Take Scientology’s advice — watch The Aftermath and see what is REALLY going on in scientology. Don’t listen to the propaganda spewed by scientology in the media or on their websites.
Watch those who personally experienced scientology up close and personal.
It is so appropriate they say this because it captures exactly what has happened to scientology — their PR has taken a fatal hit they will never recover from because people have been able to see the truth. Such irony, but lacking any ability to introspect or confront the reality before their very eyes, they continue to make utter fools of themselves while smugly certain they are the smartest people in any room.
The “coolest religion on earth” is once again making itself look foolish and they remain oblivious.
AnaF says
“The coolest religion on earth” is a FANTASTICALLY uncool expression. Aggressively dorky. And not in a “cute” way.
Impossible to see it written down without bursting into laughter. Talk about irony.

The very fact that these billboards are going up is simply further admission that they are under serious attack.
And bearing in mind the target audience for these are the whales, it’s not something you really want to be promoting to them, is it?
Unless of course scientology isn’t actually making them brighter….
Aquamarine says
If we’re not supposed to believe what we hear but only what we see, does that mean that Scientology TV has no sound? Are they regressing into the Silent Film era?
Dumb and dumber with these signs…don’t the Whales have ANY brains left and why the hell am even I asking a dumb question like this?
Its just that its so difficult to grasp how…alright, never mind.
Karakorum says
Heh, I think going back to the silent era would only make scientology TV better.
I mean it cannot conceivably get any worse.
Scribe says
First no audio, then no video, then presto, no Scientology TV!

