Hi Liz – I know that it may seem incomprehensible that anyone wouldn’t see that “disconnection alone” is enough to leave.
I don’t feel that it’s a “bleeding heart” who has empathy for the people who can’t see the forest for the trees, so to speak. It’s one of those things where you had to be there. Like the frog boiling slowly, you don’t know that your goose is cooked until you’re served up on a platter.
I was in over 35 years. Disconnection isn’t what it used to be. Early on, it was only for people who were really, honestly, hostile to the person and you only had to disconnect after trying to handle the person with communication and seeing where you possibly antagonized the person. And, when someone was considered for being declared suppresive, it took a LOT to have that label put on goldenrod. We all knew how serious it was and did everything possible NOT to declare the person. They were given every chance.
But now, swat at a fly wrong and, “Whoosh!” down the chute you go. Now the person is declared for internally political reasons. Terrible.
Also, what you see going on with Scientologists and staying with Scientology is the Stockholm Syndrome, IMHO.
Just like a boyfriend/girlfriend who seem to be the perfect, most wonderful match in the beginning, Scientology actually has benefits and useful tools to improve the quality of life. Say what you will about Hubbard, because he actually did some very wrong things, but he also cared about the human condition and was, especially early on, trying to assist others with his research.
So there we are, around good people who all want to help others, using these new tools that are helpful to us and others. GREAT!
But then the abuse starts. We didn’t get the brunt of that in the 70’s. The only thing we were asked for is money to do our next course or auditing, which is what we wanted.
Other people, outside, were being abused but we were mushrooms, being kept in the dark on those counts.
Then, the mission holders were taken out in 1982 and a boatload of people left. I knew many of those people at that time but I didn’t see that it was irreperable internally, so I stayed.
Then Miscavige was in, more and more and then Hubbard died. A lot of us older folks still believed it was the same old, “do right” Scientology as the decades moved on. Then we started getting regged and regged for the IAS, sold books we didn’t need. We were told that all that training we did until “The great and powerful Miscavige” brought us the “Golden Age of Tech” was all worthless (???) and that we were the “bllind leading the blind”. WHAT??
We remembered the original purpose of helping and being helped and kept on with this abusive boyfriend called the Church, hoping that it would stop being abusive and nuts. Tom Cruise was the most valuable Scientologist? What about the veteran Sea Org people who were auditing people everyday while eating beans and rice through all of the 80s and 90s and working 20 hours a day? Pffft. And I cringed at that Tom Cruise video and prayed that the press never get ahold of it. I knew that what did happen, would happen. Oy vey.
For me, when I found out that Miscavige had taken out all of the people who a person could report to, to fix things that were wrong internally AND I read Debbie Cook’s letter, all of the red flags I’d been looking at for 30 of those years all came to focus and I realized that there is no way at all that the church can be fixed from the inside out.
So you see, its not a black and white situation. Hubbard is not “totally evil” as he’s been demonized. As you say though, he’s dead now. Why waste the energy on what he did or didn’t do? Many great people have been crazy, Van Gogh’s ear, King Henry the VIII’s affairs and killing his wives, Newton’s tirades, Tesla’s strange habits and lack of a relationship all his life. Let it go.
But Miscavige has CHOSEN to be, IMO, a worse kind of evil than Ron ever imagined. Ron had, as at least part of his intention, to protect the group. Miscavige is all in for himself only. For God’s sake, having his own father followed and telling them to let him die? Allowing Scott Campbell to nearly die and his people encouraging him to jump off the roof? Pure evil.
Beating people up just because he’s in a position where they can’t fight back? Sadistically sociopathic.
Scientology itself has merit and some very useful tools. Miscavige, on the other hand, is just a tool. And a suppressive one, at that.
Is he a product of his Scientological upbringing? Hell no. He was slugging people in session at age 12. He’s using corporate Scientology as a weapon to protect, feed and intoxicate his little self. As far as the limited space thing goes. If 100 people are ready, McCarran, Claudio and the Goldbergs would be included in those 100 so they’ve graciously freed up some space right there. Also, since I never routed onto VII, quit at V, I must ask, why is it that the more able you get, the more fragile you become. I’ve heard of those auditing VII who have to be celibate so they don’t get enturbulated. How can it be that the more able you become the more protection you require?
This is the same scenario dusted off from 1978. When the church was in a mess in that year, they offered OT VIII, OT IX, and OT X for sale in advance. It was simply a scam. I worked in the Sandcastle in 1987 calling solo auditors on OT VII. There were about 2,000 names in the file. I called several hundred.
OT VIII, the anti-Christ version, was released on the Freewinds in May 1988. I completed it July 17,1988.
The level was pulled right after that month.
There are two emotions in Scientology concerning the OT levels. They are hope and fear. OT’s hope that Hubbard had something real; they fear that he was bluffing. A few members will fall for the scam out of a combination of hope and fear.

