Miscavige marionette Karin Pinocchio Pouw has issued another patented ad hominem attack to the media as a “response’ to the lawsuit filed last Friday.
Quote from the Tampa Bay Times article:
Church spokeswoman Karin Pouw said Wednesday that the church had not been served with the lawsuit. But she added: “Based on your questions, the complaint filed in Texas is nothing more than a pathetic get-rich scheme cooked up by unemployed blogger Marty Rathbun, a self-admitted suborner of perjury who is now resorting to using his wife in an attempt to extort money from the church.”
And she is quoted at the end of the article with this:
Pouw, the church spokeswoman, said Rathbun has “shopped made-up tales and myths to virtually every media outlet” since he left the church in 2004. She said he is frustrated the church is flourishing, having opened 37 new churches worldwide in recent years.
Not only are these responses becoming predictably boring, they highlight a few other facts:
1. They even have to lie about not having seen the lawsuit. Why? The usual response by a defendant when they are informed about a lawsuit they REALLY haven’t seen is to withhold comment until they have a chance to read it. There is no way they have NOT seen this lawsuit — even if they only got it off Tony Ortega’s blog which they follow by the second.
But, the arrogance of Miscavige knows no bounds. Without seeing the lawsuit he already KNOWS it is “nothing more than a pathetic get-rich scheme”. I don’t think anyone in the world who reads that complaint or Monique’s affidavit attached is going to believe this is a “get-rich scheme.”
2. They don’t even do the usual “We deny everything that is said” in fact they deny NOTHING.
3. The ad hominem statement really supports the allegations made in the complaint. A typical footbullet that Miscavige just cannot prevent himself from letting fly. The complaint is all about how the church targets people for personal assault for no other reason than who they associate with.
4. The “best” denial they can come up with is that MARTY has “shopped tales and myths to virtually every media outlet” — I guess this is intended to somehow imply this is all just lies? But it is NOT Marty saying it and it is NOT said to the media? It is a complaint filed in court with an affidavit signed under penalty of perjury by Mosey….
5. Finally, no bs statement from the church would be complete without repeating the LIE that they have opened (and re-opened) 37 new churches in recent years. They haven’t opened a SINGLE NEW CHURCH. Just a bunch of forlornly empty buildings. I am suprised he didn’t throw in his tent being shipped across the ocean in 4 containers….
The footbullets have begun flying. This is just the bb guns. Have no fear, the howitzers will be booming before this is said and done.

I find it ironic that the Church of Scientology accuses Monique of trying to “get rich quick” when that is the ONLY thing the Church of Scientology does – is GET RICH QUICK!
Oh, and by the way, I hope Marty and Monique GET RICH QUICK!!
You go Mosey ~ time to stand up to the “fair game” from the most ethical group on the planet – The Cult of Scientology!! They certainly are clearing the planet of anyone ever wanting to come into to their empty morgues! They are totally insane and keep “pulling it in” – one lawsuit after another!
Izzysson says
I think that Miscavige’s mind-set is of an ever increasing anxiety, which by now has become a cacophony of shrieking voices inside his head. He is experiencing the full blown effects of pure, unadulterated TERROR, as media sources expose the hideous facts of his sordid crimes and devilish machinations. He can’t hide, run away, or ignore the klieg lights of the world, which have him fully in their sights. Exposed, without even a semi-credible PR flack to hide behind!
The abject terror he must be experiencing is totally off of any scale imaginable. He is in full melt-down mode, and is at his most dangerous. He sees spies everywhere, can trust NO ONE, and yet is unable to see that he is done.
The mills of the Gods grind slowly, but they also grind exceedingly fine.

