With a lot of talk and emails and hype, the yellow shirts of the largest relief force on earth have not shown up on the radar in response to Hurricane Harvey.
Here is the latest from the bubble. The first promotional item from the CO CLO WUS announces that there are less than 400 VM’s (out of the 200,000 they claim to have) who have arrived to help with Hurricane Harvey.
And of course that number of 400 is massively inflated — but it is the HIGHEST it could possibly be (scientology math is something from another dimension… 12 Million scientologists, 200,000 VMs etc etc). You will note the photos show a handful of VM’s.
Gosh, 400 is only 1 in 500 of their claimed VMs for this, the largest natural catastrophe in US history in terms of numbers affected. That those who have showed up are good people with good intentions is not in question. Despite their often misplaced ideas of what constitutes help in such circumstances, it is commendable they are there at all. I am not, so have no room to be critical of their effort and sacrifice. My point from the outset is that this will be a test of the lies they tell the world about their amazing, massive, deployed at the drop of a hat private relief force.
She also discloses that the IAS is paying for the flights to get people to Texas and their “expenses.” This tells you how desperate they are to make a good showing out of this to be able to promote it in the future. The IAS does not normally cover this expense, they appear to have been shamed into taking this unusual step. Scientology is reacting to the exposure of their BS, knowing there is more exposure coming. I have often said the only thing that will ever bring about any change in scientology is outside pressure and exposure and this would seem to be another example of that.
Next is a Facebook message:
This is a chilling window into the mindset of a scientologist.
The authorities and officials are clueless — they need us before they can REALLY do anything. Unbelievably, this IS what scientologists think.
Hey guys! We tried to get gas today and the station was out. I also just read another post about someone not able to find gas. This madness needs to stop. This is what I’m sharing on my own FB page:
Austin friends! STOP THE GAS HOARDING!
I am working with my church to deploy hundreds to Houston, Rockport and other affected areas as are many other organizations. Please spread the word to stop the gas hoarding. The volunteers are the ones who really NEED the gas!
If you must, take the bus, the train or walk. These heroes MUST be deployed to the areas that need them most and must not be stopped by a run on the gas here.
Please spread the word. Thank you!
And a final note on the VM’s. You may be aware that there were large and very dangerous fires near Burbank over the last few days. Hundreds of homes were evacuated. Ash falling from the sky all over the Valley. Including the largest ideal org on earth, located 10 minutes from the disaster zone. I happened to be in the area yesterday and swung by the org to check out what they were doing to muster the VMs for this.
As always the main parking lot of the org was completely empty.
And look what was sitting in the small parking lot… What, no VMs were even USING the van? It was sitting there being covered with ash. They didn’t even have 5 VMs they needed to transport to the scene?
Once again, I call BS on their claims about Valley ideal org and their claims about 200,000 VM’s.
Tonight’s Show
In addition to the regular episodes of The Aftermath, we have shot a number of “specials” focusing on different aspects of scientology, especially ones we get most questions about.
A&E intersperses these throughout the season. I do not know when they will be or why they choose to air them when they do. The first is tonight – focused on the Bridge. I suspect A&E thought it might be good to take a bit of a breather after the first three episodes which have not been easy viewing (and there are more coming).
For ex-scientologists, you will likely not find a whole lot of new information. We try to explain things in a way that non-Scientologists will understand. But you might find some of the perspective she interesting.
I will put up the usual post tonight after the show airs so you can leave your thoughts and comments.

I was a VM for 8 years or so before i left and I paid for all my own flights and everything else ! we did help in many ways with digging people out of mud and fallen building some people where deceased which was very sad plus cutting back trees clearing roads etc we were there as we wanted to help ! this was along side the SES , Red Cross and all other volunteers ,so about time CLO and COB put their money in its like ” put your money where your mouth is ” i traveled from Australia to the USA and Indonesia after each disaster believing we were helping but behind the scene other members were trying to recruit (WTF) ….
On another note …..
with the Hurricanes coming though i have a mental picture of all the OTs sitting around and putting their OT abilities together ( or singing Come by yarr me lord come by yarr) and making the Hurricanes go around them!
They believe they can do this control their surrounding trust me i was called and ask to do this ….. it looks like this time someone wasn’t putting their full effort in !!!
Joking aside i hope everyone gets to safe ground and the storms pass quickly and remember the animals they need your help too.

