This is not going to please Dear Leader.
He is desperately trying to escape from HIS announcements that the church IS responsible for all sectors (yes, that INCLUDES NARCONON).
Ruh roh. Someone needs to get fitted for a black boiler suit.

It is still so amazing of how the “sheeple”actually read this bollocks and put their hands in the pocket again and again for the dwarf’s lunacy.
It is quite apperent that todays Scientologists are actually Scientologits, and have never read any actual LRH Policy never mind Technology or even a basic book.
I think the dwarf is the most suppressive being that has ever existed in the current physical Universe phase if not of all time.
Mike I think its about time you campaigned for an Ideal COB with appropriate leaflets and flyers etc!

“The question is not how to clear an individual, its how do we clear a civilization”.
Blowing my mind.
Blowing my MIND, people!
Earth to Miscavige: In the mid-60s, a guy named L. Ron Hubbard answered this question by stating, “…its you and me with our sleeves rolled up”, clearing one person at a time – a partial paraphrase of a datum in a reference called, “Keeping Scientology Working” – perhaps you’ve heard of it?
Dwarf, with Your Cherch’s rapidly-circling-the-toilet-bowl-drain PR, You are really fucked.
I mean, good luck on even recovering 1/10th of your still alive, once-winning, Scientology-loving Disaffecteds to the greedy, lying cult unfortunately known by the name “Church of Scientology”, good luck on getting even THIS relatively small amount of people back on services in your new buidings, let alone getting in any new public, let alone clearing “a civilization”.

Thanks Mike for answering. And also, I’m not out to look at it in a “right/wrong” aspect. I’m looking at it only from the possible effects to public.
Personally, I’m totally in agreement with you and others who expose the church’s type of PR and such. I’m learning some interesting things in regards to “reading between the lines” with promo and other pieces you have brought here. So, thank you for that :).
I believe you to be correct that its more of a word of mouth thing as in the old days as well. But if someone really wanted to advertise on a wide basis, I simply wonder what type of feedback they’d get overall.
Thanks again for your answer,
Rick Mycroft says
I guess someone forgot to print it in the special colours that only Scientologists in good standing with CoS are able to see.
arrayofsunn says
Dear Mike and anyone else 🙂
First off, I apologize for putting this in a reply for articles, but I don’t know any other way to communicate the question I’d like to ask on this blog.
For those who still may be auditing others, I wonder, do you think that exposing the church and “whistle blowing” may bleed over into the public to where they scatter at the name of Scientology? Would this then be a problem with getting new clients if enough people equated The Church with those outside the church. There are people who are trying their best to tell of behind the scenes at the Church and this, I appreciate, At the same time, I wonder if they might be shooting the feet of those making a living (outside the church) using Scn.
Again, I hope you don’t mind me asking this question, even though I realize its not on topic with the articles’s subject matter.
Mike Rinder says
Yes, off topic, but fair question.
My answer may differ from that of others who comment here.
I think the name of scientology HAS been destroyed, and it continues to get worse, but that is not because of “whistleblowing” but because of the ACTIONS of the church. You will never stop the news of the abuses seeping out through the cracks and these days the church no longer intimidates the media like they once did, so it’s going to be covered.
It is my view that the faster the abuses are exposed, the faster they will end. And those who wish to practice scientology as it should be practiced will be able to do so without the stigma of the abuses splattering onto them.
But in truth, scientology has ALWAYS primarily been spread by word of mouth. And current independent auditors are not out advertising on TV, they get their public through word of mouth — mostly those who have decided the church is a toxic environment only interested in their wallet.
I believe it is a necessary process to expose and get rid of the rotten practices of the church. That this causes bad PR for scientology is unfortunate but unavoidable.
I dont think there is an “independent” auditor who is having any trouble finding people to audit if they wish to do so. And the very fact that they can differentiate themselves from the church is a huge plus in the eyes of those who go to them for help.

Beautifully stated, Mike. Tell the truth, trumpet it, without fear of the consequences. Throw out the filthy water in which this baby is being bathed, and save the baby.
Cindy says
Yes that’s right! Throw out the filthy bathwater this baby is being bathed in but save the baby. Well said Mike and Aqua and others.
Alex de Valera says
The name of Scientology has been tarnished beyond repair, but if you say you are an “independent scientologist” all of a sudden you become like a dissident of the former Soviet Union. I think people associate the abuses to the COS and as Mike said the “Church” is entirely responsible for its current situation.

