Before your show, I thought Scientology was joke. New age, science fiction crap celebrities wasted their money on. I watched Aftermath from the first episode.
Scientology is no joke. People being abused by their “church”, their ecclesiastical “leaders”? Decent people tricked into a system designed to fleece them? Tearing apart families, destroying “enemies “? What a nightmare. But what incredible stories of survival.
More importantly, I have learned that many who join Scientology are nice, thoughtful, bright people. They’re not dumb – they want to help people. But this is a brilliant CULT and a SCAM!
It must be stopped. I went to 12 years of Catholic School and they never put me “in The Hole” or made my Gramma disconnect!
Yes, it probably is……but I reckon most out here also see two hero’s – your modesty and becomes you! Huge congratulations to you both and to all those other brave contributors! This sends out such a significant message.
Two things that you have in spades and which have become alien to that organization (and which I believe most people are able to inherently recognize) is an honesty and a determination for the truth.
Unfortunately I’ve only been able to catch the YouTube clips here – any news or plans to ‘roll it out’ (see what I did there?) in the UK anytime soon? Like Sky Atlantic did with ‘Going Clear…’ which, by the way, is still being repeatedly aired more than 2 years after its premiere.
So much good! But the MOST fun of the win is thinking about little DM Pope on a Rope, screaming his brains out, demanding who is in charge of the Emmy votes in the church and shouting “WHY DIDN’T YOU GET ENOUGH OF US IN THERE TO VOTE AGAINST THEM??? A F’ING EMMYYYYY????? YOU’RE ALL IN THE HOLE!!!!”

Congratulations to Leah and Mike! I sit and watch these horrible stories of mental and physical abuse at the hands of a so called “church” and I just don’t understand how they are still operating. David Miscavige and his little minions should be investigated and and then pay for their actions. Mark Rathbun should be persecuted for his 180 turn, like Tom DeVought said, he knows where the bodies are buried. Congratulations on your Emmy Win Mike, Leah and A & E!! This is quite a big deal. To be honest being an ex UTR, I would have been watching the show because of the subject matter regardless of whether it was well done or not. HOWEVER, I have watched every episode and the production is also soooo well done. Emmy is truly well deserved. Thanks to the courage of Mike and Leah and the guests on the show, the awful actions of the Church are becoming known by the Public. I was speaking to another Ex UTR the other day and between us we have several absolutely horrible Church Stories. And I believe that pretty much every Scientologist has these horror stories. But as Scientologists we are behind the iron curtain – no freedom of speech. Can’t read or listen to anything negative about the church. Always the threat of DECLARE hanging over your head so you can’t just walk out. Must do things according to their rules or else. I am hoping that your show will end the Church’s evil practice of Forced Disconnection ( and it is forced). Again, Congratulations!!!! Will be watching tomorrow.

This is wonderful. Congratulations to you, Leah, and all of the guests and crew who worked on this show. You and Leah do a wonderful job providing a very large platform for your guests to really get the message out to the world regarding what this cult is really all about. I hope it sends a very strong message to Miscavige that people are no longer as intimidated by their tactics as they perhaps once were. That should probably frighten him more than anything else.
Also, on a side note, if I’m not mistaken, you and your family live somewhat close to Clearwater. I hope your family and friends didn’t sustain much damage from Irma.

I’m still towing the line, I’m out but my family is very much in. It’s hard to watch them flushing their retirement down the drain, but I am finally able to free myself.
I was best friends with Liz when I was a kid. My heart broke for her, not only because I understand, but I lived through almost the same pain, and had no one. Just the cold, robotic ‘they pulled it in’ mentality.
I have no children yet, but I have often told my ‘WOG’ husband that I would never feel comfortable leaving our children with my parents. I will do everything in my power to keep them away from this cult.
It has done nothing but ruin my childhood (I was beaten regularly, although my dad was Clear??), had no one to turn to (call the cops on a Scieno??), and all my Scieno friends turned away when I lost my brother (it’s his fault, right??).
The rage and hatred and loss I still feel is palpable. And it’s thrown in my face daily. I’m a second generation that got out, but did I really get away??
This show came out at the right time for me. I had been out physically for many years, it’s the mental part that I’m finally addressing. It’s bringing up a lot of emotions, those things you aren’t supposed to have in Scientology.