Down Florida way, home of Scientology’s mecca, I have yet to read/hear of the thousands of VMs organizing and directing the evacuation and disaster relief efforts. Their TV station should be transmitting directions for the evacuations, shelter locations, and where to obtain water, gasoline, food, and shelter.
After all, Scientologists are the only ones who can help. I know it’s true because Ton Cruise said it on TV.

And with so much area under water and on the coastline, some of those ‘naval’ ships could certainly be an asset, right? Hmmm?

Noah, what is your question to me?
Ann Marie Beacock says
Mike, I am not new to the awareness of Scientology, but I am new to the revelations via Leah’s A&E program. I have been following it with great interest.
Back in the early 70’s, I was living on my own in Toronto, Ontario, Canada and walking along Young Street looking for a teapot for my new apartment. One of the store fronts was a Dianetics location and they had teapots on display, so in I went. From the moment I entered the ‘store’, I was besieged by 2 ‘sales’ persons asking me questions, that frankly made me uncomfortable. They were more interested in selling the idea of Dianetics than they were in selling me the teapot I wanted. Now I was well brought up. I let them ramble on, listening to what they were saying, but not really connecting to their verbiage in my head as my ‘spiritual’ beliefs were already well entrenched. No one could convince me that religion was based on science. Religion pre-dates science by millions of years. Suffice to say, I bought a teapot, but not the book! I think what really made me walk away was something my father had taught me years before. My father was a salesman……..a VERY good salesman. The first maxim he taught me was: Never be the sales person who goes for the hard sell. The level of the hardsell is a bona fide indicator of the level of the bull shit behind the product. Throughout the ensuing years, I have been in all kinds of sales and very successful at it because I always remembered and applied that one simple maxim. Leah’s program has only gone on to prove to me once again, that my father was right! Keep up the revelations Mike and thanks for the opportunity to express myself.

