientologists.
As a Scientologist, you were not even allowed to know where Int Base was located.
Think about that.
You had clues that you were being lied to, but these were very easily explained away. And they were actively explained away whenever they revealed themselves.
In order to accurately weigh the gains and the losses of spending so much time in Scientology, you have to factor in the onslaught of lying and deception that you were being subjected to.
And then you have to do something that Scientologists are taught NEVER to do: You have to realize that you are not responsible for being lied to.
The people who lied are responsible for the lies they told you.
The people who were lied to are not responsible for being lied to.
The point at which you became responsible for being deceived, is the point at which you had enough information to see that you were being lied to. And it is at the exact point that you must assess your actions, and ask yourself whether you are proud of what you did, or ashamed of what you did.
But there is no shame in being actively lied to.
Flaw #2: Stephen Hassan, in his work with former cult members of every kind, points out how often it occurs that the people who are followers of the cult leader are more intelligent, more sane, and much more spiritually insightful than the cult leader himself.
Often, the cult member, because they are so sincere and devoted to their own spiritual advancement using the cult’s beliefs and practices, produce extremely valid “wins” that the cult leader never even thought could happen.
This happened routinely around L Ron Hubbard. The development of the technology of Scientology which occurred at Saint Hill in the 60’s was a kind of Thomas Edison light bulb factory situation where Edison himself is not the guy to have invented the lightbulb – one of the engineers that worked for him did that. Edison just took the credit for it and no one ever found out about the real inventor.
L Ron Hubbard routinely took the “tech” developed by SHSBC students and claimed it for himself. And then declared or discredited the real authors of the tech because he was afraid their influence would surpass his own.
Again, this is something that you could not have been aware of because you were actively lied to about it.
What you did with the information once you found out about it is the point at which you were responsible, and not before.
Flaw #3: The human mind has certain biases which routinely, and falsely, color the perceptions of people called cognitive biases. One of the most important for a former cult member to know about is called the “hindsight bias”, or the “I knew it all along” effect.
The Hindsight Bias occurs when:
Hindsight bias is the central plague of the Ex-Scientologist.
Go back to BEFORE you knew what you know now and look at the environment you were in and the information and the resources that you had at your disposal to learn the truth about Scientology. And don’t forget to factor in the huge onslaught of social coercion you were under as a Scientologist.
Also, you can not forget to factor in where Scientology was actually helping you to overcome real problems in your life.
There are many reasons that you could not know what you know now about Scientology.
So, Peter, I question your rationale, and your conclusion, that “I spent 35 years wasting my time.”
I think that when you look at things from the perspective above, you will come to another rationale, and another conclusion.
Been there done that, dude.
No need to catastrophize.

Alanzo
Peter Turner says
To quote Monty Python “Well I didn’t expect the Spanish Inquisition.” But for the most part, Alanzo, I agree with you. I will go even further and say that the old man stole all of it. I know some of the people who made the discoveries for Mr. Hubbard. I also know where he got the original concepts for Dianetics and who did it all for him. Then he stole it all and pretended that it was all his own. Everything about the man was a sham and a scam. He didn’t “research and develop” Dianetics, He did not come up with Scientology (not even the name is not original) He did not invent or even modify the e-meter. His green on white policy is so bad that, if followed to the letter, is guaranteed to send a business into bankruptcy and without an army of slave labourers the church would not have survived.
I was not that badly off when I discovered Scientology but at first (as you rightly pointed out) I did originally think that it overcame some real problems that I was having in my life. The reality was that it destroyed my health, my wealth, my marriage, it alienated me from my family and turned me into some kind of religious fanatic for a long time.
So although there are some benefits that can be gained from the knowledge the real question is
“Would you be better off or worse off in your life if you had never come across Scientology.”
My answer to that question is that without doubt I would have been much much better of if I had never heard of Scientology.
Mike Rinder says
Well, the problem here Peter is that you are at the wrong blog. Comments like this do nothing here other than elicit responses disagreeing with you (as I would with respect to a lot of what you have written). There are other places that you will find an audience.
You may not be aware, but I originally started this blog to reach those still inside the bubble and those sitting on the fringes with information that might help them find some truth. Those people will never agree with assertions that everything Hubbard wrote was stolen, or that he had no original thought or that you would have been better off dead than in scientology. I would never expect them to.
If this blog turns into endless comments trashing everything about scientology and/or L. Ron Hubbard then it loses its purpose for existing.
I am all for free speech and consider that differing opinions, as long as they are civilly presented, are healthy. But there is a limit here because of the intended audience. You can hammer away as long and loud as you want on ESMB or Clambake or Tony’s unmoderated comments section. You will find plenty of people who agree with you.
I know that as soon as you try and tell someone still sipping KoolAid that everything they have ever experienced is a lie and a waste of time, you have lost your audience.
Chuck Beatty says
Oh come on Mike!
Times over equals certainty!
This is organized strategic enforced “times over equals certainty”, and exchanging of donations, is all.
joke.
One thing I have noticed, is there are ebbs of people on the Briefing Course, at least in Los Angeles.
To me, thinking of who to actually consider is a “good Scientologist”, would be someone who made the commitment to complete the Briefing Course.
The Scientology “faith” to me, was belief in past and importantly, belief in future lives.
The movie starring the late Isaac Hayes, “Why TRs”, has within it, the challenge to remember the tech so well, have it IN your mind so well, as to carry it with your little thetan mind, when you continue, in your future lives.
In that vein, in this vein of being so completely immersed in the “basics” and ALL of Hubbard’s “legacy of tech”, so that you really have it like your own thinking process, that when you return in future lives, even on distant decayed civilizations like are shown in the movie “Why TRs” (which is only shown to public on the Briefing Course), that to me justified studying Hubbard’s “tech” until one knew it as innately as the young hero in the “Why TRs” movie who is teaching or lecturing the “tech” of TRs/communication, auditor plus pc is greater than pc’s bank, principle.
To to me, the “times over equals certainty”, seemed valid if the person wished to repeat repeat repeat study of the tech, with the Isaac Hayes movie principle in mind.
So even though I’m joking, one could be a whale and also a clubbed seal at the same time, and still be doing the restudy over and over, with the Isaac Hayes movie principle in mind!

