I only wish that there were more Scientologists like this man from the cartoon. Without attempting to sound critical – though that’s very hard to do for a Virgo/Aries like me, haha – I never was able to understand how it is that one chooses “Eternity and Total Freedom” over a family member and even over a friend. That just breaks my reality soooooooo much indeed.
All the disconnection treats that my org threw at me regarding any of my friends or romantic partners, I just laughed at it. My thought was, “How can they possibly think that “freedom” and “eternity” is more important for me than my loyalty towards my love ones?” That’s just insane, IMHO. I always challenged “authority”, and I always did what I thought was the correct thing to do; I was never anybody’s slave. That’s why I stayed in the SO only for a few months, and only because my routing out took that long.
The first time than an asshole hot shot Watchdog Committee executive guy yelled at me, I shouted back at him so loud, that he freaked out. “Do you know who the fuck I am and my post, EPFer”, he said. “I don’t give a fuck you are; don’t you fucking treat me like that again, asshole”, I replied. The bosun saved my neck and secretly told me, “He is an asshole, he deserved it”. The bosun had been an ex high profile executive before they put him to direct the EPF at PAC. I was (STILL are, haha) a nobody from the middle of nowhere, but I was not impressed by stupid ranks.
I altered the tech as I saw fitted the circumstances in the best interest of those I helped. I secretly took out of org lines several PCs who had been abusively and unprofessionally serviced, and I worked on their cases myself even though I wasn’t an officialy trained C/S and that I was doing my actions off the e-meter as I didn’t have one. But I corrected their cases. I made them feel well taken cared of, and I didn’t give a fuck if the org found out about it and declared my an “squirrel”. “Fuck them all”, was my attitude. “Being of REAL help is more important than protecting my own ass”
As much as I try to understand how can it be possible to decide to disconnect from a family member or friend or spouse, I just never get it no matter how much I had read about undue influence and about thought reform. I would gladly die for my love ones a thousand times over, and I would gladly give up my eternity for the happiness of those I love. “Hell” would be a “Paradise” to me if my being in it means that I saved anyone I love.
I guess that I was never a slave and I will never be. And that’s what I love soooooooo much about Leah. Her fighting spirit. Her unwillingness to let herself be humiliated by assholes. Her unwillingness to submit. Those are the real warriors. Those are the leaders we need.
Off-topic: A beautiful summer day here in southern VT, warm but not humid. The missus and I went and picked blueberries at a local farm, which we store in the freezer to last all year. Nearest $cion presence to me is over 200 miles away (New Haven or Boston) and apparently neither is doing well. There’s a huge drug problem here with several recent overdose deaths, but so far none of the front groups have surfaced to exploit the situation, and I’ll do what little I can to see that it stays that way.
Reading the posts here and on Tony’s site reminds me to be grateful for all the good things I have in my life and VERY grateful that I’ve never had anything to do with scientology. My heartfelt sympathy for all those who have been disconnected from their loved ones. I hope I live long enough to see the horror that is scientology “cleared” from the earth. I’m done.
A heartwarming strip R.B. I hope it will go this way for someone, or for many, because there have been too many cases where it’s ended up badly, with the couple bankrupt and broken up. I only hope more people awaken and take a good look at what their ‘church’ demands of them. If people would stop self-censoring what they read online, and gather as much info as possible, they would make better decisions. But then again, they are up against master fund-raisers who know how to manipulate, influence, guilt-trip, and apply persuasive tactics to get what they want… money.
I can tell you honestly it ended up happy for a few of us couples and family although not without some emotions really flying about during the coming out period you might say, but in the end all is good.
In the third panel, hubby says, “COB says that once SMP begins transmitting, all of us are going to start have some Major Stable Wins.”
Kind of hard to begin transmitting when you don’t have a broadcast license. Of course that lets the fund raising to get SuMP ‘on the air’ go on for ever. Which is the real point, isn’t it??
And what happens when they get that license? It simply means that all the kiddies in the org nurseries can sit around a TV set and watch stuff like ” Mr. Potter’s neighborhood “:
Gavin: here’s today’s special phrase, boys and girls!
GIVE ALL YOUR MONEY TO SCIENTOLOGY.
Can you do that, boys and girls? I know you can. You have to.
Not almost – is. A show of r horrors, in this day and age, beyond belief and not to be imagined as even remotely possible by the civilized world in the 21st century. And its really happening.
I hear you, Idle! But when you have realized it’s a scam and you simply walk away, as I’ve said before, you get your old life back! Freedom never felt so good as when I walked away from the cult in ’82. And when I left staff in Honolulu, the first thing I did was go to Waikiki Beach and paddled out for some tasty waves.
very nice “hope.” But it brought tears to my eyes as my marriage ended up just the way the Cult wanted it to: Over! almost a dozen years later & I am still sad
‘Cognition’, what a word. Did Al Einstein ‘cognate’ E=MC squared? Hubby finally got the cognition that all he was worth to $cientology was the money he paid.
