Well, according to this promo piece, the answer is 200.
And after being in business now for more than 50 years, Perth apparently has accumulated 40 staff (though I suspect the 10 pictured are “going to be” on staff and at least 15 of the 30 others are VERY part-time…)
But even that is only 1/5th of the complement to be ideal. And they are going to make it “this year.” Scientology math at its best: we made it 20% of the way in 50 years. The remaining 80% is going to be done in the next few months. How? Pure intention salted heavily with bs and lies.
Perth should be rolling around as “ideal” right about the time those aerial porkers are trotting down the runway and heading for the clouds.
Of course, everyone knows the trick of how they “man” these ideal orgs:
- They promise people high pay, full time training, daily massages and super OT powers. They tell them literally anything to get them to sign. After a couple of weeks they leave again.
- They bring in staff from other orgs — usually they are stolen from some training pool. Back in the old days trainees from other orgs would be rounded up at Flag and shipped to the latest “ideal org” and told to “replace themselves”
- They send Sea Org members to man posts
- They pretend they have staff by counting volunteers from the OT Committee who help out in CF because they are too smart to join staff
- Just claim there are staff that don’t exist
Of course, none of this works. Not only are these “ideal” orgs ALL empty of public, they are also empty of staff. They couldn’t round up enough staff to occupy each room in these buildings. There are many rooms that never see anyone in them at all.
Good luck Perth. You’re going to need it!
And just a final note. That “6th ideal org in ANZO” includes Tokyo and Taiwan. This is 6 orgs for half the population of the planet!
“Planetary clearing is being made a reality”… yeah, sure thing.

Loved your “1-5” as re the actual staff scene, Mike. I LOL’d; you nailed it!
Thank God, the Supreme Being, Jesus, Moses, Buddha, Vishnu, Xenu and the Angel Over My Shoulder that in all my years in I never signed a staff contract! Came perilously close TWICE. Long story but thank you, thank you, thank you – they never got me despite all the guilt I carried around about it, and despite the money I donated to assuage that guilt that I couldn’t afford, thank you! They never got me. That I didn’t ever sign is HIGH on my gratitude list.

On a side note: I see that self serving, and centred, $camology shill Joy Villa is at it again, this time at the Grammy’s. The three papers that have I looked at that said anything about her and that dress strangely haven’t mentioned her ties to $camology. I expect Dorkenstein Monsterpompadour will try and find some way to use it to gouge more money out the shrinking sheepbots.

She isn’t running for anything yet. If she does run for office , expect that her ties to a cult, which in the minds of most Americans is at best Tom Cruise”s space opera religion, and, at worst, a ruthless, greedy, litigious cult which splits up families – expect her ties to this cherch to be aired and hashed over by the press – exposed, hashed and rehashed again and again. Because this is the press, and this is what they do. Thank God.
And in return, expect the cherch to whine even more about “religious bigotry” and similar bullshit. Waaa waaaa waaa.
Can’t wait. Hope she runs, I really do. She’s just another embarrassment for the Trump-Ass-Kiissing Republicans and the cowardly LEADERS and SPOKESPEOPLE of the Religious Right.
(Please note that I said “LEADERS and SPOKESPEOPLE of the Religious Right, which EXCLUDES all those decent, heads on straight RR’s who HATE Co$ and want it abolished. Some of whom read and post here, God bless.)

How many people are in the Sea Org today? With Scientology public dwindling, one imagines Sea Org membership are as well. Do they have enough Sea Org members to send to orgs that can’t staff themselves while still staffing all Sea Org facilities adequately?

Aquamarine says
Don’t worry, mirror, as soon as these oldsters can’t work anymore the’ll be fitness-boarded. The cult will offload them.
Your prayers should go to hoping the oldies have some resources or some family ready, willing and able to take them in when they’re too old or infirm to work.
Or else they’ll end up in a Medicaid-funded nursing home. You know, the those facilities we pay for with our taxes for the benefit of people whose children can’t spare a bedroom for their elderly mother or father , those facilities that were all the idea of Those Evil Democrats to house, feed and care for indigent, elderly, disabled Americans.
A Medicaid funded nursing home is not the best place to be spending one’s twilight years, certainly, but it sure beats being homeless and hungry, IMHO.