There is so much grist here for comments, but all I can say is this. They have the F-ing nerve to FLY INTO A DISASTER ZONE WHERE OIL REFINERIES ARE CLOSED DOWN AND GAS IS SCARCE, AND TELL THE VICTIMS WHO LIVE THERE TO WALK OR TAKE THE F-ING BUS SO THEY CAN HAVE THE GAS? I apologize for yelling.
Bea Grateful says
I hope they do. That will further prove what they really are. So sad for the members who truly want to help though. Hopefully this will open their eyes and make them question more what exactly it is they are involved in. A money grabbing cult.
CS says
Where were they before? Is the Houston org under water? Churches, mosques and temples opening to take in flood refugees. Even Mattress Macks furniture store(s) opening to take in those who lost everything in the flood. Joel Osteen’s church, Lakewood church (which Newsweek says is one of the largest in the US) has taken a PR shellacking for being closed. Where was/is the co$ of Houston? Why no pics?
I mean if it’s under water, what better way to help get some more $$$ out of those that remain. Or why not show co$ being a command post there, taking in people, giving them food, shelter, assists, with the org interior as the background.
Austin’s great and all — but where is Houston?
Todd Cray says
I just did a quick review of what’s been posted in the media online about “scientology” and “Texas” over the last week.
I found about 10 articles discussing VM activities in TX. Tellingly, 9 of these were scientology “news wire” articles. I.e. infomercials that the cult hopes will be picked up by other web sites starved for ready-made “news” articles to go with their advertisements.
The 10th was actually on the web site of a small TV station. Alas, even that one–a reprint of one of the cult’s “press releases”–carried a lengthy disclaimer that the “article” relied on content provided by a third party (the “church”), had not been vetted and that therefore, the TV station did not endorse its content. In other words, they weren’t sure whether they believed the “article,” couldn’t be bothered to fact check it but reprinted it anyway.
One would expect that a contingent of 400 (or even 100) “relief workers”–“heroes” no less–in bright yellow shirts would be noticed by someone in the notoriously news-starved media. Even just for acting weird…
Balletlady says
After seeing a stack of those folded VM “yellow shirts” …..I am thinking that ANY one who volunteers is going to be “offered” one of the yellow shirts & THEN…the perfect photo op to say “LOOK HOW MANY VM”S…..
Diane says
Bravo for exposing the Church’s nonsense PR campaign in reference to Hurricane Harvey. They cant even deploy 100 people to the disaster areas, which shows how truly inept this group is.
Secondly, how dare the Church be critical of the men and women who DID step up and DID make their way to Texas to help so many in need? To state, “We are the only ones who can really help” is not just arrogant, is belittling to the men and women who jumped in their cars and boats, despite personal danger, to save other people’s lives.
What assholes.
Noah_Fear says
This is what I’m trying to explain to my ex-wife and step-daughter while we watch the show. The average “parishioner” (if that’s what they’re called in Scientology) aren’t bad or evil or sick, they genuinely feel that what they are doing is good and righteous. All they know is what the church tells them, and in good faith toward their church, they believe it obviously. So, i completely agree with you Mike, when you say, “Hey, these volunteers are there out of genuine concern for the well being of the people affected”. It’s not their fault that they don’t know that “the tech” really isn’t going to do ANYTHING. They’ve been told and shown this “tech” working wonders. So, more than anything, I feel so bad for these people who are obviously decent people or they wouldn’t volunteer to go and offer help in a disaster relief effort. Now, if these VM’s are ones who DO know it’s all a load of crap and are out there simply for PR purposes, those are the sick ones that should be treated as the vile and evil bastards.
Teen says
“Hey, these volunteers are there out of genuine concern for the well being of the people affected”
I’d really like to believe this…I really would….just having a hard time accepting this as their (volunteer’s) motivation. Awful to say and I have been struggling with seeing through my “skeptical lens” versus “innate kindness of humanity”. Trying not to judge those who went as I sit here and just send money. I can’t help wondering how many of them went under duress. I suppose it doesn’t matter what the motivation to go is…just as long as they’re helping. Nothing about this cult surprises me anymore.
Noah_Fear says
Sounds like you and I are viewing all of this from the same fence. I had at first only thought of the members who’ve had their mandatory blinders on and truly feel that they’re there to help. You bring up an excellent point though, that many more members may be there “under duress”. Either way, I hope that at least ONE (hopefully many more) will get there and say, “Hey, what’s the deal? Where is all of our amazing/expensive ‘tech’, or the thousands of other members who must live either in Houston or in close vicinity?”, because they’ve heard from the church that the number in the area is in the tens of thousands probably. And it’s strange for me to be concerned for the brainwashed few who may be there, and hoping they’ll have a ‘light bulb moment’, when really, all of my concern should be for the hurricane victims.
Aquamarine says
When I was in I knew a number of people I could say were genuine in their desire to help others. It was obvious to me that they enjoyed helping people. Helping people can actually be fun. But at some point in adulthood I believe one must cease the automatic swallowing of what one is told and start asking questions, even if these questions merely reaffirm the truth of what one has been told is true. Think, ask, fact check. Are you religious? If so, why would God get angry if one does this? After all, God gave us our minds, right? Ok, then use them. Ask questions. Find out for yourself. God can handle it and one makes better life decisions this way. End of rant.

It bumps up the numbers. It is what was theorized was happening to “Dianetics” to keep it on the top of the NY Times Best Seller lists for so long. Bookstores would stock Dianetics, there would be a lot of purchases, those books would go back to co$ who would use them to fulfill new purchase orders. And the cycle would begin again, all the while the numbers kept ticking up.

