The answer to the question “How will the LA Org pattern boom Cambridge Org?” is VERY simple.
It won’t.
1. Miscavige is not sending 200 Sea Org members to Cambridge to work from 9am to midnite 7 days a week for free.
2. Cambridge is not located next to a subway entrance so they cannot bodyroute unsuspecting suckers in…. And the 6 MONTH ‘apprenticeship” all the Ideal Org EDs have been put through to “train” them on how to bodyroute is utterly meaningless (this is supposedly the key element that made LA Org stats go into “straight-up Affluence”). Like many other “ideal orgs” Cambridge is in the boonies, the only foot traffic they see are deer and feral cats.
3. They do not have a “test center” to attract other gullibles located in a high foot traffic area (and the inherent problems that go along with it, you might drag a few in off the street but you are not going to get them to the “main org”, this pattern does NOT work and has been a proven failure not just in LA but also in Joburg, Tampa, Seattle, London and anywhere else they have set up “Test Centers.”
4. Cambridge doesn’t have a large population of “off-lines” scientologists and scientology kids to tap into.
And the simple answer to the other burning question, “What sort of effects with this level of production have on all of Cambridge?”
Not a single thing.
Nobody in Cambridge will know they even exist….
So, there you go, the answers to Mr. Mike Spurgeon’s questions.
And a bonus trivia question for everyone.
Q: What does Mike Spurgeon still on post running a failing continent after all this time prove?
A: There is no scientology “management” — “LRH management tech” would have required him to be replaced at least a decade ago. Back in the halcyon years of LRH management, he would have sent someone from the Apollo to replace him after about 3 months of “downstats” and that is the pattern embedded in his “management tech.”
And just one more thing — it has been 8 months since the announcement of the eradication of LA Fdn and the insertion of 200 Sea Org Members to “take over.” So this LA Org “BOOM” has been going for quite a while. How come LA Org isn’t literally bursting at the seams with hundreds of people streaming in and out of the building and the parking lot overflowing? How come not another single org can even promote that they are “booming” — instead every one of them is desperately trying to recruit staff so they “can expand” (from Portland and Pasadena to Tampa and Sydney). Why haven’t the “successful actions” been exported to the other orgs, even those in the LA area (heard the telex machines went inop and there are no replacement parts and phones are psychotic so there is no way to communicate to anyone outside of LA any more….). Well, the answer to this one is simple to. There is no boom. It’s strictly in the minds of copywriters who churn out this garbage.
By the way, anyone who was around for the birth of the “ideal org” insanity will recall the earlier “pattern” that was Miscavige’s “strategy” — the “Buffalo Strat.” So named for the brilliant handling of Buffalo Org where the church sued the city for violating its rights in seeking eminent domain on the church’s property. The City settled and gave enough money to buy a MUCH bigger and nicer building. Of course, after they bought the building Miscavige directed grandiose renovations, but the City had not included that in their settlement amount (unless Miscavige had spent less money on the building and saved some for renovations) so the fundraising began. It mostly fell on a local whale in Buffalo, Joe Sgroi who became the Nancy Cartwright of Buffalo. He got to stand next to Miscavige for a photo op as a reward for his millions.
For a long time, the catchphrase was “do the Buffalo strat” (which also included sending sec checkers to “find the CI to expansion”). And that eventually morphed into the “Ideal Org strategy.” Maybe they will use the “LA Org Pattern” for a bit and then Miscavige will announce Ideal Org Strat II or the Golden Age of Ideal Orgs or something, telling everyone that he has isolated the reason why the ideal orgs have not taken off — they don’t know how to bodyroute.
Pepper says
Hi Mike
I know you’ve answered me before on this topic but I can’t get it out of my mind. David Miscavige took advantage of the eminent domain lawsuit to get into a nicer building as the original Buffalo org was in a red light district and the city wanted to clean up the area and gentrify it.
A short time earlier, a long term parishioner and auditor at the Buffalo org, Ellie Perkins was murdered by her (legally) psychotic son, Jeremy Perkins. Ellie Perkinks daughter also works at the Buffalo org with her husband. There was a lot of investigation by the CoS when this happened, including security checking.
The two events came together perfectly because it always seemed to me that the “entheta” had to be “out created” and this was the perfect opportunity. The news of the homicide and the CoS was all over Western NY. It was horrible PR for the church and the Scn public too.
No doubt there was immense pressure on the Sgroi family to handle it with donations. Their business, Sgroi Financial is still going strong in Buffalo today.

