We have had some fun with History of Man here, and so too have many others. Let's take a moment to look at another of the Hubbard books that gets less airtime because it is not as overtly batshit crazy as HOM -- the Creation of Human Ability. Published in 1954, COHA (everything is an acronym in scientology) is primarily Hubbard trying to offer the solution to nobody being able to go Clear with Dianetics. It starts with typical Hubbard bluster about the magnificence of his discoveries and how well-read he is and how scientology follows in the tradition of great philosophies, religions … [Read more...]
More Lying Hype: Hubbard, Scientology and the Cradle of Humankind
Another hype-filled "press release" from scientology presents a completely false picture of scientology and L. Ron Hubbard. They peg this announcement of a scientologyTV show about Joburg org to "the cradle of civilization" -- making it seem that scientology actually aligns with this concept of evolution. It goes on to explain how the new episode covers Johannesburg's history, "including its singular distinction as "The Cradle of Humankind"—the place where humanity started." It is little wonder they don't mention what scientologists actually believe, described in Hubbard's bizarre h … [Read more...]
Between Lives Implants and Clams
This recent promotion on Facebook brought up the subject of "Between Lives Implants," one of Hubbard's crazier concepts. Their lecture is necessarily a regurgitation of Hubbard's "technology" contained in his wonderfully bonkers book, History of Man. You know, the one that begins: This is a cold-blooded and factual account of your last sixty trillion years. The test of any knowledge is its usefulness. Does it make one happier or more able? By it and with it, can he better achieve his goals ? This is useful knowledge. With it the blind again see, the lame walk, … [Read more...]
Ideal Org “Good News”
This is a collection of standard issue, cookie-cutter scientology mirages, misrepresentations and lies. If you see a promo piece from a scientology org, "ideal" or otherwise, you know you will be witnessing some bs. Let's start at the top. This is their collection of "Good News" -- the best news they can come up with in this ideal org. And that consists of a single "success story" from someone who is already a Class V auditor and has already read "all the basics" upon completion of the Technique 88 lecture series. For those unfamiliar, the Technique 88 lectures … [Read more...]
The “History of Man”
“A History of Man” is one of the more bizarre scribblings of L. Ron Hubbard. This so-called "Antediluvian Technology" (antediluvian is defined as: of or belonging to the time before the biblical Flood, so not sure what this "technology" is supposed to be) is not considered "outdated research" or "theoretical. " It is part of what every scientologist must study to even be considered a real scientologist. I was reminded of this when I saw a recent post on Tony Ortega's blog that included this FB post: I made an earlier post about this book, focusing on the reference to the Pil … [Read more...]
A History of Man
In one of his more famous brags about his research and discoveries, L. Ron Hubbard wrote the following in the introduction to his bizarre 1951 book History of Man. This is a cold-blooded and factual account of your last sixty trillion years. The test of any knowledge is its usefulness. Does it make one happier or more able? By it and with it, can he better achieve his goals ? This is useful knowledge. With it the blind again see, the lame walk, the ill recover, the insane become sane and the sane become saner. By its use the thousand abilities Man has sought to recover become his once … [Read more...]