If Irma hits south Florida with any punch we’ll have to see what response the VM’s can muster. Would Davey pull all the resources from Houston & LA to the Clearwater area,or is there enough yellow shirted bodies to go around? Would they be housed at Flag or one of the Scientology hotels and at Davey’s cost or would they have to rely on donations to get by? Would they only take care of Scientology properties or help the wogs also?
Ahh the plot thickens

Mike, this is such proof that DM and his OSA not only read your blog but that they change direction based on what you and your readers say. We have shamed them over the IAS never paying for VMs to answer the call, so now they are paying. You have made a lot of changes in the church just by having your blog. Now they don’t demand abortions any more like they used to. Keep doing what you’re doing. Maybe they’ll change disconnection one of these days. (Well, we can hope…)

Scientology, do yourself, and everyone else who are trying to lift themselves up after Harvey, a huge favor and just stay home. You are just standing in the way of real help.
Your “tech” is bullshit, and you know this deep down inside.
If the victims of Harvey knew you secretly refer to them as “fresh meat”, how do you think they would react.
Scientology is just so disgusting to the general public at large. You have failed, big time, Miscavige and crew.

I can at least wonder what resources they are bringing into the area and what shelter they have arranged.

So what do they pay for?

Yo Dave,
Opportunities abound good buddy. You have spare vans all over the place and You must have lots of back up volunteers since only a very few of the 200,000 have shown up. So Back to the opportunities Dave.
You could (just sayin) bust open those IAS vaults and get some major disaster relief contributions on the way for starters. But the big deal is that with Irma heading toward Flog, now is the time to get yer volunteers in place with the needed supplies ahead of the pending wind and rain. Don’t wait until after there is a problem Dave, get out in front of it for a change.
Plus, You guys can predict the future and all that wonderful stuff! Why not fly all of yer Ohh Tea Super Humans with the Super Powerz out to Flog for a Hurricane Abatement convention and steer that storm north and save the world Dave??? Show us that yer shit really works Dave.
And now with another storm brewing in the Atlantic, Jose I think it is, You will have even more chances to show the world how wonderful You really are. Your twenty or so VMs in Houston for Harvey, some more I expect taking photo ops at the LA fire, Irma approaching (say another 25 or so there) and that leaves about 199,950 or so as back up to handle whatever Jose brings.
You have things well in hand Dave plus lots of footage for the IAS event and New Years event as well. The Emmys should also be great this year featuring all that warm and fuzzy news about Yer Cult. So there you have it, opportunities all over the place Dave!

