Try as they might, scientology is incapable of accomplishing any positive results on the internet.
Miscavige shows “stats” at his events like “people look up scientology every 1.63 seconds” or “we have 627Xed the reach for our programs on the internet” or other completely meaningless statements. All the while they continue to raise money for the “KCET studios” because this facility will allow scientology to “take over the internet.”
Miscavige has spent a LOT of money to create a video driven website at scientology.org. And probably more money paying than that to click farms in India and the Philippines to try to raise traffic rankings for the site. It’s been a desperate quest to gain credibility on the internet.
Even Miscavige in his bubble of sycophants knows the internet is any businesses’ best friend or worst enemy.
Alas, it doesnt matter how many millions you spend to put an ad on the SuperBowl — anyone who might be motivated enough by the promises and “come-on” to contact scientology or buy a book is going to Google first. People don’t even go to restaurants these days without Googling for reviews (it is an interesting exercise to type in any scientology church on Google Maps and then click “Reviews” and see what pops up) let alone a far more significant decision like embarking into a new “religion.”
So. it must be a huge disappointment for COP to Google scientology and see this:
Google has started putting “definitions” when you search. And this one is a doozy.
The Church of Scientology is a rich and venegeful religious cult, or as one critic puts it, “a cross between the Moonies and the Mafia.” But is would be a mistake to dismiss its underlying technology as harmeless of ineffective.
And the second listed site (Wikipedia) has a pretty gnarly pull-quote that includes disconnection and Lisa McPherson. Wow.
Scientology’s disconnection policy, in which some members are required to shun friends or family members who are “antagonistic” to the Church. The death of a Scientologist Lisa McPherson while in the care of the church.
Then the top news story is about Paul Haggis….
I can almost see the veins popping on Miscavige’s neck from across the country.
No matter how much money he throws at this, it is one epic fail. Also monumental. Milestone. Unprecedented. Unstoppable. And of course, straight up and vertical.
Probably the Google search results page will look different for you, depending on your own search history. But the fact that this is what one Special Correspondent got on Sunday afternoon is worthy of note. I am sure plenty of other people get similar things when they search scientology.
And if, after seeing this, anyone still heads into their local scientology organization they have no excuse when they eventually stagger out with an empty wallet, minus their gold fillings and any connection to family members who disagreed with their choice.
Vaughn Young once said the internet is scientology’s Vietnam. I think he might have understated it. I think scientology’s Hiroshima may have been more accurate.

I am no Internet expert in any way, shape or form , but I think that by paying big bucks any entity can appear in the first 3-6 items of the search results. Just under 2 years ago, I made the experiment of Google searching Scientology to determine what type of search results I got. If I remember it correctly, Scn was only in the 1st or 2nd at the most , search result immediately followed by what they call “entheta”.
Now two years later, they are in the first 3-5 search results with probably (I have no data on this) several thousands invested in a monthly or yearly basis ; a VERY poor return on investment.
There is no way in hell that anyone searching for Scn in the Net wouldn’t stumble accross this “entheta” under 5 mins of his search time.
The Oldman was right in many of his assertions even though that he seldom applied his own principles to himself. One of those right assertions is found on HCOB 13 August 1970 , PR Series 2 , “The Missing Ingredient”.
Its 8th parr reads : “Older practicioners preferred lies. They used circus exaggeration or black propaganda. They sought to startle or intrigue and the easiest way to do it was with exclamation points ‘facts’ which were in fact lies”. End of quote.
Of course, LRH was looking at himself at the mirror when he wrote that. But he was right about that, though.
Next quote from the PL :
“PR, dedicated to a false reality of lies, then becomes low A , low C and recoils on the user”.
A = Affinity , C = Communication
Next quote :
“The more lies you use in PR the more likely it is that the PR will recoil”.
“Thus the law : NEVER USE LIES IN PR.”
“Don’t tell a lie to city officials when the truth is just as easy to tell. Why go to all the work of dreaming up a lie ? If you do, it will weaken you if it is found out that it is a lie. Now you do have a problem with the ‘official public’ “. End of quotes.
So from my perspective , the explanation for COP’s failure with the Internet is totally explained on those quotes. LRH’s own failures are explained by those as well.
Any lie will sooner or later back-fire on the lair.

