Here is coverage of Mike Rinder’s trip to Ireland to represent Scientology in a debate at Trinity College. The focus of the debate was “Is Scientology a Religion?”
For whatever reason the incorporated Church of Scientology declined to send a representative so he went himself to make sure that his religion was represented.
Mike Rinder was ideally suited to this debate having served with L Ron Hubbard personally and having been a part of the Scientology religion since an early age. For more information on Mike and his history with the Scientology religion, click here to see his bio – Mike Rinder
While the debate was seen by current Church of Scientology officials as unimportant, the fact is that Trinity University in particular and places of higher learning in general are very important to the shaping of perception for the upcoming generations. The leaders of tomorrow are right now sitting in class rooms and holding debates just like this one and a religion that cares about it’s future takes the time to send a representative.
Overall the debate went well, with Mike Rinder making and excellent presentation and giving compelling reasons why the Scientology philosophy was indeed a religion. While he did not attempt to defend the abusive practices of the current Scientology leadership he explained clearly why Scientology must be considered a religion.
