This guy is assuming his rightful place alongside other notables in the Wacky Hall of Shame. Right up there with David Wilson and Mike Smith.
He is taking a quote from the “Pledge to Mankind” that was signed at the “founding” of the IAS and attributing it to Hubbard.
What an idiot.
That fancy sounding document was written by Lyman Spurlock. Apparently Colin Davie suffers the same delusion so many others do. L. Ron Hubbard had no idea the IAS ever existed. It was created without his knowledge and as far as I know, to his dying day he was unaware of it. Remember, the IAS was not a fundraising vehicle in the early days. It was created based on a bright idea from a Danish lawyer, Jakob Arrevaad, following a principle of “organization” recognized in Europe. It’s purpose was to make a repository of funds OUTSIDE any control of the IRS. Initially the funds from SERVICES in Europe were channeled to it so as not to bring them into the US. It was not a fundraising entity it was a funds storage and protection entity. And the whole PR “signing of the pledge” was just that. PR to give this legitimacy – as if it really was money that was NOT under control of the church but instead belonged to “the members.” That lie is perpetrated to this day. It is the fundamental lie upon which all other lies about the IAS are premised.
Colin then proceeds with the usual litany of horrors that the IAS is supposedly “handling.” What a sick joke this is. Not a single shred of evidence exists that anything is being done about any of these problems — especially not the first two — in fact, scientology ADDS to the problem of human trafficking and slavery with people in the Sea Org, particularly those brought to the US on R1 visas. No doubt all these things are problems, though I doubt that employee theft accounts for 33% of business bankruptcies??) and it would be wonderful if someone did something effective about them.
That sure as hell isn’t the IAS.
And then comes the usual “If it isnt uncomfortable, it isn’t scientology” pitch to “step up to the plate” and fork over now.
With a “commendation” to be handed out provided you give enough.

Subject: LRH Quote for you from Colin – Pledge to Mankind and IAS 2015
Dear Alyson,
“Time and again, throughout the troubled history of civilization on this planet, new ideas, new religions and constructive thought have met with violent opposition. Such attacks come from those who would preserve the status quo and particularly from those who seek to preserve and enhance their position through the domination, subjugation and even destruction of others. For this reason new religions have been born in blood at the cost of great sacrifice and suffering by adherents. It is only through a unity of purpose and unswerving commitment by a dedicated group that new ideas and new religions survive and expand.
Scientology has been in existence now for some thirty-four years. During that time it has suffered all manner of attacks from the forces of oppression in various countries. Yet Scientology has survived and expanded because of the dedication of its members and because it is a force for goodness and freedom which is easily recognized by men of goodwill; despite the vicious lies which are spawned by those who would enslave mankind and which are carried out by the media.” LRH The Pledge to Mankind circa 1984
Here are some quick facts about world affairs:
- There are an estimated 30 million people enslaved internationally.
- Human trafficking generates annual profits of over $32 billion.
- 40 million children under fifteen are abused yearly.
- There are an estimated 9 million people in prisons internationally.
- Employee theft causes 33% of business bankruptcies.
- In the U.S. someone dies from a drug overdose every 19 minutes.
- 243 million people used illicit drugs in the last year.
- Since 2009, the number of illegal drugs has increased by 200.

Your support is needed to combat these societal ruins and we are the only true group that has the technology to do so.
As a member of the IAS your donations are the energy which enables us to get these solutions out there.
Now is the time for all Scientologists to support the IAS in achieving its fourth dynamic goals.
I’m urging you to make a sizable donation to the IAS and let me know that you have done it so I can appropriately acknowledge and commend you for this.
You can make the donation by logging onto www.iasmembership.org and fill out the form.
Remember to email me back with what you have donated so that I can prepare your commendation.
Thank you for stepping up to the plate and making a difference.
I also look forward to hearing any wins you are having in your area with applying Dianetics and Scientology.

A Scientologist that gets sick or in some sort of sad situation and has a member card or something that states they are a member should ask the IAS for help. If they refuse they should sue under the understanding the billions the IAS existence is for Scientologists in trouble or in need. Thus in turn would expose the lie and then david miscavage can be arrested for tax evasion, fraud, money laundering. LRH did not creat the IAS therefore the sole blame is on Dave!!!