Can I make a suggestion for the show – at the end of every episode make a point of flagging up $cientology’s attack videos against Leah and Mike and then direct the viewers to where to watch them. Don’t comment on the videos, just let viewers see for themselves the kind of wonderful religion $cientology is!

I am of the opinion that “Hollywood” has just issued a great big “screw YOU” to David Miscavige and possibly even Mr. Tom “we’re the only ones who can help” Cruise.
The Miscavige/ Co$ smear videos recently running on You Tube will greatly assist the rightness of “Hollywood” in their assessment that the Co$ is as undesirable as they thought.
Not to take anything away from the magnificent production value of Aftermath. Just noting that if Hollywood don’t like you, they’re not likely to give you the win no matter how much you might deserve it.
Now $camology will be even more desperate and stupid in their smear campaigns and tactics. Miscavige will be incandescent with rage which will descend into ennui as he keeps failing more and more. The best I can term it is (as we say in my family): Altogether now…1…2…3…Aaaawwww…

Congratulations on a meaningful victory- I have never in my life commented on the internet, but I wanted to let you know FYI (in case you don’t already) – that as of today there are major smear commercials on Youtube. I watch a lot of Youtube videos and all of a sudden (after last night) – they are airing ridiculous smear ads on Leah every few minutes or so- can hardly get through my video- which has nothing whatsoever to do with Scientology. Not a big surprise, but as I said, I wanted you to know

In this time of personal enturbulation and stress I thought it might be useful to highlight for you the characteristics of the anti-social personality as per HCOB 27 September 1966. The 12 Attributes are lined up against Leah Remini –vs- COB :
1) Speaks only in generalities: Leah…. Nope: COB… his lawyer only writes/speaks in generalities.
2) Deals in bad news, hostile remarks, and suppression: Leah only when targeting abusive activities…COB..nothing but–see Freedom mag and your web sites.
3) Embellished bad news: Leah…nope- just facts from 1st person experiences: COB…Yep, see your smear web sites.
4) No response to therapy: Leah appears happy with herself: COB… we don’t know because he don’t show his face.
5) Surrounded by cowed associates being driven insane: Leah…observably can’t see her associates in that state: COB..yep, if escapees/suicides are an indication.
6) Selects wrong targets: Leah.. nope she stays on target and just won an Emmy from the TV world: COB…yep empty buildings and empty course rooms confirm he is off the mark.

Mike and Leah are my heroes. They worked so hard to get it right and to tell stories of abuse that the public at large could understand and care about. No small feat but they successfully accomplished that.

Now it is time to demand that Miscavige step down, resign his position in the church and turn it over to those who will lead it in the right direction. Miscavige has a choice of continuing on and ending up in jail for his crimes or skip the country now and take a couple of million with him (which I’m sure he’s already organized in preparation for a “Plan B”).
We all know there could be some good things done with the structure of Scientology and the good people in Scientology after a thorough clean up, clean out and name change of course. With a new and vibrant name the organization can give purpose to many with the right leadership and move in the direction of anti-drugs, positive thinking, good education, a good communications course…… In the wrong hands Scientology is deadly & evil…… but in the right hands it can be cleaned out of all the bad and turned into the good that we all thought it was supposed to be. It should NOT be a DICTATORSHIP for the good of ONE, it should be a DEMOCRACY for the good of the MANY.
LEAH & MIKE can lead this change, take over the church, structure a proper organization of good people and lead it in the right direction.
LEAH & MIKE, you have proven what you can do. We need good, strong leaders who can direct the
church down the right path and make it into good for mankind, a real church with a real and good purpose.
A lot of good can be done in this world where people turn to drugs as an answer. Why waste the structure that is already there and the willing people that thought they were helping a great cause, this church can be completely reorganized, stripped of all the nonsense & insanity and taken in the right direction and can do a lot of good to help make a better world……
But those same “right hands” couldn’t stop/ ignored / participated in the hubbard era abuses. Those hands couldn’t amass the will or power to stop a 25 yr old high school drop out from taking over, futhering, increasing and creating more of those abuses.
Who’s hands are clean and right? If there exist any, they’ve long since been out of the main church. What would be worth getting that dirt all over you?