Body routing died a sudden death with the advent of the FEBC org board in 1972 which consolidated the 3 Public Divisions into 1 and the definitive policy letter, New Reg Breakthrough, written by Diana Hubbard was canceled. Before this chokehold, SFO routed 80 – 100+ people into the org for personality tests daily. Every morning from 8:30 to 9:30 all Public Division personnel drilled upper Indoc. No matter what post anyone had they had to go on the street at 10 am to body route a new person in before going on post, even on Thursdays. After that there were 3 permanent body routers. Then after dinner every Public Div staff member was back on the street to route new people in for the lecture or LRH’s black and white film. The Comm Course and HQS Courses were full. The Academy was full. The HGC was very busy. But in 1972 body routing became the sole responsibility of Dept 16. SFO’s Dept 16 had 3 staff members. There was no more concerted effort to bring in new people because the 1971 policy to do so was no longer in force. The next stultifying blow was to split SFO into 2 orgs. It has never recovered.

Hi Aquamarine, I can’t find your exact post, but you were asking if all of Ron’s teachings or tech were totally bad if you believe in total good also.I was pondering that & here Is what I came up with as my take on it.A little truth from me.Yes @ times as the years roll by I honestly have thought was the initial love bombing from Ron & Mary Sue & Asho F So & my auditing & the fun times we had in my early yrs there all bad? Was the love I had for two very special beings there all bad? In that context & that time I have to say no it was not. However there is a movie & a short story called Turn Of The Screw those who have a better memory than I do now can tell me the author, but I can say that when that screw turned on me everything changed forever.Besides the physical I had calls from the GOI when I was on QM @ the complex known now as big blue that 2 class 8 c/ss’ were fighting very badly in the HGC & I had to go break them up.Then the LA Fire Dept was called on me this was when Operation Snow White was ramping up big time & they wanted to search the complex @ 1:00 AM & I was the only one there & had to hold them off & tell the Chief it was a false alarm.Crazy! & all that was in addition to starvation & being made to run barefoot up above the Griffith Observatory @ 5:00 Am well won’t go on with anymore about that.My point is I believe everyone is entitled to their own viewpoint & I do see yours & respect it greatly. But after all the above I can never separate Ron & now David Miscavige from the tech as it was applied. They will always be complicit in so many ways for the departure of those I loved permanently for my tears etc & for caring only about $ & themselves.OK I’m done & you know I love you & your posts always.Ann B.

Hi WalkSoftly, A thoughtful post.It is a shame that there will always be casualties. My heart goes out to all on this blog who know & have had the shock of learning that happened to friends & loved ones as I did also. This is just my take on the dark abuses of absolute power in the hands of one person,if I can learn from the casualties to be sweeter kinder gentler when I read or hear or post with someone who wants their opinion to be the only one,if I can stand back & see that I can still be me without becoming angry or upset when one does not agree with me then I can send my light to those who did not make it because of Ron David Miscavige or any other abuser of souls & their light can come back to me.As I draw closer to my end journey on this planet,I want to leave a peaceful path filled as much as possible with beauty & love.I believed I could do that when I signed that billion yr contract how very wrong I was.Now I have the chance to do it right.I am going to really try.I still have flaws & bad sad mad days yet I can post here & tell how things have affected me & how I know I must keep moving forward on my path.Thank You & take care Ann B.

Beautiful post Ann…and for all the good people who have been hurt by CoS abuses, I absolutely believe that some sort of devastating judgement day is coming for DM, whether in this life or the next!!
WalkSoftly says
Unquestioned and unbridled absolute power in the hands of one person is a recipe for disaster and corruption, especially under the guise (threat) of ‘eternal life/salvation’ at stake. It doesn’t matter if it’s L.Ron, DM, Warren Jeffs, Joseph Smith, Jim Jones, Jehovah’s witness, priest, pastors, ministers, large organizations or small, etc.. It’s frustrating to know abuses occur and so little can be done to stop them.
It’s rather gratifying to watch this organization implode due to short-sighted, insular grandiosity. It is a shame, however, that there will be casualties. Always casualties.