On a subscribers only Objectivists board I posted a comment:
As I am presently taking anti-seizure medication I would be more concerned about the opposition to”Pyschs” by the Church of Scientology than Christian interference with medicine.
Another member replied:
Since the Scientologists actually purchased a very large amount of video editing equipment from my last employer I had the experience of being inside and working with some of the higher ups at Golden Era studios inside the Gold Base Scientology HQ.
Your fears are completely well founded. They literally had legions of uniformed “sea-org” young people editing propaganda films all day for worldwide multi-language distribution. Some claimed to had not left the compound in 30 years. The actual editing suites would make the teams at 30-rock and LDS cinema studios jealous. That they hold sway in Hollywood and influence in many major cities has always been a shock to me.
Oh and the e-meters, cats and special golden bathroom! What a trip when my co-worker accidentally used the special golden bathroom, nearly ruined the business!
In the grand scheme of things I would think socialized medicine would be the largest threat though.

“Employee theft causes 33% of business bankruptcies.”
Well, if you include the cases of the criminal organisation known as the “church” of $cientology getting its claws into a business and the senior members of that business starting donating to the IAS, then maybe they’re on to something? Thus, the themes of yesterday’s RB and today’s BS are linked.

Dave,
Organizational update:
Friday night on East Colorado Boulevard in Pasadena was the usual buzz; but just around the corner at South Raymond Avenue your organization was in its usual condition of ‘the lights are on but nobody is home’. There wasn’t even anyone at the reception desk.
Your next steps in adopting the IDLE ‘christian science reading room’ business model is to reduce business hours to ONE hour per day and to never even bother turning the lights on.

What is amazing here is that all this fund raising is designed to make a better world through Ideal Orgs & Missions. Yet, when you go into an Ideal Org or Mission you do not get any kind of service you may have expected that brought you there in the first place and the staff will ARC break with you on it afterwards. Is that better people? Is that really helping Mankind? 🙂

this letter is the ultimate in hypocrisy, because no matter how much they trumpet the ills if the world (with very questionable statistics that should make a 5th grader raise an eyebrow) and state how much scientology is “helping”, there is never any evidence that they actually do anything but make their members lives miserable.
one of my favorite parts of Leah Remini’s book was when she was asking for a picture of a volunteer minister “handing someone a fucking bottle of water” to prove that her money was going to help Hurricane Katrina victims.
I truly hope that this letter makes some people think about whether or not any of the promised solutions ever materialize. for chrissakes, the “church” has been around for over 50 years, and has been beating its members up for money for at least 25 of them… shouldn’t they have been able to overcome at least one of these problems by now? if they’re the “only true group who has the technology to do so?” you’d think they could at least have fixed employee theft by now…

Very good, hit ’em up for more dough. They can’t come out and say they don’t care about humanity and the world. That wouldn’t sound very scientological of them, would it? Play on their guilt, their fear, their vanity, it doesn’t matter, it’s all good. Make them cough it up like they did yesterday and the day before. And the day before that. And the day before that one too! Make implicit threats then make those threats explicit. Sec checks, declares, disconnection, corny over-the-top speeches, lies nobody believes anymore…at least some of those folks are getting so they can’t stand you or the sound of your name. Prepare yourself, rebellion is intrinsic to human nature, check out the history of man. I’m talking about the REAL history.

What I just wrote to the IAS:
To whom it may concern:
Please name and substantiate one benefit to mankind your organization has accomplished. And don’t tell me you are helping people all over the world, because you are not. All I can find that you have done and still do, is demand and collect more money from your parishoners until they are bankrupt. Nothing can be found reported anywhere except wild generalities by your own fundraisers.
Why not open your books for inspection about all these so-called causes you support? Why all the secrecy?
Thanks, Rand McNally

One of the things that drives me insane about the cult is the amount of effort and word diarrhea put into quoting “Source”, but no effort whatsoever put into quoting anything that didn’t come from the pen of Hubbard. Colin throws out a bunch of figures, and to provide them with “legitimacy”, cites a “source”: an IAS newsletter. So, in other words, the IAS is using the IAS for “proof” of a “problem” (and, yes, I’m using a lot of quotation marks, totally justified in this instance, I believe). The logical fallacies are running as fast and furious as Vin Diesel.
If they really wanted to point out these problems, how about getting actual figures from the experts whose job it is to come up with them? The United Nations, for one. They keep track of human trafficking numbers and prison populations. The US Department of Commerce should have the business numbers at hand. Their figures would have a lot more gravitas. But, no, the IAS knows everything, and it has to be admitted that they know their audience. The sheeple have been conditioned to believe every single wet fart that comes out of the IAS as incontrovertible fact.
It’s a vicious circle. The IAS puts out numbers that show a “problem” to get more money to the IAS so they can put out more numbers that show a “problem” so that they can get more money…etc. Statpush did a magnificent job putting this data into context, so I won’t go into that. But abuse of numbers is really a sore point with me. I was taught that data is sacrosanct, and the penalties for falsification and abuse are severe. With the cult, it’s just another thing to be put on the list of why I loathe them so much.
Jose Chung says