fact of life: people have to come to the truth in their own time and some run out of time.
one thing i find typical among scientologists, former and the like, is they believe shooting the messenger refutes the message. it’s true of the human race as a whole but runs higher than average among certain groups.
only when they are finally ready to hear it, does it penetrate.
ONE, just ONE actual OT8 would take over the world. period. there is NO STOPPING anyone who can exteriorize over the western hemisphere. who can travel to the moon and redirect missiles aimed at earth.
these are not things i am making up, those are scientologists saying those things, things that you CAN’T invalidate nor evaluate nor reason out. not because it’s not possible to do those things but because the tech says it’s bad to be reasonable, to evaluate, to invalidate.
if that does not strike a person as ludicrous, self evidently stupid and contradictory. then it’s all on you. only when you want to see the logic will you see the logic.
it doesn’t matter if OT9 is made up or not, it will work just as well as the rest of the OT levels.
for the believers in LRH, if you don’t like what i said, too bad you can’t evaluate or invalidate it.
try running the doubt formula without using reasoning and evaluation or invalidation. go ahead try it.
you can’t do it without using those things. you have to violate the tech to use the tech.
as far as i can tell ALL scientologists of ANY stripe live just like the rest of us live. they are not anymore successful, or intelligent, or capable, they get sick and hurt like the rest of us. if you prick them they bleed and if you tickle them they laugh. having the tech and not having the tech makes no difference that can be noticed.
that is the message. the messenger is WhiteStar. they are two different things. you can bury the messenger but that has nothing to do with the message.

The Flashbacks like the Jensens and the Parodys and others of their ilk in my opinion feel they are the noblis oblige of Scientology and are there to lead all us poor benighted literally toward a “Golden Age of Tech”.

I didn’t the Fort Harrison has become a recycling center… Can I drop off my aluminum cans there???
How appropos that a bubble-dwelling, kool-aid drinker like Kathy Feshbach is the poster child for the recycled and regurgitated bridge to total free-dumb…
It occured to me the other day that “the bubble” of Scientology is a self-protecting mechanism that shuts out all “entheta” (truth) by various thought-stopping mechanisms. The bubble reinforces itself and propagates itself like it has a life of it’s own. Perhaps “the bubble” should be called “the blob”…
Case in point, look at all the people who have defected from the Int Base over the last ten years and have spoken out against the abuses. Marty Rathbun, Mike Rinder, Jefferson Hawkins, Amy Scobee, Marc Headley, to name just a few whistleblowers. In spite of all this, inside the bubble, these people are just “bitter defrocked apostates” or some such. Everything they say must be discounted because they are “declared SPs”, regardless of whether it’s true or not. COB is still the ass that must be kissed.
Another case in point, look what happened to Debbie Cook for writing the email that even suggested that the church had gotten off purpose with all its crush regging and “fundraising events”, etc. Everyone in the bubble disconnected from her almost overnight, thanks in part to the “Facebook police” (who also part of the bubble’s self-protecting mechanism).
I think confronting some of the “inconvenient truths” within the church is just too uncomfortable for some people; it’s a lot easier to remain in a state of self delusion, especially when it’s re-inforced by like-minded bubble dwellers, all connected on Facebook, all in “good standing”. It’s like they’re all PTS to the middle class in the sense that they don’t want to rock the boat or upset the status quo (actually, they are all PTS to Miscavige to some degree). So much for a religion that likes to tout “Dare to Think For Yourself”. Hardly.

Hi Mike.
A disrelated comment but thought I’d throw it in.
I was in Safeway last night here in Honolulu. Richard and Ramina Nunley approached me. (Ex SO. Long time Scn) They are on the islands for some business. I think the last time I saw them was 10 years ago.. I believe they were on the RPF.. one was getting offloaded and the other went with. A tribute to their marriage at least.
After the hi’s and hello’s, the first question RIchard asks is “Are you in good standing?”. I told him that as far as I knew I was (besides no mail from the C of S, I have never received any ethics order”).
Was really the first contact with someone in “good standing” that I have had for some years.
Richard’s question came with a hunted look. Richard mentioned a daughter he had in Hollywood who owns a floral shop. He obviously will do nothing to jeopardize that relationship so is keeping his head down.
I’d forgotten the culture where one can’t really say anything in fear of being reported on. A walking North Korea. He is probably checking out my status currently. Gave him my cell but no call or contact.
I’m just happy to live in Hawaii, live and think as I see fit, talk to who I want to talk to, and make my own decisions without concern about some “higher authority” judging it all for me.
I really don’t see how any case gain is possible for someone on lines operating under the constraints that exist currently. If we are all going to retread from the ground up, how could anyone in the Church attest to Grade 0? (Free to communicate on any subject).
Maybe the internal implosion/explosion will occur when they reach that one the second time through.
Keep up the good work Mike. I don’t comment much, but read what you have to say daily. Take note OSA.
Best,
Mark