DM effectively purchased the pen name L Ron Hubbard. Years ago his stooges brayed about how they could make the old man say anything they want.
It is really disappointing like when you go to read a spy novel and it is not by the author but by some ghost writer controlled by a syndicate.
It may be legal.
But is sure isn’t cricket. Also, the novel generally sucks.
Welcome to brand x. It has been brand x since that demented midget got his paws on the pen name.

Right. Mike explained to us once how Miscavige’s purchasing of LRH’s name means that legally he, Miscavige, can write anything and make it look like Hubbard wrote it. Well, hello, OT9, you know? Man, I am so glad I’m not in that cult anymore!
Mike Rinder says
That wasn’t me… And I don’t think this is true, other than the fact he can write anything he wants and proclaim “it was LRH intention as described in a despatch for my eyes only” and nobody will ever challenge him on it.

The promo made me think of a movie long ago in which a morbidly obese female impersonator played a bad-to-the-bone woman whose murderous crime spree landed her right into the electric chair. Before being executed she gave a sort of acceptance speech as though she were being given an award and gleefully thanked everybody for the honor and for recognizing her valuable contribution to society. She started talking about her plans for a future modeling career but was cut short by the the flipping of the switch. For some reason the promo announcing Mr. Mike Spurgeon’s speech made me think of that. Something about being out of touch with reality.

Thought you could denigrate Dear Leader’s fantastically successful pgm didn’t you? You’ve got to get up pretty early (and VERY drunk) to even approach his greatness….
LDW says
Mike asks, “So this LA Org “BOOM” has been going for quite a while. How come LA Org isn’t literally bursting at the seams with hundreds of people streaming in and out of the building and the parking lot overflowing?”
It’s kinda like the model T Ford. At first they were the hottest thing on the block. Anyone could get one for $500 and they really worked.
Now they are antiquated and only have a collector’s value. Can’t touch one for less than $25,000.
Dianetics, The Modern Science of Mental Health is antiquated. After 65 years and public awareness of the multitude of unsubstantiated claims, it cannot ever again be the vanguard of org expansion or public acceptance. Add to that the increased public awareness of the vicious cult that emanated from the loins of that book and you have a hopeless situation.
At the core of everything that is useful in dianetics or scientology is the concept of granting beingness to others and loving and appreciating them. These are concepts that Miscavige cannot grasp and cannot tolerate in his cult. His slave-labor force is getting thin.
Roger Hornaday says
“At the core of everything that is useful in dianetics and scientology is the concept of granting beingness to others and loving and appreciating them.”
The idea of granting beingness is definitely a saving grace to scientology but I would need to see exact quotes to believe that Hubbard ever mentioned the word love or espoused the loveliness of appreciating others.
Aquamarine says
Beautifully said and very true, LDW.
marildi says
Roger, here are some quotes that mention love:
From the essay “How to Live with Children” –
“A good, stable adult with love and tolerance in his heart is about the best therapy a child can have.”
.
And from “What is Greatness?” –
Seeking to achieve any single desirable quality in life is a noble thing. The one most difficult—and most necessary—to achieve is to love one’s fellows despite all invitations to do otherwise.
[…]
True greatness merely refuses to change in the face of bad actions against one—and a truly great person loves his fellows because he understands them.
[…]
It requires real strength to love Man. And to love him despite all invitations to do otherwise, all provocations and all reasons why one should not.
Happiness and strength endure only in the absence of hate. To hate alone is the road to disaster. To love is the road to strength. To love in spite of all is the secret of greatness. And may very well be the greatest secret in this universe.”
Roger Hornaday says
I recall some of those quotes in which Hubbard uses the word, “love”. Thank you for proving the word was not completely absent from his lexicon. He said we must love our fellow man in spite of a strong inclination to do otherwise. Great advise from Jesus, the Buddha, Aristotle and my Aunt Betty, none of whom (to my knowledge) ever perpetrated an act of savagery equal to what was committed against Paulette Cooper. On the subject of love Hubbard wasn’t preaching revolutionary concepts therefore the only contribution he could have made on that subject would have been to live up to what he preached.
John Locke says
“A good, stable adult with love and tolerance in his heart is about the best therapy a child can have.”
This was always my favorite. Reminds me of El Con kidnapping his own child and threatening to her mother that he would kill her if mom didn’t do what he wanted.
And THEN, ensuring that parents who were his S.O. slaves were very UNSTABLE and impoverished. LMAO!

