Sent to me by a Special Correspondent last night. Nothing further need be said. And no sooner had I posted this than I saw this from Marc Headley on Twitter. Seems to be a trend... UPDATE: Here is another one. Access Hollywood interview with Leah. 43,905 views. And who is PAYING to place their ad to try and take advantage of Leah's prominence? It's always a little satisfying when liars are caught lying! And just because.... And finally... … [Read more...]
Hurricane Leah
Hurricane Leah is blowing Miscavige's house down. It is stunning that her book jumped immediately to the TOP of the NY Times Bestseller list. Scientology will likely tell their sheeple it is a reflection of the public "demand" for what they have to offer. It's an old refrain. "Any publicity is good publicity." "Just as long as you spell our name right." Blah blah blah. Reminiscent of Monty Python's black knight proclaiming "it's just a flesh wound" when his arms have been chopped off and "we'll call it a draw" when his legs are gone too. In truth it is a reflection of the public's … [Read more...]
Leah Remini, Shelly Miscavige and Tom Cruise
What can Miscavige do to respond to Hurricane Leah? She is blowing his house down and it is a storm that comes on top of severe damage already inflicted on the once apparently impregnable fortress of scientology. It has been building throughout the year -- Going Clear at Sundance got the ball rolling. Followed by the revelations from the PI's tailing his father which thrust scientology back into the headlines. Losing tax exemption in the Netherlands. Tony Ortega's Unbreakable Miss Lovely, a never ending stream of Narconon bad news. And much more. And now Troublemaker has stepped it up … [Read more...]
Scientology “Dead Agents” Itself
As the media onslaught surrounding Troublemaker continues unabated, now hitting Entertainment Tonight, People mag, the Washington Post and everywhere else you turn, scientology is in bunker mode. Refusing all media inquiries for "spokespeople" and dishing out the same old cut and paste "responses." And as with every media who has sought to cover anything related to scientology, ABC received the usual litany of letters prior to the airing of the 20/20 piece. Each of them complains about how their sources are disreputable liars, every question the media asks is ludicrous and accusing them of … [Read more...]
Some Random Thoughts on Leah Remini
A few random thoughts about the Leah Remini media storm that is growing by the hour. ♦ The response from Katie Holmes was all class. Back during the frenzy that surrounded her split from TC and subsequent divorce I commented that she had handled the whole thing with skill and aplomb. Now you can add grace to that list. Some have criticized her for not saying enough. I applaud her for saying anything at all. She had no need. Her few carefully chosen words communicated an enormous amount -- and clearly had the intended effect on the one person audience she was addressing them to. Leah's r … [Read more...]
Scientology “responds” to Leah Remini
There has been a massive amount of media following the ABC 20/20 interview with Leah on Friday evening. One of the more complete stories covering the show was in USA Today (not normally their forte...) and within that story (and some others) they link to the Scientology response they regurgitated on Friday night (regurgitated because it is virtually the same statement they have made to every piece of media coverage since 2007). That response speaks loudly to the mindset of scientology, the policies it follows in dealing with those it doesn't like who happen to be covered by the media, and … [Read more...]
Leah Remini: Troublemaker
See Tony Ortega's blog for the story. Believe me, there are some people who are going to find the title of this book oh so appropriate. David Miscavige, Tommy Davis and Tom Cruise, take a bow... PS: I also guarantee, you will be laughing out loud. Leah is VERY funny. … [Read more...]
JLo, Disconnection and Going Clear
Alex Gibney's film, Going Clear, documents the horror of disconnection and how it is used as a control mechanism in scientology. It is most dramatically demonstrated in his film with the story of Sara Goldberg. Her son Nick had a friend who was friends with me. Nick would not disconnect from his friend, so his mother was told to disconnect from her son. She was given an impossible choice -- if she didn't disconnect from him, she would be declared an SP and her daughter would be forced to disconnect from her. This is not a "personal choice" (as the church so often proclaims). Sara has the d … [Read more...]
The King Of Ad Hominem
David Miscavige, in typical form, responds to the fairly innocuous statements of Leah Remini reported in Buzzfeed and subsequently in a lot of other media. A number of people who know some of the real story wondered why she was soft-peddling her comments and assumed it was simply that she is moving on with her life and has little interest in even talking about the subject, though reporters want to make it the focus of any interview. Her comments about wanting to spend more time with her daughter and family and not be so slavishly devoted to the church have been widely picked up … [Read more...]
Happy New Year
To everyone that is part of the extended family that gathers here to share views, to see what's going on or are just a little curious -- Happy New Year. 2013 has been an adventure. I sincerely appreciate the encouragement and support I have received from so many of you. Over the past few days, Tony Ortega has recapped the year and if you haven't caught up with it, do so at his blog. A LOT has happened. The landscape of the Scientology world has shifted. In my view there were two monumental events in the last year: 1. Monique Rathbun filing her lawsuit. To mix metaphors -- this is a … [Read more...]
