Squirrels and Change L. Ron Hubbard defined “squirrel” as, 1. a squirrel is doing something entirely different. He doesn’t understand any of the principles so he makes up a bunch of them to fulfill his ignorance, foists them off on a pc and gets no place. (SH Spec 77, 611C08). 2. Those who engage in actions altering Scn, and offbeat practices. (ISE, p. 40). –v. change and invent processes. (HCOB 15 Jan 70 II).” In HCO PL 14 Feb 65, he defined “squirreling” as, “altering Scientology, offbeat practices. It is a bad thing.” Comparing anyone who would try something different to a rodent is a t … [Read more...]
Scientologists, Lies, and the ARC Triangle
Terra is with us once more... Scientologists, Lies, and the ARC Triangle A bedrock of L. Ron Hubbard philosophy is the ARC Triangle. “A” = Affinity. “R” = Reality. “C” = Communication. He wrote that together these three equal “U”, Understanding. Anything that effects one point of this triangle, effects the others. For instance, the more one communicates with a person or subject, the greater his Affinity, Reality, and Understanding with them. Raising one corner of the triangle to a higher state, raises the other two—and vice versa. That which lowers one corner of the triangle, lowers the other … [Read more...]
You Can Be Right about Being Wrong or, L. Ron Hubbard and Scales
Our old friend Terra has come up with another of his thought-provoking essays. You Can Be Right about Being Wrong or, L. Ron Hubbard and Scales L. Ron Hubbard was into scales. All types of scales. If a condition existed in life, the man scaled it. From the Emotional Tone Scale to the Know to Sex Scale, he created scales, graphs, and charts to measure the relative importance, rank, and position of everything. I prefer not using LRH’s own “technology” to describe what’s happening in Scientology today, but couldn’t help myself after reading one such scale from lecture 27 Aug 63, Rightness and W … [Read more...]
L. Ron Hubbard and Family
Terra Cognita has some new thoughts... L. Ron Hubbard and Family I came across this quote in a recent Scientology promo piece: "A family is simply a group for the purpose of sexual pleasure and the rearing of children and mutual economic advantages amongst ourselves. You know, it's a small group. Therefore, we have this actual group. The race wouldn't be anywhere without the family." — L. Ron Hubbard, Classic Lecture, On the Second Dynamic—Sex, Children & the Family (6 April 1955). Mind Stun It boggles my mind that LRH: One: Defined the family as “…simply a group for the purpose … [Read more...]
Terra Math, L. Ron Hubbard, and Wacky Cosmology
Terra joins us once again for some more thought provocation. Terra Math, L. Ron Hubbard, and Wacky Cosmology Definition of cosmology (Dictionary.com): the branch of philosophy dealing with the origin and general structure of the universe, with its parts, elements, and laws, and especially with such of its characteristics as space, time, causality and freedom. Per L. Ron Hubbard’s cosmological view of the universe, we, as spiritual beings, have lived for quadrillions of years—which is a whole lot of years and a whole lot of zeros. A quadrillion years is a long time. A really, really long tim … [Read more...]
Scientology, L. Ron Hubbard, and Reefer Madness
Our old friend Terra Cognita is back with some more thoughts... Scientology, L. Ron Hubbard, and Reefer Madness LRH was hung up on dope. If drugs weren’t the scourge of his universe they were certainly a bane of his existence. LRH convinced himself and his followers that drugs were invented by evil psychiatrists quadrillions of years ago in order to control and enslave people. According to him, we’ve been popping pills since the beginning of time, and drugs are a major cause for our dullness. Ironically, he was never able to treat his own dependency and died a lonely and addicted man … [Read more...]
Scientology, Confront, and Fear
Our old friend, Terra Cognita has returned with another thought provoking essay. Scientology, Confront, and Fear One of the more celebrated concepts in Scientology has to do with “confront.” From Training Routine 0 on the beginning Communications Course, to ferreting out demons on the OT Levels, the ability to confront is paramount in achieving spiritual freedom. A Scientologist is nothing without excellent confront. The old Scientology tech dictionary lists four definitions for the word. 1. An action of being able to face. 2. The ability to be there comfortably and perceive. 3. Confront i … [Read more...]
Exchange…or Scientology: Must Be Contributed To
Terra Cognita is back with another thought provoker... Exchange...or Scientology: Must Be Contributed To L. Ron Hubbard wrote that there were four types of exchange. The lowest and most undesirable of these was criminal exchange in which people take without giving anything in return. A classic example is the thief. The second type is partial exchange, where you order the world's strongest widget and it breaks the first time you try to use it. The third form is equal exchange. I give you a loaf of bread; you give me three dollars. I work at Jabberworks Computers; they pay me a monthly … [Read more...]
Clear on the 1st Dynamic? I Think Not
Our old friend Terra Cognita has provided another thought-provoking essay. Clear on the 1st Dynamic? I Think Not When people weren’t going “Clear” during Scientology auditing, L. Ron Hubbard—or someone within the church; I don’t know who—decided that pre-OT processing only cleared people on the First Dynamic. “Clears” were told that they no longer had their “own reactive mind.” In other words, people who’d been audited on Dianetics and the Grades were now superhuman and self-determined, but still screwed up on their other seven Dynamics. Apparently, seven-eighths of their problems and hang-up … [Read more...]
Hiding
Terra is back with another thought-provoking essay. Hiding I am wary of leaders who don’t show their faces in public. Since they didn’t assume their lofty positions by being shy, I assume they’re hiding something. The higher their standing, the more dirty little secrets they need to keep buried—and the more suspicious I become of their motives. Down the Rabbit Hole Ron Hubbard started down this road to reclusive behavior not long after Dianetics was disparaged by the mainstream health industries in the middle of last century. He lectured to dedicated followers via courses … [Read more...]
