This is a new one even for me. It is indicative of how panic-stricken they are.
I was alerted to this by a reader who sent me the following message:
Mike,
Just an fyi.
I thought that I was ordering your book ahead of time on Amazon. Instead my order actually went through with an estimated receive date!? It took a little longer, and I received a thin, rudimentary, mostly black book with the name Wesley Deane on the bottom. Right away, I realized I was scammed by CO$. I read it. It seemed like a poorly written grouping of meaningless paragraphs of unfavorable comments and yes, unctuously positive blather about COB here and there. Wesley self-copyrighted the book North Haven CT 01 August 2022. The ISBN number is 9798841142355. When I looked back on Amazon, your name was on it as the author with Wesley Deane at the bottom, now that is missing on line. The whole thing seems a bit nuts.
I loved the summary: “a poorly written grouping of meaningless paragraphs of unfavorable comments and yes, unctuously positive blather about COB here and there.”
Though they don’t have a copy of the book, they claim to have put together a “summary” to “help” people out. Oh, what good people they are.
Here is where you can order the real book or audiobook (and for those who keep asking, yes, I recorded it myself!) and have it delivered on 27 September.

Here is another terrible book they’ve made:

He also authored one on Leah & Mike comparing their ‘attacks’ to those of Nazis and the KKK. Disgusting stuff:

There are several fakes now on Amazon UK, and a take-down attempt named “A Billion Lies” with a weird rant review supposedly from Mike’s ex-wife 😀
BadBilly says
Mike- will you be offering signed hardbacks for sale?
Bobby D says
Yep sure will. ! I love my fans and love to spread truth and honesty. People deserve to k led what they are doing. You guys are the best. Just love my fans ♥️♥️♥️

I “looked inside” one of the fake books, which appears to contain text stolen from the back cover of the real book. They replaced many of the words with loquacious synonyms, and changed the word order around so it sounds stranger than Yoda talking.
This could have been done automatically by a computer program that could publish a million books a month this way. However, the reported praise of Miscavige inside would prove it’s a cult psy-op.
Christi Gordon says
AmazonUk version is authored by Kevin Parker. Now has a disclaimer that it’s not the original book, just a thoughtful summary. Could it be reported, or not worth it? Seems so fraudulent to buyers. I would think Amazon wouldn’t want or allow it. I see you the owner could report infringement of intellectual property.
Ammo Alamo says
I typed in “Summary of” in the Amazon Books Search field. Lo and behold, there are pages and pages of “Summary of…” books sold on Amazon, covering every book and topic under the sun. My favorite is ‘Summary of the Seven Habits of Highly Effective People” which is all of seven pages in length. Ooops, my mistake – 76 pages.
Much to my surprise, there is gritty competition between publishers of “Summary of” books. It’s not Cliff Notes vs Spark Notes, but close. ExecutiveGrowth Summaries claims “Team of professional native-English writers and editors (a huge issue on Amazon; check the reviews of ANY other summary book company to see for yourself).” OK, yes, we know about those non-natives and how they manage to get flub simple American – the British have been making colourful mistakes ever since we sent them packing way back when.
OK, so there are some Summaries that are at least semi-legit. But the genuine ones at least try to be helpful Summaries, writing about books that have been in print for some time. Scientology is telling vacuous lies, using their imagination to create a book that frankly does not exist in publication yet. They want to slam it before it gets out of the gate.
Aquamarine says
@Ammo,
Reading your comment it just occurred to me that the fake hit job in disguise “Summary” booklet the cult has put out is very likely targeted for Scientologists to read. i can see this booklet being recommended, or possibly even mandated as what they CAN read, what they can SAFELY read ABOUT Mike’s book without compromising their Bridge, or otherwise getting into Ethics trouble, etc. The cult’s “summary” could also serve as the cult’s “Dead Agent” pack to be shown on a “need to know” individual basis and/or in “closed door briefings” to those who inquire to org staff about the actual book. If the forementioned are its purposes, then having it for sale on Amazon gives the data (all false) the patina of legitimacy. Or, wait; what am I thinking? Maybe the cult will actually be SELLING it within the Class V orgs, or via Bridge Publications!

Oh my goodness Mike, it’s like Captain DM has never met you. This will only draw more attention to your book. He can’t come out of his drunken coma long enough to realize that you, and all the ex cult members here, know his pattern all too well, and he doesn’t scare any of you (gee, that’s gotta burn 🙂 ).
Just keep poking the bears Captain DM. Your ship is sinking.
SL1978 says
Mike I am curious how long it took you to read it (audiobook)? I have done some voice over items sometimes and surprisingly it takes a while. Other days a page takes 3 minutes, no re-takes and you’re out.
Would you say it took you 10-50-100 hours? Just curious.
Mike Rinder says
About 50 hours of recording I would guess.
safetyguy says
How predictable was this? Very predictable. Typical reaction when a cult is scared to death that the truth will continue to come out. They can not succeed unless they have total control over what is written or believed.
Mike, they are playing checkers while you are playing a superb game of chess. Thanks for what yo do.
grisianfarce says
Checkers? Too advanced. COB only knows how to play Tiddlywinks where you press down on the pieces until they fly off.

