You can be certain that the level of hype and bs at the annual IAS Celebration at St Hill this weekend was unparalleled, epic and milestone.
If these new promotional items are any indication, the brazen lies are becoming so astounding that it is hard to imagine anyone actually buying them?
Seriously, they actually believe that handing out WTH (with NO information even about how many were handed out or what percentage of the population they reached or whether anyone even read it) has made Amsterdam the “5th safest city on earth” (wonder where they get that supposed statistic from??).
Again, another whopper. If the Way To Happiness is causing murder rates to drop like this, how come some 6 of the 11 cities in the world with highest murder rate are in Venezuela and Colombia (see Wikipedia). These two countries have had more WTH distribution than anywhere in the world according to scientology. There have been about 8 IAS Freedom medal winners from these two countries — all awarded for having handled the crime problem with WTH.
This one is just absurd.
Why don’t they NAME these “housing projects” as I guarantee you if you went to them nobody would have a clue about WTH and that 3-4 murders a day over years has not been reduced to none of three years. One or the other end of that claim (or maybe both) is untrue.
The crime here is not simply that they lie — but that they get people to hand over money on the basis of their lies. They present these things as being facts beyond reproach. After all, who would believe the most ethical organization on earth would lie to them?
These are but 3 recent examples. I am sure when we get the breakdown of the IAS event from this year there will be a whole pile more of these sort of lies that they used right at the event to hard-sell people into giving them more money to “save the world.”
Bernie Madoff I am sure regrets the fact that he was not smart enough to couch his scam in a religious cloak. He would probably not be in jail today if he had figured that angle out.

Excellent article, Mike. You know, when I was in – and I’m embarrassed to admit this, by the way, but when I was in, and I got promo like this that had amazing stats like this, on crime and so forth, whether it was the Way To Happiness booklets having been given out someplace, or some major good effects the IAS caused in some area or another, when I was in (hangs head in shame) I just believed it. I really did! I never questioned it, never!.
It never occurred to me that the people who wrote this promo would be lying, that they were even capable of lying about such things. Talk about being gullible.
(Don’t worry, I’m ok. I’m laughing at myself now, and its fine.)
To continue: it was only when I started reading Marty’s blog that the truth began to dawn on me that, wow, it was ALL lies, no truth in ANY of this stuff! They just wanted more money!
And it took a while for this truth to really sink in. Its not that I refused to believe it but I resisted it, I processed it slowly because I wanted to believe that the money I had donated had at least done some good.
Oh, well, we live and learn, and as someone in politics said, “Trust, but verify”. Well, that’s exactly what I, in UTR mode, began to do, back in the day, and as you can guess, the cult was fine with “trust”, but “verify”? Not so much.
No, they didn’t t seem to appreciate being asked to verify their claimed statistics. In fact, they were downright suspicious of me for asking! For, in their collective “mind”, for lack of a better term, there had to be some reason why I would even ASK. Like, something wrong with ME. Not with THEM! Oh, no! Something wrong with me, that I just didn’t accept whatever they said as absolute fact.
And so, here I am today; disaffected, undoubtedly overt & withold ridden, out-ethics, undoubtedly miserable, failing in life, bitter, defrocked – actually, I never had a frock, but never mind, defrocked, apostatic, and last but not least, thrilled that all it took to get me out of a ruthless cult was a series of on-point questions, so that now here I am with y’all on the friendly fringes of the internet.
So, any of you out there who are lurking and UTR, if you want out, if you’re ready, just ask good question, and insist on being answered. With high ARC of course. Do that, and watch what happens.

Got to hand it to them. The old-timey patent medicine men would sell you coloured water full of laxatives to get your money. IAS is saving on the water bill by just selling you blatant lies.
FG says
it’s a nonsense! I am sure that if you ask to anyone on the street in Amsterdam if he has ever read a booklet Way to H, he would just say no.
They go to IAS event to be reassured that it’s not true those rumours that scientology is failling.
They are happy again, They give money and maybe can sleep happily. Their bubble universe is still there.