Interestingly, the cult’s “all hands” call for $cilons to go to Texas and provide disaster relief includes an only slightly inflated total of the number of yellow-shirted cherch volunteers on the ground currently. Seems like someone tiny and volatile has become aware of just closely his faux cherch’s relief efforts are being scrutinized and reported on, doesn’t it?
“ ‘The authorities and officials are good people. They are doing everything they can. But they don’t have our tech. Yet.’ This is a chilling window into the mindset of a scientologist.
The authorities and officials are clueless — they need us before they can REALLY do anything. Unbelievably, this IS what scientologists think.”
Delusional clam claims like that one just beg the question: So, in this particular disaster, what cult tech do the VMs on the ground in Texas have, which will enable them to do a better job than, say, the Red Cross, or the volunteer Cajun navy? Plus, if they’ve already got it, then why not use it!!?
I don’t pretend to be an authority on what these VMs are actually allowed to deliver in the way of $cn tech assistance. But it appears to be limited to the super creepy touch assist tent, where clam volunteers have been rumored to be kidnapping unaccompanied children and smuggling them out to $ea Org centers, where they’re put to work like the “big thetans in small bodies” that they truly are (just joking about the kidnapping part… the cult actually pays full black market prices for these new “cadets” )
Komodo Dragon says
Well good to see that the IAS is finally paying for something..LMAO
PeaceMaker says
I’ve now seen two versions of the bright yellow PR piece for Harvey. One, misleadingly, has a line just saying “400 on the ground,” but that’s underneath the “Needed in Texas” heading – 400 is presumably their new goal, after originally claiming they were going to bring in “thousands” (which they still refer to in places, like their Facebook pages). That’s typical of what I’ve seen of how they misrepresent things through context, avoiding direct falsehoods (like children who discover the trick of deceptive wordplay, but have enough conscience to avoid explicitly lying) and it’s even possible that a different person in Scientology revised the first piece and was themselves mislead by the implication of the 400 number, turning it into a statement of fact.
A Facebook post was reposted at the Underground Bunker yesterday, in which one of Scientology’s logistics coordinators said that the actual count of VMs on the ground was 226 – and that includes locals from places like Austin, who might account for half of that total, and likely also counts people who are just back in Austin or other safe areas doing things like stuffing the toiletry bags they’re distributing: http://disq.us/p/1lx9p6g
If that post was a bit out of date, it’s possible that they peaked at 400 as people came from places like Clearwater to do a bit of drop-in charity work and get a photo opportunity over the long weekend. Discussions were revealed, that Scientologists really were planning to do the 1,000 mile drive each way from Florida, just for the weekend – probably spending more time driving, than “on the ground” actually helping – apparently too consumed with other things to stay any longer.
A couple of us have been keeping an eye on postings to social media, and Scientology has only posted pictures or videos showing about 3 dozen people actually in disaster areas doing hands-on work, and most of those appeared to be of light cleanup in areas that didn’t get much water and were already dry – it’s possible that they’re not even being allowed into harder-hit areas since they’re not with a legitimate disaster response organization. One picture even showed a flag with a Scientology cross planted at the door to a rather high-end home that volunteers were cleaning out – possibly even the home of a well-off Scientologist if not a “whale.”
The other problem with the volunteers, even if they’re well-intentioned, is that Scientology is positioning itself as a real relief force, in its typical arrogant amateurism that their “tech” makes them more able to “really help” than even experts and professionals, but sending out all these people untrained and unprepared, and apparently also without prior coordination with officials on the ground as the real aid groups do. Scientologists have apparently been getting food from the canteen truck kitchens run by the Salvation Army – an example of an organization that shows up prepared to really help.
Cindy says
Rich. So now they Scn volunteers are eating food that was meant for the victims. Typical.
Valerie says

I wish I could get my ex (still a public Scn die-hard) to be aware of this info, but he isn’t one to surf the internet, do FB, etc. He is totally attracted to conspiracy theories presented by Rush Limbaugh and the like. If he would get out of his COS bubble, he would totally jump on board…and even enjoy the real conspiracy of COS. How can we (his daughters and I) become aware of all this?
thegman77 says
Mike, you and Leah must be driving Miscavige even more insane than he already is! The alcohol intake is undoubtedly prodigious. Everything he claims is being exposed as lies. I noted on Tony’s blog this morning that another educational sneak drug program in Missouri has been exposed as a scio operation and immediately rejected publicly.
So many thanks for all you and Leah are doing.
thegman77 says
Though it might have been noted elsewhere, I spotted the most recent issue of People Magazine has a cover story on Leah and a great interview. I normally don’t buy it, but did this time. Another serious blow to Miscavige’s mental prison and it goes internationally! http://people.com/celebrity/
Gravitysucks says
I bought one!!
Aquamarine says
Thanks for the heads up, thegman77. Not a mag I usually read but I’ll have my copy tonite for sure!
Chris McTarsney says
We should all buy a People magazine and support Mike’s and Leah’s efforts to get the word out. Maybe then, Mike will get a cover!
Aquamarine says
Yes, I want Mike on the cover of People. I bought my copy last night. Leah looks so beautiful, and the article packs a huge punch!
Roger Y says
How come I haven’t heard any other organizations (Red Cross etc) mentioning gas hoarding slowing down their relief efforts?
jimpjorps says
Because other organizations aren’t a bunch of unorganized, undirected “parishoners” getting flown into a disaster zone and being required to compete with victims for scarce resources on their own dime.
jim says
Roger,
Because: PPPPPP
PPPPPP is an old military anachronism for Prior Planning Prevents Piss Poor Performance. The BMs and their cherch are knee-jerk stimulus-response mechanisms of dinky davie. QED
PeaceMaker says
Roger, I see it’s already been commented that this contrasts Scientology’s VMs with real, prepared and experience relief organizations. On the specific point, I’m sure that those organizations have plans and means in place to get gasoline supplies in disaster areas, though I don’t know if they have their own tankers or have other arrangements set up. I’ll bet Scientology’s VM vans don’t even have extra reserve tanks installed in them to extend their range, as they should.