“A walking North Korea.” For some reason that really resonates for me. For years and years the previous “standard question” I’d get from meeting people for the first time in years was, “Are you on lines?” And it didn’t really matter what I said or if what I did say made any real sense.
“Yeah, I’m re-reading SOS and demoing how 1.1 works to my cat.”
“Oh, that’s cool. I should try that.”
And then we’d swap very superficial stories of the “old days” and go about our business in the produce section. The point is that these exchanges were meaningless but sought after with such serious intensity that it was downright creepy. They needed to know if I was on lines, because those were “safe words.”. Off lines meant trouble, meant disaffected, meant they could spontaneously contract some horrific STD or something, standing right there next to the zucchinis.
I always wondered, “what the hell did it matter? They hadn’t seen me in 10-15 years, I could’ve become a chronic liar in that time.”
Anyway Mark, you story provoked an interesting reaction in me — thanks.

Post after post I read about current RCS members stripping themselves of any remaining dignity and integrity, and doing it with a smile. I ponder – what could they be looking at that would cause them to not see what is actually there? It’s like one of those 1970s art house prints, where you had to stare at it in just a certain way – and then suddenly you’d see the image of a cow pissing on a flat rock. Only, I haven’t seen that image yet, the “thing” they seem to be enamored with that allows them to degrade their knowingness on such a wide and entertaining scale.
But there she is. holding up her new cert, like Rafiki holding up baby Simba, in The Lion King. How many past wins and successes in applying the “old” Study Tech, is she having to not-is at this very moment? What must be forgotten for this moment to take place at all?

I’d forgotten about her until I listened to this song and then clicked on in a short CBC interview with Gomeshi that was one of the follow on options. I think there is more life wisdom in hearing her talk, and the poetic words of her music, than in listening to what Miscavige’s COS has to say – check it out.

Excellent analogy with Derek Jeter, but a church member could hear you say that and justify it even more, such as:
“Yea, but you’re comparing the only hope for the salvation of mankind to baseball. Derek Jeter is not going to sacrifice his eternity by not going back to little league,” or something like that.
If someone said that to me I would have to try to get them to realistically weigh out the advantages of re-studying everything from the beginning to get more out of it, compared to the disadvantages. And to look at what the person is really trying to achieve with Scientology compared with whether or not what they are doing is really going to achieve that or not.
It would require sound logic and honest evaluation.
It wouldn’t be easy to get someone to do that if they have been so heavily indoctrinated as church members have been, but that’s what anyone needs to do to get past the lies and the hype.

I consider the objectives a trap. It is reverse auditing. Compare with Philadelphia Doctorate Course. The PDC and 8-8008 are exactly 180 degree to Objectives. Those that did not make it back into the body have to re do, re do and re do. Try to handle MEST with intention and control. This digs you in further into the MEST trap. If you study the materials carefully then you can know that. I did listen to the first 40 tapes of the briefing course. 1 hour objectives and 1 hour sec checking. Sec Checking. Consider, our current concept of an overt run on whole track. Another trap.

So any processing that validates the physical universe is processing that digs you into that universe. By the statements of PDC lectures. His own words and concepts.