The Sgroi’s financed the lawsuit against the city and won some money to get a new mOrg. In the end the city paid 740k for the old building, instead of the 425k that was originally offered. So then the reg machine kicked in and every clam in the area was forced to ‘make it go right’, and new mOrg was crammed into a nice old building on Main St.
Just 1/2 a mile down the street from the current Buffalo mOrg, the city is redeveloping the area into a ‘hospital corridor’. Two or 3 hospitals are there and whole area has been full of construction workers for the last 2 or 3 years and construction will continue for 2 or 3 more. Meanwhile, the block around the mOrg is full of small businesses and office buildings and there is no foot traffic. The winter wind on that part of town is unbearable and parking on the street by the mOrg is usually impossible. Outside of the hospitals, there are only government buildings, bars and a re-re-re developed canal side near the lake. The famous Anchor Bar (home of chicken wings) is too far away to help the mOrg.
Buffalo and Cambridge Ontario and Toronto have shared clams with people going back and forth to do ‘classes’ at what ever city had the best exchange rate on Canadian vs US dollars. With wait times approaching 2 hours at the boarder, only dedicated Canadian shoppers come over any more. And they come only for the retail stores, not $cientology.
A Ontario community has refused to rezone to allow a NarCONon, Canadians are educated about the clampire, they keep away in hockey playoff droves. There are not enough clams in the area to support 3 Idle mOrgs.

Failure in the greater Toronto area. One dead Riverdale mission in East York, a neighbourhood of Toronto. The org closed on Yonge street and is now a small 2nd floor office on Peter Street, part of downtown. Miles away is Cambridge, and the empty idle org. Miles north in Mono is the AOSH. The same few people run between all these empty sites. So sad. So useless.
Al Brown says
Yes, as Mike says getting them from the test center to the main org don’t work. I experienced that. I joined staff at LA Org Day in 1992 and ran the test center on Hollywood Blvd for a couple of months. Becky Miscavige was on mission to man up the test center and she had gotten about a dozen staff there grooved in and working and she recruited me onto staff to run it. It was difficult even with this good staff at the TC. One of my successful actions was that I did barbecue on my grill at home and brought in tons of chicken legs and thighs to feed my hungry staff with at the TC. I would have continued at the TC but I got Urgent Directed into the main org onto the Exec Esto post. That’s the only time I’ve ever had a goldenrod issued on me giving me a promotion. I was OEC/FEBC so I was qual’ed. I still love LRH’s Data Series and the Esto tech. I think feeding the staff and ensuring the staff sleep good are most important. But it doesn’t seem the church has done that for a long time. That would probably boom the orgs. Maybe Cambridge could barbecue deer and feral cats that Mike speaks of.
Chris Mann says
Logically they would need to strtip it back to the basics. Can they take ONE new person through their product to a good result? I have seen time after time that my org cannot. I assume its the same for most or all orgs. So before they worry about new buildings or even body routing they need to figure out why their process isn’t working. Its set up like a business so they need to look at their concept. A “proof of concept”. Theirs isn’t working. You need something that people want and are willing to pay for, and you need to be able to produce it at a fair exchange so you can stay open and expand. They are “not-issing” that fact. They pretend that everybody wants it and worse, that everybody owes them something for nothing.
thegman77 says
Your last sentence really hits hard, Chris. My own thought is that they’re not “pretending”, but truly believe themselves.

Chris, Yup, it’s now a fundamentally flawed business model with no new people in core English speaking countries..
Its been a “bait and switch” organization with secrets at each OT level. But today there are no secrets. Bait and switch does not work for new people because most people actually want a happy life with their family intact…. Scientology is the antithesis of that…. improved family life is only “bait” to become a slave to the group…
Who will be the last whale to donate??? I don’t know, but they are not getting new whales, that’s for sure. Or, new minnows… Not even new algae.

