It was perplexing to registrars when I insisted on applying Scientology finance policy to my own finances. That’s the only thing that prevented financial disaster for my family.
Scientology finance policy doesn’t allow overspending. Money must be on hand before it can be spent. It also doesn’t allow going into debt. Good for Hubbard’s orgs but not good when used by a parishioner.
Of course registrars have lots of practice dealing with parishioners’ objections to being fleeced, but seemed especially frustrated by trying to get around my instance on standard finance policy. In the end, it always came down to saying “No”, no matter what the registrar said.
Whenever I see a scientologist referring to scientology as their church or religion as the woman does in the last panel it catches my attention. In the 1970s that would have been considered very “uncool”. “Who the heck is religious!? Wake up!”
unelectedfloofgoofer observed:

The O.T.’s should just “as is” this virus. That would be easy for them I would think. If they can stop hurricanes, they can stop a little virus. C’mon O.T.’s! Do your stuff.
Does this mean that if I went down to the store to buy toilet paper, and contracted the virus there, it was my fault because I should not have had the desire to buy toilet paper???…………..
No according to scientology doctrine, you only get sick if you are PTS, so if you walked into a ward full of corona virus patients and you weren’t PTS of course you would walk away unscathed (eye roll).
It will be interesting to see how they react if the virus becomes widespread in California or Florida. You’d think something like that would expose how they’re just like everyone else – and maybe even more vulnerable than average do to their pseudo-science practices and anti-medical beliefs – but then again the remaining bubble dwellers seem mostly impervious to anything that might be a reality check.
The virus could take a real toll on members, staff and sea org since they have the particular risk factors of age and smoking, plus of course the sea org live in the sort of close quarters where it could spread easily. Their hypervigilance and obsessiveness has brought them a string of luck with things like the measles case on the ship, but at some point their constant existence right on the edge is going to result in one of those “black swan” events John P. Probably because Dave told him about the Are Tee Cees new dating game for single but upstat Oh Tees. Each million you dono into the coffers of hell gets you a night with a reg and a get out of ethics free card.
Kind of off topic but nor really. When you are in scientology, you are always working and always broke. Last night, my husband and I were talking about his brother’s wife, who is retirement age, but is going to work for a couple more years because she wants to. He commented that she has worked since she was a teenager, except for the time she took off when the kids were born.
I said “time off when the kids were born” that would have been nice. He asked me where I worked when my kids were babies. A really innocuous question. I honestly could not remember. I have taken my scientology life and locked it away in such a deep hole in my brain that I could not break in to remember where I worked during that time.
I dug and dug in my brain and finally figured it out, then I started remembering that we only had one car which my husband, who didn’t work, had to have, so I rode the bus downtown every day. Then I remembered a lot of other stuff. The offshoot? I woke up this morning with a migraine.
Yep. No wonder I locked all that shit in a box. So glad to be out of there and that I have my service dog. Now I get to call and make an appointment with my psychologist and relive some more shit.