The Navy V the Sea Org.
The purposes of religion and military are radically different from each other and should never be combined, ever. Think Islam maybe.
The primary function of the Navy is to put well trained personnel in ships and airplanes to go out and intimidate others through its presence or threat of deadly force. Ships and planes are incredibly expensive.
It does not directly finance itself but it has a gigantic budget and the staff gets paid like clockwork. The food quality ranges from a well balanced good to excellent, 3 shifts, and 24 hours a day. They would never punish the crew by starving them with rice and beans. That would be crazy wouldn’t it? Starve people, they gone git sick and die or blow.
Eighteen hour days are not common except when some group is perceived to need punishment for arcane reasons known only by the top brass. Incidentally, the USN actually runs the whole show from space on down.
The primary function of the Sea Org is somewhat different. Scientology was to help people to evolve spiritually, raise awareness, go clear, get to OT, and help others achieve similar goals.
Why the word Scientology that few could understand was chosen to awaken people, when the word ruffled so many feathers is a question that I can only rationalize about. It doesn’t sound religious or spiritual or come with a warm and fuzzy onramp.
The tech is good but requires a leap of faith for most to just hang in there until the lights go on.
If raw public ask questions they are referred to the tech which is probably why they asked the question in the first place. The sups were evasive because they were in fear of using “verbal tech”. Maybe the sups didn’t understand it either.
Uniforms are necessary if for no other reason than to know who and where your people are and what their function is, especially in the fog of war. Drs’, nurses, waiters, teams, bus drivers, etc. also wear them, and it eliminates confusion.
They are designed for practical application, nothing there that doesn’t need to be there. They are also designed to be easy to stow and clean without tangling up the laundry equipment on the ship. (One does not wash his own clothes or fart sack (bedding) on a ship). Your name is stenciled on your stuff to discourage its potential invisibility.
Civilians get edgy when they see uniforms coming their way; it looks like a big mystery sandwich to them. Black swat teams usually mean we gone die.
Orange or black and white stripes mean prisoner.
The various ranks and stripes and badges are worn to show the chain of command to prevent confusion so nobody has to try to figure out who is in charge. They are earned through longevity, training and experience.
On aircraft carriers that have 3500 to 6000 people on them special clothing is worn on the flight decks like jerseys to show who does what.
We always knew, who was who and what was what, we trusted the system.
To, put military uniforms on civilians, fucks them up because they don’t understand the entire tech behind it and why. So they pretend to be military, get serious and go out of valence and PT. Black, white, black and white uniforms or white coveralls restimulate a lot of people below threshold on the time track.
Uniforms mean a third dynamic and reduces the first and probably the second as well.
Sea “Orgers” should wear “civies” on dry land and uniforms limited to operating crews on ships. I had to buy my own uniforms, pay to clean them or pay others to do it.
Liberty: What liberty? You don’t get libs in the S.O. Libs? Yeah, four hours off on Saturday morning to do laundry?
Navy muster: They are done at the beginning of a shift, after lunch and in the evening or end of shift. The reason for muster is to account for all personnel.
On a ship one can fall overboard, get washed off or blown off the flight deck, especially at night. If someone is missing the ship will retrace its path as best it can to try to find that person.
On dry land it is different but they still want you back. You are worth $60,000 and up to train so they want you back to fulfill your contract.
You don’t have to pay a freeloader debt when you leave, they probably figure that you have given enough already.
Schools muster because they are accountable for the chirin, nuf sed.
S.O. Musters? Why? Maybe they don’t trust the staff members or maybe they are in a permanent state of emergency created by Demented Misanthrope his-self. They wouldn’t need to muster if everyone bought their own GPS ankle bracelets.
Civilian Corporations don’t do musters,do they?
Employees aren’t likely to blow if they are getting a predictable paycheck. Hello real world.