As you cannot undo what you did by doing so. And as you cannot find the “basic basic”. Thus the whole chain from then on is in restimulation. (the GPM item on the bottom of the chain) Effect of all that: you have to withhold yourself. In do, talk, think and act.
All Scientology wraps around Security Checking (overts, ethics) and Objectives (MEST, money, status…) Thus the years of false application of the basics of life brought about an over restimulation and finally the dramatization of those points.
Out of the trap:
Do not run Objectives. / they have their use, but not for the normal public and especially not for OTs.
Do not run Security checking or any “self auditing” overt withhold write up. You cannot win that “game” of being a good member.
Try to destimulate. There are 286 GPMs with more than 20.000 hot items. Run away from Scientology as far and fast as possible.(source: SHSBC-392 14 JUL 64 TRACK AND BANK ANATOMY (confidential) )
And:
“MODIFIER, a modifier is that consideration which opposes the attainment of a
goal and tends to suspend it in time” (tech Dic)
SECURITY CHECKING TWENTY-TEN THEORY HCO BULLETIN OF 11 JANUARY 1962
“If the whole GPM keys out, one need only find a goal and MODIFIER to key it in again.”
A sec check list is full of “modifiers”. So, reading a sec check list to the PC what you do?
OT 1.1 says
Schorsch, well done explained!
Julius says
I love how you explained it, but let’s add more points of view! (I do not know where to discuss Tech with real thinkers, seems to me you are one of the few!)
1. Introversion and extroversion, both aspects of freedom about objects.
Freedom: Could be defined by the absence of barriers, the absence of limitations. That is equivalent to “be able to be (located) or not to be, to do or not to do, to have or not to have”. Simply put, can get in and can get out of anything.
Objectives do interiorize in order to release the locks related to them and thus eliminate any avoidance and also any fixation on the objects being used in the processes. In my personal experience, if you do not run enough a process, yes, you get somehow fixated. But that is because it was not run enough. If well run, you can see the Tone Scale unfolding dynamically along the processing time and you will eventually hit a major release, and fixations will diminish. This is my experience with a simple Reach and Withdray.
The speed in reaching and also in withdrawing, the ability to handle the objects or to think while those objects are present (physically perceived and thus possibly reestimulating something), that speed is an indicator of freedom.
So, yes, they are the opposite of any subjective (theta) processing. That is their intention, to process the relation of the thetan with MEST. It is not to process the thetan with THETA (or entheta).
2. Location of points of view by anchoring points to have a thetan and have a session.
All the lower part of the Bridge came from the OT research. And the refinements made in later years ended in Standard Tech. Which is made of very precise definitions. One that is valid and basic is “session: The pc interested in his own case and willing to talk to the auditor”.
For the basic action of auditing there must be someone present. The more the present is the pc, the better and deeper will the processing ocurr. To be there in PT, one should be in the best “not avoiding the PT” condition possible. That is why you want to have a thetan sitting in there, inside that body, being aware as much as possible. Otherwise you could be auditing a machine or a robot-humanoid PTS, or degraded being, or just the scapped mind of a SP (no thetan being aware of what is happening, no big wins, no past life memories).
Basically, you have the TRs and Objective at the start because the lower Bridge is entirely designed to PUT a PC there. And then, you make him TALK to the auditor with Grade O and have a “session”.
I have done R&W with “walls” and was formidable. But it is not just to “feel free about them and be able to spot tiny details or to jump ever them”, I have gone past that type of E/P many times. It is not enough, there is more to be run. Actually you can run up the whole Tonal Scale, or at least until a creative thinking comes about ideas (that is about +20 in the TS).
Perhaps this type of E/P cannot be reached just by a physical action by itself. I have done it. It is not the same as if you ALSO have the permit to LOOK at the bank, in that case, you just as-is (ITSA technique) freely to whatever comes, but keep doing the R/W and the case will unravel totally and the tought Emotional Tone will follow the body Emotional Tone.
Is this experience making sense to some of you reading this? I really will appreciate any exchange of points of view about what this!!!

