Leah reminded me of a piece of Hubbard crazy that I had totally forgotten about. This is CURRENT policy of scientology. These are the covers he is referring to: According to Ron, any Immigration Official seeing these covers is going to fall all over himself to let the good scientologist into their country. And he is SERIOUS. Scientologists believe this is true because Ron said it is, even though by observation these paintings are middle-school level efforts, especially the boy looking out the window. How this image is supposed to cause … [Read more...]
Scientology: Psychological Terrorism
The last in the "vacation series" — now home but haven’t yet had a chance to put together a new post. Stay tuned tomorrow for another new post. Scientology is the only organization claiming to be a religion that has it's own "intelligence"/dirty tricks branch. It is unique in that the "doctrine" of scientology (i.e. the written and spoke words of L. Ron Hubbard) contain directives for scientology to engage in intelligence activities, including gathering information, spying, executing operations to intimidate and ultimately destroy people and even framing them. You can read many of Hub … [Read more...]
Scientology’s Disdain for Law Enforcement
This is an earlier post I am updating, along with a new YouTube video today. In the wake of the Danny Masterson rape trial (soon to be retried after the jury ended up hung), many are curious about scientology's position with respect to reporting crimes to law enforcement. Scientology responded to reports they forbid this in typical fashion -- quoting the LA Times: The Church of Scientology declined to comment on the pending criminal matter, but said the religion has no policy against reporting crimes committed by Scientologists to law enforcement. “Church policy explicitly demands S … [Read more...]
L. Ron Hubbard’s Birthday
Today is L. Ron Hubbard's birthday. Born in Tilden, Nebraska on 13 March 1911, this may be the only consistently true statement he made about himself. I cannot think of a better occasion to recommend yet again, reading Russell Miller's excellent, unauthorized biography of Hubbard, Bare-Faced Messiah. Hubbard was always talking about "truth" and how important it is. His life was fictionalized by him for his own gain. Almost every aspect of it. Miller's thoroughly researched and documented account will put the lies to rest about Hubbard's life once and for all. What could be a … [Read more...]
Neil Gaiman’s Scientology Suicide Story
This interesting piece detailing a tumultuous period of scientology's history was sent to me by Mike Crotty, the creator of the Investigative Youtube series 'Comic's Secret History' Whether you agree with his conclusions concerning why Neil Gaiman's book frames events as it does, he has laid out the history of scientology in the UK in the mid-60's better than I have seen it done anywhere before. It was a convulsive time and led to the formation of the Sea Org when Hubbard left the UK to try his luck in reassuming his role as founder of Rhodesia, and failing at that Neil Gaiman's … [Read more...]
US Department of Justice Scathing Takedown of Scientology
This is one of the most damning documents in the history of scientology. It summarizes the incriminating files seized in the FBI raid conducted in 1977. The raids in Washington DC and Los Angeles garnered thousands of documents which were combed through by DOJ lawyers as part of the prosecution of Mary Sue Hubbard and her top deputies in the Guardian's Office. Ultimately they pled guilty in October 1979 -- Mary Sue received a 5 year prison sentence and a $10,000 fine. L. Ron Hubbard was an unindicted co-conspirator -- he had kept his name off GO documents, and those charged fell on their … [Read more...]
Guiding the Steady Decline of LRH PR
Hey ho -- big news! The L. Ron Hubbard Public Relations Officer (wonder if any other dead people have a public relations officer?) got an award and they are spreading the good word! I looked up this organization and this award. Gotta say, for the ONLY workable "PR technology," this doesn't seem like much of a recognition. But it is the only one they've EVER gotten. Some notable points: One, the award bestowers apparently only looked at the stuff scientology sent them -- a resume that includes a LOT of generalities ("international VIPs" and "high profile professionals" … [Read more...]
Hubbard on the Role of Women
Some more words of wisdom from Ron. This is taken from Science of Survival, one of his books that is a foundation upon which so much of scientology is based. It is not "esoteric" or merely "part of the research track" like "Creative Processing" in Creation of Human Ability or "Black and White" processing in Scientology 8-80 -- techniques that were supplanted by later "breakthroughs." This is the book that lays out the Tone Scale and first introduces theta and the "theta-MEST" theory. Nothing out of date or "no longer used" in this book. This is the view all good scientologists are … [Read more...]
The David Miscavige Film Festival
Oh, what could be more fun than a David Miscavige Film Festival? Sitting for hours (punctuated by the obligatory standing ovations to prevent dozing off) watching Mr. Mickiewicz spout Shermanspeak proclaiming the great accomplishments of scientology taking over the world. I can imagine those who show up (perhaps because they are doing lower conditions?) feel this vibe: Back in the "good old days" of scientology this would have been "L. Ron Hubbard tape plays" or perhaps showings of the Hitchman Interview and Clearing Congress Films. These are the only visual presentations … [Read more...]
The Flat Tax — Republicans Reviving the Scientology Campaign to Abolish the IRS
It's in the news that the Republicans in Congress are seeking to implement a flat sales tax and essentially do away with the need for the IRS. Just one recent article can be found here. This story includes the following paragraph: One thing that became clear very quickly: McCarthy’s desperation to have the title of House speaker meant more to him than having any convictions. An example of his clear powerlessness in whatever deals he agreed to were reports that he would bring a ludicrous tax proposal for a vote on the House floor. It’s the Fair Tax Act, a deal first cre … [Read more...]