I’m looking forward to tonight’s program. As a never-in, I like it when things are explained so that a non-Scientologist can understand. My wife and I began watching “The Handmaid’s Tale” on Friday, got instantly hooked, but I keep looking at Elisabeth Moss, wondering if any of the script is ringing a bell. How can you remain in Scientology after a role like this?
Marie says
I had to stop watching HT when I discovered Moss was a scientologist. I just could not continue. There is not much I can do to protest this cult….

I want to protest at my local cult center but I was warned it could affect my job and plus that I can’t get anyone to go with me☹️

It’s the little things I hope that help!

I’m doing the same, Marie, but I also fired off letters to public officials. I live near Gold Base (25 miles) so I also wrote my Riverside county’s representative/councilmen. I have yet to receive a response…. I’m not one for picketing and believe this would be used against us (as a hate crime or some such nonsense) so I just work behind the scenes and express my concerns.
Gloria Anima says
Did not know Moss was a scientologist or I would not have watched. I am personally boycotting all actors I learn are in this vicious cult and are using parishioners as cheap labor. Sickening really sickening.
Mary Beth Wylie says
Right? The first time I heard Elizabeth Moss was a Scientologist I was floored! I am truly amazed that she can not connect the dots. Or maybe she has and is afraid of what will happen to her if she does leave the church. It would be like a Scientologist being cast in “The Path” and making a pro church public statement. It doesn’t make sense.
Aquamarine says
“I am truly amazed that she can not connect the dots. Or maybe she has and is afraid of what will happen to her if she does leave the church.”
Shrewd assumption. These celebs have to know. They’re surrounded with people – their support networks can’t all be Scientologists, and these people are savvy and up to date on what’s going on. So, the celebs know, alright. And they are afraid of going up against the cult, getting a public smearing, a hate sight in their name, sure.
My take is they’re waiting. Keeping their heads down, making no waves. Waiting for it all to be over, at which point they’ll be able to say, “OMG, I had no idea this sort of thing was going on!”
I’m thinking that this is the “handling” being advised by their attorneys. Just to quietly withdraw, make no waves, no statements about the cult for or against, and wait, while it circles the drain.
Aquamarine says
And I’d add, to my hunch about these celeb being advised by their attorneys NOT to go the Leah Remini/Don Quixote route, that their attorneys are also advising them that once the cult is officially kaput, or at some future time when a the cult is in so much known, public trouble that a safe point has been reached, THEN they can sue the cherch, bigly.
Aquamarine says
Groan: typos! “…or at some future time when the cult is in so much known, public, trouble…”.
Harpoona Frittata says
“My take is they’re waiting. Keeping their heads down, making no waves. Waiting for it all to be over, at which point they’ll be able to say, ‘OMG, I had no idea this sort of thing was going on!’”
Mine too. I’ve just got one question for TC, JT, Krusty and the rest of cult celeb crew: Can you say, “Good German?”
Harpoona Frittata says
Ken, the simplest answer there may be that she’s a 2nd gen cultist, with family members who are still trapped in the cult. So any misstep as a major celeb could very easily get both her and her entire family in trouble with the cult’s thought police enforcement unit, with the threat of expulsion and the very real fear of forced disconnection always lurking in the back of her mind.