2. Why they cancelled it? (The public excuse and the real reason)

Hard not to comment on this. If you look at Kathy’s face and the way she is holding her cert: she is quite proud of this accomplishment. That is beyond ridiculous as she has been in SCN for 30+ years, has done the Briefing Course and listened to all of the study tapes in their original context. Plus she is a recent Flag Interned GAT Class VIII. And, she did the GAT Study Certainty Course before that training.
Now, she is probably about to redo the TRs course, Upper Indocs and Metering. Not to mention Class IV/Briefing Course and Class VIII.
At least now she is doing it the way LRH intended???
I always liked Kathy, but she is such a brown-noser.
davefagen says
Sheldon,
I agree with you, and to add:
Part of the trick is that by doing those courses over again, you CAN get something out of it that you did not get before. So she re-does the Student Hat because she was told it was necessary, and she gets some things out of it that she didn’t get the first time. You can study anything multiple times and get better understandings of it each time.
So that makes it seem like, “Yea, COB was so right, and it is vital that we all do these things over again, because nobody got it right the first time, and that is why we haven’t been expanding like we should have been, and now it’s all fixed etc etc etc.”
So everyone thinks that everyone has to re-do the courses, whereas all that happened is what would always happen whenever you re-study something. It doesn’t mean that EVERYONE’s next step has to be to re-do everything over again because the materials were all wrong the first time, but that is what everyone is led to believe. And the “evidence” is that Kathy “got so much more out of it that she didn’t get the first time”.
shelgold says
Dave, I agree 100%. I actually agree with LRH that number of times over the materials equal certainty. When I did the GAT drills, I definitely got something out of them. I’m sure a medical doctor would learn something by redoing biology 101.
I’m guessing many pc’s are actually having wins redoing the objectives as well as the purification rundown.
And yes, I can not believe that the materials were all wrong the first time, or even close to it. I trained in the 70s and what we studied made a lot of sense and it worked well.
Kathy found herself at the end of the trail, so might as well go over the materials again. But, like you say, she is not having wins because it was all wrong before.
She may be a Class VIII, but she does not audit people. She reges them for IAS. I met a gal last year that was 19, had only been in SCN for less than a year and Kathy regged her for 4 patrons (160K+). Plus the girl, who the Tampa Org told me was an ethics particle, was saying how great Kathy was for taking her under her wing. (like she would’ve spent much time with her if there wasn’t any possible dono’s).
What I think is most criminal is like what Robert Almblad said above: the practicing field auditors are being regged out of existence with GAT II. Fields auditors generally don’t make a lot of money. Having to buy 2 meters at 5K each, plus the cost and time of all of the retraining. Might make sense if the auditor was screwing up and needed a retrain. Otherwise?????
hei88008 says
May it be, that the “REALLY REALLY R-E-A-L WHY” that blocked the Clearing of the planet was, that everyone got the definiton of “YOU” wrong???
Is “you” meant to be used as a SINGULAR or as a PLURAL?
Let’s just take the non-confidential HCOB “The Nature of a Being” or “History of Man” into consideration and lets use them as a reference for a possible better understanding.
a) At the beginning of The Bridge “you” are “you” (a “singular” human being)
b) Later on The Bridge “You” are “You” (somewhat more “plural” now)
c) After having availed oneself of the most upper OT-Levels “You” are finally “YOU” (supposedly a true “singular” being again)
Might that also be the reason all those OT’s had to re-study The Basics? History of Man? DMSMH? COHA?
Let’s look at the conditions with this possible new understanding:
1. Find out where “you” are. (see a) above)
2. Find out that “You” are. (see b) above)
3. Find out who “YOU” REALLY are. (see c) above)
So OF COURSE, every New OT VIII HAD TO REDO his Bridge again!!!
Now they are studying it for themselves for the VERY FIRST time.
But there is a catch to it: “Life is a GROUP activity and no one survives on his own.”
And looking at these things from this perspective, it makes completely clear, what OT IX&X has to deal with… orders of MAGNITUDE!
Just my 2 cents and to give Mr. Miscaviage a clue on how to get himself out of the corner he got himself into, after stealing and lying to the Old Man… [to be fair: in an effort to solve a problem, because LRH DID DEFINITELY NOT solve this during his final years! And “everybody” knows, that LRH developed The Bridge by UNDERCUTTING it, and after he had his “revelations” after the narcosynthesis which is somewhat similar to the insights DM got after his Asthma attack… 😉 ]
Julius says
I see your points here. You are very right.
Actually, the Bridge seems to be a straight path but if you look at it from the Tech point of view it is a streamlined of a spiral. LRH mentions many times the “inward spiral” (he uses a more fancy word).
TRs and Objectives: To put a pc there in PT.
Grade 0: To make him talk. (Now you can have a session, so let’s dwell into the GPM).
Grade I: To make even the must recognizable problems.
Grade II: How did you have problem and withold communications in the first place? (Oh, yes, by commiting overts, so let’s get rid of their major reestimulations)
By the way, those three Grades addresses exactly what addresses the rudiments at each and every session start. And the “auxiliary havingness process” is actualy a locational aiming at the same goal as the TRs and Objectives.
So the Rudiments and the TRs and Objectives are the mini-upward spiral. The mini-increasing awareness.
The TRs and Objectives and the first 3 Grades are the medium-upward spiral. The medium increasing of awareness.
Then what follows is: Well, you have got a good release and can confront a lot more. Let’s do it to a level where there is more complexity. Let’s take any upset (ARCX, Grade 0 material) and any huge problem with someone (Problems, Grade 1) and conflicting ideas-postulates-actions-morals and take them all together.
Grade III: Fixations and confusions (which are more complex problems and a broader and more detailed view on ARCX)
Grade IV: How did you came over all of that? Oh, yes, you were hiding yourself, used the autopilot of the Facsimile of Service (which makes it possible to commit overts). Let’s take those out now, then you could be You.
Well, we got out of sight what you used to a) not to be here, b) not to be You. Now you can have a deeper type of session. Let’s go now really into the mind, fully, not to release superficially but to erase diving in it completely. Because a) and b) we can have a “session”l this time of Dianetics.
Well, I think I made the point. The Bridge is an unfolding spiral of more and more abilities on a very similar type of thing. They just change in magnitud and because of that, differ also in name and a little bit of concepts, but nevertheless are fo the same nature.
Of course, OT VIII, per definition, is mega-TR0 where the Objective is the whole MEST universe surrounding the thetan. Also by definition in its statement (“get rid of the main cause of amnesia in the whole track”) is a mega-StraightWire (can recall).
So, by this logic, OT IX and X would be similar to TRs, Objectives, Grade 0 and Grade I. In a different order of magnitud. It is the unfolding of the thetan, which for the very first time is it itself since the beggining of the entrampent in MEST and thus, can extrovert (TRs. Objectives) but to bigger spheres and other dimensions, recognizes itself freely and emanates its own “character”.
Hey, but now, why limit the thetan to just Be Here, that would be invalidating. So, create be here and not be here, be other place, thus “remote viewing”. It is simply to create another point of view.
I see that powerful magic starts there. Altough many can do it to some degree even without The Bridge.
—
All of the above is parallel to
1. Where you are?
2. What are you being?
3. Who are you?
In different orders of magnitud of awareness.
Does this make sense to you? I would like your comments.
Julius says
I already answered your “you-You-YOU” comment (differences of meaning-mangnitude for the word “you”). It has a lot to do with “orders of magnitude… of BEINGNESS!!”.
Question: What and Who do y-o-u think y-o-u are?
At lower Bridge: Answer = “Me, confused”. Actuality = A thetan sitting in the middle of a lot of machinery, own and owned, just looking what happens (effect) from a single point of view.
At middle Bridge: Answer = “Me, detached from old confussions”. Actuality = A thetan held by a singular body and other minds fixations and energy connections, inadvertingly confussing own toughts with other’s.
At middle-high Bridge: Answer = “Me being held by others”. Actuality = A thetan believing he is a single entity that has to be cleaned from other-determinisms.
At high Bridge (OT VIII and beyond). Answer = “Me… but could be something else… here but could be somwhere else”. Actuality = A thetan free of great interferences that could start to decide to be more than a single entity, more than what can be defined in MEST terms, … like “I am the rain, the spirit of this forrest, I am the river, I am love-energy, I am the wind of the west….I am going to be something new in a different universe”. Now, THAT IS A DIFFERENT ORDER OF MAGNITUDE OF SELF-DEFINITION!! And a condition where definitions of CHARACTER are indeed needed, especially for helping in avoiding to assume degrading beingnesses!!
I expanded a little your explanation. It is the same concept. Thanks for trowing the ball for a hit. Now comes a Home-Run.
1st base. If Rudiments are merely to get rid of immediate interferences with session.
2nd base. If Lower Grades are merely to get rid of continuos deeper interferences to be able to address a 1st Dyn bank.
3rd base. If Lower OT levels (called pre-OT levels) are merely to get rid of other deeper interferences with self-determinism.
4t base (Home). If Middle OT levels (OT VIII … ) create a state of “being capable of stop forgeting and continuos fresh look at anything in MEST (some describe it as acquiring a stable-immense TR 0)
… then …
At between all those stages, there is LESS interference and a NEW POINT OF VIEW to understand things.
… THEN …
It might give new insights just to re-study training materials, and even exercising training abilities. Therefore it is VALID to go trough the materials again. You can expect new realizations (cognitions) in a broader sense, and new postulates on how and when to use the knowledge.
After all, the Processing side of The Bridge itself is a repeated re-loop of the same basic concepts but in wider and deeper order of magnitud. Why not to similar in the Training side of it?
Was it a Home Run in logical thinking about the structure of The Bridge?

