From the recent FBI release, a letter sent to the St Petersburg Times in 2010. This may have been put on the SP Times website back then, and may not be something new, but I had not seen it before. It's a doozie. It is a compilation of lies, nestled in the usual "other religions have practices like ours" and repeated "anyone who tells you something different than what we say is a liar." The numerous, heartbreaking, independent yet similar stories of Sea Org members being coerced/forced to have abortions is addressed with the flimsiest response "we don't advocate abortion" and anyone … [Read more...]
Hubbard: The Expert on Children
Someone sent me this recent Facebook post from Mace Kingsley. It highlights one of the more sinister aspects of scientology: the enormous amount of false -- often harmful and sometimes dangerous -- information Hubbard spewed forth about children. The above is just a sampling, and it's pretty horrific. Children's "overts" are the problem and they should be getting married and given jobs at age 14. College is a bad idea, because it "puts a delay on marriage..." What a crackpot. And you only have to look at HIS life to see just how worthy his opinions and … [Read more...]
Bonnie’s Sad Tale
This is a very sad story. Yet another bright young woman indoctrinated into becoming a willing scientology slave. She is so proud of the fact that she was the youngest fundraiser for the "ideal org" (something that changed absolutely nothing in Sydney or anywhere else). And she was a fundraiser for the IAS, upset that she "only regged $5,000 today." This is perfectly normal in the scientology world. And she proclaims she has been on staff for 11 years and has completed NED (but is not Clear), the Student Hat and Metering Course. This is the big "benefit" of 11 years of "volunteering" as … [Read more...]
About the Worst Thing To Do
Scientology continues to demonstrate it's irrational, dangerous attitude towards the current pandemic. They just don't get it. As the old saying goes, even if you put lipstick on a pig, it's still a pig. Even if scientology pretends they are totally in compliance with societal norms and expectations (in fact, they exceed them and did so faster and more efficiently than anyone on earth), they just cannot help themselves when it comes to displaying their real "pig." The pressure is still on to "get stats up" -- that will never change. So, these recruiters are feeling the heat to bring … [Read more...]
An Ideal Scientology Family
A recent Facebook posting, coupled with the blog post about my daughter yesterday, prompted me to write this today. Mirit Hendrickson is a full-on scientologist known for her "VM videos" -- donning a yellow t-shirt and heading out to look for photo-ops during hurricanes that she then posts all over social media to prove the "effectiveness of the tech." Her life is immersed in all things scientology. So it is hardly a surprise that her children are being raised as part of an "ideal" scientology family (which includes joining the Sea Org as soon as possible). As you can … [Read more...]
Thursday Funnies
The new look Crossed arms are so 2019. Holding an empty 3 ring binder is the new thing. Sure says "determined" to me? Here today, gone tomorrow Just look at ANY of the ideal orgs that have opened and see how many of the people they touted beforehand are there today. Most of these people will never actually start, they just agree to sign up to be left alone for a while. Big Ben! That's a lot of "secular" stuff for an organization that claims to bring more people onto the Bridge than anyone else on earth... The Year of Bahamas … [Read more...]
Thursday Funnies
Anything to get them in... Magic. Music. Dance lesson. Painting. Desperation to try to get "bodies in the shop." Featured Attraction? Now it's a "jam session" at a new time Why I joined staff? It made sense. Gosh -- did they tell you about the hours and the pay? And the futility of it all? Just guess the answer to this riddle... They would use the same tagline for "Talk Therapy or Torture" -- anything a psych does is torture. Ron tells us so. Absolutely no fundraising We are done with … [Read more...]
Grooming the “Next Generation” of “Org Execs”
This is how scientologists are groomed from an early age. Indoctrination into the Hubbard "study tech" which teaches you that if something he said doesn't make sense, it is simply because there is a word or symbol you have not understood. According to Valentina Smith, these are the "next generation of org execs". Valentina is one of the Admins on the "Scientology - Perth" Facebook group (where this was posted). As I recall, she is one of the lonely staff of the Perth "ideal org", though I may be mistaken. Scientology increasingly relies on second and third generations to be their "new … [Read more...]
Get ‘Em Young
I came across this Sea Org promotional piece from 1999. It was a time when there had not been the extensive exposure of abuses of children in scientology. And thus it reflects the true attitude of scientology -- not the carefully worded utterances that are put forth these days (scientology.org is the epitome of scientology propaganda and it is the lead for most public statements now). Here we witness the unvarnished (well, at least less varnished) side of how scientology views children. Education outside scientology is not valued. In fact Hubbard derided it often -- especially higher … [Read more...]
Scientology and Children: The PR Spin
After the last post Child Sexual Abuse in Scientology it is ironic that the next day I came across this piece of PR spin. This is the other side of the scientology equation. On one hand, they groom people to be victims of sex abuse and seek to cover it up when it happens. On the other, they seek to create a good image of themselves so stories of abuse are rejected on the basis of "It couldn't be true -- look how they LOVE children and support and protect them." It is an aircover operation done on the basis of what is good for scientology. And here is another one -- they are really … [Read more...]