Just saw your comment and this reply is a bit late, but…
I’m thinking Miscavage is constantly engaged in the game of whack-a-mole. Desperately and constantly trying to crush every PR disaster and shitstorm that comes his way.
It’s quite a satisfying thought!
Mary Kahn says
The book hasn’t even been released yet. If david msicavige’s crimes weren’t so egregious, I would think his tactics were funny. David miscavige has a way of shooting foot bullets whenever the heat is turned up and the light of truth is on him. Although, I do have to say that he shot off more than a foot when he went after Alex Gibney’s documentary and Leah’s Aftermath series.
onceuponatime says
Wow, that’s pretty pathetic, even for Scientology. I guess they really are terrified of this book!
otherles says
When I wrote articles for a political publication I had to use a pseudonym. This “Wesley Deane” is likely a pseudonym.
Susan says
There are actually 6 versions of this “Summary of a Billion Years…” each with a different author name or pen name.
Mike Rinder says
Yes, I saw this. Going to do another post about it.
Aquamarine says
Mike, I just found the sham “Summary” booklet for sale on Amazon and the author is NOW listed as “Judith J. Walker”. No more “Wesley Deane” or Mike Rinder! I suppose within a short time the cult will post ANOTHER fake name as author. Amazing. Pathetic. Well, here we have Hubbard’s “The Wrong Thing To Do Is Nothing” policy is action. I suppose OSA is under immense pressure to do SOMETHING, and they have to keep changing the name of the author so they don’t get sued?
Aquamarine says
Edit: “…policy IN action.”
chuck beatty XenuCausedTheWallofFire says
David Miscavige beat Mike Rinder more times than anyone else at Scientology’s headquarters.
That is why Cathy ex wife is playing her cry wolf arm damage story. To deflect OFF of David Miscavige’s sociopathic behaviour massive amounts of staff beatings Miscavige did to top people at Scientology headquarters.
it’s a cover, it’s deflection.
I hope to HECK the interviewers that interview Mike remember to ask about Miscavige’s beatings!!!!!
It is despicable that Miscavige is allowed to reign over a faux religion. He should step aside!
The media need to bring up Miscavige’s beatings of Mike, until Miscavige resigns.
Aquamarine says
Brave little David beating up evil Goliath Mike Rinder! Brave little David venting his spleen, knowing all the while that if anything goes wrong, his body guards are nearby. What a guy! He must be so proud of himself! He can punch any of his slaves to his heart’s content with those tiny little fists of his, provided his enforcers are standing back and standing by to make sure HE never gets hurt.
otherles says
The grunts I trained with at Fort Benning in the spring of 1982 could have taken down the bodyguards surrounding DM without harming a hair on his head.
Aquamarine says
I hear you, otherles 🙂

