I feel bad for Avi & Shiri Lonstein, who didn’t get ANY exclamation points at all for their sizable donation ($19,500). If I were them, I’d be sulking.

Weird. The first email was the tenth and the other two were written on the 11th. So much excitement in 2 days? They sounded so redundant, I could barely differentiate anything. The same list of people, several I know as vapid airheads. My compassion is running out, for the donators, as I feel things are so obvious, so bad, so out tech and off policy, that they’re just a bunch of cowards. Sorry but I feel contributing to damaging cases, families and feeding insanity classifies them as assholes.
I would think that most of the guys and gals on the list of patsies above are somewhat pissed that they are now mentioned and displayed on the net for all to see. Well, bad luck. But what I fail to understand about these patsies is that after the 3rd or 4th attempt in a week or even a month to prise money away from me for nothing in exchange, I would at least begin to think that something is not right here and that I was being swindled. But many of these people have been acquiescing to all this for decades now (and of course nothing has changed and things have gotten worse).
What I mean is – if we take as a comparison the shell game racket on the streets where the guy shuffles 3 little cups and you have to guess which cup has the ball under it etc.- now I would think nearly everyone knows it is a scam and presumably some people still fall for this otherwise it would not still be being practiced on the streets. So naive persons could fall for this; it can happen – usually once only before the guy sees he has been conned. But the donations scam is like the same guy coming back day after day and playing and losing at the shell game – for decades! Patsies and schmucks!
To be fair there is of course a certain amount of coercion involved in the scene as well – it is not just all stupidity e.g. Patron Status to get onto New OTVII etc.

Most of those folks giving $ really care about helping. I recognized some good old friends there. They’re good people. They want so bad for good things to come about. But what they evidently don’t realize is that in cooperating with these endeavors #1, it goes against LRH policy. And without realizing it, or just plain ignorance of it, or believing “management” has the lowdown, that there is a hidden data line. For gods sake LRH himself says in policy not to engage in fund raising. #2, it creates enemies out of friends. In normal “wog” life, if you have a different opinion with a friend, you can sit down and chat; have a good discussion. With Scientology, not only can you not sit down and discuss anything, but the person the Scientologist has a disagreement with, is automatically an SP. Not necessarily biting the hand that feeds you, but definitely biting the hand of someone who would be glad to go out with you and grab a bite. Sad.

OIC — you raise a very interesting point. Most of these people are decent folk, who believe (somewhere in that dark recess where truth and reality still lives) that contributing to what is globally considered to be a good thing – is the right and ethical thing to do. In actual fact, it is only right and ethical the first time it is done. The first act of giving is a Mulligan. You get to make that first mistake because you Are decent at heart. Because you come from a place where giving to those who do good, is the right thing to do.
These folks though, have glimpsed behind the curtain. They have seen the elegantly coiffed man’s serpent tail and have guiltily looked away. They have heard his words and deep within they registered as lies – but they continue to listen. For these reasons, and others as yet unknown, they have joined the ranks of The Fallen.

But Lord have Mercy, my forbearance is now at an end. There are few and faint signs of life within the Church and yet the faintest twitch of the corpus has these people singing praises and flocking to the streets.
Forty-two years ago, what I got into Scientology to fight and change, is now all that the Church has become. Who would have thought …

The ONLY real win that I know for certain they ever accomplished was very early in their existence when they managed to get Victor Gyory out of a Philadelphia psych hospital where they were attempting to shock treat him for the 50th time. Turned out they were doing it because he only spoke “gibberish”…which turned out to be Hungarian, not spoken by anyone in the hospital. Beyond that, I don’t know of anything legitimate they ever did.

It is natural to not even think someone or some group could be so evil because as a good person, you never expect anyone else to act that evil and so don’t suspect it and don’t look for it. Martha Stout in her book, “The Sociopath Next Door” goes over this in detail to point up how it can be that sociopaths walk among us undiscovered for many years some times. Well I counted 112 donors on the list. Given the intense fundraising I am sure everybody in the Valley and around still breathing has been pestered. So, that is pretty much what is left of active core of the Scientology in the Valley. By my educated guess knowing several of them at least 80% are flat broke.That means they live hand to mouth with no reserves or assets to spare.
1% of the donors account for 50% of the money,
and 10% of donors for 80%
and 20% of donors for 90% of the money.
That is about right and confirms the 80% flat broke stepping up with with very small donations.
Given they will need another 8-9 Million (if the plan numbers hold, which they never did in the past) one can estimate what the top 10 more affluent have to donate to make this happen.

I think they need to raise 11 mil or so (about 6 mil for the renos and another 5 mil for Dave) and they have about 8 mil to go as I read it.
Don’t be too surprised about the confusion. When I was trying to help the Sac Org I suggested that a line item estimate be prepared which would detail how much was needed and for what. It is of course an industry standard approach to design and construction projects and it allows you to create a time line for execution and an overall project budget.
Well as you can imagine, that went over like a turd in a punchbowl. It was a fellow named Dave who worked for Staubach & Co. that informed me that it was SO Policy that a member of the Church (Cult) could not be the General Contractor for a church project. The format changed. They used to put the big donors on the list first and then the donations got smaller as you read down the list so that the $50 donors were at the bottom. Now the first three or four were mere $50 donors. And I noticed some only gave $20 and one lone person gave only $10. That’s gotta be embarrassing for that person when they are measured and judged only by how much money they donate. The fact that some are only giving $10 or $20 tells me they are all tapped out from over-regging that has gone on too long. (Gone on years too long and a decade too long for Valley). OR it could also mean that there are some UTR’s who don’t want to flow power to the out tech Idle Org program and so only give a paltry amount to make it look like they are still on board when they aren’t. It’s a possibility.
Maybe small donors will be the new fad!!!!!!!!!!

Cindy, when I was an entry level UTR, showing up at most fundraisers and flowing very small amounts so as not to arouse suspicion was my own effective strategy, thought up all on my lonesome, until I expanded my internet searches and saw that this same strategy had also been used by a number of other still ins with one foot out the door.