AnonyMaker says
I still can’t make sense of this. Scientology’s problem is mostly what people are seeing on Aftermath, Going Clear, South Park, and so on – including on the covers of magazines in store checkout lanes. That’s what’s actually reaching millions, not what is being heard through conversations and rumors; websites, podcasts, and critical books reach a smaller though more activist crowd, that poses its own problems for Scientology, but not ones that could possibly be fixed with a bit of counter-propaganda like ScnTV.
Or do they really somehow believe that their problem lies with something like a whispering campaign started by psychs?
Of course, the most logical explanation, as some have already suggested, is that though this is a public billboard, it’s really for internal consumption by the membership, in an attempt to show that management is “doing something” – and that all that money is going somewhere.
Robert King says
I see ALOT of ex members very upset , I see broken families, I see private eyes, bullies harassing ex members, I see hurt mother’s and fathers who have lost their lives ones to a cult that practices disconnection. I see people going broke, paying for services that are WAY over priced, I seen how the tech has been changed constantly…. I seen razor sharp fences to keep your cult members from leaving.
Yea Miscavage I’ve seen ALOT. It doesn’t look good from we here I sit.
Jenyfurrr says
Well said! Good points that, beyond even Aftermath which is an incredible look at the inner workings and how consistent they are in “practice” (abuse), the greatest example too simply SEE is by viewing their own members. Not just exes…
Went Clear...ly Out of Scientology says
Heh Scientology – we are in St Louis and we are looking. We don’t like what we see. Scientology – you LIE!
Scientology lied to members and convinced us that we NEEDED an Ideal Org over a decade ago. We had to have it. We were expanding.
We were not expanding. We were shrinking.
Scientology lies. Scientology is a scam. There are no clears or ot’s either. Just look at the people still in. They are robots that cannot and will not think for themselves.
Scientology now tells us they are selling the building in St Louis and we are staying in our current location after many people gave hundreds of thousands towards the new Ideal Org. Some gave millions. Some gave their inheritance. Many went into debt. Many have financially ruined their lives.
Don’t believe anything Scientology tells you – members and lurkers.
You will get hurt.
Many people gave all they had and went into deep debt for the St Louis Ideal Org renovations.
Scientology collected over $16,000,000 from members.
Now they are keeping the sale price a secret so we don’t find out.
Be prepared for more fundraising.
Cindy says
Went Clear…ly, I feel your frustration and betrayal. I wonder if this might be the angle we get DM arrested for fraud: Fundraising $16 Million for a building that never happened, and then changing their mind and sold the building and pocketed the rest of the money from hard working people who went bankrupt helping out for something that never materialized. This is fraud to me. But because they intimidated the IRS into giving them church status, they can’t be brought up on charges that most others would be brought up on. They hide behind their religious label and do overts, many many.
Skyler says
Does anyone know of any organized effort to get some of the candidates in the next Presidential election to promise to review and/or revoke their Tax Exempt Status in return for our votes?
I would think a Presidential election would be an excellent opportunity for us to try and get a promise the IRS will review and/or revoke their absurd Tax Exempt Status.
Wynski says
St. Louis org has been dead for almost 40 years now. Remember when it got moved out to that store front on road in the middle of nowhere with ZERO foot traffic? An that was at the absolute height of active scamology membership. Who would give lots of money decades after the collapse for a large org building when there are basically no scamologists in the area? It boggles the mind.
nomnom says
If I were still in and I saw that billboard, I would ask myself “How can I take responsibilty for what is said about Scientology when I’m not even allowed to see or read it?”.
Kat LaRue says
Scientology is in the ‘end days’. Every way they turn, they are butting up against opposition, bad PR and tripping over their own feet. I truly think that they cant get out of their way and are their own worst enemy. I think the bubble dwellers and public have started to dwindle, and as each year passes, their numbers get smaller and smaller. Miscavige is so lacking in insight, he cant even make a billboard that draws people in or makes them want to find out about the cult- just the opposite, his followers are taking it as an invitation to do what they haven’t dared to do before- look. And instead of seeing the error, he stubbornly refuses to look around or take it down. It must be nice and snug in his penthouse where he can hide from the world like Howard Hughes.
Kat
Karakorum says
All of what you write is true. For scn to survive in the lonmg run, it would need sweeping reforms that would make it more like all the sensible philosophies and religions out there.
Yet this would require an internal paradigm shift, which is impossible because:
1. DM and his circle are corrupt and incompetent.
2. Hubbard’s policies are already “set in stone” scriptures, which makes reform harder.
3. There is no permission for internal discussion, constructive criticism or implementing policy or admin suggestions made by staff and SO members.
Thus we have policy implemented by bad leadership resulting in a bad process.
The whole system is just becoming more and more absurd, inefficient and bureaucratic. It lacks the tools to reform and improve itself.
AnonyMaker says
I think the problem is, such reforms would kill Scientology. It’s the pressure and repression that hold it together now; for instance, a large number of UTRs, perhaps as much as half the current membership, would leave almost immediately if not compelled to stay.
The CofS would just end up going the way of all the attempts to set up independent Scientology groups, whittled down to a handful of diehards. There’s virtually zero interest in the failed “subject” itself.
Wynski says
Karakorum you cannot reform a scam. If I had a scam selling dehydrated water, how would you “reform” that? It you did there would be NOTHING left.
Old Surfer Dude says
I believe you, Kat. Scientology is yesterday’s rolled up newspaper. When I paid a visit to the Orange County Idle Morgue, not a smile was visible.
Aquamarine says
Irony so thick it was laid on by a trowel.

Here’s a suggestion: when you get a promo piece that has a business reply form, write something and drop it in the mail. Each one costs them $ to get it back.

Cheers.

