Here is another one of the scientology "press releases"-- note where it was picked up. Even more obscure than the last one which was in a small paper in Richmond, Kentucky. No scientology org in Malaysia at all. This concerns one of the people featured on ScientologyTV "Meet a Scientologist" "series" -- a Hungarian hot air balloonist. The release begins by explaining "Dalma Császár overcame a vision impairment to pursue her lifelong dream of becoming a professional hot air balloon pilot." Of course, you would think the next line would be how Dianetics cured her. Hubbard e … [Read more...]
Thursday Funnies
Little Captain Navy Davey is on the move! The always remarkably resourceful Alex Barnes-Ross sent this to me... This guy has all the answers? He doesn't look like does... The All Ideal ANZO is showing an org in Mexico? Some of these orgs had only one or two people. Most less than 2o. Really rocking and rolling... Damned with faint praise This is the best stuff they could come up with? More very faint praise "Short and pretty fun" "Not at all dramatic" L. Ron Hubbard's Message to … [Read more...]
The Creation of Human Ability
We have had some fun with History of Man here, and so too have many others. Let's take a moment to look at another of the Hubbard books that gets less airtime because it is not as overtly batshit crazy as HOM -- the Creation of Human Ability. Published in 1954, COHA (everything is an acronym in scientology) is primarily Hubbard trying to offer the solution to nobody being able to go Clear with Dianetics. It starts with typical Hubbard bluster about the magnificence of his discoveries and how well-read he is and how scientology follows in the tradition of great philosophies, religions … [Read more...]
Psychosomatic Conditions: An Analysis of Hubbard’s Claims
This article was sent to me by one of our readers, David Chirko. It is an academic analysis and thus rather dense and uses plenty of big words. It deserves to be recorded, it is thorough and cites to many sources, which in itself is an invaluable resource. Psychosomatic Conditions and the Church of Scientology By David Chirko, A.B. chirkoart.ca Sudbury, Ontario, Canada Psychological Researcher/Author Professional Affiliate Member, Division 49, American Psychological Association “Psychosomatic adj. 1. of or relating to the role of the mind…in diseases or dis … [Read more...]
The Bait and Switch of Scientology Promises
You may have read the recent post about Hubbard's claims for cures of virtually all disease and illness through auditing. And his condescending view of the medical profession. One would think scientology would have the conviction of the words of their Founder and Source -- they are expected to abide by them without question or alteration. Yet, everyone who participates in scientology is required to sign several releases, one of which is the Religious Services Enrollment Application, Agreement and General Release (this is the infamous document that has been used to force "Religious … [Read more...]
L. Ron Hubbard on Medicine, Doctors and Cures
L. Ron Hubbard had a very jaundiced view of the medical profession and healing of disease and illness. He announced to the world that he had discovered the real causes and cures for virtually everything with Dianetics and proceeded to expand on his assertions from there all the way through the years in scientology and ultimately with the "New Era Dianetics for OT's." Never one to understate his accomplishments, Hubbard made numerous false claims about his "research" and "discoveries" which still form the "technology" of scientology used today. He proclaimed himself to have … [Read more...]
Vegas Strong?
According to the Las Vegas "ideal" org they are "pouring on the coals" in a massive dissemination campaign to get SOURCE distributed to create "PR Area Control." What is so amazing is that the booklets they handing out are NOT "Source." Hubbard specifically stated his name was NOT to appear on WTH booklets. Nobody who reads it knows who wrote it. The Drug booklets are absolutely NOT written by Hubbard. They could hand out Source writings from Dianetics -- his thoughts on alcohol, marijuana, opium, phenobarbital and ammonium chloride. But that would be contradictory … [Read more...]
More Hubbard on CANCER
I wrote an earlier article: L. Ron Hubbard on Cancer It is hard to fathom that this subject does not get more attention. It is a well-known fact in scientology that the answer to any condition or disease is to get a PTS handling and auditing to solve the problem. Unfortunately, because of this, many scientologists only resort to doctors when it is too late. In order to stave off claims of practicing medicine without a license, Hubbard penned a few policies for PR purposes that say "we are not treating or healing diseases or illnesses," but those few statements are understood to be for … [Read more...]
Off The Deep End
I watched the excellent 4 part documentary The Deep End about spiritual (cult) leader Teal Swan. I had never heard of her until I saw this doc. This trailer will give you some idea of who she is: The filmmakers, Jon Kasbe and Bits Sola have done a remarkable job of showing the world of Teal Swan. They were given astonishing access to Swan and her followers over three years. What unfolds is a fascinating study of control and domination by a cult leader reminiscent of so many others. Bits Sola was also a producer on The Vow (the mesmerizing HBO doc on Keith … [Read more...]
Thursday Funnies
May 9th Reduced to a "special graduation" Back in the day it was a major event held at the Shrine Auditorium Ideal Scenes and Ideal Orgs It's pretty ideal in the world of scientology. At least in their minds. Well, isn't that theta He learned how to be "light and gentle" on the PTS/SP Course. Must be a different course than I ever saw. Still Going Still a "Class VIII" Still a rimless zero Trying a new angle for some PR points Pretty soon we will be reading that the VM's have "formed a partnership" … [Read more...]