@Dotey,
Really enjoyed your “success story” on finance.
I can definitely relate. My finances turned around almost immediately upon leaving the cult. There was a near-magical quality to this. I left nearly 8 years ago and haven’t been broke since. Its not that I got rich – no. I earn pretty much what I used to when I was in. I just have what I need with enough left over to give me a feeling of security. I’m never stressed about money any more. Its great!
We pinch ourselves everyday. Whenever we are in a bad mood, all one of us has to say is “this could be a lot worse. We could still be donating. We could be trying to dig up 20k. We could trying to figure some monumental (I do mean Mental) registrar stupidity out.”
I frequent the ESMB Redux blog. You should drop by sometime and tell us some stories. I still would love to plan something. Seriously.
Thanks, Dotey. Maybe I’ll give it a try. So far I’ve only posted here. I read Tony’s but have never posted there. ESMB is also interesting, very interesting with all the personal stories. When you say, “plan something” do you mean a kind of “get together’ – all of us, somewhere?
Sometimes I’d say, in as friendly and cheerful a tone level as I could manage,
“You’ve asked me this same question 5 times. Each time I’ve answered, ‘No’. We are not doing a repetitive process. You are not my auditor; I am not your PC. We are engaging in something called ‘2-way comm’. Also called a ‘conversation’. Now, you have just asked me the same question 5 times and I have given you the same answer 5 times. Are we done now?”
This would usually get me written up for being “1.1”.
Well, OK, so was 1.1. I couldn’t help it! Over and over and over again, the same thing. It got on my nerves and brought out my worst sarcastic impulses.
Laughing. The worst thing do you know what it is? This insistence is called “hardsell” and that for them means taking really good care of the person. There is also a definition. The truth is that the reg at that time sees a stat not a person. Scientology IS an implant for anyone comes in. Period.
Yes, its true, you just reminded me of that! Asking you for money over and over and over, irritating the hell out of you, driving you up a freakin’ wall by by ignoring your “no” and asking again and again and again, THAT, my friends, is called, in Scientology, “CARING for the person”. Ah, yes, they “cared” a great deal. Unreal. I mean, its Orwellian in how 180% OFF that is. They SO did not care about YOU at all. What they CARED about – all they ever cared about was Thursday at 2PM! Thanks for reminding me LRM, reminding me in this way so that I can once more say a fervent humble prayer of thanks that I’m longer a part of this insane organization!
OMG Peacemaker. That is awesome. I am going to write up that hat and give it to a few people that are being financially ruined by Scientology. Great job. You were not 1.1 – you were real. Good for you. You totally were at cause over your finances and did not allow that manipulation to occur. Would you like for others to have that same win? LOL! I would!
Hi Theetie, its Aqua and I’m the 1.1, not Peacemaker 🙂 Feel free to share and use the Anti-Cult-Extortion Defense Technique; it worked for me exactly once. And thanks for the kind acknowledgement 🙂
In many ways, the greatest win from scientology is getting OUT; and I would love ALL currently “in” to experience that wonderful state of “Clear from the cult”.
This was a great post today and a fine example on how really Scientology works. The “reach and withdraw” trick. They love bombed me until I signed contracts and had money sitting on account. Then the love bombing stopped and I saw the true condition of the other Scientologists who were trained to manipulate and trick people into believing Scientology was a great church. By then I was under the spell. I was invested and “believed” the propaganda. Holy smokes. Talk about losing your Havingness. Do Scientology and you will lose it all. A St Louis Org staff member and hard core Scientologist, Adam Heft, is working on increasing his havingness after blowing his wad on Scientology.
He is allegedly spending a lot of money on donations to the Ideal Org property in St Louis, which is now being sold. A staff member told me his wife, Susan LoGrasso Heft, is going up the Bridge now, thanks to Adam’s money. So he pays to do the Havingness Rundown and throws money around the course room after throwing money down the toilet donating to a building St Louis had to have but is now being sold? Oy Vey!!! I received some promotion piece from St Louis a while ago about Adam donating a million dollars. I am thinking Adam Heft inherited the money because he is a Case Supervisor and not supervising many Pre-Clears in St Louis, other than the few staff members. Where is the money in that? I am pleased to announce that the St Louis Org is circling the drain thanks to exposure of truth from Leah Remini, Mike Rinder, Alex Gibney, Lawrence Wright, Paulette Cooper, Tony Ortega, Karen DeLaC, Chris Shelton, Marc Headley, Aaron Smith Levin, Jeffrey Augustine, Marty Rathbun, Debbie Cook and a bunch of others which is causing the effect of emtpy Orgs around the globe. Thank you Ess Pee’s. It is so theta that no one is going into the St Louis Org anymore and my sources in Twin Cities tell me that Org is dead as well. I was in St Louis on business a few days ago and drove by the shit hole on Delmar. Maybe 8-10 cars in the parking lot. All staff. It is deader today than it was 10 years ago. You all helped. That is AWESOME and please continue.
Thanks Aqua. I would like to see more intel on all active Scientologists. If we report the truth about their true condition, perhaps it will help the poor sucker who gets lured into the Scientological trap and keeps them from investing and getting manipulated by the trained Scientologists. Scientology ruins lives.
I hear you and agree, Theetie. I’d like to believe that Still Ins lurk on this blog and at Tony’s, even though they don’t post. I’d like to believe it and I don’t think its far-fetched to do so. I lurked on Marty’s blog for nearly 2 years before I had the nerve to post anonymously. This was when Marty was against DM, before he flipped back to the dark side). The stories I read on that blog helped me a great deal and gave me the courage and fortitude I needed to leave.
That is exactly what happens. Many lurkers lurk UTR because every Scientologist is in doubt except for a moment when they “attest” to some “win” they are heavily invested in (money and time) so they want to be right. Their minds find something redeeming about whatever rundown or training to manipulate others gig they are involved with. No worries – that doubt comes back pretty quick.
Immediately, they will typically “key back in” because Scientology deals mainly in restimulation, never easing, never erasing.
Scientology has learned that – that behavior makes Scientology a lot more money. Scientology uses many tricks to key the Scientologist back in. Then they enforce heavy policies such as no talking about your case and to take that up in Auditing. So they use “the psychs” and are merchants of chaos and fear.
Same here Aqua. I think Marty did a lot of good exposing the church and that they got dirt on him to blackmail him with, or they threatened his family or threatened to bring out something about the adoption of his son, and then he had to do what DM said to prevent all that from coming out. Plus they probably gave him a lot of money to go back to the dark side. His videos after that truly did look like POW videos.
Money is only a consideration. You can have everything you deserve, and this Ultra Supra Epic Havingness Rundown will let you own the world!
Just keep dreaming…
“Money is only a consideration”. I loved that one, back in the day. Just a consideration, that was all it was…right. I also loved, “Money is trash to a thetan”.
After hearing that for a number of years (and falling for it), one day a Reg thru it at me again and out of some corner of my tiny thetan beingness I responded, “Yes, money is trash, except when the org wants it. When the org needs money, its valuable. When I need it, its trash. Right?”
Bill Handel, a host on the very popular Los Angeles KFI AM radio station, at 8 AM yesterday morning called $cientology “a total crock” on the air. This was while reporting on the Ventura Balloongate incident.
Years ago he had gotten an e-meter test at the celebrity center here in Los Angeles and basically ended up arguing with the auditor who saw a barely perceptible blip on the meter and tried to make a big deal out of it (as they must) to which Handel called him out on in a “Are you kidding? sort of way. Handel walked out.
He also told his employers iHeartRadio to be on the lookout for a lawsuit from Scientology that they have to defend him from per his contract.. He talked at length about the Ventura balloon release $cientology negative PR disaster. I was really surprised to hear someone on L.A. radio in a high market profile talk down $cientology like this.
Hmm…Ventura Opinion Leaders tweeting very negatively about the newly opened Scientology Org in their town; a popular radio jock dissing the Tech…