That woman who posted a “Hatting” on getting money from the IAS a while back…her married last name was Marion and she used to own the little yellow house across the street from the Sandcastle. If this jogs anybody’s memory maybe someone can piece together the rest of the data to ask for her info again.
Also…let’s change the postulates here…stop putting it out there “Oh it’s going to be a long and tough fight.” It doesn’t have to be at all! Let’s put it out there it will be quick, severe to DM and massively victorious for Monique!
Mike Rinder says
That’s Carisa Marion and she did not get money back from the IAS. Her advice assist anyone who wants to create a good record of trying to follow the dictates of the church to get your money back, but in today’s world, it doesn’t result in money.
The ONLY person who has gotten money back from the church in the last year or two (apart from accommodations which they know they will be forced by the state to return if they refuse) is Brian Culkin. And everyone now knows how that went down.
Unfortunately T, legal wheels turn very slowly. That is a reality, not a postulate. The truth is the end of that litigation will be Miscavige being forced to face the music. Believe me, he is not going to play easy to get. He is going to try everything possible to avoid that happening. I am not trying to give you a hard time, and I certainly want everyone to do all in their power to support Mosey, but unrealistic expectations are not going to help and I don’t want anyone who reads this blog to think that this is going to be a knockout in Round 1 with nobody even raising a sweat. Even with SUgar Ray Jeffrey on the case. To score a knockout you have to have your opponent in the ring. A lot of surrogates are going to be sent in to try and derail this before He shows up. History is clear on this.
Jane Doe says
The woman you speak of is Carisa Marion and she lives in Castaic, CA. She is on video somewhere, maybe youtube giving her mini hat on how to get your money back from the church. I think she got hers back because she threatened legal to them. But you can ask her yourself.

David Miscavige is so used to making the laws, he really has no idea the laws apply to him. He is a sad little clown. DM may not be the jailer of many much longer. If he were to receive 1/100 of the treatment he has bestowed on others- he will crumble like a paper cup.
Jimmy says
Lame. Super lame. Super Power lame.
“He who boasts of a daily bath admits the habit is new.”
Aquamarine says
Perhaps its true that David Miscavige thinks of the Church and himself as inviolate, invincible, untouchable. The degree OF arrogance, false pride and contempt that emanates from the Church out to the general public is amazing. If I knew nothing about Scientology this alone would turn me off. The Church really is a seething mass of overts and witholds which cannot see.
The Church has a huge blind spot, IMO, which is that religion, the subject, is, was, and always will be a HEATED SUBJECT. Not for nothing have we long been advised to avoid religion and politics as topics of discussion during friendly social gatherings. People get RILED about religion, people have killed one another because of religion, whether for or against, in or out of any particular one. Religion, merely the subject itself, is a CHARGED SUBJECT! RCS, you fought long and hard to be recognized as a religion, and you won, and you are now a religion. So now, for Christ’s sake, pun intended, act like one, OK? GROW UP. DEAL with peoples buttons about Scientology, like the helpful, caring compassionate group you purport to be.
The Oracle says
Oh, I for one do not think this will be a “long drawn out” situation. ANY aggression towards Mosey right now from ANY member of the Church of Scientology will result in an arrest warrant issued on David Miscavige.
The fact that Karen just issued a demeaning statement from “The Church” is already a violation of the restraining order.
I predict right here you will see an arrest warrant issued against David Miscavige before this even gets going. Some people are INCAPABLE of ceasing their purposes to harm attack and suppress no matter the detour-ants placed upon them.
The Oracle says
Note: Immediately upon the restraining order being issued, what is the first thing “The Church” does? Publicly attack and malign her with a statement!
It went right over their head! Maybe they didn’t even bother to read it!
They have ALREADY violated the restraining order!
Indie8Million says
Good catch on that one, Oracle.
Aquamarine says
Good for spotting that, Oracle.
The Oracle says
What David Miscavige doesn’t see is that EVERYONE outside of the Int Base in the justice arena, from the cop on the street up to the president of the United States, is his SENIOR. He is supposed to be saying, “Yes Sir” to these seniors instead he BACKFLASHES and violates a restraining order!
How does HE feel being a JUNIOR! He has ALREADY fucked it up!
Watch him start throwing staff under the bus! Ordering THEM to take the hit for this! Probably a bunch of WOMEN!
Now, someone needs to point out to the courts that it is against thier religion to coordinate with the demands of civil law!
According to their ethics code, it is against their religion to comply with the restraining order!
“Delivering up the person of a Scientologist without justifiable defense or lawful protest to the demands of civil or criminal law.” Coded as a suppressive act.
The restraining order is a demand of civil law. It is against their religion to comply with the demands of civil law.
But you watch David Miscavige start to offer up bodies to take the rap for him. Karen will be the first sacrifice HE throws into the teeth of civil law.
He will throw every staff member in O.S.A. under the bus if he has to, to avoid responsibility.
The Oracle says
This is the problem with people that are so self important they think “little matters” are too far beneath them to consider.
Remember Al Capone? Tax evasion?
The Oracle says
What are they going to say, “I didn’t get it before I responded to it?”
The Oracle says
David might as well have issued a public statement saying, “Fuck the state of Texas!”
Persistence says
I think it is outrageous the way DM and his minions have treated women. I have been on the receiving end of that horrible treatment. But I don’t see that his treatment of men is any better. I think DM hates pretty much everyone and if he doesn’t show it now, just give him a little time and who ever thinks him a friend will soon discover otherwise.

