This is quite surreal. Here is a scientologist, conducting a "seminar" in a scientology org, to attract interest in his services of "keeping people out of the hands of psychiatry." Like Lisa McPherson was kept out of the hands of psychiatry? There are two things about this that boggle the mind: First, every scientologist is required to sign an agreement in order to be allowed to take ANY services, that states they do NOT want to be in the hands of psychiatry and instead choose to undergo an introspection rundown. This is an excerpt from that agreement -- you can find a copy of the … [Read more...]
Scientology, Psychiatry and Politics
I have written a few pieces here about the general inclination of scientologists to vote Republican. Hubbard's disdain for government and welfare are important reasons why scientologists tend not to be liberal/Democrats. But the biggest reason has to do with psychiatry. In this, scientologists are single-issue voters and virtually every one of them would never vote for a Democratic administration. Scientology's oldest and most dedicated "social reform" group, Citizens Commission on Human Rights (CCHR) has recently made clear to all scientologists that the current President and his … [Read more...]
Scientologists: Republicans or Democrats? Pro-Choice or Pro-Life?
I am often asked this question, and my answer is usually that while there is no hard and fast rule, scientologists tend to lean Republican because of Hubbard's words: He opposed "big government" (pretty much ALL government -- it's "group bank") He opposed welfare -- that is "rewarding downstats." He opposed taxes. He believed homosexuality is an "aberration" He opposed government funded medical programs because "they support psychiatry." These positions pretty much ensure any good scientologist is a Republican voter. We saw in 2016 that the only precinct in LA that voted for Trump for … [Read more...]
Thursday Funnies
These are the "top" scientology orgs... Wow, if Joburg is way up there, and Silicon Valley, OMG things are even worse than I had thought. They are both completely and utterly empty... We are gearing up... A guy on his Method 1 is their Technical Team? They are going to be gearing up for a LOOONG time. There are 77 neighborhoods in Chicago So, that means you should join staff. Wonder if they know Baskin Robbins has 43 flavors? That should be good for some signups too. And did you realize Chicago has TWO MLB teams? Everyone should sign up on that … [Read more...]
The Miracle of Hubbard Tech
The full story is here. Eddie is a long time scientologist who went Clear in the 90's and the last recorded service is OT Preps in 2015. You can see some of his history detailed in the most recent article on him by Tony Ortega at The Underground Bunker. This sad story begs some obvious questions: Why did the tech fail so miserably in helping Eddie -- someone who is more of a celebrity than a lot of the "celebrities" who are afforded special care and attention at the "Celebrity Centre." Is CCHR doing everything they can to get him out of the hands of the psychs, just like they did with … [Read more...]
Ron on Saturn
"If I were on Saturn, I wouldn't believe such a stupid planet existed, where you had to convince people of a science that gives everyone the priceless gift of freedom. But it exists and you are in it." One of our readers sent this promo item to me, and was curious about where this quote came from. It's a Hubbard doozie -- everyone on this planet is stupid because they don't recognize his "science" which gives the "priceless gift of freedom." Of course, the use of science is one of his favorites to convince people that his "technology" is not simply made up, but scientifically … [Read more...]
CCHR Propaganda
The level of hypocrisy on display in scientology -- in this case, CCHR -- is astonishing. They grab onto "group insanities" and toss off a few examples, starting with "refusal to employ someone or allow them to belong" -- in the face of scientology's disconnection policy? Even beyond refusal to allow someone to belong, it takes it the next step and enforces that those who DO belong are not allowed to even speak with the person who is not allowed to belong. Then "failure to use people" -- check out the slave-labor busy work Sea Org members are engaged in. Or even … [Read more...]
Hubbard on Doctors — Not a Fan
L. Ron Hubbard had a disdain for doctors. He believed the medical profession was in league with psychiatry and drug companies, and they feared dianetics and scientology because it would take away their income stream. If, as he claimed, the vast majority of illness and disability was psychosomatic, then the vast majority of doctors would not be needed. I have covered some of his crazier statements about what dianetics and NOTs can cure -- from eyesight to cancer and everything in between. But I have not previously covered his disdain for doctors as a profession. There are plenty of … [Read more...]
L. Ron Hubbard on Psychiatry, Pain and Sex
This is an expansion of an earlier post I did on this subject. Hubbard always had a lot to say about psychiatry being the root of all evil in this universe, but towards the end of his days, he became increasingly obsessed with the topic. Just as he was trying to get rid of those pesky BT's and clusters, so too he was trying to explain to the world the scourge of psychiatry. Read his fiction from the time -- Battlefield Earth and even more so, Mission Earth, and his fixation on psychiatry is remarkable. They are the source of all suppression of mankind. His unpublished writings are even … [Read more...]
What is the Political Affiliation of Scientologists?
Over the years, many people have asked about the political views and affiliations of scientologists. Every time I ask for questions for a listener Q and A episode of the Fair Game Podcast, this question comes up. Of course, while there can be no blanket generalization about the politics of a group composed of individuals, individualism is not encouraged in scientology. One is expected to toe the party line. So you tend to see a lot of people subscribing to the same views about everything. Thanks to Aaron Smith-Levin taking the time to count voters registered at scientology buildings in … [Read more...]
