Recently, a letter from the "Claims Verification Board" came to my attention. In it they state: "It has always been church policy that anyone requesting a refund/repayment must do so within 3 months" -- so of course, they denied the request for return of funds (as they ALWAYS do). This is NOT in fact even what "church policy" says. Let's go through what L. Ron Hubbard said "church policy" is with respect to giving dissatisfied customers their money back (remember, the entire Victorian Inquiry came about because Hubbard refused to return a small amount of money to one … [Read more...]
Reality Check: Scientologists and Law Enforcement
With the ongoing rape trial of Danny Masterson, a lot of people are curious about scientology's position with respect to reporting crimes to law enforcement. Scientology responded to reports they forbid this in typical fashion -- quoting the LA Times: The Church of Scientology declined to comment on the pending criminal matter, but said the religion has no policy against reporting crimes committed by Scientologists to law enforcement. “Church policy explicitly demands Scientologists abide by all laws of the land,” spokeswoman Karin Pouw said. Though most people reject scientology's den … [Read more...]
Brainwashed According to Scientology
I noticed this some time ago, but had not gotten around to doing anything with it. Another brilliant analysis from the experts at STAND: who of course know absolutely nothing, including what Hubbard had to say... He kicks his piece off with a witty description of how to "wash a brain" before prattling on about how brainwashing is a hoax: How to wash a brain: Carefully remove the brain. Gently immerse it in a bowl of lukewarm soapy water. Scrub the brain gently with a fine bristled brush. Rinse the brain. Wrap the brain in plastic wrap to prevent further … [Read more...]
Between Lives Implants and Clams
This recent promotion on Facebook brought up the subject of "Between Lives Implants," one of Hubbard's crazier concepts. Their lecture is necessarily a regurgitation of Hubbard's "technology" contained in his wonderfully bonkers book, History of Man. You know, the one that begins: This is a cold-blooded and factual account of your last sixty trillion years. The test of any knowledge is its usefulness. Does it make one happier or more able? By it and with it, can he better achieve his goals ? This is useful knowledge. With it the blind again see, the lame walk, … [Read more...]
More Hubbard on CANCER
I wrote an earlier article: L. Ron Hubbard on Cancer It is hard to fathom that this subject does not get more attention. It is a well-known fact in scientology that the answer to any condition or disease is to get a PTS handling and auditing to solve the problem. Unfortunately, because of this, many scientologists only resort to doctors when it is too late. In order to stave off claims of practicing medicine without a license, Hubbard penned a few policies for PR purposes that say "we are not treating or healing diseases or illnesses," but those few statements are understood to be for … [Read more...]
Scientology Homophobia
This is the sixth "vacation" post, revisiting some of the more important articles to have appeared on my blog over the years. The original post and comments is here. Is scientology homophobic? There has been considerable discussion about this. In today's world, where it is no longer socially acceptable to be anti-gay, scientology has taken steps to attempt to portray itself as tolerant and welcoming of the LGBT community. But similar to scientology's claims that disconnection "doesn't exist" or is simply a "personal choice," the PR smokescreen hides an ugly and unp … [Read more...]
The “Glory” of Scientology’s Dead “Enemies”
This is the fifth "vacation" post, revisiting some of the more important articles to have appeared on my blog over the years. The original post and comments can be found here. A couple of days ago, Tony Ortega posted a lengthy "success story" from a woman who had recently completed "Super Power." Of course, it was over-the-top bizarre, but one paragraph stood out: While on the rundown two major SPs (2.5 percent) connected to my dynamics received their bitter end. One died in an unexpected way, and the other got put in a psychiatric hospital by his best friend. This filled … [Read more...]
Why Do Scientologists Lie?
I originally posted a version of this in early 2017. I have updated it with additional information and quotes. It's important, especially in light of the ongoing prosecution of Danny Masterson, other investigations, and civil cases. Anyone who confronts scientology witnesses needs to understand the nature of the beast. While repeatedly asserting that they are "the most ethical group on earth" and that they are constantly having to "get rid of" people who "cannot live up to their ethical standards," in truth, every dedicated scientologist is a liar. Why? The … [Read more...]
Dealing with Critics of Scientology – The L. Ron Hubbard Playbook
If you read this blog, you are likely aware of Leah Remini's upcoming A&E show. I have had the pleasure of working with Leah on this show as a consultant and participant, a cause of great distress for the church. So I thought I might weigh in with some information I feel is pertinent to events now and into the future. As a reader here you are likely also aware of the "church" reaction to the announcement of the show and the first trailer being released - the usual name-calling, smearing and foot stomping that does not RESPOND in any fashion to the abuses being exposed. There is much … [Read more...]
Hubbard: The Expert on Children
Someone sent me this recent Facebook post from Mace Kingsley. It highlights one of the more sinister aspects of scientology: the enormous amount of false -- often harmful and sometimes dangerous -- information Hubbard spewed forth about children. The above is just a sampling, and it's pretty horrific. Children's "overts" are the problem and they should be getting married and given jobs at age 14. College is a bad idea, because it "puts a delay on marriage..." What a crackpot. And you only have to look at HIS life to see just how worthy his opinions and … [Read more...]