Equating $cientologies internet plan with most battles or bombings is absurd. An adventure in absurdity that can be hilarious. All those 2000’s ‘confronts’ and internet activities just resulted in Tom Cruise happily putting on a muzzle and shutting up. His paycheck over came Miscavage’s pr campaign. And caused it to become a cause celeb that bite the clampire and TC right in the ass.
Mr. Let him Die’s pr strategy blew up right in his and TC’s face. They and they alone caused the 4chan Guy Fawkes masks to come out and they did drive the clampire into hiding. A hiding that continues to this day.
Lron went in to hiding every early in the computer processor revolution. He thought that just because telexs required a dedicated phone line, that those communications were secure. They were not. The clams used mainframes in those days to manage the clampire. Incomm should have led the clam internet pr scheme, but for some reason I have never found, they were relegated to the sidelines. I suppose Davies leadership skills are to blame for that.
The internet was pretty much just a DARPA play thing until 92-94 when dial up became widespread enough to allow ‘communities’ to form. You had to be something of a geek to live in the 1994 internet. Text based communities were the norm until Netscape came along. I leave out AOL, but shouldn’t, they did show everyone what to do and not to do. The clampires friend Sky Dayton got Earthlink into operation and were a national competitor for AOL and other isps. Until that connection to $cieno land became known, Earthlink was doing well, now it is living in AOL land and will not get a 2 billion buyout. While it has a solid California presence, it does not have that presence any where else. I think all their ‘hosting’ business is second or third fiddle to the big guys.
What the clampire never ever figures out is that for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. Hire click farmers and those farmers will be outed. And everyone gets a laugh at your expense. Yell at Matt Lauer and you will be tagged as a major league asshat forever.
They who laughs last, laughs best.
John Locke says
“he internet was pretty much just a DARPA play thing until 92-94 when dial up became widespread enough to allow ‘communities’ to form. ”
No, it was the advent of the WWW (hyper text and mark up) and the 1st browsers & web servers that set off the Web starting in ’91. DARPA was long out of it by ’92. Alos, the Church didn’t have mainframes running things back then. The largest they got was some mini’s.

Six years ago one evening I got very curious and decided to Google Scientology. One of the first hits that came up was the St. Petersburg Times article called the Truth Rundown. I spent several nights reading and watchin the videos and at the end of that I woke up. I looked at other web sites on the internet such as Ex Scientologists Message Board, Marty Rathbun’s blog, Operation Clambake, and Ex Scientology Kids. After my research I got out of the cult for good and forever.
Like you say Mike, the internet is like the atomic bomb on Hiroshima. Scientology is radioactive and to be avoided at all costs.
Chee Chalker says
Dean….do you remember what prompted that curiosity? I’m glad you are out, but I am curious as to what made you go on line in the first place.
I personally think that is the best way to get others out….to share thoughts like this (i.e. what made you look on line) because chances are, others feel the same way you do….

Yes, Dean, I”d like to know this, too.

Hence, “A rich a vengeful cult” has become the identity of the Church. This is HIS product as P.R.. He works his ass off to create this perception of the Church and takes home $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ for it!

Recently hubby & I were musing on the fact that the day is coming when those still in will have nowhere to go when this all implodes – the time for making it right with us (the forsaken) is nearing its end.
When I think of who’s left here in Joburg, I don’t believe there is one person I would even be interested in helping anymore.
If you’re still in the system at this point, you probably belong there. The time for claiming “ignorance” or “being trapped” or whatever other excuse is wearing thin. If people like Mike/Marty/Jeff/Steve/Debbie and so many others made it out, so could those who stayed. The fact they haven’t means they don’t want to, and they deserve what’s coming.

