After the revelation that 2 OT 7 scientologists were arrested for their participation in the June 6 insurrection, we were sent a video clip reportedly taken (and narrated) by wackjob “human rights attorney” Leigh Dundas (who seems to have returned from hiding out in Mexico following her participation in the January 6th insurrection). She was apparently helping to organize the “People’s Convoy” in Adelanto California (not a very glamorous spot for a sendoff I must say).
For some reason, a bunch of the people in this video are wearing yellow t-shirts… A coincidence? I doubt it. I suspect they didn’t clearly identify themselves as “Volunteer Ministers” as I don’t imagine scientology is held in high regard by rightwing activists who tend to loudly announce their faith in God and Jesus as a motivation for their views and actions. But don’t be surprised to see this footage crop up in some scientology event video… May be a video that has nothing to do with the “People’s Convoy” but simply be included in a montage of “our VM’s” working “to help victims of [fill in the blank].”

I think it’s another thing that is better said about you than a title to advertise yourself. Lots of members seem to have gotten involved in fringe politics and conspiracy theories during the pandemic, which it seems is going to cause the CofS problems in terms of divided loyalties. For example, already there’s reportedly dissent among members over the organization having more or less forced sea org members to get vaccinated as a practical matter. I would guess most staff don’t have time to get involved.
But scientologists seem to have ended surprisingly right-leaning for a group that we may think of as having largely come out of the 1960s counter-culture movement. Think of how repressive they are regarding sex now, for instance.

About a month ago my heart defibbulator fired 20 times in 5 minutes, each time sending 900 volts through my heart. It was like “Riding the lightning” while sitting in ” Old Sparky’. I saw a doctor today and he told me that in 35 years of this kind of work, he has only seen 2 or 3 people get that many shocks in that length of time. ( I imagine that he has seen a few more, but was only counting those who were still alive afterwards.)
After the third shock I was screaming to the Emergency Room doctors to “Shut this thing off and let me die”. They were trying to get me to relax after the third shock , saying ” Relax, and You are OK, ”
I did not know how (1) how anyone could “Relax” would 900 volts ripping through their body and (2) how they had the idea that I was “OK” since it was obvious that I was in cardiac arrest. When the shocks finally stopped I thought that I was dead for about 30 seconds. I am OK now ( until next time).

Not true, mwestern. I’m speaking from my observations. People I knew. 3 deaths, ages 58, 64 and 60, otherwise healthy strong physically healthy men, early on when Covid hit. All unvaccinated, not due to their beliefs but because there was no vaccine then. I was was exposed early on to Covid way before I got vaccinated, and did not get it. Its funny, unpredictable, this virus. Some, like me, were exposed and did not catch it. Others caught if and became mildly sick. One man I know, strong as an ox, became severely ill for months and took months to recover. And then, for others, its was a swift death sentence. A vaccine is common sense. The virus doesn’t care what you or I believe. Its just looking to survive. To do that requires a home, namely a body. Once it has a body, it either kills that body or if the body lives then the virus dies so the virus has to spread from that body to another body. This has nothing to do with political or religious beliefs. I consider that those who refuse a workable vaccine to have themselves a death wish – for themselves and others. Though again, some, like myself who were definitely exposed before being vaccinated did not become ill. I did worry about being an asymptomatic carrier though, and so as soon as I was eligible to get the vaccine I got it right away. We can agree to disagree about the vaccine and mandates for it, etc. We need not debate it here and we shouldn’t because its off purpose for the blog and Mike has been very tolerant of me so far in this respect. I know its a hot button issue for many Americans who consider mandating a vaccine by the government to be a severe and dangerous infringement on their civil liberties, etc. Again, we can agree to disagree.
