These guys are thinking big… At least 10X expansion across their zone (whatever that may be).
Not content with merely Clearing Ireland, they are taking on the whole Continent. Why someone from Sweden would be in Dublin is anyone’s guess — there IS an ideal org in Malmo. And in Copenhagen. Amsterdam. Brussels. A couple in England. And a few in Germany, Switzerland and Italy that are all closer.
Unless they just can’t find anyone in Ireland who wants to go Clear so that have to reach outside their island and try to persuade a bunch of foreigners to make the trip?
But what is most impressive about their expansive reach is the number of clears they have made. They are clearly proud of this accomplishment. 23 in 7 months. Not even 1 per week…
This is the reality of an org in Ireland built for some other reason than fulfilling a demand for scientology in the area. Only Miscavige knows why they bothered. Perhaps it was something to do with Tom Cruise filming there. Maybe because he wanted to waste some money on the place where Hubbard stayed in Dublin — they got Phoenix, Bay Head, Joburg, DC, Fitzroy St and St Hill — but wanted to have something more than an interminably failing mission in the country? Maybe it’s because they bank there? Who knows. But it certainly was not because of the demand for going Clear in the population of Ireland.
PS: To be fair, they DID reach 10X expansion when they declared their first Clear…

At the time Mayo wrote the article he was still giving credence the the reactive mind/engram theory. He concludes,
“Regardless of what the state is named, the recognition that a person can continue to become clear-er, restores hope and makes progress possible again.”
………………………………………
Lots of people have spent lots of money to get clear-er.
Richard says
My above comment belongs below. Anyhow, my understanding is that Mayo helped develop the OT levels but Hubbard kicked him out and Mayo started his own squirrel group in Santa Barbara around 1982 but Hubbard quickly ran him out of business. Scientology trivia.
jere lull ( 39 years recovering) says
That’s not trivia when the topic is scn and ‘clearing’. Just wish I had seen the first part of Mayo’s thoughts on the subject.
Got a link for it?
Richard says
Hi Jere – I only have the link I posted below. I mentioned trivia since it probably wouldn’t be of interest to a casual follower of scientology, but it might be useful to someone newly exiting scientology and sorting out their experience.
Maybe similar to yourself, I attested to “Dianetic Clear” around 1980 and probably had a “floating tone arm” for awhile. I think my number was in the 8000s.
For never ins, a floating tone arm is a description of when the needle on the e meter is so loose because the person is feeling so great that you can’t even audit them. It’s fun while it lasts.
Richard says
I like to simplify “Clear”. After a number of hours of introspection on one’s past, someone could realise that nothing in the past can affect them negatively in the present. This could happen in other practices or therapies and many people just live their life that way. The man on the street would say, You can’t change the past so just live for.today.” Someone in scientology or another practice or therapy might gain a, let’s say, “firmer” subjective reality on that truism.

Nah – The Clears only get rid of the negative emotions and reactions. Ask them.

Why are the two staff in Ireland named Aljosa and Humberto? Those are not Irish names last time I checked.

It’s the same with staff at most orgs. You might to see any sort of people on staff and hear any sort of accent imaginable, except the local ones.
Aquamarine says
A few years ago Mike had an article about an Org in New York City promoting across the United States for Scientologists to relocate and join staff. Harlem Org I think it was. I guess the total of 9 million people living in Greater New York isn’t a large enough staff pool!

He recently attested to the state of clear?
I thought that I understood the meaning of the word “attested”. But perhaps I am mistaken?
According to the Dictionary Site: The word “Attested” means: verb (used with object)
to bear witness to; certify; declare to be correct, true, or genuine; declare the truth of, in words or writing, especially affirm in an official capacity: to attest the truth of a statement.
to give proof or evidence of; manifest: His works attest his industry.
to put on oath.
Did they use the word “attested” correctly? I could be wrong about this and I really do not want to lampoon the author unless I’m certain they used it incorrectly.
I often seem to spot glaring English grammar and syntax errors in these ads. If I’m not mistaken, it’s a red flag that sending kids to a Scamology school teaches them to butcher the English language so their usage is full of spelling, syntax and grammatical errors. How good can their tech be if they can’t even write English without glaring errors?
But before I criticize them, I really would like to know if I am mistaken or not. Can anyone confirm whether they used the word “attested” correctly or not? Is there any way that word makes sense in the way it was used in the above sentence? Or am I mistaken in thinking it was used incorrectly?

