This is something again which Scientology is deeply flawed.
Hubbard has left the movement incorrectly hiding the felonies which the quack “auditing” pseudo-talk-therapy digs up in the members.
There’s no good way to fix this.
As an old admin course supervisor, I think that outside education, outside legal training of the country and laws one is in, has to be given precedence over the OSA, DSA and Ethics Book tactics.
Auditing stirs up memories of felonies, and Scientology’s OSA and DSA departments using lawyers’ advice then dodge responsibility.
Scientology hasn’t proven itself a superior model of societal behavior by using Hubbard’s Ethics Book rules, that’s for sure.
It makes me think that IF Scientology’s methods are superior, (that’s never been promoted by Scientology), then Scientology OSA/DSA people would be bragging about it.
Scientology cannot lead by example, simply, due to they don’t have the “stats” to show for their superior societal behavior.
Instances where members who commited felonies then recanted, and went to authorities and confessed and suffered the consequences and made some sort of public amends, that would be a good step forward.
The Hare Krishnas did some major fixing up of their misdeeds some years back, by comparison.
I read in Variety that Ms Remini has again contracted with Kevin James in his “Kevin can Wait’ CBS TV series. Please note Mr. Miscavage, this is what a rising graph and an ‘upstat’ really looks like. Her prospering is hard to swallow, I know, but but please pull your size 3 booties as high as you can and man up to reality.
“I’m going to castrate that godforsaken pervert with my bare hands!”
Oh,well. So much for ethics tech.
I guess it’s true that when you reward downstats you get downstats.
when I was 17 and on the comm course, the HAS at the time was interviewing me, hoping for a quick recruit. He asked me if I had a girlfriend/boyfriend, I said no. He said, “you’ll be snapped up really quick.” I sat there, aghast and afraid to say what I was thinking…. “what if…..I don’t WANT to be ‘snapped up?” it scared me so badly. Wish it scared me away a bit more. (vagueness of sexual identity due to fear of recognition UTR)
Off topic, but kudos to California, Washington and New York for forming their own alliance to abide by the Paris Climate Accords. Hopefully more states will follow. Clean energy is our future and our destiny. Its progress can only be impeded but not denied. Today I’m giving thanks for the fresh air I breathe and the clean water I drink and for the good earth which gives us all that we have.
Hate to burst your bubble Aqua but that is Fake News. The MAJOR part of the Accords that were scuttled were the ones requiring the USA taxpayers to send MANY billions of $ to the worst polluting nations on Earth. (which is the part that the EU leaders were most upset about) CA, WA & NY are NOT going to be doing that. The USA is already the cleanest industrialized nation on Earth. So, not much will be different than now.
It helps if one actually reads the scores of pages of such “accords” rather than having the news distill into 30 second sound bites.
Also, Obamao never had the USA enter the Paris Accords as that required Congress to ratify which it didn’t and refused to do because of the foreign payment requirements for the USA 😉
Oh my… is that right? It astounds me the demands on the US that they send so much money abroad in foreign aid while their own internal problems worsen. In Australia I nearly fell over with the amount of natural gas we literally give Nth Korea for cents a liter while we pay nearly $2 liter for it domestically. Foreign aid demands from developing countries, while humanistic in nature go the way of many other things – bureaucratic/political mismanagement and greed. If the citizens of the poorer countries actually benefited in proportion to the amount of money flowing into their banking systems it wouldn’t be so bad.
Right I Yawn. Stop giving maniacs like NK gov fuel and they will fall.
DO give solar systems and solar water distil & purif equipment to poor PEOPLE in poor countries. Teach them (and give the equip needed) for poor people to build perm disaster proof, no maintenance housing like found here: http://www.dftw.org/domes/ecoshell-construction so they can have stability, safety and a valuable asset to pass to their children. Etc.
Sounds Ok to me, Wynski. Democrat or Republican, Liberal or Conservative, I believe that pollution issues undercut politics. Our primary identities are as humans. All of us and all of life require clean air, water and healthy soil. I’m for whatever assists the restoration and/or maintenance of these in the long term, that’s all. Of course, there has to be an intelligent, sensible balance between industry and environmental health. There is no question about that. Its a shame that the opinions about the right ways to go about this have been so politicized. Its also a shame that a lot of coal miners will be put out of work but then, 100 years ago Henry Ford put a lot of horse & buggy industry people out of work too. Mechanization entailing less and less manual labor has been a trending upwards since the 1600’s when the printing press was invented. That probably put a lot of scribes out of work. Jump to the present, the ability to buy goods via the internet is putting retail stores out of business and negatively impacting the landlords who own the property these retail stores and chains lease. We must all reinvent ourselves from time to time, I think.