Number of new churches: In the recent Sunday Funnies on Tony Ortega’s site a lady from Valley Org called Kathy Heard (New OTVIII and Humanitarian with Honors – ?) dropped a very interesting statement (at least I thought so).
She said: “That 37 Ideal Orgs together are out-producing by statistics the rest of the 135 orgs combined tells the tale.”
Yes, but what tale? This puzzled me, and I realised I’m not very good at logic or maths, after all. What does this statement actually mean? That there are no more that 135 orgs world wide (rest of the …) or that there are 135 lame orgs + 37 Ideal = 172 orgs in total?
Also, please help me out with something else if you know the answer: when the total number of orgs is ever stated in publication (and this is one of the rare occasions, I believe), are Day and Foundation counted as separate orgs? Meaning, there aren’t necessarily 135 (or 172) physical structures dotted around the world?
The more I look, the smaller it gets.
Gayle aka TroubleShooter says

Ultimately, Miscavige will try to settle if it looks like his sorry ass has to show up in court, but will Monique, et al settle with him?
Hear that Dave? You may not be able to buy your way out of this one…
Richard Grant says
This is the really interesting question.
I’d guess that the Rathbuns MIGHT settle, but not just for money. Something on the order of a public apology by Dave in person, coupled with an enforceable pledge to cease all harassment — including anti-Marty websites and bad-mouthing him to third parties — might be enough. Certainly this suit is NOT about money, except insofar as a large payout would keep Ray Jeffries in fighting spirit and further weaken the church.
Carcha says
Please explain to me what would give you any reason to believe the church in that respect? It would seem that the only thing ‘real’ to the church is money – enough of it to match them with PI’s and lawsuits on a permanent basis. It is unwise to trust anything that has betrayed you and maligned you.

“Domestic violence can take many forms, including physical aggression or assault (hitting, kicking, biting, shoving, restraining, slapping, throwing objects, battery), or threats thereof; sexual abuse; emotional abuse; controlling or domineering; intimidation; stalking; passive/covert abuse (e.g., neglect); and economic deprivation.”
“Domestic violence and abuse is not limited to obvious physical violence. Domestic violence can also mean endangerment, criminal coercion, kidnapping, unlawful imprisonment, trespassing, harassment, and stalking.”
Domestic violence can also mean endangerment, criminal coercion, trespassing, harassment, physical aggression and stalking. Emotional abuse; controlling or domineering; intimidation.
Covert abuse, emotional abuse, intimidation, economic deprivation. Every Sea Org member lives daily under these conditions.

Mike, why haven’t you or any other exes filed suit? Could be quite the ” class action” that could put the cult out of business.
derfty says
Class action for harassment, not fraud.
Mike Rinder says
If you can find a competent lawyer in Florida who is willing to take on Scientology on contingency fee for a case like that, I am in. Or someone who will donate about $5 million to pay a lawfirm the fees to do it, I am in. I cannot file a lawsuit in Texas State Court.
Indie8Million says
Well, isn’t that interesting?
How much have we all raised for the Super Power building? The VMs in Japan (that I know personally didn’t much get there), and all of these other programs? How much has each individual donated to the IAS, etc.?
Well, if Mike was willing to put aside a special fund so that if someone earmarked their donation for the 5 million for the class action suit and, if the suit was successful, the donators could be paid back, who among us would be willing to play?
NOW, what IF we got the church to finance this by giving us back our IAS donations or money on account at the church and putting that in the kitty for the class action suit? Even if we kept some for ourselves and voluntarily donated to the fund, it would be a lot of money, wouldn’t it?
Wasn’t there someone in here recently who said they had the hat on getting your donations back from the Church? What good timing that would be to re-post that now.
So, what do you all think about that idea? We’ve all donated to build a better world. Wouldn’t this build a MUCH better world?
Over to you, Mike.

