I do not know how to describe myself wrt how long I was in. I was “in” for about 2.5 days. It took me that long to realize “This thing is fucking NUTS!” But, I cannot take the credit all by myself. At the time, I had a friend who kept reminding me the creator of this insanity was a writer of Science Fiction”. He kept on pounding that home to me and it just kind of took over and I realized he was correct.
I am so thankful that I avoided all of the horror stories that I heard about in the movies and TV shows and in forums like this. I feel just furious to think of all the innocent victims who were cheated and harmed and even murdered while in this cult. Especially the people who were physically, emotionally and sexually abused while they were in.
Sometimes I think about that young lady who got into this thing and was sexually abused by some middle aged man with a wife and family and she got zero help from this scam. They protect the rapists in the scam rather than have any bad publicity which would block new members from joining and block new money from flowing into their coffers.
Well …. FUCK THEM! They should never have been allowed to profit from all this horseshit. Most of all, they NEVER should have been rewarded with this crazy Tax Exemption in the face of all these horrible sexual assaults.

I was on staff 40 years ago. I know of just one case of criminal perversion: the guy was a pedophile and sexually assaulted a 13 year old girl. He himself was in his late 30s.
He was a senior executive at Cont. Level and had previously been well respected.
As soon as the assault was discovered he was removed from post , put onto the RPF
and booted out of the Sea Org by OSA a few weeks later. This ended his involvement with Scientology.
The police were not called and so he never had to face criminal charges.

Lately, I’m most noticed how little sympathy/empathy I have for others. the excuses given for the recent riots leave me untouched: Mistakes were made. Cece, we were constantly told we were NOT good enough. Next week, no matter what miracles we’d pulled off, our stats HAD to be yet higher. Just matching last week was not a legal option. NOW, after 35 years working in a field where the products were visible and desired enough that people paid us for them, I found that I was more than just good enough. In a couple of cases, I got BIG merit raises the first few years because of the long-standing problems I’d solved. In another, I got the maximum merit raises for 15 years straight. Towards the end, I got into an argument where my co-worker would not accept that I’d made a mistake in a routine I’d written to support his work. He’d done his work as I instructed; my code didn’t give the correct answer. It was so funny afterwards that I only ended the argument by saying:”I made a mistake. Jere look I had the same when I left. My trick was this one – when you think to behave or think still in a cult ‘implanted’ manner just stop yourself for a sec and observe what is happening. LmR, that’s a good trick, but I first have to notice the inappropriate thought/emotion/action. I’ve gotten better, but still get blindsided and have to back up and repair the damage. Cece, we were constantly told we were NOT good enough. Next week, no matter what miracles we’d pulled off, our stats HAD to be yet higher. Just matching last week was not a legal option. NOW, after 35 years working in a field where the products were visible and desired enough that people paid us for them, I found that I was more than just good enough. In a couple of cases, I got BIG merit raises the first few years because of the long-standing problems I’d solved. In another, I got the maximum merit raises for 15 years straight. Towards the end, I got into an argument where my co-worker would not accept that I’d made a mistake in a routine I’d written to support his work. He’d done his work as I instructed; my code didn’t give the correct answer. It was so funny afterwards that I only ended the argument by saying:”I made a mistake. Get over it!” I could have been a bit more polite about it, of course.

Right now, “doing well” is being retired, waking up at the crack of noon– if I feel like it— and doing whatever the heck I feel like, while drinking copious amounts of fresh-brewed coffee. Well they could be practicing social distancing by moving staff to the empty Osceola hotel, to the empty Fort Harrison Hotel and the empty Sandcastle hotel to occupy rooms there. Since they have almost NO PUBLIC coming in for services (since churches are supposed to be closed), they have plenty of empty hotel rooms to relocate staff in during the pandemic.

I have some relatives who voted for Trump PURELY because of abortion. They are highly educated and quite well off. They are also and have been for many years ONE ISSUE voters and that issue is ABORTION. They would vote for Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck if they believed it would end abortion. They are intelligent, aware, educated as such they do CARE about other issues, but abortion, ending it, overturning RVW, making abortion once more illegal in the USA is and has always been their primary issue, the rudder, one might say, that steers their voting.
They’re also comfortably retired and they follow politics.
I’m going to give them some background on Joy Villas and let them know that how she as a prominent Scientologist has insinuated herself into the Trump White House and the Republican Party, palming herself off as a black Conservative who is anti – abortion when in fact the Church of Scientology has had a history of not only ENCOURAGING abortion amongst its clergy, staff and public but insofar as its clergy is concerned, MANDATING it.

I fully agree with you Gordon. But there is another way to look at this. That is like this:
When it doesn’t work, you must undergo expensive auditing or Sec Checks to learn what you did wrong. All the money it will cost you goes into the coffers of The Scam and some people who “handle” you get a cut of the proceeds. So, when you look at it like that, it is actually working really well – at your expense! The money keeps pouring in and they keep on laughing at you.