Don’t worry. The coal miners are going back to work. The coal plants are firing back up as they were clean enough per fed law
.
Those illegal exec orders are being reversed.
Thank God for governors with at least some sense of planning for the future of our children and their children. Some of the wealthy might be able to buy water, but it’s gonna be a bitch tryin’ to buy clean air. ‘Nough said.
At last! Something on which we both can agree! US companies have shelled out millions to make their factories emission friendly in regards to the environment. Why should we fork out billions in taxpayer dollars to other countries so that they can do the same? As far as I am concerned, hats off to American free enterprise!
(That is , if the enterprise isn’t WISE. Know what I mean?)
That reminds me of a memo/order that came down the line in the army once. Field radio batteries for what was known as “77 sets” weighed a coupe of pounds each and were lithium based I believe and were throw away. The military must have realized how just many they were leaving in the field, thousands of them a year. We had to save them (yeah right!) and were told we had to send them back. I have no idea what they did with them after that, probably landfill out of sight somewhere.
Yes, we are doing horrible things to our planet.
IY, I think the AN/PRC-77 used a magnesium battery. I don’t know what sort of nasty stuff that might contain, but even with the acid and materials in a carbon battery, it’s certainly not good to leave tons of them downrange if it can be avoided.
RB, on the heels of Aaron Smith Levin’s heartbreaking video and considering all the adults that didn’t step forward and stand up for him and do what’s right, I read your incredible comic creation today.
It was such perfect timing for you to point out the absolute hypocrisy of, we can treat everybody else like this, but don’t treat MY kid like this.
I put up with out Tech, wrong indications, getting my case messed up and I just sucked it up. And then they messed with a member of my family and suddenly I could see clearly.
Finally that little Rebel inside of me rose up and I went online and I found Mike, Chris Shelton, Tony Ortega, esmb, and other wonderful brave ex Scientologists telling the truth.
Thus is just so excellent. Well done you.
Getting knocked out by an adult in scientology is deplorable.
Getting raped by a disgusting THING ranked higher than you, in a malignant narcissist’s fucked up worldview, is the reason that I am yanking daily on the ropes to bring this motherf***er down.
That’s the reason we need to be very strong on removing the Statue of Limitations on Child Sexual Assault……this has got to stop. Children are innocent and don’t have the physical strength to protect themselves.
How sad the blind eye, until it’s in you face. Enough is enough, we don’t let terrorists in this country but some how…. this is ok? Scientology, CLS, all these controlling “religions” need to be held accountable. Justice will prevail and be served. We are more in number, we do not have to put up with such discussing behavior from any person, let alone a cult. If Scientology were a person, already a life sentence.
One of the better examples of Scientology group think “in action” I’ve seen. You’re scary RB! Well done but factually scary. This has direct overtones of what Jan Eastgate dodged a bullet on by her being officially accused in court of advising a young Scientology victim of sexual perversion on what to say to authorities (good lawyers got her off). And while thinking on that, Eastgate was one of the more dumber Scientologists you’ll ever meet. Knew squiddly zip about anything except how to get dirt on people and use the authority over others Scientology presented. It’s easy to protect yourself in Scientology if you don’t have a conscience. I saw a number of idiots like that in the military too but Scientology takes it to new and disgusting lows. At least in the army stupidity eventually catches up with you and they post your ass somewhere else, retire you to a desk or promote you so you have to leave the area you fucked up. It does have some similarities to Scientology I guess but the interesting thing is, to rise up the ranks of Scientology, you don’t have to know anything about the subject, just be an asshole with brown nosing qualities!
Actually I found Jan Eastgate to have a sharp mind and much presence of mind. Also, when she first got into Scientology she did a full year of tech-training, and regardless of how truly beneficial that is, it means it can’t be said she knew squishy about anything.
It’s a shame that she has succumbed to contributing her time, energy and skill to forward Miscavige’s agenda in exchange for some support to her cause.
She would be much better off co-ordinating with the likes of Peter Breggin, David Healy, Robert Whitaker and other exceptional people who are doing so much in exposing and injecting some honesty and rationality to the dog of mainstream psychiatry that is wagged by the monolithic tail of the massive, and massively amoral, pharmaceutical corporations.
I’m sure she probably was, but she became a true Scientology product, and is still in it and still promoting it! My point is exactly that – that’s what Scientology does to people. It seems to be the more able you originally are, the harder the system works to cave you in. Jan Eastgate regularly gave lots of people (especially youngish girls) advice on how to live, what to do and who to hate. That OSA office on the 2nd floor in Sydney where she “worked” was a poisonous, hate inspired place. She audited no-one in all the years I knew of her! And I never saw her in the academy doing anything technical – not once! She was a powerful opinion leader in her day, she’s a Scientology criminal as far as I’m concerned working an evil agenda on anyone that will listen.