I agree completely. For there to be “Freedom of Religion” then with it goes good religions and bad religions and within that variety, people must be free to make good choices and bad choices. In the case of staying in Scientology and giving them donations then they are making bad choices for a bad religion. And they are under no illusion now. They can see that these donations they gave helped buy empty Ideal Orgs that will never fill up. They will know about the bad press on their Church. They may be pressured to make donations but they are not forced to hand over their money. They are not forced to turn up to events. They can make excuses instead. If they have family members still in then they can give them the same excuses for not attending and plead poverty when it becomes broadly known that they are not making their expected donations. If they are staying in and devoting their time and money to it or both then that is “Freedom of Religion” at work and they are exercising their free choice.
I have less than no sympathy for them. I laugh at their gradual demise and look forward to the day when they are penniless, old and sick with just a wretched few years in front of them, tortured by their reflections, before they die horribly.
T.J. says
But Shelley, here’s the thing… all those you named (Mike,Marty,Jeff,Debbie, etc.) along with most others we hear of (Leah Remini, Amy Scobee, Marc Headley, etc.) their hand was forced. Who knows, they might still be in otherwise, as “true believers”, as people who feel they have a purpose, an obligation to help mankind, and think Scientology is the way. If Marty wasn’t thrown in the hole and found it intolerable, if Debbie Cook hadn’t been forcibly removed from her post, if Amy was left alone to continue to serve, if Marc Headley hadn’t run into the situation he did, if Jeff Hawkins wasn’t taken off the work he loved and was successful at, if Mike Rinder had been treated well by the leader of the group, instead of hurt, imprisoned, disrespected… would they still be in? Look at those still in “The Hole”.. they are imprisoned, not just in body, but also in mind. That’s why they stay. Let’s remember their motive for joining the group was altruistic, these were/are for the most part, people who wanted to make a positive impact upon the world, however misguided, their intent was good. These people have been horribly mistreated by the one they look to, to lead and guide them and he has abused them and forced them out of the “religion” that they believed in. That this turned out to be a good thing in their life after all is aside from the point, and those still in should not be abandoned, should not be forgotten, and be disregarded as somehow deserving of their fate. Some of them it is hard to feel compassion for, yes, particularly those who are controlling and abusing others, those who have and still are in charge of perpetuating the mistreatment and wrong-doing, but let’s not give up on all who remain in – they need us, we who are on the outside seeing with clear eyes and sound minds, we need to be here to help them, to welcome them out with open arms, to help them to adjust, in body as well as in mind, which make be stuck in cult mode. It’s not a rational, conscious, choice they have made, it’s actually that they have been subjected to and influenced by a subtle set of coersions and conditionings, reinforced over time, psychological manipulations of the mind, body, and spirit, in other words, a cult. Please don’t say they deserve it, remember the title of the book and movie was Going Clear, the Prison of Belief… if their minds are in a sense “imprisoned”, we need to realize this and help to free them. We must care. We must continue to strive to help our fellow man, not through the practices and principles of Scientology, but to be free of the controlling mindset of Scientology. Those freed are thankful, and joyful to be living with the ability to practice free will and make their own life choices again. If no-one helped Tori, she wouldn’t be with us to say thank-you for allowing her to live a free life. I’m pretty sure Jeff Hawkins feels he is better off now than he was inside the cult, ditto the Headleys. No one helped Lisa MacPherson. Or Alexander Jentze. Shall we disregard and forget those still imprisoned? Not be concerned about them, and their quality of life? What about the Mothers and family members whose children are still in? Many of them are innocent victims. We can’t say all those still in “deserve it”, we just can’t.

TJ you have brought up some good points. I wonder if you have a plan to rescue these scientologists who don’t deserve to be where they, in their diminished capacity, elect to stay. A lot of people all over aren’t the slightest bit shy about speaking up and out about scientology. This blog is a lethal weapon. In the meantime our obstinate sci-fi-dollargists will just have to stew in the pot they elect to sit in until such time serendipity or the cavalry comes to save them.
Dawn says
TJ, you are right but so are all the others.
I know someone who’s in but is convinced he’s doing his bit to save the planet. He hasn’t been badly treated, hasn’t been in the RPF, earns commission as a reg so is not badly off financially. I’m close to him but if I tried to tell him even some of the things about the cherch and the pigmy that he doesn’t know, he won’t believe me. He’ll accuse me of being influenced by SPs and/or entheta. It will just be too shocking for him to even try to contemplate what I’m trying to tell him.
It breaks my heart that this highly intelligent, caring person is so delusioned and there seems to be nothing that I can do about it. I remember that it wasn’t so long ago that I, too, thought scientology was the answer to mankind’s difficulties.
It’s a catch 22 situation because what will perhaps get him thinking about things if he starts to be ill-treated. At the same time, I don’t wish this on him.
He has no doubt that what he’s doing is the only thing in the world he should be doing.
I “pray” for a miracle.
Ann B Watson says
Hi Dawn,Very good to meet you.Your post is very true and it does give one pause because I would not wish ill treatment on anyone still in,save one.Sometimes that situation can cause one to suddenly see the big picture and blow.I do so hope your friend has some kind of cognition at some point. It may start if he got ill and the only treatment was mega vitamin doses, saunas, and running.Years ago I had no doubt that what I was doing in The Sea Org was saving the planet carved in stone one billion times, yet I blew when I saw the true nature of the cult not the side the still ins etc see.Take Care,Ann B.
Shelley says
I hear what you say, T.J. I didn’t say people should not be helped – I said the time for excuses of why one stayed is drawing thin.
The fact is that ALL of us left. Not everyone was subjected to same hell as those I mentioned – they were the true heroes. For every one of them, hundreds of others exited the doors for many different reasons – we all eventually could no longer ignore what in front of our very faces.
Just as I observed the insanity and craziness, so did many others who observed exactly what I did and yet they remained in. Why? I had friends & family who nattered more than I about the state of affairs in our church but when I was nailed, they turned their backs on me and disconnected without a 2nd thought. Some of them even cheered at my downfall. These were lifelong friends. Don’t expect me to hold a pity party for them when they exit in years to come – broke, broken and minus gold teeth – just as Mike described.
I was on staff – the PES of Joburg org. I spoke to hundreds of public – I was lambasted with natter, upset, ARC broken & seriously upset public and staff. I can comfortably say that 80% of the people I dealt with were seriously pissed off and upset and KNEW that things were not right. But did they make a move? No. They keep their heads down and won’t muddy the waters for fear of losing their “freedom”. And yet they know.
If you see the “greatest religion on the planet and the ONLY way out the trap” declaring people left, right & centre, involved in dirty OSA tactics & the decimation of good people and you don’t question or take action – as LRH said one should, then I’m sorry – you’re either an SP yourself or you’re utterly dead spiritually.
Don’t forget – David Miscavige is not doing this alone. There are many people still flowing power to him – just like Hitler. He did not personally kill 7 Million Jews on his own – he had plenty of help.