Gosh I hope this is not the next step in the saga. Too much kool-aid. Purchased and read Janis Gillham Gradys book. Waste of money. Lots of defining things like who Hugh Hefner is and what was the diet soda named Tab. Really? Defining statistics? We business people, sports fans, even medical professionals know what stats are. Only someone living out of touch with the real world would need these defined. Amazingly, conspicuously absent are definitions of the SCN garbage.
Lots of praise for the SCN she grew up on. Written like a child. No editor? Sheesh. Don’t waste your money on this book. If you are a realist ready to see SCN completely dissolve – there is plenty of support for that.
You must have not had your morning coffee before you posted Ms. Son! Janis’ book was full of interesting stories and insights on the ships and Ron’s abberrated behavior. This was not supposed to be a Stephen King or Maeve Binchy novel. It excelled in its intent which was interesting insights.
I disagree. Nothing less than a full scale gutting and removal of debris that is the C of S. Let the Hazardous materials team disinfect the entire area and sell off the assets to repay the victims. It would be—- IT WILL BE— healing for Scientology victims to be able see the open casket and read the obituary. Let the Indies figure out what to keep and what to use. Let the tech survive or wither in the free market place.
As the show has explained, it’s not the people but mandatory attack policies and revenge dictates written by LRH which is at play. People could change, but not these horrible policies. Scientology is misguided.

It is time to lead and only you can do it. Call a Press Conference for 10AM tomorrow morning. Advise media outlets no questions will be entertained, you are going to make a major announcement. Then SAY this:
“As the COB and the religious leader of The Church of Scientology, I make the following announcements.
A. Effective immediately, any parishioner, member, or staff of the CoS and any of its affiliates, may resign at will.
B. The CoS hereby promises and attests that no action whatsoever will be taken against any member who leaves the church or its organizations.
C. No action will be taken against the family members, in or out of the church, of such person who leaves scientology.
D. Neither the CoS or any of its affiliates will contact, harass or otherwise intimidate the friends, acquaintances or employers of any Scientologist wishing to leave the church or who leaves the church.
E. No charge or bill of any kind will be presented to anyone leaving Scientology.
F. Any member of Scientology having paid for, but not received, hours of auditing, counseling, or other services, will be refunded the balance remaining on their account, at the same rate in which it was paid.
G. The Church of Scientology welcome all who wish to broaden their knowledge of our beliefs, regardless of race, creed, gender or sexual orientation.
H. All reports of abuse, violence, sexual harassment or human rights violations will be immediately reported to the proper law enforcement officials.
And finally, the Church of Scientology does not encourage, condone or otherwise support the practice commonly referred to as “Disconnection”. I’m sure the lawyer types among us can poke a lot of holes in this scenario…but you get the general idea. Miscavige has the power to end the abusive practices of the CoS….he only needs the will to do so.