Miscavige also has a sharp mind and a big presence. I don’t see that as an asset, but more as a weapon!
In the news today: three ex-Penn State officials being sentenced today for their failure to report sexual abuse by former coach Jerry Sandusky. You don’t have to be guilty of sexual abuse to go to jail – you just have to have covered it up.
I see a major fiasco coming WITH jail sentences, for a lot of scientologists.
While there’s nothing gratifying about any abuses which have and will continue to come forth, I’m finding a certain measure of satisfaction in the prospect that Miscavage’s history of micromanaging will make it very difficult for him to scream ignorance. IMO this is the best shot at forcing him into court to answer charges or even merely as a witness.
Absolutely, 100% spot on and completely reflective of what I observed with staff and SO as regards ethics violations which did not involve the victimization of THEIR children. The ethics codes were for OTHER PEOPLES’s kids. Where there OWN kids were concerned, “helicopter parenting” doesn’t BEGIN to describe how obsessivethey were – about the little stuff. Their kids’ day to day lives were micro-managed. Every little thing they did and said was important, discussed, evaluated, etc. etc. Now, what would blow my mind is that while they obsessing over all the small, mundane, day to day stuff, they were, at the same time, oblivious and/or extremely neglectful of the BIG stuff involved in parenting, such as giving the child a firm foundation upon which he could function as an adult. What I observed was obsessive attention configured with extreme neglect. The parents professed to believing in personal responsibility along with the belief that children were only thetans in small bodies, but when THEIR kids acted out or screwed up it was NEVER their kids fault, never! The worst parenting I’ve ever seen. No wonder the still in kids are clueless zombies, they’ve had all their thinking done for them AND they’ve been given no future.
In fact, these kids were so robotic I could see how a young female Scientologist could be rather easily sexually victimized by an older male Sea Org, staff, or “opinion leader” of Scientology. All it would take would be an ORDER. “Come for a drive, I need to brief you on a vital issue”…”There is something you need to know; come into my office and lock the door so that we are not interrupted”…and these girls, conditioned from infancy to do as they’re told by their religion’s elders, would obey. And if the groper or rapist was an upstat it would be the kid’s fault. And then the parents would wail, but then, who put the kid there in the first place?
The corporate cherch has covered up and sought to handle every single case of sexual molestation, rape, incest, etc. within it by doing what most prestigious universities and private schools have always done in the past when presented with such accusations against students and faculty, which is to try and deal with the matter internally and keep it out of the public eye.
While that kind of “institution first” loyalty and reluctance to get law enforcement involved, except when forced to, has been called out and exposed on an increasing basis within the university and private school system in this country, the same can not be said at all of $cn, where cover up, victim blaming and ineffective internal “injustice” mechanisms have prevented the cult from taking any real responsibility for its behavior since the days of Elron.
$cn has always had this very strange orientation to sexuality, which closely mirrors Hubbard’s deviance, homophobia and preoccupation with themes of masturbation and humiliation. My bet is that there’s much more to be discovered there, in terms of the amount, severity and duration of sexual abuse that’s gone on unreported within the cult. Focusing in on the cherch’s complicity in denying justice and protection to its parishioners who’ve suffered sexual assault or molestation is exactly the right move here in the effort to expose this killer cult for exactly what it is!
There’s nothing that creates moral outrage and enraged demands for justice like the exposure of child physical and sexual abuse within an organization, which is exactly as it should be within any civilized country in the world. But when religious organizations are discovered to have not only condoned those crimes, but to have conspired to cover them up – even going so far as to target the victims in order to keep them quiet – then the level of public outrage can reach such heights of intensity that the authorities are either required to intervene or end up being accused of being part of the cover up themselves…which is exactly where season two of Leah’s series appears to be taking us!
Every single individual who’s experienced sexual molestation or assault by a fellow $cn cherch member, then had that crime “dealt with” through the cult’s internal system of fake justice instead of through law enforcement authorities, should strongly consider speaking out at this time, so that the cult’s systematic efforts to protect itself at whatever cost to victims is fully exposed and the criminals involved brought to justice and held to account for their crimes!
Thank you for this topic, RB… It had me seething at “Sir.”
Harpoona, your last paragraph, “Every single individual who’s experienced sexual molestation or assault by a fellow $cn cherch member, then had that crime “dealt with” through the cult’s internal system of fake justice instead of through law enforcement authorities, should strongly consider speaking out at this time….”
I agree! However, unfortunately for the victims, wouldn’t the statute of limitations apply in a lot of cases? What then?
Statute of limitations on sexual molestation of minors have been put aside before in cases involving religious organizations, so criminal prosecution isn’t out of the question. Failing that, civil suits can be filed.