One of these things is not like the other…. employee theft and bankruptcy ?
What about the poverty, hopelessness, illness and disability that force people into these problems? “40 million children under fifteen are abused yearly.
There are an estimated 9 million people in prisons internationally.”
So do those statistics include RPF inmates or what?
statpush says
Whenever Scn starts throwing around numbers I raise an eyebrow, not only because of their propensity to lie, but because they are often stated with no context.
(Note: this is not to make light of these situations or to downplay them)
For example:
World Population: 7,400,000,000 (1,900,000,000 are children)
USA Population: 321,442,019
* 30 million people enslaved, represents 0.4% of the world population
* 40 million children under fifteen are abused. This figure is suspicious since most governments will admit there is no easy way to calculate this number.
* 9 million people in prisons, represents 0.1% of the world population
* 243 million people used illicit drugs 3% of the world population
In the US, someone dies from a drug overdose every 19 minutes. 76 people/day or 27,663/year, which represents 0.008% of the US population
In the US there are 2,596,993 deaths per year, drug overdose accounts for 1%
2x more die from the flu
4.7x more die from accidents
22x more die from heart disease
If the church was serious about the drug situation (usage, overdose and arrests), they would consult professionals who’ve made it their life’s work. Many would tell them drugs should be decriminalized. Instead they rely on LRH who did “research” and came up with the ultimate solutions; problem is, his solutions have never been proven to solve the problem.
Finally, on the subject of bankruptcy (a topic most familiar with the church)
Top 5 reasons for bankruptcy
1) Medical Expenses
2) Job Loss
3) Poor/Excess Use of Credit
4) Divorce/Separation
5) Unexpected Expenses
Church, through its actions, have contributed to at least 4 of these factors.
During the greatest financial crisis we ever faced, banks and politicians pulled off the biggest heist in history – the Church of Scientology didn’t say a word – not a word.
Scientology is a pretend church. They pretend to be concerned about society and its problems, because that is what church’s are supposed to do. They do it so they “appear” to be religious, not because they genuinely care.
These topics are championed because they are buttons, that when pressed will result in the largest donation. Period.
LDW says
Facts, unfortunately are lost in the misty fog of belief and obfuscation which has become the modus operandi of the IAS and the vast majority of corporate $cientologists.
Swirling around in that fog is the underlying mantra, “give me your money, give me more of your money, give me ALL of your money.
Old Surfer Dude says

Some of those stats were a little off…hope it wasn’t presumptuous of me to fix them..
*There are an estimated 5,000 Sea Org members enslaved internationally.
*Our human trafficking generates annual savings of millions in labor costs.
*Thousands of children under fifteen are abused yearly.
*There are hundreds of people in our prisons internationally.
*Gestapo tactics used against our members caused countless business bankruptcies.
*In our Narconon program, someone dies from a drug overdose every 19 months, give or take…
*Since its peak in 1990, the membership of Scientolgy has decreased exponentially.

This dribble is just that, ‘ IAS dribble.’
For me this is just another example of the cycle of a scientologist. From the keen, oh, yeah, I’ll help with that, through to the dismal realisation you’ve been duped. I’m sure if I put some effort in I could come up with a series of steps a person goes through from “finding scientology to utter contempt of the organisation and its lies,” but I just can’t be bothered anymore to inspect so closely. I think the tax man of North Korea is a more legit and honest type of entity than the IAS by a long way.
What we witness in articles like this is just a step on the scale for some poor dupe. His/her time will come like the rest of us when the walls come crashing down and the impossible amount of money parted with in response to being lied to wafts in, at first like a niggling sensation then it develops into a full blown nightmare which takes your breath away. Scientology is a scam, hard pill to sallow for some but the evidence is overwhelming. As sure as the tide comes in twice a day, the IAS does nothing with your money except steal it or use to extract/steal even more money.

I just realized that in the few months I have been out I have become more content and happier, and one of the reasons for this is because while in, all you ever hear or read about is these “horrible conditions” outside of the safety of the group that is “the only hope for mankind”. What a load of crap, but a brilliant way to keep people from wanting to leave. I was fed this BS for 25 years as a public and was “picking off” people close to me one by one because of the paranoia caused by this dramatic control method. I am now re-evaluating my actions based on my own free thinking, reasoning, and education and re-connecting with some that were actually not trying to kill me, like I was led to believe.