Thank you Shelly, that was a pleasure to read.

Thanks for commenting RogerHornaday, I wish I did have a plan to rescue… but I don’t have a clue. Cults are a strange force, it’s really hard to break someone out of that mindset, no matter what group they have joined. I have no answers, I’m sorry.
Dawn, thanks for your reply as well. I believe your story is common; many people in the group are like the one you spoke about. I don’t need to be right, it isn’t a question of right or wrong, these are just my feelings on the matter. I urge, in most things in life, for people to try to be compassionate and caring. It’s just in my nature, if it’s appropriate or not, I tend to do it often and stick my foot in my mouth, irritating people. Maybe some people will think about what I’ve said, or maybe they will feel as though those inside don’t deserve it. Everyone has a right to their own opinion on the subject. I hope people are able to leave the cult of their own volition and make a life for themselves. Yes, it would be nice to see it happen, I agree.
Shelley, no offense was meant by my post, I didn’t intend to sound as though I fault you for anything, I don’t, and I apologize if it came across that way. I will be the first to admit, I am not very articulate at times and don’t word things very well. If only what’s in my mind could be easily translated into written form, or a *virtual hug* given out, it would come out better. This is an emotional topic for sure. You are certainly entitled to your own feelings and to express them, it’s enlightening to read your comments, and I get the sense that you have been mistreated by some of those still in somewhere along the way and still feel annoyance at that, very understandable if so. I’m not defending the actions of anyone still in, or making excuses, just saying that we should consider the insidious nature of cult control and try to be charitable and encouraging when (or if) members finally are able to break out. If you are not so inclined, you may have a valid reason, it’s your prerogative, and again, not trying to preach to anyone or tell you what to do. I don’t agree with the actions of the current leader of the cult or those who do his bidding. I’d love it if everyone there would suddenly step up and say, enough is enough, we’re done with this.
Ann B., you are always kind in your comments, thank you.

I remember when the insane crooks were certain they would prevail against the truth about them being covered in the alt.religion.scientology newsgroup back in 1994. 🙂 Look at what happened there. 🙂 We kicked the fucking assholes to the fucking curb in a.r.s, so much so that there were newspaper articles written about the “whack-a-mole” taking place in a.r.s which noted that the Scientology crooks were losing badly.
Over the years and decades, that has only gotten better, the Scientology crooks are more widely exposed and everything about their human rights crimes and abuses are more widely known as every year goes past, and the filthy crooks can’t do anything to stop it.

I would rather say: The internet is Scientology’s Waterloo.
(Vietnam and Hiroshima are too close to me emotionally.)
Alice Graves says
Just to show how stupid DM really is, still boasting that “people look up Scientology every 1.63 seconds”: He doesn’t even realize they’re all people like me who just like to see what new PR disaster has hit him. It’s fun! And knowing what a paranoid psychopath he is and how he blows gaskets 47 times a day, makes it even funner!