Aqua At 82 years old my mother began to suffer with Alzheimers that left her in a deeper and deeper fog, she lost the ability to walk, to hold her urine and feces, could not feed herself & she mentally disconnected from reality & near the end unable to recognize family.
My mother had been a totally independent self sufficient woman before the Alzheimer’s ordeal came to pass. She lived in her own apartment, drove her own car, paid bills on her own & went shopping & socializing & to the Dr.s on her own. Never needed help with anything & was proud to be on her own to live her own life.
At 82 “it began”… it started with her having huge panic attacks, the fear of being alone even for a minute, & the feeling of “someone was after (chasing) her. She lived 2 1/2 hours away from me & it meant I had to leave my job & home suddenly without warning to drive to her apartment to comfort her. She outright refused to move in with me or live near me, she wanted to continue to live where she was. Finally the apartment management SAID “she is a problem & can’t live here anymore”….so I moved her in with us.
I had her at home for several months, but since I had to work, & her illness became worse. She would not let me out of her sight, even to use the bathroom, take a shower, or take the dog out for a walk. I had to go to work & she’d have major breakdowns & panic attacks. At night, she’d be up walking around, not knowing where she was or what she was doing. After several visits to her Dr’s…they determined that she could NOT be left alone in the home, the Dr. placed her in a nursing home.
YES, we had the extra bedroom she needed, she was well fed & cared for while here, but she could not be left alone. Having someone “come in ” to care for her was a major task…they can only be here for so many hours IN HOME care…at night basically she was my responsibility & I had to get up when she wandered around not knowing what she was doing. I STILL had to go to work the next day with little to no sleep.
It was the most heartbreaking decision….yet I did NOT make it, it was done for me for HER benefit. She got the care she needed 24/7 & was very happy to be surrounded by people her own age with whom she had a lot in common from days gone by, with entertainment during the day crafts, making small meals, watching DVD ‘s, children coming in to sing for them, adult groups coming in to entertain them with music and song birthday parties, St Patty’s Day, Holiday parties, really good food & plenty of it.
As far as the government paying her bill…..the Nursing Home TOOK around $50,000 of her savings before she “qualified for assistance”…..so much for that, she was allowed to keep $2000 in her bank acct.
The first week there was the hardest, she was “angry at me” for “putting her there”….yet AFTER that week when I visited her she asked me “You are NOT taking me OUT of here are you, I LOVE it here, I have so many friends & things to do”…..She spent 6 1/2 years there & was loved by all..mom passed away under their care in her sleep……..Nursing Homes for some are the ONLY way to protect someone from themselves……..at times we have no other choice.
Aquamarine says
BL, I hear you on everything. Taking care of someone with Alzheimers is a full time job and a huge responsibility even for someone trained to do it. Elder care can be as complicated as peoples’ health and abilities vary in the aging process. There’s much more to eldercare than just having a spare bedroom. I dashed off my words in a hurry and obviously misspoke.
My post was NOT intended to be pejorative of anyone except THOSE WHO WOULD DO AWAY WITH THESE MEDICAID FUNDED NURSING HOMES FOR AMERICANS.
Along with preserving the environment and developing and for the time being subsidizing new clean and green energy tech to help Earth sustain life, and along with helping to feed and educate poor kids who otherwise would have NO chance in life, Im fine with paying taxes for such programs helping people who would otherwise be dying in the streets, as one sees in 3rd World countries.
This is what makes us civilized, IMHO, something more than “might makes right” . As a country, we help the truly needy and unfortunate. Emma Lazarus said it well. This is has always made America great.
Thank you for sharing your experience with me about your mother when she became incapacitated. You loved her and did what was right for her. We’re all different, no matter our ages. You knew your mother and what she not only needed but wanted. You knew what would make her physically, mentally and emotionally happy, and you did it, and you were right!
Balletlady says
Dear Aqua,
Thank you for your feedback. Indeed it was a most difficult thing to do, one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. When my dearest favorite Uncle needed extended care, the Dr placed him in at first the Nursing section of the Nursing Home & then Assisted Living area of the Nursing Home where he “never wanted to be” after being released from the hospital….he had terminal brain cancer. I went to visit him that night in tears, crying about how I knew he didn’t want to be there. HE COMFORTED ME by saying “he knew he needed care no one else could give him & he understood & was fine with everything”…..Wow, that took so much guilt away from me. He received the care, compassion & love he needed from the Nursing Home Staff who took excellent care of him until he passed away in his sleep as they did my own mother years later.
Yes, I hear you 100%, while visiting each family member, while walking by the elderly who were in wheelchairs sitting in the “rotunda” by the Nurse’s Station, my hand was grabbed numerous times by elderly folks I did not know, elderly folks LOOKING for someone to smile at them, speak to them, give them even a bit of attention as their family members had all but abandoned them. I was happy to give them a smile, a small gentle hug, a kind word which they literally “ate up”. My mother’s room mate of 10 months had family visit her only two times….each time I visited my mother, with nurse’s permission, I’d bring her a piece of fresh fruit or a yogurt parfait like I’d brought for my mother, she was more than thankful & smiled always.
As I stated before, ALL of my mother’s bank account savings, savings bonds etc were taken by the Nursing Home…more than $50,000 actually, & only AFTER all that money was gone was she eligible for “Medicare Benefits”…..she was permitted to keep at that time it was $2,500 in her savings account AND she could “keep $45 a month from her Social Security Ck” every month for “personal expenses”….that was IT. Anything else I paid out of pocket that she might like to have.
Despite many having “that extra bedroom” some people just cannot mentally, emotionally or physically handle their incapacitated parent. Some of those same elderly who DO live at the home of their adult child end up being physically assaulted or physically & emotionally neglected by their family members.
Take into account that it’s not easy to move “dead weight” from a bed to a wheelchair, to a bathroom many times a day, nor is it easy to change the diapers of an adult who might out weigh you & needs their body position changed every few hours to prevent body sores. As I mentioned….so called “home care”, having someone come in to help…Medicare only pays for a few short hours, out of pocket expenses are large.
I am happy that I’ve managed to explain the scenario to those who are unaware….some elderly “released to Nursing Homes from COS” will fare MUCH BETTER AWAY from any care COS might offer them.

