Jeffrey Augustine has been doing a wonderful job of documenting scientology's insane efforts to co-opt various women's rights' organizations and prominent figures to try to bring pressure on A&E not to pursue another season of Scientology and the Aftermath. This is Jeffrey's latest blog post: Read the entire post and his earlier coverage for the full picture. I have nothing to add to his comprehensive and detailed dissection of this sham. But I will say this. Taryn was born into the Sea Org. It is all she has ever known. She has been instilled with no other values in her … [Read more...]
“It works every time because it was written by LRH”
This is an amazing piece from Jeanie Franks/Bogvad's current husband. It is a distillation of how fundamentalist scientologists view the world and their role in it. First off for every good scientologist, an "LRH quote" must set the stage and prove to everyone how "On-Source" you are. This is a very well scripted, acted, shot, edited and scored series. But more importantly, it is the best portrayal I have ever seen of the prison of the mind that entraps those in cults. It is extremely difficult to understand why people remain in a cult for anyone who has not experienced it themselves. This show portrays it accurately - the torment and anguish that those with doubts go through, the threat of losing loved ones, … [Read more...]
Lying and Fundamentalist Scientology — Sunday Redux
This was originally posted on 29 December 2013. It has only gotten worse.... Is the "Church of Scientology" a fundamentalist organization? In my view, it is. And if you read the criteria for fundamentalism above, there is not much doubt that the hard core members of the church fit right in to these 5 points. I was prompted to write this by an interesting post on Marty's blog a little while ago entitled Trained To Lie. I posted a comment in response which I repeat here: Marty — the corollary to this is the fact that these people will do anything to “protect the church” and bel … [Read more...]