Beyond seeking justice in the courts, just telling their personal stories openly and without fear of shame can have its own positive effects.
I can hardly wait to the new episodes of Aftermath #2 to be shown….THEN I would hopefully expect everyone on this board to write to everyone and anyone they can in the Politician Arena a DEMAND the Statute of Limitations on Child Sexual Abuse be REMOVED… It is well past the time to bring ADULTS who rape children to justice, & I don’t give a damn about whether the abuser is “religious” or not.
Bravo for your comment BL. Frankly I’ve always felt (with fervor) rape is a crime that should have no statute of limitations no matter who the victim us. Crimes like this against children is actually the only time I would be in favor of the death penalty. Children assaulted in this way will pay for the rest of their lives, a debt that wasn’t theirs to begin with.
Right now in America you have a religious organization performing FGM on young girls. Some of the doctors performing these atrocious acts are being prosecuted. From what I’ve seen, neither the parents nor the Mosques they attend are being held accountable.
To me, it’s quite similar to the child abuse and forced abortions in the Co$.
At some point, our lawmakers are going to have to take a good hard look at these so-called religious freedoms and draw a line in the sand as to what parents and priests can legally get away with.
Letters to ones senators and congressmen are a vital ingredient to getting this crap stopped.
The mother, grandmother, aunt etc of these innocent young women are secretly taking their OWN daughters to have this procedure done. They fell that it will keep their daughter from going out & having “sex with other men” if the young girl isn’t getting any “pleasure out of it”……..
The ONLY purpose therefore would be to be able to have sex to have children, but not for any type of sexual pleasure for the young woman…..it is BRUTAL….in foreign countries this procedure done WITHOUT anesthesia, without antibiotics and sometimes a rusty knife or a piece of sharp glass is used…..
Imagine a man approaching another man with a sharp piece of glass to CUT OFF some of his penis so he receives NO sexual pleasure……..WOW, now THAT will never happen.
Yes, Balletlady, it’s called FGM. Readers, please Google search if not familiar with the term. Many people in our civilization are not even aware such a barbaric thing is routinely being done to millions of young girls, usually ages 7 to 10, who are subjected to this horrific procedure in their home countries and that girls who immigrate here are often forced to have it done to them.
The World Health Organization condemns this medically harmful mutilation of females, but their religion calls for it so this barbaric cutting is still being done. It is harmful, painful, and permanently and negatively affects the physical and emotional health of females. It is supposed to keep girls ‘chaste’ and ‘pure’ until marriage, but is actually an early step in the total subjugation of females in their society, sending them a clear message that not even their own bodies belong to them.
The point of this is that we do need stronger laws to protect children. No religious organization should be able to ignore child labor laws, or deny the right of children to go to school and be educated, or disregard any other law that has been put in place to protect children. It shouldn’t be ok to refuse children their rights, because of their parents ‘religion’. Adults have the capacity to reason, decide, and consent (to various degrees) but children do not, and we should not allow them to be hurt or harmed, because of someone’s system of belief.
Relating this to Scientology, kids in the Sea Org shouldn’t be working 100 hours a week, or sent out in the streets to sell pamphlets, or taken out of school to work for the church.
They should be allowed to receive an education, get the proper nutrition, rest, and time to pursue other activities. If we do ignore laws meant to protect children, how far will it go?
For instance, there was a case of a man who immigrated to Iowa who insisted he was legally entitled to marry his 7 and 9 year old daughters to grown men in their 40’s, right here in the U.S., because it was allowed by his religion. How far do we go to protect the right to practice a religion with the need to protect children?
An amazing piece showing the do as I say not as I do aspect of Ron, dm, and the policies of Scientology. RB there are not enough words to thank you for your tireless work these last years. You are a very special treasure & I admire and love you Always.??
Yes, “other people” aren’t real people to Scientologists. Home to a Scientologist is an ugly thing for any social minded person to try to wrap their thinking gear around. And it’s anyone’s guess who a Scientologist will throw under the bus when push comes to shove – disgusting culture behind the double triangle. It plays both side against the middle and is enforced by policy!
Yo Dave,
I just finished watching Leah and Mike’s latest A & E ‘reality’ show good buddy. Then I read RBs column.
Dave, let me be the first to let you in on a little secret. YOU ARE FUCKED! No matter where You go, what You do, how You live ………… there is nothing You can do to escape the light of truth from being shined onto You and Your gross ‘religion of hate’ …………..good fucking buddy.
Enjoy Your time in the limelight of history Dave. It isn’t what You imagined I am sure. Keep on keepin on and know this …………. we will too ………..until You and your seething hatred filled cult is gone ………..Dave.