Given the real estate buying and building changes that are going on, every clam is going to be in for a lot of 2am Thursday phone calls. Al those public TV pledge drives are going to be much more pleasant then a reg drive. You can turn PBS off.
According to the story, it came to him in a dream. He nevertheless still had to do a tremendous amount of work before presenting it to the world. I’d certain call it a cognition. And what’s wrong with new words? The world creates new ones, in multiple languages, every day. 🙂
Ha, ha, Einstein didn’t ‘cognate’ anything. ‘Cognate’ is not a verb, it’s a noun or an adjective (somewhat formal likely not used outside of academia). Einstein (take your pick): discovered, theorized, opined, stated, whatever, that E= MC squared. It amuses me how Hubbard and his cult manage to make language unintellligible and obsure with all the doingness, knowingness, mis-emotions, enturbulations, blah, blah, blah.
Genius is relative. I run a game store and I have customers who can quote every statistic from the Monster Manual, yet have a hard time tying their own shoes.
Seriously good panels! For me, and most of my Sci friends of the time, it was the increasing Org pressure throughout the 1970’s that drove us out. Plus the failure to deliver the 1971 grade/training chart promises.
Agreed, the failure to follow through, espeically, and either return or recredit for things which did not work, was one of the stupidest things Hubbard ever did. The constant raising of the prices was another stupidity.
Awesome RB…..this one really should be shown to everyone still “IN’ the bubble……to once again hear the truth about being sucked dry financially for the benefit of “the organization” is beyond cruelty. I am so looking forward to Aftermath #2…..as sad & sickening those interviews may be, at least yet more light is shined on the TRUTH.
I am so very hopeful entire families can exit as fast and safely as possible, and that ALL those family member who have turned their backs on their now “out” family do an about face and reunite. Yes, some have “moved on” ONLY because they HAD TO…..a spouse divorced you because YOU chose to LEAVE any way you could, and they REFUSE to join you
Such strength in character, to leave what one has know for decades as the ONLY way they’ve once lived their life, to enter basically the unknown and recreate a NEW and happier life.
For Leah & Mike and everyone who has participated in the interviews…JUSTICE will come!
Not quite. They’re not going to take that bank loan and their credit is apparently still good. They’re definitely getting out ahead of the scio game! Be sure, though, that there will still be many more calls and visits! LOL
Hey Mike, I know that you’re a very busy man but I want to thank you for all that you do!! Friday’s are my favorite day as far as your little comic book post goes! I’ve Loved them all but Yingling on a string top them all ? you’re a beautiful person Mike everyone whose fighting the good fight are.Do you ever think to yourself or get around friend’s and just laugh your ass off thinking about David Miscavige how it must be behind the scenes in his little Scientology bubble just flipping out because the cause for the greater good is crumbling beneath his feet, the trains coming down a huge mountain of sp’s and there are no brakes it’s heading straight towards the bad Scientologist and it’s going to Hit Hard!!! Please know that I believe that their are alot of good people in there I never forget that but the GREAT KARMA TSUNAMI IS COMING FOR YOU MR.POPE OF SCIENTOLOGY!!! take care enjoy your weekend with your beautiful family, life is beautiful!
Yo Dave,
I suggest you restudy what Shelley outlines above good buddy. If you have not had a bognition lately, retrain on the above until your blood pressure tops out and a glimmer of light pops into the vacuum between your ears.
That little glimmer (if You are able to perceive it) would be the “GREAT KARMA TSUNAMI” Shelley ( No, not Your lost wife Dave, …… Shelley Taylor) is talking about. The little bright spot Dave is the headlight on the Train from Cult Hell cummin’ on down the SP line that we out here on the fringes have laid just for You.
Dave, meet burnt toast. And BTW,say hi to Marion Pouw and Mike Sutter for me when You see them.
Yo OSA,
Howz them thar stats lookin this week boyz? Better get a new condition below Your lowest one ………… ‘TANKED’.
Formula: Find out WTF is wrong with Dave. Then find out THAT YOU ARE ……. in it with Him.
Coop, I believe that there is an ethics condition even below TANKED. It certainly applies to the special folks at OSA. It goes like this: FIND OUT IF YOU ARE (the last one to turn off the lights). The great benefit of this formula is that it provides actual case gain by blending in a form of locational. You look around and spot fellow OSA staff. Keep doing this until you can’t spot any more. At that point you know you have reached the EP. The primary benefit of this condition/process is that you completely bypass every thing up to and including DOUBT and the lights come on (finally). At this point you are free to walk out the door and start a new life of freedom from that nagging case of cultitus.
Of course there is no need to slog painfully through this process. The trouble is that it takes an incredible amount of courage and fortitude to pull off. Just bypassing the whole she-bang and heading out the door will do the trick. The good proprietor of this site is one of the few former OSA personnel to pull this off.