You left the most important snake out of the picture, Mike. Its head would rest on the 100 block and its tail on the start block. THAT is the scn game of snakes ‘n ladders! 😉
SILVIA says
The only way you can re-do all this is by believing there is something to handle or, in other words, creating charge to have something to run. This will mess up your mind and case so badly that you can’t see, nor think any longer. You just follow what you are told and you just say what you are supposed to. Yes, it has become a cult.
The pretense of the win from a Class VIII redoing a quicky Student Hat is so, so unreal to me that no even the above explanation can’t appease the unreality. I can see the attendants at graduation clapping and approving such a delirious state. Hard to believe, but it is true. Thank you Mike.
Robert Almblad says
Good call Silvia: “The pretense of a win”. This is a finely honed skill learned, particularly after the 3 swing F/N was instituted. After an overrun you had to mock up something to run… you had to run it again and this time be real happy about it, or go to ethics. Ha.
And, to keep moving up the “Bridge” and remain in good standing with DM, inner circle people like Kathy have to demonstrate a big showy smile for COB. Is that smile a win? If you look at it closely, it’s more like: “see I did it. I did what I was told to do and now I am done. And, I am happy I am done digging that goddamned ditch and now I am smiling because I am done.”
There are very few people like Kathy that need to “keep up appearances” with COB. His inner circle is pretty small and GAT II will not resonate with the troops on the front line. It will empty what auditor talent is left in the Church.
James Crouch says
The staff compliance to the three swing F/N is a textbook example of the magnitude of herd conformity inside the church. Ask any skilled auditor outside of the CO$ if such a practice holds any merit to case gain. If GAG phase 2 doesn’t completly deflate whats left of the church, just wait until phase 3. You’ll see people at the Dianetics seminar donning OT 8 bracelets.
hei88008 says
Regarding the “3 swing F/N”
Did it ever occur to anyone, that this definition of F/N HAD to be changed, so as to get this
completely COMPUTERIZED new Mark Ultra VIII E-Meter to display an F/N correctly?
[or 50.000 times more accurate, as they state… mmhhhh ;-)]
An F/N is just a special needle reaction: it is a FLOATING needle…
And now try to digitize it 50.000 more often than before…
Go and look up the patents and the program flow chart.
Just my 2 cents

Robert Almblad says
And of course, all this recycling of auditors and OTs on the Bridge does NOT create any new auditors. On the contrary, they are wasting the time and money of active auditors, making their life miserable. For the few Co$ successful auditors on the planet left (if any), the GAT II idea of stopping auditing, buying $10,000 in new meters and re-doing the bottom of the Bridge instead of continuing to successfully audit other people? What is that? GAT II is a fatal stab wound right to the heart of Scientology: the auditor.
The basic business model of Scientology WAS training auditors, but that has changed. Today’s only important stat is revenue. Nothing wrong with that. All organizations need money to survive. But their business model to get the money from members has morphed into delivery of objects needed to maintain a hypnotic trance on the membership that pay money. Ideal Orgs, Super Bowl ads, Double Bacon Patron Status, extravagant events that deliver extraordinary “news” with such big whoppers that no one would think they are lying, like a million new contacts every 3 seconds, war in Asia prevented by 3 Volunteer Ministers, etc…All these things are just objects a hypnotist uses to mesmerize members into paying more money to deliver more hypnotic objects.
GAT II spells the end of Scientology as we know it because the auditor has been assassinated and the Bridge itself turned into a hamster wheel.