Don’t try to make believe that without DM, it wouldbe better: it won’t ever.
DM got it “richer” than Under LRH by transforming it into a real estate office, with a minimumof staffs who could kill or attack him, and who do think he’s great.

They do have the 65-70 Sea Org to do the CLO Canada stuff. I’m sure the paperwork for all of Canada (8 gasping orgs and a dying few missions) keeps them busy, but perhaps they could squeeze in some Cambridge Org booming in their spare time?
After CLO Canada shifted out of the Toronto Org, they had a place in Caledon near the white elephant AOSH Canada location, but it was never verified that they moved into the AO when they moved out of Caledon. At least some of them could be in Cambridge.

This ‘strategy’ is as old as the first ‘stat push’ in scientology. I had first hand experience with it when I was deputized to go on a sea org mission along with another staff member from Stevens Creek in the 80s. We were sent to Reno and then South Lake Tahoe missions to ‘boom’ the place. Neither one of these places was doing anything so all it took to boom the stats was to go out and do a little body routing. All of a sudden, ‘bodies in the shop’ were straight up and vertical. We left and the place crashed and just continued doing what it was doing before. SUCCESS!!!!! That’s the only boom that anything using scientology management technology has ever experienced. Just focus (hill 10, all-hands, all night, everyone off their own post) on a specific area and the stats will go up. Totally unsustainable as shown by actual experience: Where are all the WISE companies that are bursting at the seams because of explosive growth? Where are all the scientology orgs, missions and groups that are bursting at the seams because of explosive growth? It’s just a matter of applying the only LRH advice that I have found useful. LOOK, DON”T LISTEN. I looked (finally) and got the hell out of there. Zero regrets, it was one of the best things that I have ever done for myself and others who had to endure me as a scientologist.

You have no idea how powerful it is when you join with a group that only has your own integrity and strength of conscience as it’s only agenda. Wonderful post. Who could forget the “Buffalo Strat”. Originally it meant “Reg Joe Sgroi for more dough and sec check the staff into oblivion”. Then it came to mean, “All orgs need to find a whale in their field, reg him till he bleeds while sec checking the staff into oblivion”. And it worked like a bomb. A real bomb. All across the US there is a trail of broken, failing orgs with field scientologists dug into holes so deep you would need fracking to bring them back to the surface. David Miscavige is the Master of Scientology Oblivion. Once you step back its completely obvious that he is systematically working through the structures of scientology and shredding the entire religion piece by piece. Right now he’s on the final stretch. He is just wrapped up shredding all smaller class v orgs into confetti and moving into shredding the larger class v orgs and smaller sea org orgs into dust. He handled the missions way back in the 80’s, field auditors and field groups he personally took out in the early 2000’s then he started on the class v orgs and has been working on them ever since. Kudos to DM! The man is like a terminator.