Cat W. says
I don’t know the details, but my understanding is that this is one of Scientology’s many idiosyncratic usages. “Attesting to the state of Clear” is how they say that this person meets their requirements for being Clear. I think the person actually attesting to it is one of the requirements, but it’s not sufficient in itself. You not only can’t just claim to be Clear, but they can take it away from you years afterward.
Skyler says
Thanks very much to all the folks who replied to my question. I was becoming worried for a while.
Aquamarine says
Skyler, many staff are foreign now, and ESL, which would, I believe, account for the frequent grammatical errors
jere lull ( 39 years recovering) says
Skyler, you’re not wrong. scn don’t see any value in a normal, ordinary [“wog”] education. Even when they “homeschool”, it’s a curriculum that doesn’t match the requirements of the real world,
and they’re as likely as not to get a piece of paper from a “diploma mill” which considers paying a few bucks the equivalent of an actual education.
In the meantime, I’ve worked with a few people who were ESL (English as a second language). SOME were more expert in our language than some of my co-workers who had English as their only language. Two Scandinavians I knew, in particular, could speak English with almost no noticeable accent, or at least less accent than my friends from South Philly or Jersey. Not that I can really detect accents; mine shifts all over the map, depending on who I’ve been talking to lately.

MarcAnon says
They may only have made 23 clears in 7 months, but if you think of the fact that every clear has been bilked for $150,000 or more in the process, that’s still $3.5 million.
It’s a good illustration of one thing – Orgs that to all appearances are sad, dead little orgs may still be raking in a surprising amount of revenue from PCs on service, to say nothing of anyone else they are regging.
It’s a lucrative little business franchise, when you consider they are selling nothing but pieces of the sky, as it were.
Ms. B. Haven says
Not even blue sky for the most part. In Ireland you’re damn lucky to see blue sky. Where I come from, they call those rare patches of blue “sucker holes”, because when you see them you are sometimes suckered into thinking that more blue sky and sunshine will soon appear. In scientology you are sold blue sky, rainbows and a unicorn to boot, but all you end up with is empty promises and an even emptier bank account.
jere lull ( 39 years recovering) says
Ms. B. Haven:
BINGO! Blue “sucker holes”, though I suspect there ARE a few days with fair skies even in Ireland and London.

http://www.forum.exscn.net/threads/clear-some-background.50323/
Richard says
If you are going to sell something called “Clear” I guess you need to define it. The sales pitch in scientology has always been that it’s Western science applied to Eastern philosophy with a fast track to Nirvana, or in the case of scientology being “At Cause” over anything and everything.
Kristin G says

There may be some weasel-wording in that claim about “Clear #23 of 2019.” He may be “of” 2019, but the count of 23 may well actually stretch back to when the “ideal” org opened a couple of years ago. I think I’ve seen other signs of that particular angle of misleading misdirection, total cumulative statistics over years worded so they could be assumed to be more impressive-seeming annual counts. Either way it’s not really very impressive in the big picture.
Plus I wonder how many of the clears they’re counting are just staff sent there from elsewhere, who having nothing else to do, are getting time with auditors due to lack of paying customers. The guy pictured may be in street clothes, but he could be staff.
I can sort of understand how members buy claims by orgs of “10X” internal stats, because those are not very transparent and easily fudged. But the claim of “At least 10X expansion across their zone” flies in the face of the reality of Scientology’s failure and shrinkage in the world at large – exemplified by the fact that “10X” is supposed to include 10 missions in the org’s “zone,” while instead missions, like the former one in Dublin itself, are closing and decreasing in number. I supposed perhaps the count of something like kids in bouncy castles is up 10X since the org started trying to host community events, though if I recall their last BBQ was reported to be a complete bust….
Richard says
PeaceMaker – I think you’re right about “Clear #23 OF 2019”. What percentage of scientologists in an org would be attesting to “Clear” in any week? 1 out of 20? 40? 60?
Even if they started out with 200 customers in 2019, 23 “Clears” in six months sounds exaggerated.
“of” – those little words are tricky!
PeaceMaker says
There are only 87 scientologists in Ireland according to its census, so the 23 couldn’t plausibly include many locals unless quite a few of them went clear over the 2 years since the “ideal” org opened, augmented by a fair number of foreigners. I also doubt that Dublin is getting away with poaching dozens of PCs a year from other European orgs – unless the ones in several countries like Sweden have shrunk to the point where they are no longer able to produce clears on their own, and have no choice to but send people elsewhere.
Tony Ortega’s blog today has an example of a PR piece claiming a statistic over two years. They’re obviously doing that to make flagging numbers seem more impressive – and probably in some cases hiding the fact that the stats are actually multi-year totals, yet another twist of weasel-wording and deception that we have to watch out for in their propaganda.
We need some recent defectors with good inside information, to tell us what is really going on with things like this.

No $cientology flyer or press release should be taken at face value. Given the state of $cieno recruiting in the World, every mOrg must be poaching customers from where ever they can find them. I would suspect the Continental Liaison Office approves all out of sales territory moves.