Theetie Wheetie says

Yep, it’s always another process that will fix you…. it’s kinda like”tomorrow” which never arrives because it’s always”tomorrow” 😁

Withdraw is really a thing? That’s hilarious. Where did LRH learn that? Bargaining with rug merchants in Marrakesh, I’d bet.

HGC10:”Where did LRH learn that? Bargaining with rug merchants in Marrakesh, I’d bet.”
HARDLY! he wouldn’t have done any bargaining; he had flunkies to do that sort of grunt work.

“EP of the havingness rundown:Quit the cult”
That would make it “the HAD-ness runaround”, with apologies for mangling RB’s turn of phrase.

Right?”

Edit: “…THREW, not ‘thru'”.

LoosingMyReligion says
Peter. You know, when 1000 balloons burst, they make a lot of noise and even annoy.

The Midas Touch Rundown?
Is that Reach & Withdraw on vehicle muffler’s?
Sounds like a new way for Dave to make money.
jere Lull (39 years recovering) says
Just DON’T reach for the muffler while the engine’s running. That’ll turn into a withdraw VERY quickly.
LoosingMyReligion says
Yeah? I seemed to remember being the orgs to dramatize money. Maybe I’m wrong.
Hey pal, listen to your wife once. And don’t go to any events for a while. You will see that things change.