Espiando – Do you have a “thing” with me? I’d be happy to never have to hear or read anymore of your unconscionable driveling shit ever again.
Mike Rinder says
I would not take it personally, Espiando is an equal opportunity offender. He makes his views known — he thinks everything about L. Ron Hubbard and scientology is a fraud and a lie and intended to hurt people. And he likes to make that view known to everyone and particularly to those who don’t share his view.
But there is room for everyone to share their views and I really recommend that nobody be offended. I try to avoid allowing directly abusive comments, sometimes I miss. But the melting pot of ideas, views and opinions I believe is valuable. There are other sites that tend to be more opinionated on either side of the equation. Nobody has to read here. And you can even read the posts without reading the comments. Or choose to ignore commenters you aren’t interested in.
Espiando says
Well, Mike, all I will say in response is that in order for something to be unconscionable, one must have a conscience. I don’t. So I’ll just contest my dick-waving contest with L. Fraud by flaunting my degree in physics and the fact that I won more medals in my military career than he did.
Winning.
marildi says
Mike, I read your blog posts because they are informative – and funny (you still get a laugh out of me every time on “Food, glorious food!”). But I don’t read the comments except for a few people who I can count on to have something worth reading. Many others are just the same old generalized repetition of “LRH was a dick” “LRH was a dick” and then for variety “LRH was a dick”. It’s annoying because it’s boring and very juvenile, IMHO.
Espiando says
Marildi, you’ve made it plain to everyone here, at Marty’s, and at the South African blog that the health of your entire psyche is hinged on L. Fraud being infallible. I have no problem taking the screws off that hinge because of my personal animosity toward the words and works of Lafayette Ronald Hubbard. I don’t care about the consequences toward others of doing so. In other words, your Special Scilon Snowflake act doesn’t cut the mustard with me. There will be collateral damage, and like the good Anon that I am, I will revel in it.
And the things that I say? My posts are “LRH was a dick BECAUSE…”, and I give my reasons. Just because you don’t want to listen to my reasons does not mean they don’t exist. In Scilon terms, why should I grant beingness to you, because you don’t grant it to me?
marildi says
Espiando, does this mean you are willing to admit that at least one LRH principle – granting of beingness – was valid? If so, good choice on your part.
Okay, I’ll try to grant you beingness. Peace.
Aquamarine says
I’ve a couple of questions directed to anyone who believes it possible for L. Ron Hubbard and ALL of his tech to be ALL bad.
If someone believes that a person or a thing can be all bad, wouldn’t that person also operate on the belief that someone or something can be all good?
If one operates on the premise of the reality of ethical absolutes, i.e., if pure evil exists, then wouldn’t it follow that pure good exists as well?
Aquamarine says
Espiando, its hard to grant beingness to someone who habitually responds to something one has shared as if you were a deluded idiot.
Its not hard per se to grant beingness to someone with differing or opposing views. Plenty of people on this blog can do that, myself included.
You don’t just merely state your views, Espiando.
What you do is WAIT for the right pro-LRH comment, remaining silent until some commenter happens to offer something positive about LRH, or the tech, some positive opinion or experience related to Scientology, etc. and then you POUNCE.
Guerrilla tactics applied to a comm cycle 🙂
Not exactly conducive to the mutual granting of beingness in a comm cycle, but you’re far too intelligent and articulate to be unaware of this.
marildi says
Good post, Aquamarine. However, there are different types of intelligence, as described here:
“Have you ever noticed how unevenly developed virtually all of us are? Some people are highly developed in, say, logical thinking, but poorly developed in emotional feelings. Some people have highly advanced cognitive development (they’re very smart) but poor moral development (they’re mean and ruthless). Some people excel in emotional intelligence, but can’t add 2 plus 2.
“Howard Gardner made this concept fairly well-known using the idea of ‘multiple intelligences’. Human beings have a variety of intelligences, such as cognitive intelligence, emotional intelligence, musical intelligence, kinesthetic intelligence, and so on. Most people excel in one or two of those, but do poorly in the others. This is not necessarily or even usually a bad thing; part of integral wisdom is finding where one excels and thus where one can best offer the world one’s deepest gifts.
“But this does mean that we need to be aware of our strengths (or the intelligences with which we can shine) as well as our weaknesses (where we do poorly or even pathologically).”
https://www.integrallife.com/member/ken-wilber/blog/integral-operating-system-part-iii-lines-development
Each individual can and should be aware of the fact that just because they have a high intelligence in certain spheres in life, doesn’t mean they don’t have room to grow in others. JMO 🙂

Good one. But fracking? No, you’d need a deep sea oil rig to get some of these Kool Aid drinkers back from their mental and financial ruins. I know a guy whose last auditing was 44 intensives of sec checking. Imagine doing 44 intensives of digging and digging and digging a deeper and deeper hole of “what other bad things have I done?” That’s one guy. There are thousands more.
This religion not only needs to lose its religious status, it needs to lose its right to practice any form of mental therapy. In fact, David Miscavige should be sent to work for the CIA and teach them a few things about torture.

