In my recent YouTube video about Scientology and Christianity, I read an excerpt from one of Hubbard's lectures from the Class VIII course. You can hear the relevant section of this lecture, accompanied by a slide show (you can select various sources for the slide show -- South Park, Going Clear, Panorama and some others). There can be no doubt what Hubbard is saying when you listen to the entire 10 minute excerpt. I wanted to put this up on my blog so it i … [Read more...]
L. Ron Hubbard on the Christianity “Cult”
Here is another quote from L. Ron Hubbard expressing thoughts about Christianity: “It’s an interesting thing that there exists on Earth a cult which believes a hundred percent that it has the only god there is in this universe. And this is quite an interesting thing. See, this is terribly interesting. Anybody who says he has a total monopoly on all there is of something, which you can’t weigh, see or measure, is suspect. Christianity’s gain in the world and its departure from its own announced principles were in the main in the direction of control…It is not even a major group today in Europea … [Read more...]
Can Scientologists be Christians or Jews Too?
This is the eighth "vacation" post, revisiting some of the more important articles to have appeared on my blog over the years. The original post and comments is here. Scientology likes to tell the world that you can be a scientologist and also be a Christian, Jew, Buddhist or anything else. This is an "acceptable truth" (defined by Hubbard this way: Handling truth is a touchy business also. You don't have to tell everything you know-that would jam the comm line too. Tell an acceptable truth. Agreement with one's message is what PR is seeking to achieve. Thus the message m … [Read more...]
L. Ron Hubbard Has Been to Heaven: He Has the Scientific Research to Prove It
As a follow up to Ron's Saturn quote, Karen De La Carriere sent me this Source reference about heaven. Ron had really hopped on the crazy train the day he wrote this -- it's so out-there that it doesn't even appear in the current Tech Volumes. There is little wonder why -- it makes clear his claims that he "has no beef with Christianity" and thinks Jesus was a man of goodwill and that scientology is non-denominational are just more bs. Here are a few of the choice quotes (not even including the absolutely bizarre date, down to the seconds, when the "implant" occurred). He gets … [Read more...]
Scientologists Professing Their Love for Jesus
Kathie Lee Gifford has recently published a new book she is promoting. It contains a whole chapter that purports to address scientology's take on Jesus, as presented by David and Kelly Pomeranz and their son. You can see the whole chapter here: Pomeranz family interview in book The Jesus I Know Of course, the discussion is a total sham. Using the PR lines scientology always uses, as to tell the actual truth about Hubbard's teachings about Jesus would leave no doubt that there is absolutely nothing compatible between scientology and Christianity. This is an excerpt: Here is … [Read more...]
Easter — Scientology Style
They are at it again: Scientology pretending it is aligned with Christianity. Celebrating Easter is even more hypocritical than celebrating Christmas -- which almost transcends a religious holiday in most Western countries. But Easter, like Passover is truly a religious day, there is no federal holiday designated for these occasions in the US. This is the day to remember Christ on the cross. And a day for scientology to try to cash in on their "christian-friendly" PR line. But what does Hubbard have to say about this occasion? I have written about this before Can Scientologists be … [Read more...]
Episode 66: Dr. Willy Rice Pastor of Calvary Baptist Clearwater
We welcome Dr. Willy Rice, Senior Pastor at Calvary Baptist Church in Clearwater to the podcast. Willy has been one of the few community leaders who has taken a strong, public stance against the abuses of scientology. We talk about the influence of scientology in the community and the lie that you can a Christian and a scientologist. Below are the documents we talk about in the episode. The infamous OT VIII document scientology claims is a forgery that contains the following passage: [T]he historic Jesus was not nearly the sainted figure has been made out to be. … [Read more...]
Scientology, Christianity and the IRS
Reiterating something I have covered before on this Sunday morning. The idea that you can be a scientologist and a Christian is a lie, yet scientologists claim this all the time to try to appear "normal" or "non-threatening." You can see from the official IRS publication above listing the criteria the IRS uses to determine whether an organization qualifies for tax exempt status as a religious organization, that one of them is: Membership not associated with any other church or denomination During the quest to obtain exemption, scientology explained things to the IRS like … [Read more...]
Episode 35: Chris Shelton Part 1
This week, Leah and I are joined by our old friend Chris Shelton. He is a very well-informed former scientology executive who has provided some of the most cogent analyses of scientology in his podcasts, appearances and writings. He is studying Psychology of Coercive Mind Control at the University of Salford. This is a fascinating discussion that covers a wide range of topics -- so much so that we recorded a second episode which will be Part 2 next week, taking a deep dive into two topics. A lot of what we talk about today concerns the fake “religious” aspects of sci … [Read more...]
“I’m a Christian and I’m also a Scientologist”
This guy is running for elected office in Minnesota. He appears to be a legitimate, if unreal, candidate for Minnesota's 4th Congressional District. It's been a democratic district continuously since 1946, the current incumbent has been re-elected every 2 years since 2000. He is a Republican. This guy, like the now forgotten Joy Villa, is a Donald Trump superfan and conspiracy theory supporter on everything from fluoride to vaccinations. And like Joy Villa, he is trying to have his cake and eat it too. He wants to appeal to the Christian right who generally vote Republican, … [Read more...]