I want to point out that there is a little grey feedback button lower right of the definition. Please send google feedback incase the church, err, money-grabbers try to get it changed! I selected helpful and typed the following into the comment box:
As a survivor of Scientology I find the definition to be accurate. Please don’t change it because Scientology wants it changed!
dyir says
Is this in anyone a knock-on effect of the lobbying Slappy did on Sergei Brin of google to get them to change on results are reported on google?
The Dark Avenger says
Sergei already gets paid for putting the official website @ #1 when a search for CoS is done. The problem is that COB doesn’t know how put that to his best advantage.
And we do know of failed attempts by Bob Duggan and Per Wickstrom to consign critical references to them off of the Google Machine. The problem was, and is, that Google wasn’t designed to be an anti-search engine, so such tactics will fail in the long run. It shows you how disconnected the “empire” is internally, that Per tried and failed after the regulars at the Underground Bunker made hash of Bob’s attempt in the span of a few hours after Tony posted about it there.
Aurora says
From Raw Story:
‘Speaking to CBS News, Trinity Foundation’s founder, Ole Anthony, said that since the IRS named Scientology a church several years ago, “anybody can call themselves a church.” Naturally, Oliver has now registered his own church with the IRS, called Our Lady of Perpetual Exemption.’
http://www.rawstory.com/2015/08/irs-under-scrutiny-after-john-olivers-televangelism-segment/
John Locke says
Ole Anthony is uneducated. The IRS doesn’t determine who is or isn’t a “church”.
Old Surfer Dude says
True that! The determine who is TAX EXEMPT ONLY.

Yep! Gotta be the psychs! I mean, they’ve been around since the beginning of time, right? Hubbard wouldn’t lie about something like that, would he?

How does it feel to be beaten by sites that have a tiny fraction of the budget? Also, India no longer shows up on the audience geography statistic, so it looks like Dave has decided to stop paying the click-farms.
Mike Rinder says
When they had high India showing up is when they made a concerted push to get above me and tony on Alexa. They were ahead of me for a while, but never caught Tony. They probably could no longer get the money through FP so it was dropped and they reverted to their more real position.
statpush says
CoS will NEVER achieve a sustainable score above your blog or Tony’s. Reason: All they have to offer the public is glossy brochureware, with content written by lawyers and a PR firm. The internet public can smell that shit miles away. Whereas, your blog and the Underground are written by REAL people, who have REAL opinions and REAL data, therefore REAL value. And their communities are vocal, witty, humorous and observant.
Katniss Everdeen says
So if Mike and Tony are unemployed bloggers on the fringe of the internet, what does that make the Co$?
Joe says
Quick question Davey….Are you just plain stupid?
Old Surfer Dude says
Oh, c’mon, Joe! There’s nothing “plain” about COP! He’s extraordinary stupid to a factor of 1 million! Everything he touches turns to ashes. You’ve heard of ‘laying of hands’ on a person to ‘heal’ them? Well, when COP practices the ‘laying of hands’ you know someone is going to get the shit beat out of them…