BTW, how were last weeks stats? Did you count the millions of new people exposed to the truth about $cientology? FYI, stats in that category are at all time highs …… Dave! Congrats on that!
I just want to point out, I think that Miscavige and his executives have continued on with the old Hubbard mindset that some latest, greatest thing is finally going to do what nothing before has succeeded in doing – and save their posteriors.
My guess is that right now they are in denial, and think that the start of SuMP broadcasting is going to completely overwhelm any little bit of negative publicity from Leah and Mike – and start driving the masses into their big new “ideal” buildings. Similarly, those who pull off financial Ponzi schemes are not only self-deluded, but often continue rationalizing even after they get busted, and believe that some stroke of luck would have saved them and allowed to them to fulfill their promises.
Miscavige may be pissed off about what’s going on – and taking it out on his subordinates – but I doubt he “is in present time” enough to be rationally impacted by the severity of his situation.
” Miscavige may be pissed off about what’s going on – and taking it out on his subordinates – but I doubt he “is in present time” enough to be rationally impacted by the severity of his situation.”
I say he due for a major Bognition which will be arriving in due course ………….. soon. Somehow my Ohh Tea abilities have greatly improved since leaving Dave’s little cult …… I perceive He is having major problems getting anyone to arrive at the boat for His Vourage this season.
No doubt there will be happy times on the Fleecewinds this year. Maybe they could have a showing of Aftermath for all two arrivals!
I loved when the Australian journalist basically connected the dots and put forth that the church is guilty of money laundering to avoid taxes. Maybe the Church should be under a RICO investigation!
So sad that this is an excellent example of what happens from what I’ve learned from you, Leah, your guests and all the other videos I’ve watched and books I’ve read. Only thing I wonder about is if the female “sir” (how bizarre they call females “sir”) actually would call the police, etc. SMH.
Scientology actually fails big time trying to emulate military protocols. It just uses it’s version of it for disciplinary abuse for money acquisition, delusion, lies and thuggery. Hubbard lied about his military experience remember? What does that tell you about the organisation he modeled his ambitions and life on?
Good to meet you gravitysucks, I noticed you asked why women are called sir in my exprience in The Sea Org all women officers are called sir. Ron’s nod to his ” military service ” lol. ?
Gravitysucks, all members of the Sea Org are addressed as “mister” and “sir”, whether they are male or female. I’m not sure why this is but I’m betting it’s because of the idea that the thetan (Scientology for spirit) doesn’t have gender.
Hypocritology. The cognitive dissonance is strong in that one.
Scientology is one of the most clear cut examples of everything that is wrong with an so called organized religion.
I have yet to encounter ANY organized religion in which its followers PRACTICE what the religion says! How many Christians DO what Christ said to do in the various life situations he itemized? How many of them actually OPERATE in their lives according to what is advised in the New Testament? like this in life? No, I’m afraid that merely going to church every Sunday and saying how much they believe and so forth is pretty much the norm for your average Christian. Do you know any who, if someone were trying to steal their coat, would just give it to the thief? Neither do I. I’m not Jewish, but at least the Jews don’t operate in cognitive dissonance with what the Old Testament says about punishment: “An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth”. So, if a Jew believes in capital punishment at least he’s not a hyporcrite with regard to the religion to which he adheres.
Good Lord! what a chance I wasn’t drinking coffee, I would have spilled it all over the keyboard. This is so hilarious, the utmost example of the understanding RB has of clam psychology.
This is what happens when you try to keep everything ‘in house’. $cientology is just the reflection of Lron’s screwed up mind. ‘Upstats’ get away with everything, ‘downstats’ get all the shit. Why? Because Lron wanted the money, first and foremost.
‘Aftermath’ will have a field day with all of the rape and sexual misconduct evidence out there.
The beginning of my wake-up was being called into ethics over something to do with a staff member at CC. I even consulted my field auditor to get the proper policy applied but, in the end… the cherch pulled a 180 and tried to make it look like it was all my fault and the fastest one of all… the auditor says: “Oh, the CS told me to tell you I was supposed to be saying I’m not auditing you.” Which I knew meant this was a switcheroo… a sec check and NOT a custom confessional (longer story than this but the data was from my auditing session and hence the clarification on the policy The cherch wanted to sec check me!). I put down the cans and said I’m done. I wasn’t taking the fall, being their scapegoat, to make their staff member look good when there was mutual unethical behavior on both parties. Even more happened, ala Danny Masterson confrontation style meeting with Karen Hollander, Pres. CCI… you get the idea. Despicable, mind boggling, logic-defying cover-up and my folder is still sitting on the unfinished cycles stack.
This is deeply troubling to me on so many levels. I don’t even know where to begin.