In C/S Series 1, Hubbard makes a strong point against ‘going on hoping’. That’s mostly what Scientologists are doing. It must be extremely discouraging and exhausting to continue the charade, when all the evidence points to the futility of your efforts.

Way back in my day, (80s’ish) Perth & Brisbane Orgs were pretty much neck and neck with about the same amount of people – just a handful but with BIG intentions hammered in by management. I did twin up for awhile with an guy that eventually became a CL8 for Brisbane. He didn’t make an iota of difference when he went back from what I heard. One thing you have to appreciate about Scientology organisational skills – they present a constant.
Over the time I’ve been associated with this blog the one educational theme that has shone through with clarity is that Scientology Policy DOES NOT WORK no matter how enticing or logical it may appear from within the bubble. The weak of mind stick to it like glue and the know it all ao’s play it like a stacked deck.
The criminality of the Cof$ is the only thing they have going for it. They deal wholly in lies and treachery. As long as upper management still has the $ to pay lawyers and sticks to the Hubbard playbook the abuses will continue.

Any idea what the staff level in Perth was before the push to grab bodies for the recent grand opening? In other words, of the 40 they now have, how many were long time staff and how many were recruited just for this? My bet is they’re back to within 2-3 of the former level within a year. I’d love to find out whether I’m right later on.

There are only 30. 200 – 170. The highest Perth has been since the early nineties is 45 that’s both day and foundation. 4 pictured are long time scios. Most of the 30 are long time staff. On foundation about 6-7 are from one family. Hope this helps. There aren’t 200 active scios in Perth so good luck on that number.

The reality is….all $cientology delivers is broken promises and shattered dreams.