However, if you ever learn the monster was assassinated, please come here lickety split and make as many jokes as you like. I’ll be waiting.
Ms. B. Haven says
Somebody is in deep shit here. They have gone and twisted the sacred words of the Founder. This is out-KSW and a Tech Degrade. As Ron so accurately uttered, “LOOK, DON’T LISTEN”, not this squirrel gibberish on a lousy billboard.
Even with this disgusting Alter-Is of Source, I would admonish every Scientologist to follow this advice closely. After doing so, even a Fool could see that there is a world class con going on here and is doing quite well since its inception in 1950.
No ‘clears’, no ‘OTs’, no increased abilities, no cures for whatever ails ya, no front porch of eternity, no past lives revealed, no influence on society, no pride in being a scientologist, etc. etc. Only empty promises and bank accounts.
To paraphrase my dear old dad, “if you hold out your hands with wishes (the cult’s promises) in one and shit in the other, see which one fills up first”.
Aquamarine says
“…no pride in being a Scientologist…”
That’s for sure! All mention of Scientology SCRUBBED from the social media of many of them, famous or pedestrian. I personally know of 5 Scientologists – Still In, decades long, died in the wool KA drinkers, 3 of whom are 30 year Class V org staff members – and there is not a WORD, not a WHISPER of their Scientology affiliations on their Facebook and Linkedin pages. They’re not famous and they’re not young and they’re certainly not rich. None of them have ever stuck with any job. They just go from one thing to the next, “making it go right” so that they can scrape by materially while getting their auditing, or “making it go right” to be on staff (“This is not a job. Its a trust and a crusade”.) They’ve each spent their entire adult lives in Scientology , they’ve given their entire adult lives to Scientology, one way or another, and…not a WHISPER about their cult affiliation on the Internet. Outpoint, much?
Their dead silence about COStells me they’re embarrassed and ashamed to be associated with the Church of Scientology and in fear that any prominent link up of them to the cult will LOSE THEM BUSINESS.
So if these ordinary sheeple are embarrassed, think how embarrassed the Whales and Celebs are.
Ms. B. Haven says
Well Aqua, at least these folks who are hiding their scientology affiliation are not complete fools. There are still some major fools out there though like this video of David Pomeranz clearly shows. Here he is in Times Square getting the word out but having zero success.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ZCl6_5gdRA
My guess is that he isn’t just doing this on a whim as a very lame form of musical ‘body routing’, he’s probably doing it as part of another set of ‘lowers’. One has to wonder how many times a cultie has to do ‘lowers’ AGAIN before they finally get it and REALLY do Hubbard’s ‘doubt formula’. I hate to generalize here, but I really can’t see how someone could honestly do a ‘doubt formula’ and stay in the cult. When I finally did it honestly I was out for good. I didn’t bother turning anything in to the ‘ethics officer’ I just packed my bags and hit the road. One of the most productive and best moves of my life. Even with some serious ups and downs since then I can honestly say that life has gotten better everyday.
Aquamarine says
You’re right, Ms. B, they’re not complete fools. They KNOW how toxic the cult PR is. Why else are they not trumpeting their affiliation? They have to know.
Now, Pomerantz is just a total shill who makes his entire living as a cult shill, so there’s nothing he won’t do and nowhere he won’t go.
You said, “…I really can’t see how someone could honestly do a ‘doubt formula’ amd stay in the cult.”
Neither can I!
(This deserves some exclam tech.)
NEITHER CAN I !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
When I told my org EO that I was doing a Doubt Formula on the church, she looked at me, HORRIFIED. “You’re in DOUBT?” (emphasis hers) she whispered, her eyes wide with fear. ” Yean”, I said. “I’m doing a Doubt Formula – so what?” Apparently, being informed that I was in Doubt was all she needed to know. Being in Doubt WAS my crime! Keep in mind that she was ex-Sea Org, volunteering as an EO because my org didn’t have one. She wasn’t staff – couldn’t be staff because the Sea Org had fitness boarded her. Her reaction didn’t make sense then but it sure tipped me off that I’d better do that Doubt Formula pronto!
Let me end this comment by saying, “Thanks, Meg! ” (not her name). “Your look of horror at my being in a condition of Doubt really helped me get OUT of Doubt, and out of your f**king cult”.
Markets the Truth says

Scientologists – “Don’t believe what you HEAR – believe what you see”
Don’t let Scientology control what you see.
Why don’t you LOOK and see for yourself.

$cientology thrived in its early days by hooking those who who did seek for themselves. Only a small percentage actually fell for the scam, but they did hook in enough new meat to replace the old meat. There are so many little scams running that picking one to submit to is difficult.
This billboard perfectly reflects everything Lron taught. That it is totally ineffective today is besides the point. A bad point for them and good point for body politic.
Good old $cientology, still running the 1950’s playbook in 2019.
Mary Kahn says
That billboard is hilarious. If people read it and thought, “Okay I’ll watch their channel.” they would walk away from watching it thinking, “The church of scientology is whack.” So yea, go ahead watch its stupid channel but take a NoDoz before you do.

So sorry Mary. But I must disagree.
IMO, watching their idiotic TV station is a good substitute for a sleeping pill.
Oh wait. I guess that means that I do agree.
Sorry.

Of course, the bikes were titanium frame, carbon fiber rims and everything a mere mortal can not dream about. But made of unobtanium for sea org staff members!