The pyramids were repositories for the corpses of the Pharaohs. (Did you know that Pharaoh is a synonym for tyrant?) So when Davey, um, Drops His Body, will they cut the corpse up to put relics under the altars (regges’/ethics officer’s desks) in each of his buildings? Brings an extra layer of truth to the name “Ideal Morgues”.
Sorry, Mike, I guess my sense of humor is extra morbid/savage today. But the thought of those vampires sucking the lifeblood out of their victims or breaking up another family, standing over, say, Davey’s jawbone, amuses me. At least they are happy and have a big juicy goal. I think some here lost a game and havent replaced it. I feel like that a bit so maybe I’m talking about myself. However, I don’t give a shit about what Kathy fesdhbach does with her time. If she feels good doing the new improved miscavige student hat she should go get her purif uniform and get in the sauna. I have a neighbor who is into coon (racoon) hunting. He has a bunch of expensive dogs and stuff and he goes out at night and hunts racoons which to me seems like a pretty rediculous thing to do. But he likes it. Of course he isn’t “regging” donations. I might object more if he did that.

That is a part of it. The main reason is that there is no OT 9 and above AND, OT VIII was a total crock but, the money must keep flowing in and keeping people in so the whole scam doesn’t collapse. Since LRH lied about OT, Davie was presented with a HUGE problem. Being an SP his solution was to lie to parishioners and keep taking their $.

No, they firmly believe it is coming and it is part of what keeps them doing whatever they are told is the “next thing” in order to be ready for it.
If they DONT believe this then it leaves them with a serious problem. “If this is all there is, then I am on my own. If I am not free of irrational responses to things, total cause over the MEST universe, stably exterior with full perceptions and have NO amnesia on the whole track then I have to figure out what do about it for myself instead of paying someone else to tell me what to do about it….
Terrifying thought to the KoolAid dependent.

Bleargh, only a few people, DM being one, at the top of the S.O. know that there is no OT levels & no path to OT (cause over MEST) via the “bridge”.

The land of milk and honey and virgins galore
Posted on August 6, 2010 by martyrathbun09 | 353 Comments
The following email sent out by the CO Flag Ship Service Organization is another sign of the death of the church of Scientology.
It is twisted and sick on a number of levels.
The Commanding Officer of the highest service organization regging at all marks a sad era.
Any church of Scientology staff member, let alone the CO of the FSSO, regging for IAS is doubly wicked.
The CO FSSO being given a quota by David Miscavige (who sets ALL IAS regging quotas – just ask Debbie Cook and know by her silence) for over a million dollars for the IAS is about as off purpose a management order as could be imagined.
The CO FSSO going to OT Ambassadors (presumably the highest case level, most dedicated C of M members) to enforce such an off purpose, illegal crush reg demand is simply over the top.
The worst of all this is the promise of the land of milk and honey. It is like the old assassin trick “go commit an unpardonable sin upon others, and you will be rewarded in the afterlife with streams of milk and honey and endless virgins at your disposal.” Tying their access to OT IX and X to committing financial irregularities of the highest order is simply unconsionable.
It is an outright fraud being perpetrated by David Miscavige. There is no OT IX and X. The idea of OT IX and X was a creation of Pat Broeker, dreamt up on the heels of the death of LRH to keep the masses from open revolt and keep the vampire Miscavige from his own throat. He proudly announced that “OT IX and X is compiled and ready for delivery.” Those around at the time may recall the utter shock Miscavige suffered when Broeker (with no prior coordination) surprised everyone with that out-of-the- blue announcement.
A two year series of intrigues ensued between Miscavige and Broeker jockeying to control the holy grail that did not exist. You may have listened to my story about the raid on Broeker’s ranch that I lead to retrieve LRH’s auditing files (St Pete Times video interview). That was done because Broeker said the keys to OT IX and X were in those folders and to hold DM off from deposing Broeker, Broeker threatened to have IX and X copyrighted in his own name.
When the folders turned out to contain no holy grail, Broeker then said he had other LRH writings that constituted the keys to OT IX and X. Another raid ensued – in which I coordinated a squad of armed outside security personnel to secure the premises. It will take a couple of chapters – and hopefully I’ll get the time soon to complete the entire picture – to connect all the dots on this, but suffice it to say for now, it turned out to be yet another Broeker bluff.
When Broeker’s bluffs were all called, he resorted to claiming he was channeling LRH and LRH was pissed about Broeker being reined in. Quite often the channeling revelations were done in druken stupors.
All this IX and X promise business – for insane dollar demands for, of all things, a “war chest” – are in my opinion the final step before Miscavige starts channeling LRH and telling his minions in real time what the old man is allegedly ordering.
If you learn to walk the walk – rather than becoming an at-effect psychotherapy patient addicted by guilt to his or her sessions – OT VII done honestly and thoroughly, coupled with a thoroughgoing understanding of LRH OT lectures and books in application IN LIFE you will get to where you want to go. OT VIII – unadulterated original LRH version – will connect the dots for those who don’t get there on VII. On Source VIII is akin to a CCRD for VII, you can get there on VII, or you might need to connect the dots, clarify it and validate it with VIII. But in either event, you have got to walk the walk. You cannot pay any price for it – even $25 million to the IAS won’t get you there. It is very easy to tell those calling themselves VIIIs who decidedly did not make the grade. They are still acting as sheep, pimping for Miscavige.

Apparently it is just enough Morris, to keep the sheep hoping that someday the OT levels that LRH lied about will be released. Keeps them in DM’s pen & paying for redoing the bridge, etc.

These are the comments that make me scratch my head, you guys are quick to jump on corporate scientologists for burying their heads in the sand and not looking at the lies and bullshit that are part of the CO$.
Old School makes a fair comment on the “path to OT”(no control over MEST as per LRH) and you do exactly the same thing.