If DM still has Talon, I would not go against them.
x Team Xenu Chuck Beatty 75 to 03 says
I have respect for genuine ex military and ex intel and ex FBI and ex all US govt people.
They should protect against psychos and violence, good that they do their jobs for clients. They are innocent of Scientology’s inherent flaws.
The Scientology group is the unworthy client factually.
Until Scientology dissolves, and/or the nastiness internal laws in Scientology evaporate, leaving only just the quackery pseudo-therapy and exorcism practicing followers, and Scientology loses their backlash causing combative fair gaming counter attack Hubbard doctrines and Scientology loses their whole OSA and DSA sub bureaucratic units that do the Hubbard nasty doctrines, Scientology will be deserving of opprobrium and not worthy of praise as a group.
Scientology if they just stuck to their quackery, and kept a smile on their faces, and just did that, they’d not need hired Talon professionals.
The predicament is L. Ron Hubbard’s massive writings making the whole sub bureaucracy of OSA and the DSA and “Ethics” unit personnel and the whole lineup of combative staff to staff rules, member to member penalty rules, all accumulates into the continuing backlashing controversies Scientology self generates.
It is L. Ron Hubbard’s writings specifically in the Hubbard “Knowledge Reports” policy, which frames internal staff to staff violence, and it is violence that Miscavige took literally as to be executed, and the late Denise Brennan confirmed that the atmosphere in 1982 (and a little before) when Miscavige had begun that violence personally against other high officials in Scientology.
(But the Sea Org violence, Hubbard on the Apollo per report lost his marbles a few times, kicking and punching Otto Roos, and another time at least, throttling Mike Douglas.)
Hubbard wrote the writings that spurred this violence, and it’s still on the books, and the 1982 ish “Knowledge Reports” writing is in the current edition of the Scientology Ethics Book that all followers are to use as guidelines.
This is institutionalized staff to staff physical harm option allowed by the irreligious immoral writings by Hubbard, that on are the books, and a bad person like Miscavige implemented the violence Hubbard authorized options.
It’s a deep long range problem for Scientology, it’s Hubbard’s doings, and bad leaders in Scientology see fit to implement these violent options.
I wish there were a booklet to send to the PIs and hired Talon staff, letting them know of this backfiring Scientology Founder Hubbard’s flawed violent staff behaviour options, will forever cause backlash, on top of psychos who wish random harm on leaders for which Talon provides normal leaders of groups protection.
The Scientology predicaments and backlash is self made, baked into Scientology doctrines.
I’m not sure how Talon chooses to do business with which organization and if they would even someday choose not to do business for Scientology.
In a way, at least ex US govt people know how to behave, that’s my impression, and they would not ever buy into the Hubbard “Knowledge Reports” violence authorized option if they ever were ordered to do it. Scientologists yes, but I doubt Talon employees would say yes, and salute, and execute the violence option in “Knowledge Reports” policy by Hubbard.
Cayden says
The cult has to resort to these pathetic acts of desperation as they simply can not survive honestly. If they tried to survive honestly, they would’ve died back in the 1950’s.
These tactics don’t work anymore. People not only see through them, but it also confirms it’s a desperate cult crumbling and clinging for life.
It’s over. Especially with all that’s to come in the next few months.
Claire Swazey says
Holy crap. At any rate, I can see why they’re running scared. There’ve been many damaging memoirs but yours has to be the most revealing. It’s gonna be lit!
jim rowles says
Pretty incredible!
Are you going to Declare Wesley Deane for squirreling your as-yet-not-available book?
Be ready for some ‘critical’ reviews on Amazon, etc. once the book is on the market.
Can the second copy I buy be donated to the Clearwater public library?
paineite says
Keep your chin up and your eyes above the horizon, Mike. Wish you well.
GL says
I also did some checking and (X-Files theme playing) mysteriously the book that “summarises” another book that hasn’t even been printed yet has disappeared and, so it appears, has the even more mysterious Wesley Deane. Very mysterious.
Aquamarine says
This is all incredible. I’d bet money there is no “Wesley Deane”. Sounds like a fake name to me. Very likely there is no such person and its someone in OSA who was picked to perpetrate this scam. Would not Amazon be responsible for sorting this situation out and making financial restitution for this prank?
SacrificedChild says
The book seems to be back on amazon, with a different author name, and a notice added to the top of the description. Poor Wesley Deane, so easily lost and quickly erased.
Aquamarine says
@GL,
I just checked and “Summary of” etc. has just resurfaced with – surprise! A new author!
“Judith J. Walker”.
Same booklet (29 pages) new author!
I wonder what happened to Wesley Deane? LOL. And in a few days, will yet ANOTHER author pop up?
And I wonder how the cult is handling the copyright issue! I mean, is it legal to just make up a name as the author of a publication one is selling on Amazon? Is it legal to CHANGE the name of the author of a publication one is selling on Amazon?
Forgive what might be stupid questions. I’m not at all knowledgeable about such matters.
SacrificedChild says
Oh my goodness, I’m so wrong! I happened to glance at the post again as I scrolled up, and the book in question was “self-copyrighted… 01 August 2022”
The book I’m looking at on Amazon right now was published July 14, 2022, with a different number, ISBN-13 : 979-8840704264
Title on the Amazon page: “Summary of A Billion Years: My Escape From a Life in the Highest Ranks of Scientology by Mike Rinder”
GL says
Just did another quick check on Amazon for “Summary of A Billion Years: My Escape From a Life in the Highest Ranks of Scientology by Mike Rinder” and the following has now appeared:
https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Dstripbooks-intl-ship&field-keywords=Summary+of+A+Billion+Years%3A+My+Escape+From+a+Life+in+the+Highest+Ranks+of+Scientology+by+Mike+Rinder
There is the hilariously 17 page old style toilet paper tied to a piece of string hard hitting (snort, snigger, chortle) “Analysis and Study guide of A Billion Years: Study guide of My Escape From a Life in the Highest Ranks of Scientology by Mike Rinder ” by the mysterious Jane Alexander. Ooh, how spooky (insert Twilight Zone theme here).
The Jane Alexander listed as “author” on Amazon is not this Jane Alexander listed on Amazon, https://www.amazon.com/Jane-Alexander/e/B001K7YVXY%3Fref=dbs_a_mng_rwt_scns_share
I see the very mysterious not a real person Kevin Parker is releasing his version of “Summary of…”at the end of the month.
Absolutely, but not unexpected, pathetic bullshit from the decaying corpse that $camology.