Thank You both for all you have done to expose this evil cult that is ruining lives, every day with Hubbard’s mind bending “technology.” I left in 2010 and spoke out by telling my longish story in your blog in 2014. https://www.mikerindersblog.org/bob-sharon-graham/ I did this with the hope that I could do my small part in exposing this dangerous cult for what it actually is. Now, You and Leah have taken this platform to a level I could only dream of, back then. It is so important for you guys to keep educating the public about what this thing called scientology actually is. Since your show has been on A&E, I am amazed at how many, in my own circle of family and friends are watching the show and asking questions about it. When they ask me if the show is true or made up, my answer is, “YES, it is absolutely true. However bad you think Scientology is – It is actually much, much worse!”
Here is another example of how rotten to the core, Scientology actually is. Recently, my granddaughter boldly stepped up and made contact with me. She expressed her feelings that she did not agree with the disconnection policies and that she wanted to have a relationship with me. Although, she does not practice scientology, she was raised in it and understands that her parents will disconnect from her if she has contact with me. Anyway, we met and made future plans to do some things together but – then- she made a huge mistake. She shared her plans with a pseudo scientologist friend about her plans to reconcile with us. That person, for whatever reason, then promptly reported her to the local Org in Santa Barbara and she was ordered to come in immediately for an interview with the ethics officer. After the interview, she was “brought to the understanding” that she was PTS and told she had to choose between her grandparents and her immediate family because I had publicly spoken out about Scientology on Mike Rinder’s blog plus I had comingled with other SPs.
Such a disappointment but I have high hopes for a future relationship because there is a crack in the dam, so to speak.
Congratulations to Leah, Mike, and all the very very brave ex scientologists who stood up to this evil cult and its “Dick-tator Davey;”all the while knowing the barrage of hate videos that would follow. Now, with all your voices and the bravery of A&E to put this on the airwaves you have won and received the best trophy ever. – An EMMY Unlike the whales who do nothing but PAY $$$ for their gaudy trophies; you all earned it with your hard work and unwavering bravery in the face of one of the nastiest, meanest, vilest groups on the planet. Anyone who is OT8, OT7, or currently on OT 7 has to come in within a month for a mandatory, searching PTS interview, including specific questions about whether the Pre-OT has watched the show AFTERMATH or any peripheral contact with the show, such as having to field questions from coworkers, etc.
The reason given is that the OTs in the Flag field have failed to turn away hurricane Irma, headed for Clearwater now. The only reason, for pulling in a hurricane the size and power of Irma directly onto Flag is because the OTs are PTS, out-ethics, disaffected, mutual out-Ruds, or somehow majorly at effect of the show, and because of the high level of their cases, when they go PTS, the effects of their being Effect have far-reaching consequences.
Further, because of the out-ethics of those who have watched the show, all Flag public will be surcharged at 20% of their suggested donations for services, to pay for damages caused by the storm, and this surcharge will remain in effect until all the storm damage has been paid for.

And the subject matter and handling of your witnesses just a sensitive, important, careful to avoid exploitation, and respectful of their dignity and their testimony about what they’ve been through.
Clearly you have assembled an excellent team, of which each and e erm member ca be proud.

Before your show, I thought Scientology was joke. New age, science fiction crap celebrities wasted their money on. I watched Aftermath from the first episode.
Scientology is no joke. People being abused by their “church”, their ecclesiastical “leaders”? Decent people tricked into a system designed to fleece them? Tearing apart families, destroying “enemies “? What a nightmare. But what incredible stories of survival.

To be honest being an ex UTR, I would have been watching the show because of the subject matter regardless of whether it was well done or not. HOWEVER, I have watched every episode and the production is also soooo well done. Emmy is truly well deserved. Thanks to the courage of Mike and Leah and the guests on the show, the awful actions of the Church are becoming known by the Public. I was speaking to another Ex UTR the other day and between us we have several absolutely horrible Church Stories. And I believe that pretty much every Scientologist has these horror stories. But as Scientologists we are behind the iron curtain – no freedom of speech. Can’t read or listen to anything negative about the church. Always the threat of DECLARE hanging over your head so you can’t just walk out. Must do things according to their rules or else. I am hoping that your show will end the Church’s evil practice of Forced Disconnection ( and it is forced). Again, Congratulations!!!! Will be watching tomorrow.

