Going Clear is available on Netflix.
If you have not seen this, take the time to watch it. If you haven’t watched it since it first came out a decade or so ago, it’s worth re-watching.
This documentary had massive impact on the way the world viewed Scientology. And paved the way for so much that has come since – including The Aftermath (which is available for free on Tubi).
The story that is told and how is laid out is brilliant — facts about Hubbard and Scientology and interviews are brought together to paint a devastating picture that is beyond dispute.

Very good documentary film. The cult has never even tried to put out their own message to the public. Their TV channel is 100% internal deception propaganda, with no sign that will ever change.

Tubi is regional restricted. Seems to be U.S. only,

Thanks to everyone who stands up and speaks out.

I fondly remember the premiere in Sydney – what a breakthrough that was. “We” found that suddenly, people were talking about the Kult as an organisation that urgently needed Government Intervention. “We” did get some of that but the Kult has slid slowly beneath the waves here in Oz since and now only the occasional finger appears 🙂
On a personal note, during and after appearing on stage with Sen. Nic Xenophon and Bryan Seymour for a Q & A session with the audience (which OSA’s Virginia Stewart stormed out of), I had so many strangers come up to me and express sorrow for what I’d been through that the next morning I lay in bed and cried, – the first time I’d ever been able to drop the shackles of “being a trained OT” and actually weep for my lost daughters. Cathartic is inadequate to describe the relief.

Thanks Scooter!
One of the most memorable experiences of my life was attending the premiere at Sundance Film Festival and the instant standing ovation that went on for minutes — strangers every one of them packed into the standing room only theater. It was overwhelming and humbling and when we were called to the stage by Alex and Larry it was another rousing standing O. Phew, get emotional thinking about it. That film changed people’s perception in 2 hours.

I was in Oz years ago. Scientology was banned in at least two states. The only branch (org) then was the tiny one in a small (second floor) office space in Sydney.
Just from what Mr. Rinder posts in Thursday Funnies, I see that they have several others now. They may all be tiny, have very few members, but they are there now, so it is not a great thing.

What a great documentary. I will definitely watch it again. I was always so shocked about what happened with Marty but after watching the behavior of some of the EXs this past year, they don’t seem too far off from Marty. I hope you and your family are doing well Mike. I know going through treatment sucks but I also know you are very strong.
Mike Rinder says
Yes it would be wonderful if that version of Marty was still alive…

I imagine it’s disappointing seeing Marty Rathbun as such a big part of the doc knowing how things turned out for him…
Mike Rinder says
Of course. Wish that version of Marty was still around…

Devastating is the word that best describes it.
In Italy, it came out almost ten years ago. It has opened a breach in the truth about scny. It will be good to see it again.
To miscavige’s delight.