By speaking out…hopefully this will give other former members the courage to come forward and tell their stories….so they know they’re not alone…and maybe begin to heal.
Mike…..you are doing an AWESOME thing.
KEEP GOING!!!!!
Wow. Sad but true. Yes, I know of an SO member that raped his cousin when she was a minor and years later when she brought it up to him and wondered what was ever done to handle him, he said that him getting her into scientology was his amends. She would probably deny she ever told me any of this because she lives in the fear and toxicity of the church of scientology declaring her and breaking apart her family. But when she confided in me this story (which happened at least 20 years earlier), she was still traumatized by the statutory rape.
I was reflecting today on the degree and layers of perversion that exists in the acceptance of SO MUCH WRONG in the church of scientology. No one hardly brings up the yelling or the sleep deprivation that we accepted as okay or the ripping off of accounts or credit cards for that matter. (I had a friend tell me that her credit card was ripped off for $30,000 from an SO member and she let it slide – (1) because she didn’t want him to get in trouble (2) because she didn’t want herself to get in trouble with the church if she called the police or reported this felony to the proper authorities. So, she just got the auditing she didn’t want.
There are stories after stories of infractions, misdemeanors, felonies that we as scientologists “accepted.”
GEEZ! Is there not enough good in it that it could actually exist on his own two feet as a religion without all the cruelty and abuse!
I also know of someone whose credit card was ripped off for $30,000 via unauthorized use of her credit card, who told me she let it slide for the precise reasons you listed, though this person was not ripped off for auditing but for one of the many “straight donos” that abound in the cult.
Well, I must not be a good Scientologist because if they ever did that to me, the proper authorities would be notified and ethics actions involving this be damned!
Thank goodness Rolf Harris and Bill Cosby aren’t Scientologists. Image if they were? Getting the bus out for big celebs makes instant world news but Scientology would have done its best to protect them and their income cache.
Yes, cruelty and abuse are the true Scientology trade marks!
“GEEZ! Is there not enough good in it that it could actually exist on his own two feet as a religion without all the cruelty and abuse!”
I had (what I thought was) gain, wrote miles of SS and loved all of it, and now view every single bit as toxic – it was all a lie and if I wasn’t so brainwashed I’d’ve woken up and had a life. I now view every single piece of it as evil due to KSW and the toxic policies and hubbard constant lies. The gain is similar to having a wonderful flavor in a big glass of poison.
Of course. They don’t mind stuff happening to someone else (or their child), but when it happens to them personally, they realize just how destructive their policies can be.
Thank you RB. This was funny, enlightening…….and infuriating.
I know Mary, and that’s what is so infuriating about all of this. How many more victims is it going to take in order to compel those who are sworn to protect their citizens to actually wake the hell up, get off their apathetic asses, and actually do something about this madness? It should only take ONE person being abused like this to raise the alarm that something is very wrong here!
Justice for child exploitation, abuse, and rape…..according to Hubbard policy? Allowed on the basis of “religious freedom”? What universe are we living in here?
This is scary. Just sick and so wrong. Its so hard to believe this not only happened once, but still happens and seems to be happening across the world. This is (one of the reasons) i won’t be going to see any movies from Scientologists. I was going to go see Tom’s new movie. However i just can’t do that in good conscience now.
I won’t watch any films or series with $cientologists in them. I just can’t. They turn around and give a lot of their money to the cult and I’ll be damned if I’m gonna give any $ci actor a single dime to contribute to this criminal organization.
I look at it this way: we could have boycotted Leah Remini’s TV show and other work back in the day when she was in, drinking the Koolaid, and giving millions to the cult. Well, now she’s out! I like to think of EVERY Scn celeb as POTENTIALLY out, on their way, out. In the meantime, if I like their work, I’ll see it. I don’t like Cruise as an actor and Kirstie Alley is an utter bore in my opinion and that won’t necessarily change once, or if, they leave the cult. I will certainly like them much better as PEOPLE if they do leave, but that won’t necessarily make them more talented. But that’s just me.
I don’t watch most movies/tv shows with scientology members in them because the disgust I feel for the church is forefront in my mind as soon as I see their faces and I just can’t set it aside. Completely ruins the experience for me. I will never watch Handmaiden’s Tale with Elizabeth Moss for this reason. Too bad because I really enjoyed her performance in Mad Men, before I knew she was a scientologist. Now that I know, I can’t stand to even look at her because she defends her religion or says she doesn’t want to talk about it. EFF HER! I will never support her projects again, can’t suspend my disbelief where these scientology actors are concerned. Another thing that bothers me about Moss is her comment that Handmaiden’s Tale was not a “feminist story”. EFF HER AGAIN! She benefits greatly from the hard work and suffering of feminists before her and she refuses to acknowledge it.