Wow. I just wish I had the millions. It would be a small amount really, to take a good case and refuse to settle and just fight it all the way through. Some millions of dollars and a few years and DM would get steamrollered into the ground like a limp noodle being flattened by a mack truck. How weird is it that Mike Rinder has the case that would take DM down and out forever but no one has the “huge” bucks needed to just do it. I guess that’s life. Ask a few revolutionaries what it’s like to overthrow a corrupt dictator and I am sure they say that it there was a millionaire handy it would have taken a few hours but in reality it took many years and much loss of life. Good news, we are well down that path and the end is in sight. Throw yourself to the fire friends, together we will be the pheonix – the bright and strong bird that rises revitalized from it’s own ashes! \Through the blood of patriots will our religion rise once again – purified. The milk toast types – the Dm supporters, will in the end be swept aside like so much trash. In all religions, in all politics, in all of lifes games, the guys that support some nasty, lying, sleaze bag end up despised. I do not envy the Feshbachs an Jensens of the Scientology world. Once day they will be ashamed of their reputation (but secretly proud of all the people they helped destroy.

Tell Tony Ortega and other media that when Karen Pinocchio Pouw starts in on the “unemployed internet blogger” about Marty, that you should politely say that he is employed as a writer and has written three books, and then give the titles of each book. That way people reading the article will become interested in buying and reading Marty’s books. It is a plug for his books and a way to get the word out about more data on DM’s horrible reign in Scientology. I mean if they can plug their 137 newly opened Ideal Orgs, then Marty can and should plug his books. At least his books have somethigngin them, unlike the empty orgs.

I’m thinking that Karin Pouw’s response to Monique Rathbun’s lawsuit about this being yet another get-rich-quick scheme is also yet another admission to the legal world of the increasing vulnerability of the RCS’s deep pockets It is possible that the already pending cases against the RCS are being closely monitored by other law firms just itching to get their hands on the RCS’s dough. A cottage industry of suing the RCS will be born, and IMO it couldn’t happen to a better “church”.
Mark Fisher says
DM has his hands full with this one. Mosey I predict will not fold quickly like others have in the past. She is either going to walk away with a boat load of money and no gag order or else take it all the way and get a judgement from a jury in her favor with huge punitive damages.
My only disappointment is that long time harasser Dave Lebow was not included as a defendant. That guy needs to pay the price for his years of harassment.
Dan Koon says
Mark, see if you can find a casino that will put a line on whether Mosey will settle out of court or not or whether this suit will go to trial. I would love to put money on Trial!
Richard Grant says
A trial before a jury is what Mosey’s attorney, “Sugar Ray” Jeffries, has told the press that he is going for. This may be a tactic to put the fear of god in Dave Miscavige, who is named personally in the lawsuit and would presumably be called to testify. But don’t you just KNOW the Rathbuns would love to get that little fellow in the dock, where Marty could confront him again, at last, face-to-face.

Keep painting the CoS for what it is – the Soviet Union of Religion, complete with its network of secret police and gulags and brain washing. Keep getting the word out. Actually the word is really already out. The official Scientology world consists of a handful of people – only a few thousand really – who do their thing with each other in a couple of Scio ghettos in Florida and LA mainly and in their delusionary state, think that they are “handling the planet”, when in reality the wider society looks on them as nutcakes, deriding and making fun of them at every turn. New San Antonio Express-News article: Scientology lawsuit alleges surveillance and dirty tricks
http://www.expressnews.com/news/loca…nd-4750263.php
Excerpt: “BULVERDE — Beginning in 2011, a defector from the top ranks of Scientology said he was followed, confronted and surveiled at his Gulf Coast apartment by a group of men and women who called themselves “Squirrel Busters” and sought to expose him as a heretic. Finally, Mark Rathbun and his wife, Monique, had enough and moved late last year to a secluded house north of San Antonio. Rathbun also distanced himself from church affairs, and for a while, it seemed their tormenters had called it quits.
But in July, after a camera was discovered hidden in the brush and aimed at their house, and when a strange personality who claimed to be a writer began appearing there as well, they realized no truce was possible.
“We came here for refuge and to disengage ourselves, and they followed us. They went to extraordinary efforts to pull this off,” said Mark Rathbun, 56, who once was ranked second to Scientology leader David Miscavage in the church hierarchy.
In response, Monique, 41, who’s not a Scientologist, sued the church last week in Comal County, claiming she has been the target of a merciless campaign of surveillance, intimidation and dirty tricks. The lawsuit names the church, its leader Miscavage, and two other men whom Rathbun claims were acting as operatives for the church’s Office of Special Affairs. “