The video looks to be at least 15 to 20 years old. I had heard that DM stopped interviewing back in the early 90’s. Is there something more recent he’s done as far as interview goes? I know he’s done his own ra ra videos with the Ideal Orgs and other events, but I haven’t seen any actual interviews.
I hate to say it, but I don’t know of hardly “any” major PR person including LRH himself that told the truth for all questions asked in an interview. That’s the harsh realization about the PR, propaganda and hype of getting a group like this sold to the public. Razzle and dazzle and make promises that hopefully some of the percentage of the populace will see. At least this is how I see it these days.
By the way I find it rather ironic that in big letters they blast out how they want to make the orgs responsible for all things across Scn board and then in tiny letters they say make a donation today – lol!! Of course when they say donation, I put in my head that they just want your money and to hell with services. Like people should just give because their intentions are good.
But it used to be that orgs and such got money because they really did deliver services and sold materials (whether people were pleased with those services is another story).
Just asking for money for a bauble of a building, video, flyer, etc. and its “gold-like” bling is not only criminal, its down right insulting. And the sad thing is there are people who actually “give” and feel good about it!! I’m in the wrong business, I tell ya – lol!!!
Mike Rinder says
It’s the only video’d interview he has ever done. And he did one print media interview with Joe Childs and Tom Tobin of the then St Pete Times.

Is this just a reorganization of management? ABLE runs NarCONon and Narc International and the other ‘betterment’ program of the clampire, are they being cut out of the cash flow? One sign of a business cutting costs is the elimination of middle management and the consolidation of cost centers. Is ABLE going away??
Mike Rinder says
No change in structure. ABLE is there to stay, and especially now as it is a legal buffer between claims against Narconon and the church. But when it comes to PR, ABLE doesnt enter into the equation, these are all “church sponsored” groups (“we” got 475 million people off drugs)…
Rick Mycroft says
ABLE is also the paper wall between secular and religious. Anything on the ABLE side isn’t religious, has no connection with the Church of Scientology, and no restrictions on slipping Narconon or The Way to Happiness into schools, or taking government money.
Someone messed up with the Drug-Free World, Drug-Free Marshall/Ambassador program, which should have been on the ABLE side of the wall.

Pericles says
Where did 100,000 people get off drugs? Has he got the accurate figure and the names of these 100,000, not his usual overly inflated ones that have no basis for fact. No due diligence is ever possible with his figures which is what I am sure he is counting on. He should have said 10 million, just as believable!

Re DM interview: It demonstrates the most horrible of comm cycle. If anyone of us had only listened to that interview and looked, really looked, impartially and without preconceived awe, knowing what we know, or knew, we would have seen it for the naked truth it shows: an out-ARC, out-TRs steamroller. What a sad
shame we didn’t.

I love their graphics. The little Narconon guy looks like he is running away at top speed from the CofS Ideal failing Org. The other five arrows vectoring out from the org look like nuclear strikes (at all the other guys who were running away?).

Well as Judge Waltrip stated RCo$ is a business, I can understand Der Leader trying to distance himself from anything that is a liability, ie Narconon. The real liability to the church is him.

So far, the firewalls between the individual Narconons, Narconon International, ABLE, CoS, on up to his head cheeseship are holding, but the almost two dozen Narconon cases pending in Oklahoma, California, Nevada and Quebec are going to put them to the test, especially if anything breaks down in Texas.
Aquamarine says

They have an MU on Civilization – they spelled it wrong. LOL
Can you imagine a Scientology CiviliSation? Yikes! Billions of people and only 3 “artists” / celebs. Cruise, Travolta and Alley. Advanced Society ??? that still uses “telexes” and antiquated computer systems.
A member actually stated in a deposition this past year that LRH states “telephones are psychotic” so they don’t use them. (Monique Rathbun Lawsuit).
Here is the real definition of Civilization and Scientology is the exact opposite of the true definition:
Definition of civilization (n)
Bing Dictionary
civ·i·li·za·tion
[ sìvv’li záysh’n ]
highly developed society: a society that has a high level of culture and social organization
advanced development of society: an advanced level of development in society that is marked by complex social and political organization, and material, scientific, and artistic progress
advanced society in general: all the societies at an advanced level of development considered collectively
Word story Civilization entered the English language in the mid-18th century with the meaning “the act or process of bringing out of a savage or uneducated state.”
You can’t get more savage than Scientology. Uneducated members that can’t function in the real world is the EP of Scientology.
Mike Rinder says
That is how it’s spelled in UK. Queen’s english.
Mark says
They may have got that right, but it still didn’t stop a stray apostrophe creeping in. It’s irritating when an advertisement betrays its own illiteracy.

Two words in the huge title are misspelled. “Civilization” and “Organization”. Is there a different British spelling of these words? Or are the promo pieces just going out with gross and massive misspellings?
Mike Rinder says
It’s how they are spelled in the UK
maven says
UK English does not use the Z, only US. It’s ‘civilisation’ and ‘organisation’ in UK, Australia, New Zealand and most importantly South Africa. Of course, most people default to Microsoft Word spelling which is the US spelling.
Just Me says
Maven, I have to be obsessive here and let you know that MS Word doesn’t “default” to US spelling, except in US. You can set Word’s spell check to any version of English (or any other language) you wish. Just sayin’.