Mike –
You make a reasonable statement of moderation policy, but **perhaps** somewhat on the “ultimately it is” side of things. Ultimately, yes, it seems to be that one must take responsibility for all, and responsibility is its own reward, “fair” or not. And so the most productive have the largest percentage of fairly won exchange taken away from them in taxes. The most public personages must be the most careful of what they say, or do not say, doctors must be the most cautious to not be sued, and those who would most benefit mankind must be the most wary to not be mob-murdered. But that does not make all that “ultimately it is” right, or just, or “fair.”.
When someone insists that white is black, that capitalism is the ruination of mankind, that there is 64X expansion, that money is evil, and generally ridicules anyone who speaks differently, ridicules anyone who holds correctly that white is white, that capitalism since the 1600’s has raised the standard of living of those who adopted it, who holds that there is no 64X expansion, that money is a medium of exchange … is it not incumbent upon the responsible people to draw lines, responsibly? How can one not reply with the truth? Is there no right, and no wrong? Is there always freedom to ridicule? How is it right, in current context, to ridicule Mohamed, but not homosexuals?
Most societies do draw lines at some point, and regardless of the right to freedom, those who persist in stealing have their freedom revoked. When those lines are not drawn, in many instances, the society has no agreements, and descends into anarchy, ruled by the one with the sharpest ridicule, the biggest arm. Until someone steps in and shows an even bigger arm, backed by those who have grown sick of anarchy and abuse, and establishes rules and guideline which allow individuals to produce without being ridiculed and stolen from.
Or in simpler terms, there is a difference between reasonable viewpoints to the contrary of popular belief, and mere heckling. Hecklers who throw cream-puffs and shoes and confetti are removed. Those removed probably do not like it, but perhaps some do like it (and must certainly expect it no matter how ‘insane’ they might otherwise be), because it prevents them from committing further indecencies. . “Everyone cannot speak at once” is taught in grammar schools, but on blogs …? If every heckler is given a voice, reasonable people will leave because the assemblage is non-productive.
I do not expect you to change anything in your moderation policies just because I question how they may make me feel. I don’t run a blog, and I have no first-hand experience, and I have no idea what you may indeed moderate out. I do not know how the political winds blow. Perhaps the society at large, in blogs, is developing a new round of experience in how to handle hecklers, and how to deal with what many would call “counter-productive activities” which certainly do exist. There are those who are counter-productive, those who blow up bridges in the “name of the people!” There are those in positions of power within the establishment who steal. In all cases, though, these are a minority, and in most cases are stopped.
I am just offering my viewpoint. I regret responding harshly and “taking the bait” “Espiando” floated out. But I have never addressed him, and my simple reply to “Time Out” was trolled. My viewpoint here may be wordy, tl;dr and if someone says that, fine. That’s not the same as “Yeah, sure … in your Tinker Bell world.”
Mike Rinder says
Thoughtful and sensible response Nickname. Thanks.
Moderating is not always easy. It is a job that is also hampered by time limitations and the ability to be able to carefully read what is written. My tendency is to allow a free flow of communication and let everyone sort out their own views on things. If you dislike what one commenter says consistently, stop reading them or read them with an “I know I am going to disagree with this because I think that person is rubbish” attitude. I think Espiando could do to chill a bit — but he tends to keep his comments about the subjects at hand rather than simply ad hominem toward the person he is responding to (though I do understand that effectively saying your brain is mush because you have a certain view he doesnt share is sort of ad hominem) and if you can’t stomach it then spend your time reading elsewhere.
And I of course do not agree that anyone has the right to lie or take advantage of people and that anarchists who want to blow up bridges just because they think it will be fun is not something that should just be watched.
Communication is healthy…
marildi says
Eloquent post, Nickname.
Roger Hornaday says
If somebody refers to the person you hold in high esteem as, “L. Fraud Flunkout”, why not advance an argument explaining why you object to it and why he shouldn’t do it?
John Locke says
Nickname, asked “When someone insists that white is black, that capitalism is the ruination of mankind, that there is 64X… is it not incumbent upon the responsible people to draw lines, responsibly? … Most societies do draw lines at some point, and regardless of the right to freedom. “Everyone cannot speak at once” is taught in grammar schools, but on blogs …? So, What “lines” in society and, how exactly to enforce? Interesting line of “thought”. Equating speech with blowing up bridges… Hmm. DO tell Nickname.

I still can’t believe that with all the signs slapping, nay SMASHING, these Kool Aid drinkers in the face, they still are content to follow the flock and walk their mental health and finances off the cliff like lemmings.
What can it take for people to wake up? Is the only thing that can end all these lies and pain the eventual death of David Miscavige from the fabulous combination of chain smoking, too many sunbed hours, mild steroid use and drinking far too much good whiskey?
I can’t believe the charade is still going.
I simply can’t.