I remember years and years ago reading I think it was in a scientology magazine or somewhere that on the OT 10 course you are given a blank sheet of paper.
They could start delivering OT IX and X and hand out blank sheets of paper on the course and if the students complain they cannot see whats written on the blank sheets of paper say thats because they are not OT enough to see .

In the old OT levels there were some actions that actually drilled OT perceptics. When too many people (like everybody) couldn’t consistently demonstrate the EP, those drills were dropped in favor of more BT exorcism, but the drills are still out there. Even Pope McSavage knows his BS is stretching thin and he has to come up with something before long, and I’m going on the record here to say that’s where he’ll go to pull a rabbit out of a hat. Of course, people still won’t be able to demonstrate the EP, but it will buy the little con man some time and generate the cash he’s Jones’ing for.

I predicted some time ago that David Miscavige would make up something and call it OT 9 and 10. After all in 1986 he made up the story about dead El Ron going onto target 2 and that the higher OT levels had to be done without a body because the body was an impediment. According to David Miscavige, dead El Ron was in perfect condition with all of his OT abilities when he causitively dropped his body.
He may just take some of the techniques off of the old OT levels, add some of the route one processes in Creation of Human Ability, repackage it, and call it OT 9 and 10. Most of the sheep have never seen or heard of the old OT levels and it would all be new to them.
There is no OT 9 and 10 so whatever Miscavige does will be fraud.

In the world of Scientology people are supposed to be measured by their valuable final products.
The most valuable final product of Scientology is supposed to be a being in native state.
If Scientology’s statistical method was being used properly, the person in charge of Scientology should probably have a statistic that measures either number of people in native state, or number of people prepared to take the next unreleased level toward native state.
Yet the statistic assigned to the person in charge of Scientology is “international reserves”.
That is an interesting contradiction.
If one does buy into the ultimate promise of Scientology, and if one does have faith in Scientology’s administrative system, then one would have to conclude that having only 100 people ready for OT 9 is pretty much the ultimate down statistic for the person running the church of Scientology.
I guess we should assume that 100 people ready for OT 9 is actually straight up and vertical from whatever the hell it was before?
I do recognize that the number of people ready for OT 9 instantly went to zero once Golden age of tech 2 came out.
But even then, the point still applies.

EVEN IF there was a IX and X, anyone who goes in to do this course will have to retrain at another hefty cost when IX and X actually comes out (which they won’t unless they are pulled from something else).
When I was on the Ship in 2009, I saw several people getting set-ups for IX and X. I wanted to cry for them then. This is fraud. Pure and simple.

DM has plenty of old material to release including some altered portion of old 1969 original OT VIII (it has never been released) , good enough to produce some wins but booby trapped as well to make sure that the New “OT” IX and Xners are kept pinned to their bodies.
You also have some version of the original OT levels which are unknown to most of the still-ins. Even though they might be workable , altering them by the introduction of arbitraries will get you wins but cause as well a Bypassed charge phenomena that will it make it necessary for the “OT” to “handle” it on the “next” level and so on , on a “you ‘must’ do your next level” basis.

Before I was run over by the out of control bus called Scientology, I was happily ( sort of ) soloing on OT7 and every now and then they would roll out an OT 9 &10 campaign and as part of the LA OT Committee I was involved in these “events” So I’d corner the speaker in the hall, and ask breathlessly, when those levels were being released. Never did they have a specific answer. Well, then I’d ask, have you received the materials? Are the staff being trained to deliver those levels? After some hemming and hawing, and foot dragging, the sheepish no came out.
It makes you wonder where the ethics level of the average SO member is, if they will stage these events, knowing full well, not only the dog won’t hunt, there’s no dog in the dog house, nor any sign of one on the horizon.

I understand why an OTVII who hasn’t done VIII do the new Solo course but why would anyone who’s completed OTVIII go do the Solo Auditor course now when there’s no OTIX /OTX released? They’ll have to do an update when it does (if ever) come out, and pay for the re do again!

Sadly, years ago my son was regged to do The Solo Course. I tried to tell him in a “very nice” way that he was not ready to do his OT levels so please, don’t do that now, that he’d be wasting his money. He poo pooed me and paid for it and did it. After I was declared and he had disconnected from me, mail for him came to my house. It was to inform him that his CSW to not have to pay for the Solo Course again was disapproved, but that for $4,000 he could just retrain. I warned him!
I also warned him (after I was declared and he was trying to “handle” me) that under GAT II he would be required to redo the Student Hat (He was Interned 4), and that he was going to have to trash the Mark VII Meter he bought and buy TWO of the stupid new meters. He told me that would not happen. What course did I find out my son is on right now? Student Hat.
I wonder if he has bought his two new Mark VIII Meters yet. I wonder if anywhere in his mind there is some synapse that fires to remind him of what his mother tried to warn him.