Morris Adams, Old school’s comment did not give the Marty Rathbun and Sarge reference for the LRH high volt emeter story. Here it is:

Well said, Old School. I would add that not only was OT VIII a crock, but also the vaunted state of Clear.
Some very aberrated, irrational, and misemotional behavior I saw when “in” and/or on staff came from Clears.
There are many great current and former Scientologists, and most if not all of us saw what we believed to be efficacy in the tech.
But the fact remains that people see efficacy in many different approaches, and if Scientology cannot reliably and demonstrably deliver true Clears and OT VIIIs, it has abdicated its key claims. At the point of recognition that it cannot deliver a Clear or an OT VIII, its fundamental deception is exposed.
Conversely, if at some point Scientology did deliver Clear or OT VIIIs who can objectively show that they have achieved those states, then Scientology would boom — it would expand unstoppably.
The best evidence that a true state of Clear or OT VIII is not reached via Scientology is that the Church has not produced such evidence. If it existed, the Church could and should open up those states for research. However, I don’t think that anyone has tried to demonstrate the powers of even a Clear since Hubbard’s early fiasco where the “Clear” couldn’t even remember the color of the tie he was wearing; that “Clear” failed miserably even though Hubbard had seeded the audience with people who would ask questions the “Clear” was prepared for.
To my knowledge, Hubbard never again tried to parade or exhibit a supposed “Clear” to an audience that would critically examine the supposed skills and state of awareness.
Instead, he worked out a system to stop all of our thoughts from questioning these states:
— No questioning anyone: You cannot question anyone’s claim of achieving any of the end phenomena of the Grade Chart. That would be invalidation. So if someone says he postulated a parking space into existence, or made a streetlight turn off, you have to accept it without analytical reasoning of a level that would be required even in high school. By being continually conditioned to accept anything and everything as truth, you eventually accept things like “the Moxons stopped an invader fleet out around Venus by going exterior one afternoon and scaring the little bugger aliens.”
— No talk about case: You cannot talk about “case” — that’s forbidden. So you can’t discuss details of what you learned, what you think you can do, what happened in an auditing session, etc. — with one exception: you can (and must!) write out success stories continually. That makes you complicit in the self-deception and keeps others locked in and eager to progress.
— No discussing the “tech”:You cannot discuss the tech. Doing so is verbal tech. Verbal tech is forbidden.
— Never doubt Source: You cannot question Source (Hubbard). Source is always right. If Source says something is true, it is, despite clear evidence to the contrary.
— No broad research: You cannot even consider other explanations, theories, or approaches. That would be engaging in other practices and would expose you to entheta about Scientology. It would also be implicitly questioning the absolute authority of Source, which could land you in a Comm Ev (when they did those), or a Sec Check, or getting “declared.” Thus even the thought of questioning Source puts you in fear because you know the consequences of not stopping any questioning thoughts would be severe.
— Doubt yourself, not Source: You learn to suppress your reservations or questions and reinterpret them as probably coming from your own M/Us, case, overts or withholds, third party of wogs, being PTS, or your own or someone’s hidden evil intentions. Source is never wrong. You and others are.
— The shield of gradient: Scientology cannot demonstrate Clear and OT VIII because it would be too “out gradient” for someone. Geeze (pun intended), Jesus evidently did some miracles a couple thousand years ago, and that contributed to a religion based on his teaching going strong to this day. Even something as simple as asking a Clear to “show me your perfect recall” gets you nowhere — yet performers in say Las Vegas can give better evidence of incredible recall than a typical Clear.
— The shield of invalidation: You cannot ask a Clear or OT VIII to show you their abilities. By asking them to validate what they can do, that somehow gets twisted into invalidating their states.
— The shield of restimulation: Somehow, seeing an actual OT VIII would not motivate anyone to zoom up the bridge; rather it might key them in. Really? How? They’ve already envisioned the states of Clear and OT VIII — that’s why they got in in the first place.
Once I really began to see all the ways that Scientology stopped me from thinking and using my own intelligence, I also realized that Scientology is doing that thought-stopping for one major reason: it cannot deliver the states of Clear or OT VIII. Therefore to survive, it must continually introvert everyone to thinking that their doubts are their own failings — and eject them from the Church via “declares” if they persist in questioning.
Those states may well exist — part of me would like to think they do. I would love to see them. I know that I and many others did believe in them and in the chance to achieve them for the good of self and everyone. Those were good and noble aims.

FOTF2012, I found your comment very interesting over-all. With regard to total recall as an ability of Clears, there are apparently people (not Scientologists) who have remarkable powers of recall. For example, if you give them a date in their lives they can tell you what day of the week it was, e.g., “August 23, 1980″…”Oh, that was a Saturday”. They also claim to remember exact times as well as dates and days of the week. for events of which they were aware. There is a name for this type of memory which escapes me at present, but apparently this ability to recall precisely in sequence exists without Scientology. The actress Marilu Henner is a celebrity example of someone who lays claim to this ability. She has included it in a number of her books and has talked about it in interviews on TV. By the way, she says she dated John Travolta in the late 70s but makes no mention of any Scientology processing she may have received, and also she claims to have had this type of photographic memory from earliest childhood. I’m not trying to be right about anything, btw. This is just data.