The Ideal Orgs must be redone entirely, so that they look the same, and provide an easily recognizable image, like McDonalds. That’s the real why. Of course people don’t walk in! They are unable to recognize them as the Church of Scientology! They think they’re embassies, or banks.
RolandRB says
Ideal Orgs are only Ideal in the sense that they are ripe to be upgraded into Ideal Ideal Orgs. Then three years after that into All-Ideal Ideal Orgs. Then three years after that into GAT III All-Ideal Ideal Orgs.
Chee Chalker says
Nick, I think you just gave DM his next fundraising idea…….give us all your money in order to brand Ideal Orgs so that people know they are Scientology ‘churches’
The only problem.with that is the fact that the only reason public go into an org is exactly because they do NOT know it is a Scientology entity.
If we are talking about branding……the ‘brand’ of Scientology is toxic. Beyond toxic. Anyone with any knowledge of current events is not going to go near a Scientology org, other than as a joke among friends.
I think the whole idea behind making the orgs so opulent was to trick people into thinking they were anything BUT Scientology orgs (i.e. banks, embassies, etc) (Well, that and to please Tom Cruise who was embarrassed to being his friends into shitty looking buildings…….I actually agree with Cruise on that one. The Chicago org (not the ‘Ideal’ one….that org has been under construction for 8 years now) looks like a second hand clothing store).
Making the orgs uniform would make things worse from a public perspective, but it would give DM another reason to raise money……..as if he needs one

Can an insider reveal what happens at these pot luck lunches?
I imagine it’s like this. I, being regged out of every cent and desperately trying to make this month’s rent, bring mac and cheese (using the minimum amount of cheese I think I can get away with), planning to hog out on someone else’s awesome beef casserole with gravy, rich clam chowder, or chili beans and fresh bread rolls, only to find out that the other dishes are a plate of stale sandwiches, boiled spaghetti (no sauce), and a can of corned beef.
Am I close?

LOL — master of Wrong Whys. So true. If Miscavige wanted to improve things he would start with the Man in the Mirror: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P5vz6iwV38U
Old Surfer Dude says
He’s a complete failure. He’s ALWAYS been a failure. He relies on the sheeple not pulling back the curtain to reveal that there is no Wizard of OZ. He’s a degenerate, psychotic, sociopath midget who beats his staff and enjoys it. ‘Sick’ doesn’t even come close to describing this runt.
Alex Castillo says
Miscavige is not ignorant of Evaluation Tech. The truth is he cannot possibly correctly evaluate because if he did, he would have to expose himself as the Why and the Who for the disgraceful state of his “Ideal” empty buildings. His Ethics Why would also have to expose him as a con artist criminal who destroyed Scientology and substituteded it with ponzy scheme designed to rob as many people as he can. And that’s why his “church” is crashing around the world.
Alex Castillo says
Stat push, see my reply to Old Surfer.
statpush says
Alex, never said he was ignorant of eval “tech”, I just implied he was incapable of getting the end result of said technology. Personally I don’t think DM or anyone else does proper Data Series evals anymore. And if they do, they are either incorrect or the “tech” of the Data Series is not what it seems.
But, I’m of the opinion that the Data Series is over-hyped, along with Hubbard’s revolutionary admin technology.

LA org is a failure wrapped in a disaster covered in ignorance.
Lawrence says
As is the “norm” for the Church of Scientology, the usual comedians show up to make believe they are skilled administrators so they can make believe they are delivering LRH technology to people ethically. This fact of course everyyone that should know it to protect themselves from it, just about knows by now. Some people in the church have committed murder on their FELLOW PARISHIONERS to this effect. The Church of Scientology is preposterous! 🙂 And RUDE to people on top of it! 🙂
Starship says
With this failure right under the noses of the LA and celebrity scios, you’d think the penny would drop. Perhaps it has and I just don’t know about it. I have a friend who lives in LA, “OT 8”. I wonder if she’s seeing or if she’s just not capable of looking. I suspect it’s the latter.