here in Austria, searching for “scientology” on Google gets you the Vienna scientology business center only on 5th place. First wikipedia, the a really bad news-headline, then two times Wilfried Handl’s anti-scientology blog and then scientology in Vienna. Not really good for the hypnotists ..
SILVIA says
It is a catch 22, isn’t it? Dianetics/Scientology religion was envisioned as a means to make money and not pay taxes, yet it has, is and will be run as a business as the purpose behind has been to make money.
So, you promote it as a religion (with its honored IRS’ tax exemption), but use business marketing to promote it.
Sooner or later is going to backfire on you and, while it does, Pompadour will keep blaming others for his own failures. If he were to accept he is the source of criminality and abuses and, thus the poor public opinion about Scn, he will indeed go berserk.
Todd Cray says
Just checked the definitions feature. Here’s what popped up (from urbandictionary):
Scientology (noun):
“See sham, fraud, fake, or any word adjacent to those.
Basically its a falsetto ‘religion’ in which eternal happiness is attained by donating all of your money to the leaders.
Founded by L. Ron Hubbard as a way to scheme money and make a fast buck off his books. One of the ‘holiest’ days in this religion is Hubbard’s birthday.
Because most celebrites such as Tom Cruise and John Travolta are too stupid to realize it, they belong to this group.
If you even THINK of joining scientology, you should be kicked in the balls…hard. “
statpush says
I remember attending an Int Event pre-2000 when DM lambasted the internet, and with typical snarky tone claimed it to be “the salvation of mankind.” I always thought this was an ill-informed statement. Having worked in the tech sector since the early 90s, I knew of no one who shared this viewpoint. Sure the internet was new and exciting and held a lot of potential – but, “salvation of mankind?”…please.
He also said all it was good for was putting items in a shopping basket. Okay, Dave…
True to form, anything non-Scientological (e.g. the product of dirty wogs) is vilified as aberrated and base. Then years later, well behind the rest of the world, Scn claims to have mastered the subject and proudly announces their “success” to the sheeple.
Of course, their reported results are lies and they have mastered nothing. Guaranteed, for what ever meagre results they may have achieved, it would have taken them twice as long and cost twice as much.
Such is the magic of Scientology.

Before I left, while I was UTR, I was told by a staff member in my little org that he/she would be “available to assist me if I were ever confused about Scientology due to Internet entheta”. The gist was that the Internet was the world’s reactive mind. Of course, there’s a lot of garbage on the Internet, plus there is a great deal wisdom, and everything that falls between. Someday I would like the opportunity to point out to some Still In that “entheta” and “false data” is rampant in regular libraries also but church management isn’t forbidding Scientologists from going to one. Although that day could come. The day could come when the poor sheeple will need to destroy their library cards. It wouldn’t surprise me, honestly.
Chee Chalker says
Statpush, I’m confused……was DM being sarcastic when he claimed the internet was the salvation of mankind? (Hence the snatky tone)
I would love to find an old Freedom magazine that had these kind of quotes…

No Chee, he was serious. The comments following that were typical “we have the only workable tech” bullshit, and how mankind and his internet were a joke.

Just Googled Scientology in the UK today and articles come up about Paul Haggis and Tom Cruise on page 1. Also on page 1 is Tony’s website and Xenu.net. If you look at the Google reviews about the org in London and the place in Tottenham Court Road there are some quite damming reviews. You can tell the positive reviews are written by Staff, especially one from a Charlie Wakely who uses the word ‘bigot’.
John Locke says
“I think scientology’s Hiroshima may have been more accurate.” No Doubt.
Another ironic thing is that while the search results show the vicious nature of the CoS DM is reinforcing those data points through internet buys that slime and attack its critics, on the internet. Thus, much of the internet church $ go straight into black PRing itself…
Old Surfer Dude says
And he actually thinks the internet will help the cult??? What do that call that? A pipe dream? Man, that’s got to me one big pipe…

Criminon is part of the Social Betterment mini-mafia and money sucks of the cult. The guys who did the snake thing were Synanon.

I just simply typed “scientology” into google and got the same results EXCEPT this result appeared as the third ad under the two scientology.org paid results. This is the opening paragraph, “THERE WAS ONCE A MAN who considered himself an explorer, a military hero, a mystic, a philosopher, a nuclear physicist, and an expert in human nature. In fact, he was none of these things. He was an adventurer, a writer of pulp fiction, and a teller of tall tales. He was a college dropout, a bigamist, convicted of petty theft and fraud, and named as an unindicted co-conspirator in a plot to infiltrate and steal information from U.S. government agencies. Despite his unimpressive physique, he was a larger-than- life, charismatic figure who persuaded thousands of people to believe in and pay large sums of money to learn more about a view of the world he constructed from a foundation of pseudoscience, bad philosophy, science fiction, and space opera. He came to believe his own claims of developing the power to shape the world to his tastes and improve one’s physical and especially mental states through specific techniques he invented that precluded all psychiatric drugs, and yet he died alone with matted hair and rotting teeth, with the anti-anxiety drug Vistaril in his system. ” So much for that “Messianic Project”.