Hey Mike – I have someone for your show, along the lines of this RB which, by the way, was HILARIOUS…if it wasn’t so true.
I’ll drop you an email when I’ve got all the contact info ready.

Deb says
Thank you !
Wynski says
I Yawnalot says
Oh my… is that right? It astounds me the demands on the US that they send so much money abroad in foreign aid while their own internal problems worsen. In Australia I nearly fell over with the amount of natural gas we literally give Nth Korea for cents a liter while we pay nearly $2 liter for it domestically. Foreign aid demands from developing countries, while humanistic in nature go the way of many other things – bureaucratic/political mismanagement and greed. If the citizens of the poorer countries actually benefited in proportion to the amount of money flowing into their banking systems it wouldn’t be so bad.
Wynski says
Right I Yawn. Stop giving maniacs like NK gov fuel and they will fall.
DO give solar systems and solar water distil & purif equipment to poor PEOPLE in poor countries. Teach them (and give the equip needed) for poor people to build perm disaster proof, no maintenance housing like found here: http://www.dftw.org/domes/ecoshell-construction so they can have stability, safety and a valuable asset to pass to their children. Etc.
Aquamarine says
Wynski says
Don’t worry. The coal miners are going back to work. The coal plants are firing back up as they were clean enough per fed law

Barbara. If all the countries come UP to current US emission standards, there will ALWAYS be plenty of clean air to breathe.
alcoboyy says
At last! Something on which we both can agree! US companies have shelled out millions to make their factories emission friendly in regards to the environment. Why should we fork out billions in taxpayer dollars to other countries so that they can do the same? As far as I am concerned, hats off to American free enterprise!

Have you seen the horrible damage caused to our planet by strip mining materials for lithium batteries that go into “green” cars?
(Balletlady) says
The same with fracking….what a mess it is creating……
I Yawnalot says
That reminds me of a memo/order that came down the line in the army once. Field radio batteries for what was known as “77 sets” weighed a coupe of pounds each and were lithium based I believe and were throw away. The military must have realized how just many they were leaving in the field, thousands of them a year. We had to save them (yeah right!) and were told we had to send them back. I have no idea what they did with them after that, probably landfill out of sight somewhere.
Yes, we are doing horrible things to our planet.
Wynski says
I Yawn, lithium batteries were invented in the mid-70’s and didn’t come into that kind of use for anther decade
PeaceMaker says
IY, I think the AN/PRC-77 used a magnesium battery. I don’t know what sort of nasty stuff that might contain, but even with the acid and materials in a carbon battery, it’s certainly not good to leave tons of them downrange if it can be avoided.
I Yawnalot says
Yeah, that’s the ones, magnesium hey? Got that confused but it’s still nasty stuff to leave about in such quantities.

Oiram says
I Yawnalot says
Alice Graves says
In the news today: three ex-Penn State officials being sentenced today for their failure to report sexual abuse by former coach Jerry Sandusky. You don’t have to be guilty of sexual abuse to go to jail – you just have to have covered it up.
I see a major fiasco coming WITH jail sentences, for a lot of scientologists.
1984 says
Alice, this could be interesting. Is the time limit different different for covering it up, vs the time limit for the actual crime?
Liz Breckow says
While there’s nothing gratifying about any abuses which have and will continue to come forth, I’m finding a certain measure of satisfaction in the prospect that Miscavage’s history of micromanaging will make it very difficult for him to scream ignorance. IMO this is the best shot at forcing him into court to answer charges or even merely as a witness.
Aquamarine says
Aquamarine says
Cindy says
Yes, it isn’t a crime unless it personally happens to you is the mind set of the SO members. Hard hitting truths, RB. Thank you.

Harpoona Frittata says
TitleWaves says
Thank you for this topic, RB… It had me seething at “Sir.”
Harpoona, your last paragraph, “Every single individual who’s experienced sexual molestation or assault by a fellow $cn cherch member, then had that crime “dealt with” through the cult’s internal system of fake justice instead of through law enforcement authorities, should strongly consider speaking out at this time….”
I agree! However, unfortunately for the victims, wouldn’t the statute of limitations apply in a lot of cases? What then?
Your thoughts?
Thank you.
Harpoona Frittata says
Statute of limitations on sexual molestation of minors have been put aside before in cases involving religious organizations, so criminal prosecution isn’t out of the question. Failing that, civil suits can be filed.
Beyond seeking justice in the courts, just telling their personal stories openly and without fear of shame can have its own positive effects.