Those that endured dm and escaped.I sometimes need to tell myself dm has been in charge for 30 is it? years now. The ship cos is listing so badly pretty soon she will take on too much water and make her exit. Meanwhile dm will flee in the dark of night…or at least I feel that as of now. With mucho $.
Anyway I look forward to your posts. For me all the years out and I am now 42 years from when I joined Sea Org, all the years out are learning experiences for me. Sometimes I still get little shards of cos that rise to the surface, but that is all worth it because I am Free! Love to you, Ann

Hi KatherineINCali: I get teary just reading the replies to my story! Thank you for your kind words. I was a public for 25 years and was about to join staff. It was when I was sent for training in LA that I found out how much of a sick game this whole thing was. Once I was there “I” started disappearing. I could actually feel my life going away. I realized that this tech was not to be used to improve my life, but to give it up for the “cause”. I didn’t get very far with training before I was completely depressed. I was sent out there on a one way ticket and had to find my way home. It took many weeks. I will never forget it but I’m so glad I could “see” the “not so obvious”. Thank you for your interest. 🙂

Hi Jennifer, It is a pleasure to read your post and I am very happy you are out! There are many other helpful resources, books, blogs and videos as well, but these are particularly good, especially for someone just coming out of the group. Enjoy life! 🙂 – T.J.

Richard D says
“spiritual eternity” and “my eternity” were not terms tossed about in the 1970s. Nobody I knew even considered scn a religion. Does current CoS actually want participants to believe they are religious and regard themselves as parishioners?
Gimpy says
Yes, part of the re-release of the books and materials was to change the words refering to scn as a science to imply that it is a religion. The leaders use church terms far more often as well. Personally I found it very off putting, I liked the fact that it was not much like a religion and seemed quite scientific.

“My religion” was an inside joke to defend ourselves from the IRS and other mean nasty suppressives.

Hi Richard D, Well I certainly tossed both terms around in the 70s & 60s too. Plus I wrote SO1 line very early in my SO days extremely upset because how was I going to find eternity with Ron & the SO after he was gone? The answer was the farther up the bridge you go the more you will know about this matter.Laughter! You may have gathered I really walk my own path! Love, Ann.

Welcome to the growing bunch of apostates Jennifer. We have a sweeping range of people here, from the timid to the extreme, hey OSD? Your thoughts are most welcome. especially since you are recently out. There is a certain fascination as to what it’s actually like inside the bubble these days. We see their electronic messages often and are bewildered by the lies and hype. Hope you can shine some light into those dark recesses of the corporate scientologist’s world.
Cheers!

Sounds like the “OUT” cognition.
Jennifer says
“…OUT cognition….”
I like that!
SILVIA says
And in this LRH quote: ‘from those who would preserve the status quo and particularly from those who seek to preserve and enhance their position through the domination” it seems it is describing the mechanism scientology itself used to preserve a status quo of the members as the ‘only ones capable to do something’ while, at the same time, deceitfully dominated the parishioners, public and staff alike.
And all disguised by the lies you just presented us with Mike. Thank you

I love the sizable donation. Every other charity in the world ask for “your help” or “a pledge” they have to put an adjective infront to make sure you dont give a hundred bucks. Which most xharities would be grateful for. I wonder if Dave will ever just run off with the money one day
Old Surfer Dude says
Well, Dave, I did, in fact, give a sizable donation to the IAS. Now, admittedly, it was a Scottish donation which is quite different from regular donations. But, it was still a donation. You can see it at the top of of the poster list. And…I’m proud that I could donate so much…..

Moron comes to mind. Applies to both the askers and the givers in this case.

I guess that means David Miscavige is a moron.
Old Surfer Dude says
You guess? YOU GUESS??? Well, as long as you’re just “guessing” about it, you won’t mind if I bitch slap you, right?
Potpie says
OUCH!
Old Surfer Dude says
I’m sorry that hurt, Potpie, but if you “guess” that the dwarf is moron one more time, I’ll be showing up at your front door! Make sure you have plenty of good red wine as I’ll be settling in to have a long talk with you.
threefeetback says
Careful OSD, you are slipping into the DM valence.
Old Surfer Dude says
What…DM stands for Dumb Motherfucker Valance? Already been there and done that…
threefeetback says
Yeah, but did you ENJOY it?
Potpie says
“There are an estimated 9 million people in prisons internationally”.
My guess is a vast majority of those people belong in prison.
And it is also my guess that the IAS could give a crap about the ones that don’t.
I would also venture to say that 33% of the companies that try to use the admin tech
go bankrupt.
So 243 million people in the world used illicit drugs last year…..this may sound silly but that doesn’t sound too bad compared to the 7 billion in the world. Maybe they were testing the 200 new illegal drugs.
I make fun but really those facts are generalities that Colin cannot confirm nor does he care to.
Colin if full of shit and the IAS is nothing more than a criminal organization. I mean really the only thing in all of the above that I see is LRH would be the monumental overt that the IAS is.