Hi McCarran, you’re right about warning your son to just wait for changes on the horizon to come first and then make the necessary purchases. I think your son will learn his lesson now that he’s gone through “the hard way.” We all had to go through a few of those when we were in and make adjustments.
I see a big difference between a young person making his/her way up The Bridge for the first time and someone who is well seasoned and OTVIII. At that point, they know how things work. When I see some of these people who’ve been around the block jumping on the bandwagon and promoting GATII with raves about their re dos, and buying two new meters to store in their closet, it makes me wonder. When I see someone like David Wilson qualifying people with “GAT II Auditor”, “GAT II Supervisor”, (which he always does), it makes me think Brown Noser!

Read closely. It’s an attempt (though very transparent) by the Int/Freewinds execs to take back all previous promises and expectations in the face of badgering OT8s snooping around and getting anxious. Take this as official as it can get. The source of this email is solid, IMO.

Several ex-victims have made public statements about OTVIII, consistent with earlier stories that many critics thought exaggerated. All detailed nicely in “LUCIFER’S BRIDGE: SCIENTOLOGY’S LOST PARADISE” by George Witek . (Classified in Amazon as ” Religion & Spirituality › Occult › UFOs ” and that’s about right…)
George lays out a case for the original OTVIII being written by LRH but replaced by something cooked up after the introduction. There was an article on this blog about the change.
So, yes, the OTVIII sold now is almost certainly not the one LRH wrote, but he did write one. (And it’s plenty weird!)
One might say that Scientology left the church when LRH did. It’s interesting to kind of speculate about two groups of Scns today, really: 1) those who walked away before 1980 and 2) those who didn’t leave until 2000 or after, even as early as 1990, and have been imbued with altered tech and policy and probably also have accumulated case of all sorts.
There was the LRH Bridge, and it did work beautifully. It still does. You have to do it right, and it is a gradient, so you have to do the whole thing (you can’t skip parts of it). But it’s hard to convince a post 1980’s Scn of that. I can tell you where that Bridge leads to, and what you have to work with when you get there, but probably very few will understand what I say. It leads to Ethics, and that is self-determinism. When you begin to operate on self-determinism within the context of eternity, above all the various societies and cultures, that’s where Ethics begins. You can see Scientology from there, and know it, so you can begin to manage your life in that context of eternity. (Being “above” agreements doesn’t mean no contact and no understanding; it means the opposite, understanding and ability to handle and be in harmony with. You don’t abandon your family and friends and education and career, you understand and work with them, integrate them, and strengthen them.)
Some who left “late” are rediscovering, on their own, that Scientology really does exist. I’m just trying to point out that the LRH Bridge is a gradient, If you’re going to walk up a hill, you have to walk up the entire hill. You can’t just magically skip part of it. It’s the simplest of notions: you don’t audit over out-rudiments, for example.
I had a lot of trouble with Key to Life. If Miscavige wrote the checksheet, that would explain why.
He didn’t. It was primarily David Phillips, Sue Koon and Phoebe Maurer. But their compilations went directly to LRH and he gave extremely detailed critiques and direction. Miscavige had nothing to do with it.
Thomas Weeks, LRH NEVER completed writing up OTVIII N E V E R. He did oversee the KTL development via RTRC & Snr C/S Office. So, KLT was LRH’s. He lied about having completed research and dev on OT VIII. He himself was never able to finish OT VII. El Con was a liar and a fraud.
I’d love to see someone do the Solo Course they are hawking, and then sue them for fraud and bait and switch. I’d do the course, give them 6 months to roll out “IX and X” and if they didn’t, it is grounds for suing for breach of promise and other things. Of course IX and X won’t be released because they don’t exist. They may make up something for IX which is one of the 3 versions of OT VIII which they’ll dust off and call OT IX. But if any of these people doing it talk to others who did VIII, they may find out what we all found out, which is that there are at least 3 versions of OT VIII, which means LRH’s OT Level was altered and squirrelled right in the church itself. Unfortunately the Church of Scientology is not a real business. If it were, It would have to provide real services in exchange for money. But since it is a “religion” and you are simply making “donations” and not paying fees for services, you cannot sue them on those grounds. Also, on the way up the bridge you keep signing legal papers stating that you are responsible for your condition and that the Church could never be liable for anything that might happen to you. When you buy a BMW you know what you are getting for your money and you get exactly what they promise. If there is the slightest problem they apologise to you and fix the problem. In the “Church” you are promised Paradise and get Hell instead and if you complain it is always your fault because they are totally irresponsible and if there is anything wrong, it is because you are PTS or out-ethics or an SP and if you make a fuss you are declared.
