A great discussion about disconnection and Scientology’s policies and public statements.
These are the documents (and video) we used.
Tommy Davis’ infamous CNN interview:
Christie and her disconnection story o0n the front page the Sunday edition of the NY Times.
From the scientology website:
And the completely contradictory statement from the same Scientology.org website that a viewer pointed out during the episode:
The Dude says
I also was SEA-ORG, quite noticable in several ways.
And there is done thing I never see in all this years commented: No one talks about from the Sea-Org viewpoint, So I assure to aall of you that, the most fierce disconnection is inside the Orthodox Church, if you family members are crying out loud just outside the building you are in it, absolutely no one will tell you, on the contrary, you maybe send out by other exit under any urgent needs, if you family members are writing to you, for sure you will never see those letters, they will start commenting/or giving you study material convenient to theirs “punch line” wish line “nothing important” will ask you/makes you say “somehow” that you are willing to disconnect in such case (normally in form of writing as drill/confessional/amendment)
For all those who never been Sea-Org maybe is cruel/inhumane/lack of natural love be willing to take your own family/relatives as enemies, believe me people, you really don’t know nothing about the real situation, and they will move heaven and earth for you not to see your relatives stressed/crying/screaming your name. In the most literally meaning of the concept (you/target are/is totally out of reality)

It’s the perfect lie for the cult to use in court, because it’s caked with “religious” manipulation designed to cause the judges to cower in supplication. They just want someone else to deal with it.
Tammy Synovec says
There really is no right way to leave SCN. I tried to get my ducks in a row, but in the end my daughter was forced to disconnect.
They can’t take away my hope of being reunited. Eventually she will start asking questions and not give into their demands.
I was able to get my husband out after he got fed up with their demands to “handle” me.
I was able to get approval, via the MAA, for my daughter to talk to her dad before he passed away from cancer in 2021. So they are making slight changes to evil disconnection.

Scientology has been doomed since the mid-70s. It takes a long time to die.
vǝda says
Scientology has been doomed since its conception. Cons aren’t meant to last.
The dude says
$cientology is doomed exactly after anonymous actions.
Was like a fall all the way down from their own “rollercoaster” theory (between media/press fights and activist/groups making videos for YouTube), them comes Leah Remini and hammer the last nail (meaning worldwide) with the “aftermath” investigative TV serials.
Glenn says
When I was “in” I saw members disconnect from family solely because that was easier than trying to “handle” the family member’s view on the cult. Chicken shit little pussies choosing the easy route instead of the more honorable and better one.

It’s About Time! Thank you Both.
Jens TINGLEFF says
I’m wondering, how many declared ex-victims have an SP declare which lists as a reason for the expulsion “failure to disconnect from SP?”
Neverinderella says
If Scientology ever got rid of disconnection it would probably be finished in a few years. I feel that about 1/3 of current Scientologist are under the radar and are only staying “in” to be able to talk to their family members.
I look forward to tonight’s show!
AnEx says
1/3rd is an under-estimation. In my opinion it’s more like around 50%. Staying under the radar so they can continue to talk to family is one reason. Other reasons are to not run into any trouble or be able to continue some comm lines or simply because they don’t care anymore.
Aquamarine says
Totally agree, Neverinderella.