You and Leah do a wonderful job providing a very large platform for your guests to really get the message out to the world regarding what this cult is really all about. I hope it sends a very strong message to Miscavige that people are no longer as intimidated by their tactics as they perhaps once were. That should probably frighten him more than anything else.

I’m still towing the line, I’m out but my family is very much in. It’s hard to watch them flushing their retirement down the drain, but I am finally able to free myself.
I was best friends with Liz when I was a kid. My heart broke for her, not only because I understand, but I lived through almost the same pain, and had no one. Just the cold, robotic ‘they pulled it in’ mentality.
I have no children yet, but I have often told my ‘WOG’ husband that I would never feel comfortable leaving our children with my parents. I will do everything in my power to keep them away from this cult.
It has done nothing but ruin my childhood (I was beaten regularly, although my dad was Clear??), had no one to turn to (call the cops on a Scieno??), and all my Scieno friends turned away when I lost my brother (it’s his fault, right??).
The rage and hatred and loss I still feel is palpable. And it’s thrown in my face daily. I’m a second generation that got out, but did I really get away??
This show came out at the right time for me. I had been out physically for many years, it’s the mental part that I’m finally addressing. It’s bringing up a lot of emotions, those things you aren’t supposed to have in Scientology.

2) Deals in bad news, hostile remarks, and suppression: Leah only when targeting abusive activities…COB..nothing but–see Freedom mag and your web sites.
3) Embellished bad news: Leah…nope- just facts from 1st person experiences: COB…Yep, see your smear web sites.
4) No response to therapy: Leah appears happy with herself: COB… we don’t know because he don’t show his face.
5) Surrounded by cowed associates being driven insane: Leah…observably can’t see her associates in that state: COB..yep, if escapees/suicides are an indication.
6) Selects wrong targets: Leah.. nope she stays on target and just won an Emmy from the TV world: COB…yep empty buildings and empty course rooms confirm he is off the mark.

With a new and vibrant name the organization can give purpose to many with the right leadership and move in the direction of anti-drugs, positive thinking, good education, a good communications course…… In the wrong hands Scientology is deadly & evil…… but in the right hands it can be cleaned out of all the bad and turned into the good that we all thought it was supposed to be. It should NOT be a DICTATORSHIP for the good of ONE, it should be a DEMOCRACY for the good of the MANY.
LEAH & MIKE can lead this change, take over the church, structure a proper organization of good people and lead it in the right direction.
LEAH & MIKE, you have proven what you can do. We need good, strong leaders who can direct the
church down the right path and make it into good for mankind, a real church with a real and good purpose.
A lot of good can be done in this world where people turn to drugs as an answer. Why waste the structure that is already there and the willing people that thought they were helping a great cause, this church can be completely reorganized, stripped of all the nonsense & insanity and taken in the right direction and can do a lot of good to help make a better world……

Gosh I hope this is not the next step in the saga. Too much kool-aid. Purchased and read Janis Gillham Gradys book. Waste of money. Lots of defining things like who Hugh Hefner is and what was the diet soda named Tab. Really? Defining statistics? We business people, sports fans, even medical professionals know what stats are. Only someone living out of touch with the real world would need these defined. Amazingly, conspicuously absent are definitions of the SCN garbage.
Lots of praise for the SCN she grew up on. Written like a child. No editor? Sheesh. Don’t waste your money on this book. If you are a realist ready to see SCN completely dissolve – there is plenty of support for that.
You must have not had your morning coffee before you posted Ms. Son! Janis’ book was full of interesting stories and insights on the ships and Ron’s abberrated behavior. This was not supposed to be a Stephen King or Maeve Binchy novel. It excelled in its intent which was interesting insights.

I disagree. Nothing less than a full scale gutting and removal of debris that is the C of S. Let the Hazardous materials team disinfect the entire area and sell off the assets to repay the victims. It would be—- IT WILL BE— healing for Scientology victims to be able see the open casket and read the obituary. Let the Indies figure out what to keep and what to use. Let the tech survive or wither in the free market place.
As the show has explained, it’s not the people but mandatory attack policies and revenge dictates written by LRH which is at play. People could change, but not these horrible policies. Scientology is misguided.