Friends, the only reason I bring this up is cause you may know somebody in a similar
situation, or you may be in a similar situation, and if your in a
situation like that there’s only one thing you can do and that’s walk into
the shrink wherever you are ,just walk in say “Shrink, You can get
anything you want if you don’t screw with the IAS WTH program and walk out. You know, if
one person, just one person does it they may think he’s really sick and
they won’t take him. And if two people, two people do it,
they may think they’re both faggots and they won’t take either of them.
And three people do it, three, can you imagine, three people walking in to the IAS Reg.
and walking out. They may think it’s an
organization. And can you, can you imagine fifty people a day,I said
fifty people a day walking in and walking out of the IAS Reg. Office and
walking out. Friends they may thinks it’s a movement.
And that’s what it is.

In the eyes of scientology, a correlation of data implies causation.
If you get a promotion at work….. it’s because of your recent auditing.
If your wife gets pregnant…… it’s because of the data from the Basics.
If you crash your car…… it’s because you’re PTS.
IF crime drops in Amsterdam….it’s because of TWTH program.

Having been to Columbia several times I laugh my ass off every time I hear about what TWTH has done. They have made great strides in reducing violence, starting way before the booklet campaign. And the private security business is booming. It’s becoming a great country, too bad they have an org there.

Amsterdam, a progressive city where coffee shop can sell marijuana and prostitution is legal.
Somehow, I think these things have much more to do with how peaceful it is than an inane booklet that admonishes you to brush your teeth.

Well, here’s another aspect to the lies: many parishioners know they are lies but can’t come out and say, “You’re lying.” Or “I think these are lies and are just used to get money out of me after you ‘brief’ me about them.”
Nope. Can’t say that and as a scientologist you “learn” to sit through a briefing about all the wonderful things the church is doing. Then slowly back away from the church of scientology unless you’re too locked in and stay a scientologist in name only and become an “Under The Radar.”

The people that hypnotize themselves within Scientology’s fabrication of “facts” never cease to amaze in their gullibility. I know a couple of inmates of the mindset of Scientology that I get hear about pretty regularly and have concluded that each and every Scientologist is virtually a bubble unto themselves. If you put all the Scientologists in the world in one place what would you have? I pondered that question for a little while and still can’t fathom an answer except one. Without lies they wouldn’t be there. Scientologists don’t gather for the truth or fun or anything meaningful, only lies. In fact I would go as far as to say, most of them would rather pay money and make up lies why they can’t attend such functions so they can stay at home and polish their bubbles from the inside.
No amount of real information or fact verification penetrates those individual bubbles. They just all combine into one bigger bubble if they ever get together.

I’m sure that the murder rate in Cuidad Juarez went down. But what about the murder rate in Ciudad Juarez? The one time I visited the place in the late 80s (I did my Basic at Bliss), it was a real shithole, and I was wondering if WTH made any difference there.
And I’m absolutely sure that all the Bloods and Crips needed to stop killing was a strong admonition to brush their teeth.

Seriously, they actually believe that handing out WTH has made Amsterdam the “5th safest city on earth”
Well, let’s examine. These are people who also believe that dead people live under their toe nails and are the cause of all their problems and ills. They also believe that they communicate telepathically with them (but for some reason they cannot telepathically communicate with thee or me) and need to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars, spend YEARS doing so, be abused emotionally and financially for reading a book or website or perhaps saying hi to a friend.
Examination over.

Here’s the data on Amsterdam: http://uk.businessinsider.com/the-20-safest-cities-in-the-world-2015-1
Note that no where in the write up do they credit WTH with having achieved this position. Also if you note the wording it only says Amsterdam is in the top 10 for personal safety, the rest of the definition refers to the infrastructure.

If you are SO freaking STUPID and GULLIBLE as to believe that the booklet The Way to Happiness has cut down murders in public housing projects from 3 to 4 a day to nothing in three years (not to mention the ridiculous stats about major world cities) you DESERVE to be fleeced of every cent you have. You can’t be trusted with any more money. *and how unbelievably brain dead do you have to be to even believe that there is a housing project where there are 3- 4 homicides EACH DAY??? (that’s like over 1,200 people each year being killed in one housing project … who would even be left to live there? Think maybe that would make CNN or the front page of the LA Times???) But then again, these are the same people who believe that the planet is currently being “cleared” …