(Balletlady) says
I can hardly wait to the new episodes of Aftermath #2 to be shown….THEN I would hopefully expect everyone on this board to write to everyone and anyone they can in the Politician Arena a DEMAND the Statute of Limitations on Child Sexual Abuse be REMOVED… It is well past the time to bring ADULTS who rape children to justice, & I don’t give a damn about whether the abuser is “religious” or not.
Barbara Carr says
Bravo for your comment BL. Frankly I’ve always felt (with fervor) rape is a crime that should have no statute of limitations no matter who the victim us. Crimes like this against children is actually the only time I would be in favor of the death penalty. Children assaulted in this way will pay for the rest of their lives, a debt that wasn’t theirs to begin with.
LDW says
Right now in America you have a religious organization performing FGM on young girls. Some of the doctors performing these atrocious acts are being prosecuted. From what I’ve seen, neither the parents nor the Mosques they attend are being held accountable.
To me, it’s quite similar to the child abuse and forced abortions in the Co$.
At some point, our lawmakers are going to have to take a good hard look at these so-called religious freedoms and draw a line in the sand as to what parents and priests can legally get away with.
Letters to ones senators and congressmen are a vital ingredient to getting this crap stopped.
(Balletlady) says
T.J. says

Scientology actually fails big time trying to emulate military protocols. It just uses it’s version of it for disciplinary abuse for money acquisition, delusion, lies and thuggery. Hubbard lied about his military experience remember? What does that tell you about the organisation he modeled his ambitions and life on?
Gravitysucks says
Aren’t all calls monitored?
Ann B Watson says
Good to meet you gravitysucks, I noticed you asked why women are called sir in my exprience in The Sea Org all women officers are called sir. Ron’s nod to his ” military service ” lol. ?
alcoboyy says
Gravitysucks, all members of the Sea Org are addressed as “mister” and “sir”, whether they are male or female. I’m not sure why this is but I’m betting it’s because of the idea that the thetan (Scientology for spirit) doesn’t have gender.

Hypocritology. The cognitive dissonance is strong in that one.
Scientology is one of the most clear cut examples of everything that is wrong with an so called organized religion.
Aquamarine says
I so agree!
Aquamarine says

Jaye R says
Yep.

McCarran says
Aquamarine says
McCarran,
I also know of someone whose credit card was ripped off for $30,000 via unauthorized use of her credit card, who told me she let it slide for the precise reasons you listed, though this person was not ripped off for auditing but for one of the many “straight donos” that abound in the cult.
McCarran says
Wow. I’ve heard several more.

Thank goodness Rolf Harris and Bill Cosby aren’t Scientologists. Image if they were? Getting the bus out for big celebs makes instant world news but Scientology would have done its best to protect them and their income cache.
Yes, cruelty and abuse are the true Scientology trade marks!
secretfornow says

Ha ha! Good one!

It’s a long fly ball….deep center field…back back back its OUTTA HERE! RB just knocked it out of the park!!!
scIRONY at it’s finest
Mick Roberts says
Of course. They don’t mind stuff happening to someone else (or their child), but when it happens to them personally, they realize just how destructive their policies can be.
Thank you RB. This was funny, enlightening…….and infuriating.
McCarran says
What I’m discovering more and more is that a great many people have to be abused to stand up against it.
Mick Roberts says
I know Mary, and that’s what is so infuriating about all of this. How many more victims is it going to take in order to compel those who are sworn to protect their citizens to actually wake the hell up, get off their apathetic asses, and actually do something about this madness? It should only take ONE person being abused like this to raise the alarm that something is very wrong here!
Justice for child exploitation, abuse, and rape…..according to Hubbard policy? Allowed on the basis of “religious freedom”? What universe are we living in here?
thegman77 says
Oh, RB, that is so good! Can’t think of a description good enough. You are obviously the “cat’s meow”! As well as being Miscavige’s nemesis!
xenu's son says

This is scary. Just sick and so wrong. Its so hard to believe this not only happened once, but still happens and seems to be happening across the world. This is (one of the reasons) i won’t be going to see any movies from Scientologists. I was going to go see Tom’s new movie. However i just can’t do that in good conscience now.
McCarran says
Amen.
Old Surfer Dude says
Little Tommy Cruise is one of the biggest consumer’s of Kool-Aid. And…he’s a major idiot.
I Yawnalot says
Mr Major Idiot if you don’t mind… geezers, what do you have to do to get some respect shown around here?
KatherineINCali says
I won’t watch any films or series with $cientologists in them. I just can’t. They turn around and give a lot of their money to the cult and I’ll be damned if I’m gonna give any $ci actor a single dime to contribute to this criminal organization.
Aquamarine says
I wouldn’t see a Tom Cruise movie anyway but this makes it even easier 🙂
Aquamarine says
But that’s just me.
mk says
Aquamarine says
I understand, mk.