Apologies if this is basic, but I am confused by staff vs org. A few questions:
Are staff members paid a salary?
If so, does this salary come from the local parishioners, or from the COS parent organization?
Is this salary equivalent to what that job would fetch outside of the COS?
I Yawnalot says
State Govts pay prisoners don’t they? About the same rate applies within the Cof$. You need to research this blog or Google it if you truly want that question answered. You learn a lot along the way.
JVB says
Thanks, Yawnalot. I do thank you for the dismissive reply. Thankfully, someone answered my question, and did so without using that reply to compensate for their own insecurities.
I Yawnalot says
What an interesting comment. I didn’t realise I had so many insecurities. I’ll make sure I’ll set aside hours of my time doing your research for you on a subject very well covered by Google.
When one has worked for a decade for nothing, been cheated, lied to, had your money stolen and family fucked up I guess sometimes I get a little short referring to simple questions I’ve seen answered many, many times before. Please forgive me for being human and using your question to get a comparative point across.
I still maintain state prisoners, more often than not are treated far better than those on Scientology staff. Or is that too difficult for you to grasp as an answer? Sometimes, quite often in fact you DON’T get paid at all, nothing and go hungry while on staff, let alone being forced to work extra jobs, get very little sleep etc to make up the slack just so you can survive. And then you get chastised by Scientology executives especially the Sea Org people because you’re “moonlighting,” hence you’re now regarded as being ineffective as a Scientologist because Scientology has ALL the answers you’ll ever need to handle everything in life.
If you can’t grasp that, I’d expect you to think I’m some sort of insecure moron. You have yourself a good day, OK?
Balletlady says
Prisoners receive free daily meals (no worse than what COS feeds people), prisoners get medical and dental care, clothing & shoes paid for, they have exercise rooms & can obtain reading materials. Some prisons have “physical fitness rooms”. Prisoners can earn a GED, some might attend college classes on line too. They don’t have to work 12 hours a day, AND they can often receive visits from relatives & friends…no disconnection policy.
For some, just like a long term COS member, “life on the outside” is unfathomable….they cannot adjust to something they’re not use to living on a daily basis so many prisoners offend again & end up back in prison where they feel more accepted and more comfortable with the lifestyle.
Aquamarine says
Yawn, Baby, its possible that JVB has never been In, and for anyone who’s never been In its gotta be a stretch to conceive of how abused and made wrong a Class V staff member or a Sea Org member can be made!
I have seen CL V org staff who WANTED to be on staff more than anything, trying to arrange their lives, moonlighting, contorting themselves to be able to keep body and soul together and be productive staff members, yet STILL made wrong and continually targeted by Ethics so much that they gave up and blew. No one acknowledged their Herculean efforts to “make it go right”.
These were 2 different staff members I knew, back in the day. But their true stories told to a Never In might well cause a raising of incredulous eyebrows,
Possibly, its just too beyond the beyond. Nothing personal.
Jenna Miscavige Hill’s book was named “Beyond Belief” for a reason/ Your reality differs very widely from a Never In.
Now, here’s a hug from me, and go and kiss and make up with JVB , Yawn.
I Yawnalot says
Thanks Aqua, you’re a sweetie.
Having being an experienced NCO in the military and the associated life management you find yourself forced to live and deal with, I feel the truth never really hurts in the long run. JVB is probably a good person, I don’t know, but if they want in on the Scientology experience… well… I’ll treat them no differently than a comrade in the same situation facing us both.
Scientology is a really ugly organisation, I’m well past the point of spoon feeding the understanding of it. It’s a fucking horrible, criminally oriented organisation, period! The sooner the general public like JVB realise that the sooner the Cof$ is toast & the better this society will be.
I mean no personal offence to JVB but if someone wants to understand what Scientology is and does, well… you better be prepared to be offended if you want to relate it to your own life experience.
JVB says
No doubt that the COS is a horrid entity. I can’t imagine what you all have been through, and I don’t feel that I’m missing out on it. I’ve been into a COS building once – duped into it, really. That was enough for me. I don’t accept your premise that asking a question warrants a nasty reaction – just because you feel like giving one. It would be really easy for you to ignore the question, rather than try to multiply negative feelings. Hey, to each his own. You deal with things your way, and I won’t really be offended. It takes a lot to truly get under my skin. A
silly back and forth isn’t a big deal.
Aquamarine says
I get it, Yawn. On everything. Here’s another hug 🙂
JVB, I understand what you you’ve said. I think its very cool of you to not take offense at what was in all likelihood an irrepressible lapse in patience from an ordinarily patient, kind and understanding person. That’s my 2 cents anyway . Nice to have you here. 🙂
Dark Avenger says
They get paid from whatever the org makes for a week from auditing, book sales, course sign-ups that are paid for, etc, after a cut is sent to the central CoS entity.
Many times people are on staff part-time and work another part-time job either because of lack of demand at the org or because a full-time job as a staff rarely pays a decent wage.

You can bet that anyone being paid a salary (except DM) is being paid a mere pittance. Less than minimum wage for sure. Less than half. Less than a quarter. Oh Hell!