RolandRB says
If the Internet mattered to Scientology’s future then LRH would have written Policy Letters on it and perhaps Technical Bulletins about it as well. Remember that LRH had excellent whole-track recall so He would have known about space-opera societies developing the Internet and the relative importance of it or otherwise in shaping societies and its potential impact on Clearing technologies.
That LRH did not bother to mention it in any PL or HCOB should be proof to all Scientologists that the Internet does not matter.
RMycroft says
I guess he just didn’t foresee the day when everyone had a teletype at home or in their pocket.
John Locke says
No need to foresee RM. El Con was alive when personal computers littered the home/business landscape. He was just a bloviating idiot.
RMycroft says
When he went into total hiding in 1980, the IBM PC had been announced but rarely delivered. Home computers were still the province of hobbyists and experimenters. After that, he was living on ranches or in his bus and I doubt he had his finger on the pulse of technology.
Who knows, maybe he wrote an Advise about computers but they pulped it when they were trying to hide all traces that he was still giving the orders? 🙂
Ann B Watson says
Hi IYawnalot,Your post gave me pause for thought.Firstly I do not believe I would want to lunch with David, but if I absolutely had to I would ask him,why exactly are you here on this planet and for what purpose? And do not give me any of your bs I have heard it before and if you want to hit me hey now I know how to duck and run! XO Ann B.
John Locke says
RM unfortunately you are conflating “hiding” from the government with living in a cave unconnected to the world. That was not the case with El Con. He stayed in touch with contemporary happenings. He knew when INCOMM built a PC network, etc. If you study his advices in the computer area you can see that he was aware of the s/w & h/w architecture of PC networks.
Sorry to bust your view of him but, he was mainly an idiot when it came to stuff other than spinning tales and scamming people
McCarran says
…or proof that he didn’t have much of an imagination or his whole track recall of space-opera societies was pretty limited.
LRH should have watched Star Trek; I’ve just been made aware of some of the great social commentary going on in that show way back in the 60’s!
Old Surfer Dude says
He should have watched every single episode! At least that way his “whole track recall” would have been much more interesting.

Good one
Sheldon Goldberg says
Epic definition! Never ceases to amaze me how bad the PR is. In the “ideal org” issue, LRON says something to the effect that the PR area control would be such as no one would dream to attack it. He’s got a ways to go on that one.
Sinar says
Sheldon, that issue is in the Data Series on the subject of ideal scenes and names what the ideal org characteristics are – there isn’t a specification of square feet in size that Idle Org have requirements of.
DM’s Idle Org concept is just about emptiness and broke parishioners surrounding it and an apparency of his following LRon, though it has nothing to do with this Data Series issue, totally designed to go broke if you read other L Ron issues.
Sheldon Goldberg says
Thanks, Sinar. You are absolutely correct about broke parishioners.
I was referring to this specific line in the PL that always gives me a laugh as the current “ideal orgs” couldn’t be further from this:
“And the PR Area Control would be such that no one would dream of threatening it.”
John Locke says
Sinar, the vast majority of Orgs were going broke while being run on El Ron’s policies. I know, I was watching EVERY Class IV org at the time…
McCarran says
John: Well then, I guess david miscavige did the exact right thing moving onto the “money for nothing” tact – as long as he had gullible public remaining.
When He runs out of gullible public… what then?
I Yawnalot says
I think the point McCarran is that if he runs out of gullible public, he’ll still consider his mission a complete success. A destroyed organisation is just as desirable (he’s been destroying it for years)as money, (he’s never not had heaps since he stole/usurped the organisation). He’s never given a crap about “people” as he’s gone out of his way to screw them up. He has no concept of himself ever losing power, yet he works overtime screwing things up.
When dealing with the insane, being able to confront the almost baby talk stupidity of it is the most difficult of all things to do. The sanest thing miscavige does is either sleep occasionally or when he leaves an area – anything else leads to an endless ‘mind fuck’ if you try to rationalise or see the sense of logic in his actions or thinking. He’s one evil SOB as well!
Try to imagine an open and frank discussion with him over lunch at the Sandcastle, you have 5 minutes of his time – you pick the subject. What response would you expect? Now, what response would you really get?
John Locke says
Correct McCarran. In as far as an entity has to continue to make a “profit”. Ethically, what DM should have done is to announce to all that El Con’s bridge was a fraud and He had been bilking them for decades. But, as he is a criminal like El Con, he didn’t do the right thing.
You see, scn was factually in a DECLINE staring in mid-late 70’s due to losing its demographic that was gullible enough to fall for the scam…