Thank You both for all you have done to expose this evil cult that is ruining lives, every day with Hubbard’s mind bending “technology.” I left in 2010 and spoke out by telling my longish story in your blog in 2014. https://www.mikerindersblog.org/bob-sharon-graham/ I did this with the hope that I could do my small part in exposing this dangerous cult for what it actually is. Now, You and Leah have taken this platform to a level I could only dream of, back then. It is so important for you guys to keep educating the public about what this thing called scientology actually is. Since your show has been on A&E, I am amazed at how many, in my own circle of family and friends are watching the show and asking questions about it. When they ask me if the show is true or made up, my answer is, “YES, it is absolutely true. However bad you think Scientology is – It is actually much, much worse!”
Here is another example of how rotten to the core, Scientology actually is. Recently, my granddaughter boldly stepped up and made contact with me. She expressed her feelings that she did not agree with the disconnection policies and that she wanted to have a relationship with me. Although, she does not practice scientology, she was raised in it and understands that her parents will disconnect from her if she has contact with me. Anyway, we met and made future plans to do some things together but – then- she made a huge mistake. She shared her plans with a pseudo scientologist friend about her plans to reconcile with us. That person, for whatever reason, then promptly reported her to the local Org in Santa Barbara and she was ordered to come in immediately for an interview with the ethics officer. After the interview, she was “brought to the understanding” that she was PTS and told she had to choose between her grandparents and her immediate family because I had publicly spoken out about Scientology on Mike Rinder’s blog plus I had comingled with other SPs.
Such a disappointment but I have high hopes for a future relationship because there is a crack in the dam, so to speak.
Congratulations to Leah, Mike, and all the very very brave ex scientologists who stood up to this evil cult and its “Dick-tator Davey;”all the while knowing the barrage of hate videos that would follow. Anyone who is OT8, OT7, or currently on OT 7 has to come in within a month for a mandatory, searching PTS interview, including specific questions about whether the Pre-OT has watched the show AFTERMATH or any peripheral contact with the show, such as having to field questions from coworkers, etc.
The reason given is that the OTs in the Flag field have failed to turn away hurricane Irma, headed for Clearwater now. The only reason, for pulling in a hurricane the size and power of Irma directly onto Flag is because the OTs are PTS, out-ethics, disaffected, mutual out-Ruds, or somehow majorly at effect of the show, and because of the high level of their cases, when they go PTS, the effects of their being Effect have far-reaching consequences.

And the subject matter and handling of your witnesses just a sensitive, important, careful to avoid exploitation, and respectful of their dignity and their testimony about what they’ve been through.

This is positively the most brilliant thing that’s happened all year. The win totally legitimizes the everything Mike and Leah have been striving for in the eyes of the general public. All of us here and at the Bunker have always known OUR heroes were “straight up and vertical. Now the rest of the viewing public can rely on the veracity and sincerity of the hosts and guests who have suffered, sweated and indeed sometimes bled for this cult and have now come forward to expose the abuses by those in power. Mike, you are both heroes. It takes courage to first fight your way out of the darkness then go on and fight the darkness itself. The reason you have so many supporters (and we are supporters, not just fans, we are way too invested emotionally!) is because we all want to help clear this planet of the Darkness that is Scientology. Scientology has, for so long, been sheltered by it’s silence. It has hidden in the shadows. It has thrived through deceit. Now Leah stepped out of the fog. She held up her hand and you joined her. Together you’ve both become the safe port in the storm for hurt, confused, victimized people. I said this before but it bears repeating; you and Leah are doing more for this planet now that you are out than Scientology ever has. We are living in a violent, confusing world right now. There is so much anger and hate. Thank you for reminding us that there are still good people in the world who want to fight the evil. That there are people who care. You both are truly heroes.
