Well, this should be interesting. A talk, at St Hill, about what it was like training under Ron. Do you think the "legendary" John Parselle (interesting side note -- he signed me up for the Sea Org when he had been sent to Australia as a Tours Reg in 1973, he was never a posted auditor again) will mention the elephant in the room? The "training under Ron" that John participated in was perhaps the Briefing Course and definitely the Class VIII course on board the Apollo. NEITHER OF THESE COURSES ARE AVAILABLE IN SCIENTOLOGY TODAY. The two auditor courses that Hubbard declared … [Read more...]
L. Ron Hubbard: How to Present Scientology
Scientology often tries to reach out to real churches and human rights organizations in an attempt to generate goodwill for itself and create "PR Area Control." Here are some of L. Ron Hubbard's writings on the subject to provide some insight into what is really going on in these efforts to ingratiate themselves with other groups. Hubbard had a lot to say about how to present scientology and make it acceptable in society. Most of which has nothing to do with scientology as a subject. But instead revolves putting forth an IMAGE of what scientology is to make it "acceptable." And making bold … [Read more...]
L. Ron Hubbard on The Cause of Crime
This is another of the descent into insanity scribblings of Hubbard… This is not only factually untrue in many places, it is also illogical. The VAST majority of people convicted of crimes have never been anywhere near a "psych." By the end of his life Hubbard had become obsessed with BT's and psychs. They had always been hot topics or him, but we know from his published writings (including the Mission Earth crazy) that the psychs had become the target for everything wrong in society. And we know from the account of one of the 3 people who was with him in his last days and that he was so … [Read more...]
The Narcissistic Personality Part 5: Do Narcissists Cry?
See earlier posts in this series: Part 1: The Narcissist Part 2: The Sneaky Techniques of the Cover Narcissist Part 3: The “Generous” Narcissist Part 4: The Altruistic Narcissist The propensity to cry is not something I ever observed in either Ron Hubbard or David Miscavige -- this is perhaps the first trait describing the narcissist that has not applied, though certainly the underlying emotions and motivations were present. But it is enlightening in a broader sense for anyone trying to understand or dealing with a narcissistic personality. Overview of nar … [Read more...]
The Narcissistic Personality Part 4: The Altruistic Narcissist
This is an interesting twist — at first glance altruism and narcissism seem completely contradictory. In my experience, both L. Ron Hubbard and David Miscavige displayed these traits: claiming to have pure intentions to help mankind, even requiring enormous personal sacrifice on their behalf, until it no longer forwarded their objective. Then it’s forgotten faster than yesterday’s news. Read the earlier posts in this series: Part 1: The Narcissist Part 2: The Sneaky Techniques of the Cover Narcissist Part 3: The “Generous” Narcissist What is an Altruistic Narc … [Read more...]
My Afternoon in Scientology — Washington D.C. Edition
Another report from someone who ventured into a scientology org -- this time in Washington, D.C. I am not sure how long ago the person had this experience, but it was before they moved into the new "ideal org" building, when the org was operating out of the old Frasier Mansion (which is now the "National Affairs Office"). Of course, the great (?) thing about scientology is that nothing ever changes. It could have been yesterday or a decade ago or in the 1980's and the same things would have happened. You can read the full article here. As a note for those unfamiliar with the term like … [Read more...]
Why the Expensive Scientology Buildings?
I have explained this before but the question continues to be raised -- why is David Miscavige so obsessed with purchasing real estate? I am answering here as succinctly as possible. This strategy is not just the "ideal org" program, it also includes buying former homes and offices of L. Ron Hubbard, purchasing a redundant TV studio (KCET), and superfluous audio recording studio (Mad Hatter), buying properties to house printing presses and a "dissemination center" and other properties for Narconon, Applied Scholastics and the Way to Happiness Fdn. This real estate strategy serves several … [Read more...]
The Hubbard Lies Even Scientology Won’t Stand Behind
Recently, Denny Owen posted a comment about All About Radiation. A Church of Scientology leaflet distributed for a number of years before the book was finally discarded made remarkable claims: In All About Radiation, we have the sane and sober views of a medical doctor on the physical facts and consequences of the actual atomic blast and the diseases resulting from it. L. Ron Hubbard, who was one of the first nuclear physicists in the United States, has interpreted these facts and related them to human livingness, governments, and the control of populaces. These facts when … [Read more...]
High Conflict Personalities
Another article sent to me recently that I am republishing and commenting on here as it explains a lot of what we see going on in the world of scientology. The more knowledge and understanding one has of the phenomena associated with cults and cultish behavior and the toxic traits and personalities you find associated with them, the better chance one has of not being damaged and retaining one’s sanity. This article is oriented towards avoiding hooking up with a High Conflict Person as a partner, but the description of this type of individual is broadly applicable. It originally appeared in P … [Read more...]
How Being in a Cult Can Affect Your Mental Health
Someone sent me this article recently which I had not seen before. It was originally published on MentalHealth.com and I found it to be generally informative though by nature of it being very broad to cover all cults, I think there are some things in here that are not so applicable to scientology. I have left a few comments in red italics throughout. How being in a cult can affect your mental health Author: Sean JacksonMedical Reviewer: Morgan Blair People who join cults often do so out of a strong desire to belong, matter, and give meaning to their lives. In reality, cults often d … [Read more...]
