How do we get Israel out of suppression and reactive mind slavery?
This is the doctor who lost his medical license as a result of his failure/incompetence in treating Lisa McPherson. Now he is going to save Israel.
This is of course not the first time Scientology has claimed they would bring peace to the Middle East and solve all of Israel’s problems. Typically they have done fundraising to distribute WTH to “bring peace” and touted the great “successes” they have had in doing so. They were wrong then, just as they are wrong now.
This is an earlier post from my blog about this very thing: IAS Way to Happiness Claims — Fact Check
- In the Middle East, a million copies of The Way to Happiness, funded by IAS grants, were distributed in Arabic and Hebrew through schools and refugee camps, kiosks and on the streets. IAS members and other volunteers delivered copies of The Way to Happiness door to door and thousands of copies were inserted in Israeli newspapers. A program of workshops for schools was launched to help both Palestinian and Israeli students and teachers use The Way to Happiness in their daily lives.
According to Wikipedia the Israel TWTH campaigns in 2008 caused quite a stir. Reference is made to The Association for Prosperity and Peace in the Middle East. We were not able to find much on this group except this website that is owned by them. Danny Vidislavski, the founder of The Association for Prosperity is also apparently the ED of TWTH Israel. The denial made to the Jerusalem Post that their organization had no relation to Scientology is given lie by this post, also dated 2008, on the Scientology Volunteer Ministers website. As for actual numbers of distribution being verifiable…?
But wait a minute. According to the scientology definition, Israel is an “ideal nation.” Their org in Tel Aviv — the only one in Israel (or anywhere in the Middle East for that matter — in fact the only org in the northern hemisphere east of the Bosphorus until you get to Tokyo) is “ideal” so this makes it an ideal country.
So, why is a disgraced doctor doing an event in someone’s house in Clearwater the answer? Why isn’t this already being handled by the “ideal org” right there in Israel?

Superficially Off Topic But Essentially Not:
I’d like to share something I just read on Quora in response to a question about cults and their leaders.
“Compulsive liars should not be feared. They can be ignored and thus do no harm. Compulsive believers should terrify you.”
That pretty much says it, right?
LoosingMyReligion says
Acqua, sure. Any form of extremism driven by certainty in what you believe to be right has always and only caused disasters. We have seen it.

A couple of weeks ago I came across this site where Minkoff is one of the “experts”.
https://thyroidadrenal.com/
I wrote to them and asked them to inform themselves about Minkoff and got some answer that they will pass it on. (I think they are situated in Florida, Maybe they are Scientologists?
Some of the things I wrote:
He and a lot of others has reached the highest spiritual level 8 in the church.
Ask him how come so many has died of cancer despite being on the highest level? (Cancer is to be handled at level 5 according their own writings)
That includes some famous people that died of cancer despite being on the highest level; Kelly Preston the wife of John Travolta , Kristie Alley and Chick Corea, I may have forgotten some…
Ask him about the founder L Ron Hubbard and his writings about smoking and cancer.
Ask him about his own involvement re the Death of Lisa McPherson and Whitney Mills and I´m sure there are more people as well with tragic deaths. It´s very disturbing. Some links below
Ask him of why hasn´t Danny Masterson been kicked out from church despite being convicted to 30 years in prison due to rape etc. (Hint: they are protected by the church)
Or ask him how come Tom Cruise is not seeing his daughter Suri. “”

I handed out WTH booklets to my closest acquaintances and family back in the day.
Since these were people I knew I expect they at least leafed through it.
If my Uncle Jim read the section about not drinking too much and cut back on his beer a little bit then this action might have done a tiny amount of good.
The Socialist Dictatorship in Venezuela would remain unscathed.
I believe that the booklet itself is benign although not very exciting.
The campaign to hand out large numbers of these and get the public to pay is, of course, a scam and useless, and is just another way of parting the naive from their money.
Alcoboy says
Like many people I have read WTH and as far as personal advice goes it is a fair book of maxims that if followed can help an individual do better in life. The problem is when these same people can be convinced that flooding a city or a state or a war torn nation with booklet versions of this book will somehow magically erase whatever malady that given area is suffering from. Just run through the streets giving out thousands of copies of The Way To Happiness and SHAZAM! Wars will cease! Sickness will be a thing of the past! There will no longer be poverty! Just read The Way To Happiness and paradise is yours! No one ever stops to think that if a little booklet could do all that, what need would there be for Scientology? You would have to close down all those Ideal Orgs!
Aquamarine says
Terrific comment, Alco. I completely agree with all of your points. WTH IS in my opinion a common sense moral and ethical code and following its maxims would improve a lot of lives.
The flaw in the cult’s reasoning with regard to the efficacy of WTH is that people enduring cataclysmic events are in no shape to READ.
Whether its a natural disaster like a hurricaine or flood or a tornado, or a mass shooting or bombing, etc., they’re enduring, they’re not going to be helped by being given a booklet.
Most likely they’re in shock, or physically destitute, hungry, ill and possibly they’ve lost loved ones and are reeling emotionally as well as mentally and physically.
In brief, they’re not what Scientology calls “studentable” y’know?
Alcoboy says
Right. Basically it makes the cult look like they’re doing something when they’re really not.

Exactly.

The “only true viewpoint” is LRH’s.
The guy who claimed “Yahweh” was just some random fella who “lived in a trunk with a leopard skin” [1] and deified by a loony cult of hellebore addicts. [2]
No mention of Israel’s suppression of Gaza.
Will they discuss how religious elitism and genocide is a symptom of whole track PTSD, rooted in extraterrestrial brainwashing and Xenu’s galactic holocaust?
Or the IDF’s reported use of drones that play audio of crying children (to lure unsuspecting Gazans out of their houses and into the line of fire) is straight out of the sticky bubble conquests of ancient Helatrobus?
Or that Netanyahu’s wife is an evil psych, manipulating events from the shadows?
I do hope so. That’s far more exciting than a self help stocking filler that advocates for minty fresh breath.

I wonder if IDs will be required at the door? And it seems like a pretty small venue for “the legendary Judy Bachar!”

Oh wait … she’s actually IN CLEARWATER. WOW!

And the scientology connection (because, you know, L. Ron Hubbard was also an expert on “Art”):

Amazon.com provides the humorous anecdote:
“Art – In this book L. Ron Hubbard answers the question that has puzzled people for centuries- “What is art?” He not only provides the first clear definition of art, but also discusses the components necessary to create a truly artistic communication. This is knowledge that any artist, any viewer of art or anyone who intends to communicate successfully will recognize as infinitely valuable.”
This from one of the “Verified Purchase” reviewers: “It look good.” OMG!!
She even showed up on TripAdvisor for goodness sake. Mark D., a reviewer, was not pleased (April 2022):

“My visit to the Church of Scientology was much like going on a “free vacation” where you learn you have to hear a sales pitch about buying a time share. They were relentless on getting me to sign up for courses and buy other worthless products. If you are the type to buy something from a telemarketer rather than having to endure another minute of BS, this place IS NOT FOR YOU! Horrible place, dishonest people. This business has no business being allowed on Tripadvisor. Need I say more?”

““Supporting today’s youth results in a more civilized tomorrow,” said Michael Soltero, Manager of the CCV Center. “By helping foster children get school supplies, we can help to ensure they are fully equipped to tackle to coming school year and get the education that will set them on the road to their future. What humanitarian L. Ron Hubbard wrote demonstrates this ‘Today’s children will become tomorrow’s civilization. …remember that the child cannot survive well in the long run if he or she does not have his or her feet put on the way to survival.’”
Scilons really know how to spread it on thick, don’t they? Oh well, I’m done.