The ever-present threat of having the cult mess with your relationship to your still-in family members is a very strong inducement to remain silent about whatever doubts or disagreements with the cherch that you might have. So, I’m not at all surprised to see her making weak gestures of support for the cherch (like walking out of the room when Leah received her award), but I wouldn’t necessarily take that as a sign of her actual feelings about the cult — especially after starring in a dystopian fictional drama that very closely parallels the cherch’s actual history of interfering with cult members’ private reproductive rights, through forced abortion and the banning of child rearing in the $ea Org.
Ms. Moss is going to wake up (if she hasn’t already) and get herself and her whole family out of that Xenu-forsaken, family-destroyin’, child abusin’, predatory fraud scam some day soon, I just know it!
Right about now, Ms. Moss, TC, JT, Krusty and the rest of the cult’s celeb petting zoo could be real heroes by showing some courage and standing up for what’s right against the cult’s tiny tyrant, then demanding reform and transparency. But, in another minute or two, they’re all going to be the $cilon equivalent of Good Germans, when the cult finally collapses under the weight of its crimes, abuses and sheer self-destructive idiocy, while they were all continuing to practice their best “Run and Hide” tech!
OverTheBridgeTPA says
Good Morning Mike. I figured that now is as good as any time….I do not know if you are in Clearwater right now…but Please be advised that Hurricane Irma has strengthened to a Cat 5 in the Caribbean…..we are definitely going to be getting some major effects from it. My family and I may be taking off…going North. Do your preparations ASAP.
On another note…looking forward to tonight’s episode.
You do great work my friend!!!! Be safe!!!!
Yours…. OverTheBridgeTPA
PS….If the VMs ever showed up in my neighborhood….I would advise them about a certain TV show they need to check out…..and then politely (lol) ask them to leave.
Marie says
You guys! What does VM stand for again?
Susan says
yes! I think we need a translation dictionary of all the terms used in these blogs. CL CLO WUS?????
Barbara Carr says
Hiya folks. Just Google scientology terms and it’ll show you more than one site so you can be in with the in-crowd. Good luck.
KatherineINCali says
Don’t know what the first “CL” is for, but I believe CLO WUS stands for Continental Liaison Office Western United States.
Ruby says
I know! Their terminology is crazy! In the first paragraph of the email above it mentions “Volunteer Ministers”. I’m assuming that’s what VM means. I feel so conflicted about Scientologists. On one hand I’m terrified of them, and on the other hand, I feel so sorry for them for not being able to see all of the damage and destruction that Leah and Mike are showing us.
Aquamarine says
CO CLO WUS means “Commanding Officer Continental Liason Office Western United States”/ Cult middle management for the west coast orgs. There’s a CLO for the east coast orgs also.
Dan says
I was pretty close! Damn the amount of shorthand you all learned is remarkable

I think CLO is the “continental Liaison officer” and I believe the WUS stands for the western United States. (I looked up a guide to the their shorthand a long time ago when I started learning about the cult.) The VM he is referring to is vol. ministers.
Eh=Eh says
Marie it’s Volunteer Minister
Gravitysucks says
Volunteer Ministers
bo says
VM stands for volunteer minister
Spike says
Marie – VM is short for Volunteer Minister.
Aquamarine says
VM means Volunteer Minister.
skinnyvinnysmom says
VM=Volunteer Minister
KatherineINCali says
VM = Volunteer Ministers
It’s the cult’s so-called disaster relief team. They always exploit natural disasters (or whatever may be happening) for their own ends. The true goal of the VMs is to try to recruit people into $cientology by handing out useless pamphlets (like The Way To Happiness) and trying to give creepy “touch assists”, etc.
gtsix says
VM = Volunteer Minister.
CLO WUS = Continental Liaison Office, Western United States
